Took me quite a while to get into this book and felt very slow paced. It picked up pace and I'm glad I stuck with it.

Evie Hunter’s latest novel The Chase is a high-stakes and high octane thriller that will leave readers breathless.

Stable girl Farah has just been sacked from her job and she is beside herself with worry about her beloved horses. Who is going to look after them if she is no longer around to see to their every need? Farah has this sneaking suspicion that all is not right at the stables. She suspects foul play and when she uncovers staggering secrets and lies, she vows to do whatever it takes to bring them to light – whatever the cost and consequences to her own personal safety.

Self-made millionaire Isaac Fernandez had witnessed first-hand Farah’s shocking dismissal and immediately sensed that there was something far more sinister going on beneath the surface than the mere sacking of an employee. When Farah is almost killed, Isaac’s suspicions are proven correct and as the threats against her life escalate, Isaac vows to help her out in trying to uncover who is the mastermind behind this vicious attack on her life.

Farah and Isaac have certainly got their work cut out for them. Can they unmask this dangerous perpetrator before it’s too late?

A nail-biting revenge thriller, The Chase is a shocking, propulsive and riveting tale of vengeance and deception readers will want to devour in one go. Evie Hunter’s thriller is full of strong characters, heart-stopping action and jaw-dropping twists and turns readers simply will not see coming.

Exciting, complex and unpredictable, Evie Hunter’s latest bestseller The Chase will keep readers glued to its pages until the early hours of the morning.

Whenever you come across a thriller set in the world of horses, you just automatically go to Dick Francis – or at least I do. Once one of the biggest names in the publishing world, latterly Francis’ work appears consigned to the history books even while the adaptations appear on obscure platforms like BBC Radio 4 Extra.

So, I was charmed to read this novel written by Evie Hunter, a non de plume of Wendy Soliman, a hugely experienced regency romance writer. So, was this going to be Dick Francis meets Bridgerton?

Thankfully for this reader, no.

This is a hard edged, gritty thriller in the best traditions of Boldwood Books, an imprint offering a platform for, often, women writers to unpack and expand the criminal underworld.

Hunter is talented writer and the reader is in no doubt that an experienced writer is at the helm. Tightly plotted, an enjoyable thriller packed with real world scenarios.

I absolutely adore Evie’s books and this one definitely hasn’t disappointed. This is another gem and I am already eagerly anticipating more books from Evie.

This book moves at a good pace, it is engaging and well written. You definitely feel as though you know the characters in this book.

The characters in this one are interesting and Hunter develops them in a way you feel as though you know them.

I have flown through this book and have no shame in admitting that I have devoured this in just hours. It’s a great read and one I definitely recommend.

Evie Hunter writes some graphic fast pace novels. I have loved them all.

This one was a little slow to start but once it got going it picked up the pace and gripped me.

A mystery thriller set in the horse racing world is intriguing and not having a clue what goes on in this world, Evie described it perfectly with her clever imagination. Evie describes her characters so they become believable.

Full of suspense and drama this book definitely kept me on my toes until the last page.

This will keep you very well entertained.
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this excellent book. xx

It took me quite some time to get into this story. Although Farah and Isaac were immediately likeable, and their world easily visualised due to Evie’s close descriptions, I wasn’t massively sold on the danger & risk involved in this book at first, and found it a bit of a slow burn.

However, this only lasts for a short time as suddenly it is clear that Farah is in very real danger, and there is in fact a threat to her life. Having built an image of Farah as a hard-working and responsible person with a sympathetic backstory, from this point on I had more investment in the story and where it was going.

There are two threads to this story which heighten the tension – the threat to Farah and the growing relationship between Farah and Isaac. The two together make for a well-balanced and enjoyable read.

This is an easy read, which I was able to finish quickly and I did enjoy a lot of the elements. I would recommend this book and author to fans of Edie Bayliss and Jessie Keane.

