The good one by Kate Randall.
The ones book 1.
An aspiring politician and a reporter looking to make a name for herself. Sparks fly, but secrets threaten to destroy them.
Kasey
Interviewing Senate hopeful Donovan Hayes is supposed to be my ticket to the byline. I assume he’s nothing more than a puff piece that looks good in a three-piece suit. I couldn’t have been more wrong.
His touch ignites a passion in me I didn’t know existed. But will being with him destroy my reputation and possibly end my career?
Donovan
Staying away from family embarrassment and winning this election are my main goals. It’s all going according to plan until I meet Kasey. I can’t help but picture her long legs wrapped around me with her taste on my lips. The fire between us is undeniable. And dangerous.
A faceless enemy threatens my family. Kasey is the next target. With a stalker closing in time is running out.
Omg. Absolutely brilliant read.  I loved the story. Kasey and Donovan were great together. Characters were well written.  I was shocked with who it was. Twisty. I'm looking forward to the next book. 5*.

Pretty good book.... Some humor, drama and a whole lot of hot scenes.... A reporter and a man running for state senator...sparks fly with these two....

This book was engaging and entertaining. The writing is alright, though the instant attraction feels a bit forced: they are irrevocably attracted in the middle of a press conference. Even though it's a bit much with insta-lust and Casey's inner voice sounds like a teenager instead of a grown woman, it's entertaining if you go in with the right expectations.

This is the first book I read from this author and I enjoy it.

This is an ultra-hot romance with sweet moments and some action in the final chapters. I loved the main charaters relationship. It’s super steamy.

In order for you to enjoy this book, you have to love insta-love and insta-lust. I wished there was a bit more storyline but all in all this was a good story. The spice in this book was just perfect for the storyline.

Overall, this was a great read and I highly recommend it for anyone who enjoys a sweet and spicy book with a happily ever after. This is Kate Randall’s debut novel, but I definitely can’t wait to see what she comes out with next!

I was one of the lucky people to get an ARC of this book.
I liked the book and the relationship between Kasey and Donovon.
It was a quick read and had a cute story line.
This book isn't a favorite, but I still enjoyed reading it.

I simply couldn’t get into this book. I tried, but there was just too much about it that didn’t sit right with me. I couldn’t understand why the two main characters would start a relationship when both were working toward advancing their careers and were leery of scandals. Finding out a reporter was romantically involved with a subject isn’t a good look for either party. I also couldn’t figure out why Donovan was responsible for cleaning up after his brother and keeping his reputation clear. Why would his brother’s actions reflect on him? And why wouldn’t their parents be the ones to deal with it? And if Donovan was so worried about a squeaky clean image then why did he willingly go to a sex club and hang out with his brother? And on and on. Yeah, there were just too many things I couldn’t get past. Sorry, but this one just wasn’t for me.

I really enjoyed this book. It was hard to put down as it drew me in immediately and before I knew it I was in the middle of the book!

A cute insta-love romance that tugs at the heartstrings while still being funny and relatable. Plus, there’s plenty of spice to go around in this book! What happens when the responsible ones finally let loose and give in to their wants and desires? That’s exactly what Kasey and Donovan are about to find out.

Kasey is the reporter charged with writing a fluff piece on the newest senatorial candidate. But when she finally gets a look at him and accidentally makes a fool of herself, she realizes he might be more than what she expected.

Donovan - the eldest, authoritative, charming, and completely smitten with the woman interviewing him. She brings out a side of him he thought he didn’t have. The side that wants to have fun with her in all the right ways.

The spice was great and the story itself took a turn I definitely wasn’t expecting! I’m generally pretty good at figuring out what the plot twist is early on and I did NOT see that one coming!. However, it felt like it took a while to get there. It got a little repetitive in parts and there were quite a few typos towards the end, but otherwise it was entertaining and fun to read!

This is the first book I read from this author and I quite enjoy it.
Kasey’s career as a journalist is supposed to be exiting, but nothing could be farther from the truth. Now she has to interview Senate hopeful Donovan Hayes. She assumes he’s nothing more than a puff piece that looks good in a three-piece suit. She couldn’t have been more wrong. His touch ignites a passion she didn’t know existed. In order to enjoy this book, you have to love insta-love and insta-lust. For me it was a bit too much sometimes. I wished for a bit more storyline or some obstacles. But the sex! SIGH…! I have to say, these two –and this author- know what they are doing!

DNF. I don't do this often but I just couldn't get into this one. Too slow. Sorry! I love a good spicy novel but this one was lacking.

DNF. Don’t get me wrong, I love spice in a book but it has to be done right. This just wasn’t it for me, the instant attraction was too fast so it lacked payoff when they got together. The dialogue had me cringing at times too.

Not for me, sorry.

Wow! This is a great debut for Kate Randall.

The soulmates trope is forever a good one. Kasey and Donovan clicked instantly, and it meant steamy and hot scenes for them as a result. I do think that they were a bit too intense at first, but as they grew on the page, it worked.

