A friend and I binge listened this month to the first four Nikki Hunt books (expertly narrated by Kate Hanford) when I was granted an advance reader copy of this fifth book in the series by NetGalley. I was excited to see where the newest installment would take us. Nikki has to handle tension with Tyler’s parents over Lacey’s custody while investigating a perplexing (and gruesome) triple homicide. It was a bit of a head scratcher from start to end so my hat is off to Stacy Green for a well crafted murder mystery investigation. I’m looking forward to the next book!

Nikki Hunt is back again in Book 5 in the series. The Trapped Ones starts off with a girl running through the woods and reaching a house, shortly after Nikki Hunt is called to the premises where three people are murdered and a fourth is hanging on to life, it is now a crime scene and it’s Nikki and her team’s job to find out what has happened and who the murder is!

I have loved every Nikki Hunt book I have read so far and this did not disappoint me, it was full of suspense, twists and turns and it kept me guessing until the end. I feel like I know Nikki personally now as I have followed her for so long. It is such a good series. I am eagerly awaiting the next instalment.

If you are new to reading the Nikki Hunt series, I would suggest reading the books in order as there is a backstory and each book follows on from the next with little to no time passing in between them.

Book 5 in the series and it was great.

I was totally hooked before the end of the first chapter.

The plot is quite dark with a plot line some people may struggle with.

I had no idea who it was so it kept me gripped til the end.

I love this series and I'm already looking forward to reading the next one.

This is book #5 in the Nikki Hunt series. Whilst it is part of a series it can easily be read as a standalone book. FBI Special Agent Nikki Hunt is called to help on a crime scene where the bodies of three people have been found and another seriously injured. I’ve read the previous books in the series, so know Nikki’s backstory, but it’s safe to say that she has had a difficult time in her personal life recently and yet she’s such a strong character who keeps getting back up, dusting herself off and doing what she does best!

The book begins straight into the action with a young woman running for her life! It did leave me a little perplexed as to where this fitted into the storyline, but everything becomes clear as the book moves on. I love Nikki’s character, she’s such a clever problem solver, but somehow even this case has her stumped! If she can’t work out what was going on, how on earth was we supposed to, and I was kept captivated as the story continued. As I read, I was gripped by the storyline of the Weber family and what had happened to them. As it’s based in America, there are some references, mainly to college Fraternity and Sorority houses, which I didn’t quite understand as we don’t really have those in the UK. Nonetheless, the characters, setting and investigation held my interest throughout, and I found myself trying to put all the pieces of the puzzle together.

Whilst we got to hear about some of Nikki’s personal struggles, the storyline mainly focussed on the investigation. I did feel for Nikki though and am interested to see what happens next with the situation with her daughter and her parents in law. The investigation does feature some upsetting scenes featuring the abuse of women, but this is all in context with the storyline. This is a book filled with so many lies, distrust, tension and suspense and there were lots of twists and turns keeping you on your toes as it unravels all the secrets that have been hidden. Cleverly written with a great twist at the end, I’d definitely recommend not just this book but the whole series!

When Special Agent Nikki Hunt was called to the Weber’s home, which was surrounded by the nearby woods, her shock at the four people inside, three of whom were dead and one fighting for life, Nikki had no idea what she was confronting. Was it a serial killer? Was it a break and enter gone wrong? As Nikki worked with her partner, Liam, to uncover the truth, there were many theories, but none which quite made sense. Bryce Weber was in an induced coma. He was a top swimmer at the university and as she and Liam questioned his friends, they could see an unnerving culture was in the background. Jessica Chandler was the young woman killed, and she’d been missing before the murders were discovered. The situation was puzzling – with little to go on, could Nikki and her team discover the killer before another person was killed?

The Trapped Ones is the 5th in the Nikki Hunt series by Stacy Green and wow! This one was a doozy! I had no idea who the perpetrator was – I had guesses but was way off base. When the reveal came, I was shocked! Nikki Hunt is an exceptional character, and her daughter, six-year-old Lacey, is cute while her partner Rory is very supportive. I’m thoroughly enjoying this series (and recommend it being read in order) and am looking forward to the next one already. Highly recommended.

With thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my digital ARC to read in exchange for an honest review.

Another crime to solve for Nikki Hunt, and it is pretty gruesome.
Three people dead and one in hospital. Murder suicide, could be. But facts about this case don’t seem to be adding up, and there seems no real reason. Two of the Murdered are parents of the one who is in hospital, the other victim has links to the survivor. Doesn’t seem like a clear cut case for Nikki to solve.
Piecing all the evidence together, and proving it all is going to be hard, but Nikki can do it. As all the pieces fall into place we catch our killer. But who is it?
Read on for an epic ending that you won’t see coming.
I received an eARC from Netgalley and the publishes, this is my honest review.

