I loved it! The second in the Always a Scot series does not disappoint, from the first page to the last you will be spellbound by Lady Scot. Jade Lee weaves a story from beginning to end with threads of strong emotions, uncertainties and angst. It's a well-written romance with characters that come off the pages and pull you into their emotional ride that keeps you involved until the very end, sizzling passion, snappy dialogue, and with one fantastic plot that leaves you eagerly anticipating the next in the series.

This is a first time read for me by this author and I was not disappointed. It is the second book in the Always a Scot series, so that means I need to go back and read the first one I missed! Connall and Mairi have known each other since childhood and Connall has always been in love with her. Mairi has had enough of Scotsmen and goes off to London to find an English husband. After loving her all these years, Connall is determined to make Mairi see that they belong together and follows her to London. Mairi is feisty, independent, and determined and takes the London Season by storm. She is looking for a husband who will allow her to have her independence and love doesn't factor into her plans at all. She holds her emotions at bay and doesn't allow herself to feel the emotional connection with Connall. It's only when their lives are in danger that she faces her fears and allows herself to feel the love that's been there all along. I enjoyed the adventures these two had and following their bumpy path to love. Both were great characters with wonderful chemistry and the dialogue between them was witty and fun to read. This was a well-written, wild and passionate love story I enjoyed reading. I look forward to reading more of the series.

I received a complimentary copy from Dragonblade Publishing via Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.

2nd book of a series but works as a standalone. Mairi was promised to another, but when he brought home another bride, she decided to go to London to find a husband. Connall has loved Mairi all his life, but when she runs off, he gives chase. When he catches up, she challenges him to a contest to see who would find a spouse first.

ARC via Net Galley. All opinions are my own.

Entertaining, Scottish, Historical Romance

Mairi is a feisty lady who chooses her own path, but doing so is not as easy as she thinks. Why does Mairi go to London to find an English groom when the man she loves is a Scot? Is she terrified of love? She will deny it if you put the question to her. What happens when Connall pursues her all the way to London? Does he convince her that he is the right man for her? This is a delightful story, full of adventure and romance. We meet secondary characters that add more dimension to the story, and I look forward to finding out what happens in their lives. I enjoyed this story and would recommend it to lovers of Scottish historical romance.

Scotland to London

Mairi was determined to go to London and have her season. She was done with the Scots.. after all she had been promised to one man since they were children and he had up and married another.
Although she made it, she had a few little incidences along the way!

Connal finds out Mairi has fled to London and goes after her. He has loved her forever and wants her to marry him! No Englishman could handle that Scottish lass anyway! He just has to convince her...

A delightful journey that will take them on many a turn, with Mairi needing to find trust and love and Connal being sweet and supportive.. Of yes, they might just find happiness!

Connall Aberbeag has loved Mairi MacAdaidh practically all his life, even when she was supposed to be betrothed to his brother Liam. When Liam married someone else, Connall hoped he could win Mairi’s heart, but she decided she would rather go to London to find an English husband. Connall followed her, determined to make her his.

Connall is keeping his eye on Mairi as well as his cousin and her friend. The three girls may claim to be ready for English life and English husbands, but I doubt England is ready for them. Their trip to and visit in London is full of adventure, a little danger, and a lot of fun. Connall is watchful and protective, and patient to a fault, especially with Mairi. She fights her feelings for Connall in part because she is disappointed and hurt by what happened with her betrothal, and is afraid to trust her heart to anyone. There are a few missteps and a confrontation with a vengeful suitor, in Vauxhall Gardens of all places, but Mairi finally come to understand Connall’s feelings for her and hers for him, and everyone agrees it’s about time. Enjoyable story with entertaining and likeable characters. Now I wonder why Reuben Bates is hiding in Lady Iseabail’s bedroom. Looking forward to that story.

I received an ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. My review is voluntary.

Mairi MacAdaidh sneaks away to London to have a season and find an English husband. There is nothing left for her in Scotland. Connell Aberbeag diagrees. He has loved her for ten years, but she won't say yes to being his wife. What he doesn't understand is why? He follows her to London for answers, he is not giving up. What happens when an encounter goes wrong and the consequences of being taken by surprise?
A friends to lovers trope with one hot determined Scott and comic relief from two young ladies and a countess.

An excellent read about a feisty woman and the man who loves her. Witty and sassy exchanges as well as sweet loving moments between the two. Secondary characters are also intriguing enough for two more novels to come.

I received an ARC of this book and leaving my review voluntarily.

Many historic romance novels do not go anywhere and tend to fall into never ending mundane dialogues and events, but I have quite enjoyed this one from the beginning to the end. It was funny and had passionate built up. Especially it was nice to read about Scots.

The tease of the third book was quite good and I cannot wait to read it when it becomes available.

Thanks Netgalley for the free copy in exchange of the honest review.

