This is a great read for upper elementary and middle-school-aged kids. The humor is spot on for that demographic as is the plot line. As a teacher of this age group, I appreciate the author's accuracy in capturing the unique thoughts and conclusions of middle school students. This book will keep even reluctant readers engaged and turning the pages!

I enjoyed this story with all of the characters within. The main characters were Harvey, Stella and Nevaeh.

Harvey, Stella and Nevaeh are on a mission to find out if there is a curse with the lost and found box. Nevaeh think there is a logical explanation to it. But the more that they see they all started to wonder if the lost and found box is curse.Strangeville Middle school is totally hysterical this time around. This is the second book in the series.

This was a fun story to read. It had action, adventure, and suspense throughout. It had laughs and giggles within.

I received a complimentary copy via Netgalley. This is my honest unbiased opinions.

Strangeville School is Definitely Not Cursed is a sequel I had received an ARC of earlier this year (or maybe it was last year). In this one, the children are dealing with a school legend about the Lost and Found box that definitely is not cursed. Did you hear me? I said it's NOT CURSED. It still has funny parts and reminds me of Nightvale for Kids, but I liked the first one better.

Note: I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley. I was not compensated in any other fashion for the review and the opinions reflected below are entirely my own. Special thanks to the publisher and author for providing the copy.

It was a really good story for students that are getting into chapter books. I wish I would have read the first book before! I would definitely recommend this book for 3rd or 4th graders or a higher level 2nd grader!

My son loves adventure books and silly humor, so this was a good fit for a bedtime read for him. He definitely wants to read the next book in the series when it's published. My son is at the stage where his reading level is high enough that he could have read this book on his own but he gets intimidated by larger books without illustrations. So, this book is nice that there are some illustrations throughout the book, making it a pretty good match for him. (And he did read the first Strangeville book to himself.) My son chose the star rating and took off one star because he thought one part of the book, with a minor character, went from fun silliness to eye-rolling.

I would have loved this book as a kid with its weirdness and the most capable people in the book being girls. It was mildly entertaining as an adult.

Thanks for Netgalley for the review copy.

This is an Early Middle Grade Humor Fantasy, and this is the second book in the Strangeville School series. I have read and reviewed the first book in this series. This is a series that I read with my daughter. My daughter and I take turns reading this book out loud while in the car drop off lane. My boys loved this book. I really enjoy this series, and let me just say that it makes me smile and laugh so many times. There were some really cool pictures in this book too, and my kids loved the pictures in this book. I loved the characters, but the storyline in this book pulled me right into it. I loved the ending, and I cannot wait to read the next book. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Random House Books for Young Readers) or author (Darcy Miller) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

Note: I have since brought a copy of this book.

While I had not read the first installment of the Strangeville School series prior to starting this, it is safe to say that I will be rectifying that immediately.

There were so, so many elements of this story that I enjoyed. The humor throughout, and the overall story just made my heart so happy. For anyone that is familiar with the Welcome to Nightvale podcast series, you will. Immediately be drawn into the hilariously dry humor, and the air of normalcy that is spread throughout this very NOT normal book.

To say I loved this off the wall middle grade book would almost be an understatement. I will be making sure to keep up with this series as new installments release, and I truly cannot wait for the next!

Truly a very rare 5/5 for me.

Fans of the Wayside School series may also enjoy Strangeville School is Not Cursed by Darcy Miller. In Strangeville School, strange things begin to happen such as flooding in the hallways and a glowing lost-and-found box is discovered in the cafeteria. Are these strange events related to a 50 year-old curse? A couple of friends, Harvey and Stella decide to investigate and see if they can solve the mystery.

Strangeville School is Not Cursed is a delightful read that contains many different silly events which will keep children entertained. The illustrations are wonderfully done by Brett Helquist, who was also the illustrator for the Series of Unfortunate Events books.

