Wow! This story packs a wallop. It’s a myriad maze, down one path, then down another, and back again. Dani constantly questions her sanity and I began to question mine as well. So many lies and so much subterfuge. The cause: money and lots of it. I was on high alert as I began this book because I knew things were off, just from the description.
Read this book and then collect your senses; you’ll need to confirm you’re all there.

I wasn’t keen on this book at all to be honest, I found the plot quite unbelievable in places, and I’m afraid I couldn’t finish it.

Fast paced and gripping with twists and unpredictability that kept me guessing right up until the end. I was completely hooked and couldn't put it down.

‘The Adoption’ by Jenna Kernan is a tense domestic thriller about Dani Sutton, recently released from a psychiatric hospital who has been thrust into motherhood. As a result of a sever auto accident, Dani has facial blindness and relies on voices and markers to identify those around her. But as Dani tries to settle into a routine, she finds not everything is at it seems. She wonders, is she sane or is someone out to get her and her baby?

Overall, this book was well written and tense. The first half, I felt Dani’s vulnerability and, while I first thought it was a bit repetitive in places, I wonder if that was done on purpose by Kernan to help the reader feel what it was like for Dani as she tried to cope with returning home. As I read the book, and the interactions with the characters I found myself quite uneasy. I didn’t know who to trust. Could I even trust Dani? And this made for an engaging story.

The second half of the book was fast paced and I found myself wanting to see what happens next. I really enjoyed the rising tension towards the climax. I also liked that the reader could speculate on what might be happening, and mirror Dani’s journey to find the truth. Kernan has crafted a taught thriller and I think it will have wide appeal for audiences who enjoy domestic thrillers.

Wow! Starts a little slow, but just keeps getting better! A fantastic book - really enjoyed the story, and by the middle couldn’t put it down until I saw how it ended! Great read!!!!

ENJOYABLE.
WELL where should I start with this one? The story is about Dani and her husband, Tate, their life is perfect they've everything except a baby because of Dani did a terrible car accident in her past and therefore has lost the ability to become a mom and now they've applied for adoption which is accepted and they adopted little Willow. All was going well but one night she ( Dani ) woke up to find that baby cot empty. Slowly she realises what happened on the day of the accident and she realises that everyone in her life is a liar but why? What would she do to protect her little baby?
It was a good concept but the first part was really alow and at some points i stopped caring about what happened on the day of the accident. I just wanted to know where Willow is.
But if you can bear slow first half then it will be ok because the second part is pacey. So I think it's a good novel. Give it a try by ignoring first slow part.
Although I think Tate's character should've described more in detail but no worries, if ending is good then i don't care.

The premise to this book sounded great, and I was eager to read it. It moved slowly in the beginning half and was quite repetitive. I stuck with it, and the ending half was much more intriguing, however the turns felt too dramatic and implausible. Others may enjoy this read but for me it was disappointing. I really wanted to like this book. The concept was really great. I think for me the biggest obstacle was that there were too many repetitive informative details in the first half. I felt like I wasn’t trusted to remember what I’d just read in the previous chapter, so it was given to me over and over again and it took away from my ability to really get into the story. It also made the first half of the book drag really slowly because the repetition took away from building the plot. The story started to pick up a lot by the second half and got me really interested to see where it would go, but then there was too much going on too fast that it also took away from the experience.
I think this book would have been much more enjoyable if we had spent less of the first half reading details of Dani’s disabilities over and over again and all the action from the second half was spread out over more of the chapters.
