Marnie is a professional gift buyer, which I never knew existed. But she mixes up two gifts which causes serious problems for both herself and the gift buyer. The characters were charming and it was a great lighthearted story.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This reminded me a lot of a Liane Moriarty novel, with all the interesting family dynamics, and I really enjoyed it! Marnie owns a small boutique, and her specialty is not just curating interesting items, but providing personal gift buying services for her clients. One of her clients has her regularly buy gifts for both his wife AND his mistress... and one disastrous day, Marnie mixes up the gifts, blowing up her client's marriage. In spite of that excitement, I found the book started a bit slow, but a midway through, it picked up and became hard to put down. (I actually had the same feedback about Darke's last book, "The Lost Love Song"... perhaps she could benefit from a better editor to tighten things up?) Either way, I would still thoroughly recommend this feel-good romance, especially to anyone who's a fan of Liane Moriarty!

This was such a great book. I really loved it. The idea of a professional gift-buyer sounds amazing, and I loved the way Marnie just wanted to claim her family home. Her relationship with Luke was interesting in the way it was layered. They really fit, but the conflict really fit their characters. I found myself understanding where both of them were coming from.

I also liked the additional points of view from Suzanne and Brian, although to be honest, the book probably would have been fine without them. If you like women's fiction in the vein of Georgia Clarke, I'd say to give this a try.

I loved this delightful cleverly plotted romcom novel!

Marnie owns a small gift buying sevice in Australia and is determined to purchase and restore a damaged storefront to house her growing business despite her meager finances when an unfortunate snafu threatens to destroy her business entirely. But Marnie is not easily defeated and perseveres with help from an unlikely source.

I am a bit torn on how to rate this book. I think I give it a 3.25. I thought the story was cute, and the characters endearing, but there was something about the writing style that frustrated me. An example would be during scenes with dialogue. Once dialogue started, before the next person would reply, the author would write about the person's thoughts for 3 paragraphs. By the time it got to the point where the second character would reply to the first, I forgot what the first had even said. There was a lot of extra detail that was unnecessary. It was not descriptive detail like Stephen King talking about a chair for 3 pages but extra words. Having said that, I do want to reiterate that I thought the story was pretty cute, and I loved the concept behind it. The gift giving profession was an adorable take.

I would like to thank Kathleen Quinlan of Random House, and Net Galley for the chance to read this book as an ARC. I have been hesitant to read another romance, lately I have read quite a few duds. This was a darling book, with engaging characters and a clever premise. Marnie Fairchild has a business- Wish and Co. She , among other things, is a gift buying consultant for people( primarily rich men) , who have no clue when it comes to shopping. She is also the, outsider in a moneyed family. Everyone in her town , refers to her father as "poor Rory".Marnie has built up her business on her own, and wants to expand. There is a building that her grandfather built that is in disrepair and Marnie wants to buy it.Marnie is working hard to make her dreams happen. She has a great best friend( Peach to her Bunny), and a friend with benefits, Owen. She has put all of her romantic dreams on hold as she tries to grow her business and get the building of her dreams. Disaster strikes at the outset- Brian Charlesworth, one of her best clients, has a wedding anniversary and a mistresses birthday on the same day. She has bought the perfect gifts for both wife and mistress, and she would never make a mistake in the mailing- or would she? Things spiral in a semi predictable way. What keeps this book from being predictable and dull is the freshness of the characters. Marnie is open, lovely and relatable. There is a romance in the person of the Charlesworth's son, who has some secrets of his own. It is all about love, life , secrets , lies and taking what the universe gives you. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Cute! Cute! Cute!
Sweet, swoonworthy with a sweet storyline that will leave you feeling good.
Marnie Fairchild has a “gift” for gift giving. She has a big dream of moving her company “Wish & Co.” to a historic storefront that once housed her grandfather’s store. Getting the funds to buy it causes her to cross paths with a family that makes her question her “gifts” and everything else she believes in. Light hearted, quick read. Five stars and here’s hoping they make this sweet romance into a movie!
Thank you to NetGalley and Ballantine Publishing for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

With Love From Wish & Co. by Minnie Darke
Marnie Fairchild, from the rogue side of the Fairchild family, and thus not part of its fortune, is a businesswoman. She’s gone from a food truck to a high-end gift service. Her business includes everything from selling specialty gift wrap to personal gift shopping for her clients. She’s ready to move up in her retail location and has her heart set on a posh address where her grandfather worked as a cobbler. Marnie works hard, but she has goals. She wants that space.
Complications come when gifts are misdelivered. One to the wife, one to the mistress.
Her characters are charming, but not perfect, her plot has surprises and a fresh approach to the “woman starting a small business” trope, and she did a great job of struggling with the issue of personal responsibility, in this case, by enabling cheating husbands, but also the emotions when the recipients of the gifts realize that they weren’t chosen by a loved one, but a pro.
I love the interwoven lesson of women being responsible for their own happiness and hope to read more from this author.
I received this book from NetGalley and Dell, the publisher. It goes on sale August 17. (links to be posted after pub as requested0

What a lovely read! Thank you to NetGalley for the copy of Wish and Co!

