At first I was unsure if I liked the title of 'scaredy squirrel', and the implication that our furry friend being afraid to visit Dr Vet made him 'inferior' - but, as the book played out I didn't find this to be an issue.

The illustrations are beautiful and with so much to discuss on each page, my daughter really lingered over the pictures and we were able to really enjoy talking about what was happening.

There are some lovely messages tied up in this story, and I especially loved how it ended with the techniques squirrel could use in the future when he feels afraid.

This is a lovely book and one that can easily be read over and over again.

Well having not really seen the point of the first Scaredy Squirrel book I came across, this is blatantly set to reassure the very young that going to the Doctors' is a perfectly OK thing. Desperate for a health certificate, our hypochondriac worrier plans to smuggle himself into the clinic quietly, which doesn't exactly go well – but can he pass the stringent checks on his body and mind and get passed fit to leave? It's bold, it's an easy read, and it does parallel the junior reader's worries nicely, but having him such an OTT character doesn't make this the best approach to the same effect I've seen.

I found this book awkward to read/review on my Kindle, could not resize the text. It was confusing and the message did not come across very well.

I give 2 star rating.

I WANT TO THANK NETGALLEY FOR THE OPPORTUNITY OF READING AN ADVANCED COPY OF THIS BOOK FOR AN HONEST REVIEW. MY OPINIONS ARE MY OWN.

Thank you so much NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of this book in exchange of my opinion.

This book is everything! Not only the illustrations are stunning, bright, colourful and fun, but the story is just too cute!

We all have been nervous and stressed when we have to visit the doctor, so I completely understand where Scaredy Squirrel is coming from!

This story will definitely help lots of kids with the fear and the nervousness that the experience comes with and it will also show them how important it is to check that everything is okay every now and then!

I like the scaredy squirrel stories more and more. All designed to ease children’s anxieties in specific situations. And all done with humour and illustrated with cute pictures. Simply done and effective. Also a great present for a little one.

Another cute book in the Scaredy Squirrel series. This book could help kids deal with any anxiety they may feel towards doctors offices and hospitals.

Melanie Watt does it again with her hilarious and fun Scaredy Squirrel series that addresses anxiety and mental health issues in a positive and humorous way. If you've never heard of Scaredy Squirrel before, he has some pretty bad anxiety about a lot of things that turn out usually to not be life threatening. His worries are pretty common kid worries, in this case he is worried about visiting the doctor, but they are so over dramatic and intense that they give children an outlet for their own fears and worries because they know he is just a silly squirrel. Most importantly, at the end Scaredy Squirrel realizes that visiting the doctors office isn't a bad thing, it can actually make you feel pretty good! If you've read any of her other works, you might already know that you've gotta grab Watt's latest book, but if you're new to this wonderful author, let me just tell you, she's Canadian, she's funny and creative, and she writes beautiful and entertaining children's books that young people can't get enough of. As a grade 3 teacher, I would definitely recommend this book to families and teachers of children ages 4-9 and look forward to purchasing a copy of this book to add to my collection once it is published. I so appreciate Netgalley and the publisher for giving me the opportunity to read and review an advance copy of this wonderful children's book.