This story gets suspenseful about 50% in. I wish that tension/ suspense had started sooner, but the groundwork had to be laid. I'm excited to see the next in the series and know that as Randall grows as an author, these things will be hashed out and improved with each work.

One thing to note with first time authors, is that they're learning and need constructive feedback to improve.

DNF, this rating for me is rare but I just couldn’t get into the book, the characters were okay but uninteresting, I kept getting distracted. Maybe I’ll try again later.

Thank you NetGalley, and the publisher for sending me this arc to review.

I really loved Kasey and Donovan’s characters. They were so similar and really changed each other for the better (in my opinion). The spice in this book was just perfect for the storyline. I love a little action with my spice, so this book was just my type! The secondary characters were just as great as the main characters. Overall, this book was great and I highly recommend for anyone who enjoys a sweet, and spicy book with a happily ever after. This was Kate Randall’s debut novel, and I definitely can’t wait to see what she comes out with next!

Thank you to NetGalley for this arc.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book.
I thought it was generally really well written and I was impressed with the action-packed story line.

However, I thought the characters lacked some depth and I did find some of the dialogue a bit too cringe-worthy. Also, everything happened a little too quickly, I feel as though they barely got to know each other before they were confessing their love. For me, it just lacked that emotional connection I have with other characters. That being said this was a great debut novel and there were parts that I really loved.

Overall, I enjoyed reading this book and I am looking forward to Kate’s other books. An excellent debut novel.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for sending me an ARC for this book in exchange for an honest review.

So the premise of this book was really good and I feel like if it was written just a little bit better it would have been so much better.

Donovan is the son of a well-liked retired congressman and has decided he is going to follow in his fathers footsteps and run for Senator.

Kasey is a reporter and is assigned to interview and write about Donovan.

They hit it off at the interview and they’re both thinking about and attracted to each other. They both have younger siblings they can’t stop policing. Their siblings get them into some trouble at the end too.

Donovan’s younger brother is always getting into trouble and he’s always trying to keep it out of the press so their family name/image isn’t tarnished. Kasey’s younger sister is just a little reckless and Kasey is always acting like a mom to her.

It would have been cute if their siblings fell in love too considering the ending but who knows, maybe that will come in future books.

It was a little bit too insta-love for me. While insta-love can be great, it has to be done right. This was just a little too much. And the 🌶 scenes were pretty cringe sometimes. If these two things were rectified though I think it could have been a great book.

I will say though I thought the ending was going to be predictable but I honestly didn’t expect what happened. It was related to what I was thinking but completely different.

All in all very good for a debut author!

TW/CW: kidnapping, drugging, murder

Loved this book it was the right amount of smutty the right amount of love and understanding and most of all mystery without so much going on. It made it a super easy and quick read to enjoy .The ending is not only perfect but it clearly sets you up for more books to come which is exciting. I guess my only complaint is the bad words but i suppose I’m one in a million that gets bothered by bad language .. all in all a good book

Kasey is a reporter sent to interview an up-and-coming politician, Donovan. After scoring a one-on-one interview, they quickly become inseparable. I would say about the first half of the book is pure spice, but then the real plot comes into play.

Both Kasey and Donovan's siblings get them tied up in a scary situation. Donovan's brother is being stalked and Kasey's sister is investigating an upper class family with some dirty laundry. Their two stories overlap and Kasey realizes her sister has gone missing. Is she safe or is she next to disappear?

I really enjoyed this story. I love a good spicy scene and there was plenty of them! There's mystery, possible betrayal, a high-end sex club, and ultimately, a HEA.

TW: stalking, kidnapping, drugging.

Thank you Netgalley and Victory Editing for allowing me to read and review this title! All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I had received an email recommending this book and I thought "why not?" so I was happy with the approval and started on it right away.

Boy was I wrong... I stopped at 40% and I don't think I'll ever go back to finish the book.

Kasey is a reporter at the Philadelphia Sun and is given the job to set up an one-on-one interview with upcoming politician Donovan Hayes. Donovan is instantly turned on by Kasey when he first sees her and asks her out on a date the following weekend.

Donovan is a creep, in my personal opinion. Some people, like Kasey, might be able to ignore his stalker tendencies and his wince-inducing sexy talk, but I'm not one of those people. Kasey is totally fine when she leaves the interview to find texts from Donovan (she didn't give him her phone number - he got it from his PR rep), receives a bouquet of flowers at her job, and starts sexting with him about hours or a day later. All of this, right after her interview with him. I mean, my husband and I moved pretty quick in our relationship but sheesh this was fast.

My eyes hurt from the amount of eye-rolling I did from every one-liner Donovan said, to his constant use of pet names, and what he thinks is sexy talk but is honestly cringe. I think I even physically winced during their first sex scene.

Don't get me wrong though. I love books with sexy scenes in them but this was too painful for me to read. The writing could have been better, the characters have no development and felt super generic/bland. If you're in the mood for a book with just smut, I'd recommend something else.

1 star.