I am always so excited to read the latest Nikki Hunt book! She is such a badass detective and mom, and I feel like these books are like watching some of the best Law and Order episodes. This book was just as good as the others. It was a quick fun read and I’m already excited for the next book in the series! I received a free copy of this book from netgalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

Another great read in this series.
Nikki is looking for a missing girl but when she’s found dead along with three other people, she’s asked to take on the full case.
Jessica has been murdered but Nikki and Liam can’t work out what she was doing at the family home of a student.
As the investigation gathers pace it’s clear Bryce was accused of raping Jessica, but how did it end up with her dead and him in a coma?
This is a gripping crime thriller with a great investigation that definitely had me hooked.
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.

Nikki is back on the job when a slaughter scene is discovered in a remote house. There is one survivor, but he’s not conscious. The mystery involves college kids, a frat, and lots of clues that just don’t fit together. Nikki a,so worries about her ex in laws and her daughter.
It’s an action packed plot with the Body count rising and certain characters were quite squirrelly.
Green has a clever plot twist toward the end that reveals the whole story.
Always watch your back and never assume anything.

Another twisty tale from the keyboard of Stacy Green! I have really been enjoying the Nikki Hunt series, it has to be said.

Nikki tries to figure out what on earth is going on at the Weber house. Parents dead, son in critical condition in hospital, and an unknown girl also dead, hands bound. She is still recovering from the death of her ex-husband so the murder scene is even more confronting than usual. Nevertheless, she is up to the task.

Together with her partner Liam, and an amazing forensic tech, Courtney, they start investigating. What they uncover is truly horrifying and trying to tell truth from lies is no easy task. Inbetween everything else, Nikki is trying to keep custody of her little girl. She has a really supportive partner in Rory though, and his parents are also very kind.

Lots of things going on here, and I did not figure out what was going on until the author revealed it!

4.5 stars from me.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture.

So I picked this series up on book two and have been a fan ever since and this book five proved to be another fab edition to the series.

In this edition to the series Nikki and Co are tasked with solving a triple homicide that just keeps getting weirder and deeper and makes no sense at all.

Written with the usual flare that I have come to expect from Stacy Green a gripping, intense engaging read that kept me hooked from the first page and the final reveal was not what I was expecting at all.

It's fair to say FBI Special Agent Nikki Hunt is well known for solving difficult and unexpected cases. This time however, she's going to need all her experience to deal with one the most complex she's had to deal with so far. Arriving at a large, fairly isolated, house she finds it hides a crime so awful seasoned officials leave the scene grey faced and without their lunch.

An Olympic level athlete is left fighting for his life possibly unaware that both his parents are dead along with a young student who had recently been reported missing. With the real chance of a serial killer once again on Nikki's radar her team joins forces with local detectives to try and find out what happened before anyone else dies. No-one is totally blameless their entire lives and soon it becomes apparent the outwardly happy Weber family is no different.  As secrets are revealed and possible culprits identified Nikki faces the possibility of losing more than anyone should have to even consider.

This is the fifth in the Nikki Hunt series and once again author Stacy Green has written a belter!  After four previous books the main protagonists are as familiar and likeable as ever, the story flows unhindered, and is easy to get lost in, which I definitely did. It starts with a bang and there is very little down time for anyone involved until a shocking resolution I absolutely didn't see coming. There are some brilliant crime series available at the moment; this is definitely one of them.

I was able to read an advanced copy of this book thanks to NetGalley and the publishers but the opinions expressed are my own. This is a great read and although it can be read as a standalone it would be a shame not to experience all five so far.

The Trapped Ones is the fifth book in the Nikki Hunt Series. I have loved all the others thus far and this one is no exception.
In this installment, police are called to a home where there are three murder victims and another victim in grave condition. The most curious aspect being that one of the murder victims has also previously been reported missing.
The story includes murder, fraternity life, crimes against women as well as Nikki's own personal story. Trying to solve these murders and dealing with a pending custody case has Nikki burning the candle at both ends.
The characters were true to form and I always enjoy reading what is next in Nikki's own life.
If you have not read this series, do yourself a favor and check it out. You will not be disappointed.

Many thanks to netgalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to preview this book.

For Too Long, Privilege Meant No Accountability

Jessica is being chased through the woods at night. She is bleeding from her head. She makes for a house and bangs on the sliding glass window. I woman answers but is reluctant at first to let her in. The next morning, Nikki Hunt is out for a walk and receives a call from Kent Miller, a local Sheriff, asking for her assistance. When Nikki and her partner, Liam, arrive at the scene, they learn that the victims were a husband and wife, the homeowners, their son who was in critical condition, and a young coed, Jessica. From this start a very complex investigation begins.

