Oh what a delightfully refreshing take on astrology. Dirtbag Astrology by Alberto Toribio is a fun and raunchy exploration of the zodiac signs and their individual aspects. With great humor, Dirtbag Astrology provides a surprisingly in-depth primer for those interested in the study of astrology.

Funny, honest, and will totally help you remember the supposed characteristics of each sign just because the descriptions are so outrageous. Loved Toribio's voice and I hope he writes more books because I am there for it.

Highly informative in a super fun, interesting way. This isn’t a stuffy book on astrology (I’m sure you can assume by the title) it’s also not extremely serious. I learned enough to get my interest piqued.

This book would be a nice coffee table book for a casual astrology lover. It doesn’t say much that hasn’t been said in other astrology books before, but it has moments of humor and some good basic info. I think the title and cover made me think it would lean into the humorous aspects more than it did. There is one page with an illustration of all the signs’ constellations and playfully insulting names for each one. I enjoyed that vibe and wish there was even more of it in the book. That said, it would be a great book for someone who is very casually interested in astrology. It is not for a reader who already has quite a bit of knowledge. The descriptions are well thought out and written with a gentleness that’s at odds with the tongue and cheek “dirtbag” side of things. I know quite a bit about astrology and still enjoyed reading the descriptions of my sun and moon signs. The section about my moon sign, in particular, was written in a really lovely way—with helpful metaphors I hadn’t heard used before.
This book is okay. A fun gift for someone who dabbles in basic astrology. I probably won’t return to it or think of it when recommending astrology books in the future though.

I adore astrology books. There's nothing really new here but I still enjoyed it. It's always so invigorating when your sign is so spot on and you feel that energy and resonance.

Thank you to NetGalley and to the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Dirtbag Astrology is a beautifully illustrated and fascinating read! I found myself getting lost in chapters that described and explained astrology in accessible and interesting ways. I loved it!

I think the design and the content make this the perfect gift for someone interested in astrology. It went a bit above a beginner's knowledge, and I found myself looking a few things up for more explanations. I really enjoyed this! It challenged my base understanding and left me with some more knowledge.

Frankly, I was underwhelmed by this book. The description seemed exciting and like it would be a novel take on classic astrology. However, it was just generalized descriptions of sun and moon signs and some other information that didn't fit into a coherent whole. This might be good for a beginner but unfortunately, it wasn't for me.

One of the most frustrating things reading books such as this is the missed opportunities for greatness. I was excited thinking this would be more of the dark side of astrology mixed with humorous truths that made you feel called out.

The book felt more like filler than information. Each chapter on each sign was incredibly short and very basic. You could find deeper and more detailed information on an Astrology blog. It was incredibly disappointing. The descriptions of sun signs was very short, and the Moon signs even shorter providing very little insight. The use of Mercury Gatorade taken from a meme created years ago, and i could understand its use if it was used in a similar context to drive the point home. But it was completely out of place here.

I really wanted to like this book and looked forward to reading it, but the book reads like it was written for the sake of saying one wrote a book.

I'm sorry to say, but I didn't like this one. Some things were spot on about my sun sign, while most of them were so far from who I am. I know they're not going to be exact to who you are, but I expected something a little better than this.

Thank you to Netgalley and Union Square & Co. (Sterling Ethos) for the digital copy of Dirtbag Astrology in exchange for my honest review.

“The macro is a reflection of the micro, and we are all just an echo of something or someone else’s influence.”

Everyone wants to understand themselves, right? Dirtbag Astrology attempts to explain you to yourself through tongue in cheek humour and multiple meme references. As a Virgo Moon, I can confirm that Blonde Algebra Lady is fairly representative of my emotional wellbeing.

This is a great starter book for astrology beginners, specially Gen Z. It scratches the surface and explains the basics, but doesn’t delve into the heavy in this book, with promises to continue in a sequel.

My favourite chapter “Mercury Gatorade” is a nice addition, and is part of what scratches the surface of astrology, explaining what a retrograde really is and why twitter explodes whenever one happens. Raise your hand if you have ever been personally victimized by gatorade.

Jokes aside, I liked the tone of the book and it would make a great addition to the bookshelf.

“Hopeless romantics. Lost in an illusion of their own making. Crying at the drop of a hat. Detached from reality. Creatures of myth who believe in magical orders and luck. Living in a detached reality where life is kinder and more mystical.” i’m a pisces and i agree with this except, being a pisces is draining you feel everything.

i agree with taurus as my partner is a taurus and extremely stubborn.

i like how the book goes through all of the stat signs and the description/personality traits. informative, fun easy read, was able to get through it in one day.