Mairi MacAdaidh knew exactly how her life was going to go, and who her husband was going to be. That was until he found someone else to love. Now she has decided that any boring Englishman would be better than the emotional turmoil a certain Scotsman causes.

Our heroine knows that a deep love, causes a deep pain that lasts forever. That is far to terrible to give in to.

Connall Aberbeag has waited years for the woman he wants, but she only sees him as a friend. Our hero knows just how independent Mairi is, and that he has to allow her the freedom of a season in London. Unfortunately that could put her far from home and in danger.

An amusing and at times emotional historical romance, filled with fabulous characters. Patience might be a virtue, but can only be pushed so far before emotions make it fail.

This is the second book in a series that is really good fun. You don't have to have read the previous book to enjoy this one, but it might help you understand our heroine better if you have.

Great fun.

Lady Scot by Jade Lee is a Highlander novel, which mostly takes place in London. Mairi is determined to find a husband. She doesn't want a Highlander. They are self-important, ignorant, and stubborn. She wants a mild-mannered Englishman. She was meant to marry, Liam, the Laird, but her up and married an Englishwoman. She had been chatelaine of his castle for many years and now she was back in her father's glassworks. She was supposed to go, it was all arranged. Then things came up. But, she was stubborn, too. She would go on her own and present herself to the countess who was to be her sponsor. She had a dowry. She had been saving for years. It had been converted to copper chains, all of which were in her valise, only one around her neck, under her clothing. She left in the middle of the night. It was not a pleasant ride, but it was only two days. Upon her arrival she need directions to the home of the countess. While she was inquiring, she set her valise at her feet, where a small boy promptly stole it. She chased him but was not able to find him and was more lost than ever.

There was another man. He was to be a duke. He had loved Mairi for years but she appeared to hate him. He followed her to London, hoping to change her mind. If Mairi thought Highlanders were stubborn, that translated to Highland women as well. She refused to marry Connall. She didn't know why, at least overtly. As it turns out, she did know why. She loved him too much and refused to take a chance with her heart. What if something happened to him, like it had her mother? She wouldn't chance it. It was easy to feel her pain. She was not a woman an Englishman would want, and it showed. She lost her sparkle the longer she stayed. And it showed. And it hurt. Bother her and the reader. It many ways this was a very painful book. There seemed to be plenty to go around.

Lady Scot is the second edition in the "Always a Scot" series by Jade Lee, and while I did not read the first book in this series, this novel can be read as a standalone. I found this to be a fairly enjoyable novel, it is quick paced, well written and quickly engaging. The novel has many interesting characters that help to guide the story while setting up future romances. I think Jade Lee does a nice job of unraveling the love story between the main hero and heroine and setting up some heroine's for the novels that will be forthcoming. I do think that perhaps with reading the first novel in this series I would have gotten some further glimpses and insight to the hero and heroine of this novel which might have provided a different depth to their love story, but overall I was not confused by their past relationship and where we meet them in this novel.

Mairi has decided that she is down with Scotsmen and runs off to London on her own seeking the help of a countess to help her navigate London society and find a sassanach husband. Connall has loved Mairi forever and he knows now might be his last chance to secure their future, so he swiftly follows after her and then is also obligated to bring along two other women to London in hopes of finding husbands this London season.

In this novel Jade Lee balances the three women preparing for a London season and Connall's attempted courtship of Mairi, even though he claims he is also in London to find himself and English bride. With all these moving pieces the story really clips along swiftly and we jump moment to moment in this novel. The moments that focused on Mairi and Connell's interactions were really sweet and heartwarming. Connell feels so sure of his love for Mairi that he tries to find ways to bring her out of her shell as well as trying to meet her where she is in her feelings. Mairi is working through her understanding of love and the pain that love can bring when it is stolen prematurely from someone, and this is the real conflict between their relationship and why she has a hard time surrendering herself to Connell. I think that Connell's dedication and determination when it comes to his love is done in a really lovely and consensual way, he never pushes Mairi past what she is ready to give and that shows a really nice understanding that Connell has for Mairi. The steam level on this novel is on the lower side, but I do love that Mairi, while a virgin, is not innocent to the ways she can give herself pleasure.

Overall, a sweet heartwarming novel about two people who have loved each other for a long time realizing that love is all that matters and that you must embrace it when you find it and cherish it while it lasts. I am definitely interested in continuing on in the series, Lee definitely leaves the reader wanting for the next book.

London is not big enough to hold the three Highland lasses that take the season by storm. At their head, Mairi MacAdaidh leads the way, forcing Connall to bring his cousin and a family acquaintance with him when going after Mairie, who has left her home in a fit of pique. Connall has been attracted to Mairi since he was a young lad, but there is something holding Mairi back, to the extent that she will assuage all emotional connections rather than face the real issue that is blocking the way forward with Connall. It is only when their lives are at risk that she finally comes to a place where she is willing to put her heart on the line. This novel is witty and a fun read, coming to a happy conclusion. I received a copy of this romance as a gift through Dragonblad Publishing and NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.