The main storyline consists of one thread narrated by Nikki Hunt. As the only survivor, Bryce, is in an induced coma, there are not any eye witnesses to the crime. The investigation turns difficult quite quickly. Bryce lives at a fraternity house whose members are quite tight knit. Bryce is a celebrity because of his swimming prowess. His single-occupancy room is locked, and Bryce’s uncle, a lawyer, shows up at the fraternity and tells Nikki that she cannot enter his room without a warrant. The investigation continues trying to find anyone with information connecting Bryce and Jennifer. While information is collected, they do not paint a consistent picture. My interest was quickly captured. The many twists and turns kept my interest all the way to the end.

The B-storyline has one supporting thread throughout the novel. This thread consists of a custody suit by the parents of her deceased husband over her young daughter. As the underlying basis is that Nikki’s demanding job adversely affects her ability to be a mother. This thread and its effect on Nikki’s actions as an FBI Special Agent made her character more realistic and enhanced my reading enjoyment. If you have not read the previous novels in this series, I believe, that should not stop from reading this novel first as adequate background is provided to understand this thread without the feeling that you missed anything.

As for intimacy, there is none, but crimes against women play a significant part in this novel. The frustration of the women who can not have the cases taken seriously is quite evident. Rude, not vulgar, language and some impious language are present but at a low level. While the violence is described after the fact, it was the victims reflecting upon crimes against them. I found it quite edgy. These aspects should not be objectionable to most readers, but be forewarned.

This novel has all of my criteria for a high star rating. The main storyline is complex, with many twists and turns that captured and kept my interest up to the end. The ending cleared up all the loose ends including how the murders occurred. This satisfied my sense for justice. Lastly, I could not stop reading even late into the night. I had a hard time putting it down. I have read the of the four previous novels in this series. I have purchased the one I have not read and two earlier books. Stacy Green is one of my Must-Read authors. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this novel. I am looking forward to reading further books/series by the author. I rate this novel with five stars.

I received a free e-book version of this novel through NetGalley from Bookouture. My review is based only by my own reading experience of this book. I wish to thank Bookouture for the opportunity to read and review this novel early.

would like to thank netgalley and the publisher for letting me read this brilliant book

3 murders and the fourth victim in a coma, there are more questions than answers, but hunt has to figure out if its the work of a serial killer or an opportune home invasion that went seriously wrong

nikki hunt has her work cut out for her...and trying her patience is the uncle of the only surviving witness who is stonewalling them

as the police start looking into the assault on the this family a more sinister reason comes to light, one that will blow the minds of the university and people around town...could this be the reason why the uncle is covering everything up

couldnt put this book down at all...the hits keep coming with this book and it was nice to catch up with nikki to see how she is coping with all that she has been through with her daughter

cant wait for the next one in this fabulous series

Another thrilling read from this series! I love Nikki! Can't wait for the next one!

Really enjoyable story and a great read! I always enjoy digging deep into Nikki Hunt's life and all the people in it. This case is puzzling, because a family has been stabbed, the boy is barely alive. Nikki and the team start digging, and it seems like the frat boys at the university are not as politically correct, and the more the team digs the more dirt they find about everyone.

The ending took me by surprise, but then again, I think it is sadly one that could "easily" happen when things get out of hand. Money and power can get you far, but what you do can traumatize others to the point that there is nothing left in life but the trauma.

I like the at the same time realistic and caricature characters in the book. An excellent addition to this addictive series!

This newest edition of the Nikki Hunt series does not disappoint. Green has created a great mystery with a twist at the end. When Nikki arrives at the scene of a triple murder and one attempted murder, the tragic ending of a family is emotionally overwhelming. With no obvious suspects and the lone survivor in an medically induced coma, Nikki and her team are chasing down every lead but finding only dead ends. As she draws closer to the killer, the pace quickens as you anticipate the surprise ending.

Once again, love myself a Stacy Green novel with her FBI agent Nikki Hunt. This mystery/thrillers are always such a fun and easy read and I continue to find myself wrapped up in Nikki's life.

Throughout the series Stacy Green always has a mystery that needs to be figured out as well as continuing Nikki's personal life story. This allows for there to be no disconnect from one book to the next. I read through the first three novels one after the other and loved the ride.

I can't wait for more books in this series and to see where Nikki's life leads. I recommend for people who enjoy quick mystery thrillers. I am tempted to say a comfy mystery since I adore the main character but there are some awful scene from the crimes.

Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for the chance to read an advanced copy of The trapped ones which is bk 5 of the Nikki Hunt series by Stacy Green. This is another of my favorite thriller series and is always fast-paced with enough twists to keep you guessing. Special Agent Nikki Hunt is called to a triple homicide with all the markings of a serial killer. Nikki has to unravel all the clues, and when two more people go missing Nikki has to wonder what is really going on. Nikki has to stay focused even though she is dealing with a custody issue with her daughter. I totally recommend this series!!!