Marnie Fairchild (yes of those Fairchilds) has always been on the outs of her family and she’s always dreamed of owning the old Fairchild and Sons building. She thought it would be the perfect home for her gift buying business Wish and Co.

Brian Charlesworth has all the money in the world, a loving family, and yet he still risks it all. Marnies mistake brings his transgressions to the forefront on his 40th wedding anniversary. Working together can Marnie help Brian win back his wife and can Brian help Marnie realize her dreams?

With multiple viewpoints Minnie Darke weaves a beautiful and intricate story of friendship, love, mistakes and forgiveness.

Thank you to Random House for the eARC in exchange for my honest review.

Marnie is in the gift buying business, as in she owns a business where wealthy people short on time give her money to buy presents for family members and friends. She has an important client named Brian, who requires gifts for his kids, his wife, and his mistress. Everything is fine until the wife's anniversary present is switched with the mistress's birthday present.

Brian's business is important to Marnie and she is willing to do anything she can to save his marriage. That's when Brian's son, Luke, enters to cause problems. Marnie and Luke quickly fall into a relationship, but complications quickly arise.

I absolutely loved this book. While I loved the romance and the general storyline, the writing has to be my favorite part. There is a wide range of characters, which means multiple character arcs. Minnie Darke did an excellent job. Despite how many characters there were, I never got confused or bored. With most multi-POV books, I find a character that I do not care as much about and therefore don't want to read in their POV. However, this did not happen. I was excited every time a chapter switched POV.

Additionally, I loved how each story connected. Marnie's and Luke's relationship had an effect on Brian's and Suzanne's relationship. Each character's wants were tangled in their relationships. Like with the characters themselves, it was so well written that I did not have a problem following along.

The writing style itself was another enjoyable factor for me. It felt casual, like telling a story to a friend, but not to the point of annoyance. I think the writing style was vital in keeping this story interesting AND understandable.

I love this book and I hope everyone will check it out when it releases August 16.

Minnie Darke is an expert at writing books that are the perfect balance between a lovely romance and outstanding character development where you see the life events that have impacted those involved. In With Love from Wish & Co,, Marnie runs a gift business where she specializes in finding the perfect gifts for the people in her clients' lives. Marnie prides herself on her attention to detail so when a terrible mix-up happens it threatens to ruin everything she is working towards. Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this in advance - all opinions are my own.

This ARC was given to me with appreciation by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This book was a surprising delight! Didn’t want to put it down from the first page. Following a self made woman on her pursuit to move her custom gift buying company to a family owned historic property, the plot takes you through multiple story lines each one more exciting than the next. So many layers to this feel good story with morals and hope, love and family. Not another fluffy rom-com. Reminiscent of Elin Hildebrand without the island. Recommended for all ages. (Some streamy stuff but nothing open door.) Also learned how to think about that perfect gift 🎁 will be gifting this one to some of my reader friends for sure!

Marnie has a gift service and is doing well until an unfortunate mixup almost costs her the business and her client his marriage. Good story and hard to put down.

Marnie Fairchild runs a brilliant business Wish & Co. where clients hire her to select gifts for their loved ones. Marnie has a talent in choosing that perfect item that really speaks loudly to "it's the thought that counts" while the recipient is none the wiser at not realizing that their gifts were through her meticulous sleuthing. The situation backfires on her when her best customer, Brian Charlesworth, requests a gift for his wife's anniversary and for his mistress's birthday, which are both on the same day. This sets the ball in motion where Marnie has to re-examine how far she'll go to keep her business afloat, especially with her dream of purchasing a shopfront with sentimental value while resetting her priorities. It gets trickier because she hadn't counted on Luke Charlesworth, Brian's son, to walk into her life. I was fascinated by Marnie's job and how skillful she was it. Marnie herself is very independent, professional and relatable, but when it comes to her love life, she has not had the best of luck in finding someone who appreciates her. Aside from Marnie, there are subplots regarding the other characters, which drew me into the story more as it highlights how likable people are very much imperfect and prone to mistakes, including big ones. Everyone who finds themself in a tangle has to search for a way out and untangle and I enjoyed watching everyone come to their own realizations. As for Marnie, I wanted her to have everything she desired even if she thought it might be a long shot because she deserved it after working so hard and confronting hard truths while still staying in business. Luke was very genuine and sincere, if not a bit purist in his beliefs, but he had a heart of gold underneath. A little slow in the beginning, I enjoyed the soft storytelling style and all of the outcomes for each of the characters.

A great read for the beach this summer. The characters are interesting and the romance real. A good example of no good deed goes unpunished and how easy it is to make a big mistake.