Mairi was promised to Liam since she was a child, but now that he has married she is determined to go to London and find herself and Englishman.
Connall has loved Mairi since they were children. He is the future duke and laird but he ruined this with Mairi when they were adolescents. Losing her heart and his best friend. When Mairi leaves for London on the mail coach alone he has no choice but to follow.
I liked Connall a whole lot. He was fun and patient. He was sorry for his past actions but willing to give Mairi a choice.
Mairi's reluctance bugged me even with her reason why but I do appreciate a woman that makes a man earn her hand.
I can't wait for the next 2 books in the series.

20 years is a long time to deny love. At 28 years old, Mairi Mcadaidh had known her life. She was promised to the Laird of the Mcleal Clan at birth, but then Liam went and chose another. After 10 years serving as Chatelaine of the castle, she was now left without any of the responsibilities she’d been raised to perform. Adrift without purpose she decides to create a life for herself where she can be strong and independent without any of the risks of her strong emotions. When she runs off to London for the season she was denied, Connall Aberbeag has no choice but to follow. The future Duke and Laird of the Aberbeag Clan, he has loved Mairi since she was 6 years old and he would not allow her to run from her heart or his love.
The selfless love Connall has for Mairi is absolutely adoring. He strengthens her and picks her up like no one else exists. Loving her enough to stand by and assist while she fights her feelings. He just continues to support her. He gives her the time she needs to realize what was always in her heart. Mairi has always been afraid of love, seeing it as heartbreak and nothing more. Jade Lee writes Scottish pride like no other. Mairi exudes the most famous Scottish traits, pride, stubbornness & fierceness. Everything she feels is extreme and thus forces her to run until finally she sees the power that can only come from selfless unending love. The only negative in this story is the ending, because now we have to wait to see what will happen next for Miss Iseabail Spalding.

This is the second book in the series by Jade Lee of “Always A Scot” offering us the story of Mairi MacAdaidh and Connall Aberbeag. Mairi has decided that she needs to marry, so off she goes to London to find an untroublesome Sassenach. That does set well with Connall, who has loved a certain lady his entire life. So, after the sheep shearing, he goes to London to offer her protection, by taking her to the activities that the social set provides during the season. However, he did not prepare for the adventures that await him. What an adventure these two have as he tries to persuade her that he wants and loves her with all his heart. Mairi is nothing but feisty lass determined to do things her way. I enjoyed their adventures, and I am looking forward to the next journey Jade provides us to read.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I have been a fan of Jade Lee since the Lords Of The Masquerade trilogy. Lady Scot is the second book in the spin-off series Always A Scot. Although this book can be read as a stand-alone, I recommend reading at least the first book in this series as it sets up Mairi’s background.

Connall Aberbeag and Mairi MacAdaidh have been dancing around each other since childhood. Connall has been in love with Mairi forever. Mairi had a different plan for her life until her world got turned upside down. Mairi decides she wants a biddable English husband; Connall chases Mairi to London to make her see he is the man she loves. Mairi has many doubts and tragedies in her past that makes her distrust her feelings toward Connall. The couple meet in a battle of wills; the winner will decide their fates.

I liked how Connall is flawed, yet he owns it. Connall has infinite patience with Mairi, even when she confounds and aggravates him. Connall fights for Mairi. Mairi’s stubbornness is her worse enemy. I admired Mairi’s grit and determination, even when it was misplaced. Both characters were dynamic and lovable. The couple’s energy was perfect, and their connection was off-the-charts.

The storyline centered mostly around Mairi’s inner conflict regarding her feelings towards Connall. There are many exciting and amusing secondary characters. Some characters were introduced whom I feel will get their books. The plot flowed well and kept my interest. It was easy to read and was a quick read. I am always delighted with Jade Lee’s romances. She has again created an engaging, passionate romance.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book through Netgalley and the publisher. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Mairi MacAdaidh is done with Scotsmen. She’s off to London to find a manageable Sassenach to wed. Connall Aberbeag has loved one woman for the whole of his life, and she’s a feisty, frustrating lass determined to go her own way. It’s not right that a future duke must chase the woman he wants all the way to London, but that’s what he does. He faces down highwaymen and fops, greedy women and his own wayward cousin only to find that Mairi is immune to all his persuasions.
The second book in the series but it’s easily read on its own even though we did meet them in the previous book. I thoroughly enjoyed this book even though I came to it not particularly liking Mairi but my opinion did change the more I read. I did love Connall & at first wondered what he saw in Mairi! As well as a lovely love story of friends finding love there’s highwaymen, murder to add that little bit extra. I started this book thinking it would be an OK read but the more I read the more I was drawn in until I found it very hard to put down & read it in two sittings
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