This series is silly but so much fun! I love Harvey and his friends! The teachers and principal's are a bit different but entertaining. The Vice Principals announcements are very funny. I would really hate to go to a school like this it would be horrifiying. In this one Harvey and the gang are trying to figure out the curse of the lost and found box! If you have young readers who like silly adventures in school type books then look no further! :)

Super cute, and I can’t wait to read it to my little cousins! I do think it sometimes over-relies on the idea of characters pointing out “haha, this is WEIRD, isn’t it?” instead of just letting the strangeness be, but it’s a cute book and I enjoyed it.

This was a really interesting book! I haven't read the first book, but I still got to enjoy this one. I really liked the "announcements" from the Vice Principal as they added a touch of humor. I also enjoyed the little information rambles the narrator would go on. This was a really interesting book and I really enjoyed it!

[Don't let the title fool you] A truly delightful middle grade Horror-comedy carrying some important lessons about identifying true bravery and friendship and why "adventure" doesn't have to be in some far flung locale, this is Book Two in the STRANGEVILLE SCHOOL Series. Horror, Fantasy, Paranormal, Science Fiction and History come together to delight readers. The characters are so likable and watching them strive to overcome is inspiring.

I received a complimentary sample of Strangeville School Is Definitely Not Cursed by Darcy Miller, in exchange for my honest review.
This book is a fun adventure that will have you laughing out loud! The illustrations are detailed and hysterical and make you feel like you are there! My 10 year old daughter read this book with me, and she didn't want to stop, didn't want the story to end. We both loved Harvey and how he worked so hard with Stella to try and figure out what was happening at Strangeville Middle School. We loved the other characters as well, and we laughed so much. It was so much fun and so well written, we can't wait for more!
New kid Harvey Hill thinks that things are going pretty well at Strangeville School, even if odd things keep happening. How did a glowing lost and found box just turn up in the cafeteria? This couldn't be related to a 50 year old supposed curse, because everyone knows that curses aren't real, right? Harvey knows that he shouldn't take anything from the box, because it isn't his, it isn't right, but it seems to call for him, and really what could it hurt?
There is no such thing as curses, so there has to be a perfectly logical explanation for the robots that are roaming the hallways of Strangeville. Harvey and his best friend Stella are going to figure this mystery out, they have to. Strangeville School Is Definitely Not Cursed or is it?

This is the second Strangeville book, and it does its sequel duty quite admirably. This series is distinguished by the fact that, while it can be very silly, it is smart silly, and even sometimes a little edgy silly. Anyone can do fart material; these books try harder than that and often turn on clever and witty twists on the old standbys. When you add engaging kid characters, and high energy narration that's often spiced with amusing deadpan throwaway lines and asides, you end up with an entertaining tale and an all-around rewarding reading experience. A nice find.

(Please note that I received a free ecopy of this book without a review requirement, or any influence regarding review content should I choose to post a review. Apart from that I have no connection at all to either the author or the publisher of this book.)

Harvey is new to Strangeville School. Weird things keep happening but the other students act like nothing is wrong. However, there is a point where even for them, things are too weird. They must find out what is going on to save their school.

This was a cute story!

Darcy Miller crafts a series book that satisfies and leaves the reader wanting the next entry. The illustrations add even more to the reading experience, and I loved the creativity that Miller brought to this engaging story. Would definitely recommend for young readers.

Silly and odd; strange staff and events abound (and creep and crawl) throughout the school. But some is totally fake. Like Jell-O with raw shrimp in it. Duh! That would never set up!

Other than that, and, well, maybe one or two unlikely events, it's a veritable festival of mayhem in a classroom atmosphere. I prefer quiet classrooms, myself, but only because I'm an exciting writer in my "regular" life!

Harvey and Stella are trying to crack the Curse of the Lost and Found Box, which somebody triggered. (His initials begin with "Har" and end with "vey.") We're told that the person isn't normally a thief. Maybe the mystery item was possessed?! (I guess Nevaeh helps.)

If ridiculous is your middle name, or you enjoy hijinks or other jinks, this absurdity may just be the book you're looking for! They say ages 8-12, but what do they know? With all the comic readers, anybody who has been to school would enjoy hearing these adventures--for comparison--if nothing else! I recommend it just for fun (and a tiny bit of educational content is slipped in, but don't tell the kids.)

4/5 Some mild crude content.