The Chase by Evie Hunter is based around the world of horse racing scene and a very easy read and is a great book to take on your holidays. However, it did remind me of 50 shades of grey but without all the red room (wink wink)

When Farah Ash a stable girl, was sacked from her job, she loved doing. Farah had one big concern was for her beloved horses she cared for.

Self-made millionaire, Isaac Fernandez witnesses Farah’s shocking dismissal of Farah and senses immediately that she has uncovered something dangerous and perhaps even deadly. And his fears are confirmed when Farah is almost killed.

More threats come Farah’s way, it’s clear someone is out to silence her for good. But, Why?

What has she uncovered?

Farah and Isaac have to uncover the truth and put a stop to the deadly chase – before it’s too late for both of them are hurt!

WoW this book was full of twists and turns throughout that will have your gripped from the very first few pages.

I highly recommend this book.

The Chase is based around the horse racing world in Lambourne. While I don’t have much knowledge in this subject, the first few chapters definitely fill you in on the horsy world! Once you’re past that, Evie Hunter’s writing style becomes fast paced and while at times, it feels slightly predictable, it’s hard to deny that you’re still gripped with suspense, turning the paged to see if you were right. It also has a sprinkling of romance, which I wasn’t expecting when I read the synopsis.

Farah Ash has her dream job working in a prestigious riding stable but when she uncovers something suspicious going on her boss isn't too keen on her interfering in stable business. With the help of wealthy race horse owner, Isaac Fernandez, Farah starts to uncover a web of intrigue which will take both her, and Isaac, into great danger.

The Chase hits the ground running in an exciting thriller which looks at the wheeling and dealing going on behind the scenes at this riding establishment and how the perpetrators of a dangerous crime will stop at nothing to get what they want, even if it means killing in the process.

I enjoyed getting to know both Farah, and Isaac, and even though their lifestyles, and backgrounds, couldn't be more different, they soon discover that they have much in common and their growing attraction to each other is done in a lovely realistic way. Whilst there is an unashamedly romantic edge to to the story this doesn't detract from what is, after all, a really suspenseful story, with enough twists and turns, thrills and spills to keep you guessing until the end.

Well written, with a complex mystery at the heart of the story, and with characters who you really start to care about, The Chase is an intriguing, and exciting, revenge thriller.

I enjoyed reading this book. I was hooked from the first page. This is my second book by this author and this one definitely lived up to my expectations and more.

The plot of this book was so exciting and I couldn’t wait to find out what happened and who was involved. I thought the mystery behind illegal horse betting was a great start for the book. It leads the reader to suspect anyone and everyone. It really could have been anyone in this story. I enjoyed the pace of this book, it was full of energy and twists.

I liked the characters in this book, as I mentioned before, a lot of characters were suspects. I enjoyed the mysterious atmosphere around certain characters. It made the reader unsure of who they can trust. I thought the two main characters, Farah and Issac, worked well as a team and I loved their dynamic. They go through such a scary journey together and they are determined to figure out what happened.

This authors writing style is easy to understand and easy to follow. The chapters are quite long compared to other books but they do go by quickly. I enjoyed the amount of emotion the author put into this book to bring the characters to life. This gave the reader a good connection with the characters.

I highly recommend this author and definitely this book.

The Chase is not my first read from author Evie Hunter. I love her books, so when the tour invite for this hit my email, I jumped at the chance. And I’m glad I did! This is a gripping revenge thriller!

There were moments where the pace slowed a bit more than I would have liked, but overall, the pace was quite addictive. It had me on the edge of my seat more often than not and I really couldn’t wait to find out all I needed to know in the end.

The characters were fascinating. I am always impressed with this author’s ability to craft characters who react in realistic ways and are relatable.

An excellent thriller mystery. Make sure you check it out!

Thank you to Rachel’s Random Resources, Boldwood Books, Netgalley, and the author for the free review copy. All opinions are my own and unbiased.

The Chase is a superbly written revenge thriller. Farah, gets fired from her beloved job working with race horses and is determined to prove that her suspicions of dodgy dealing are true. She joins forces with one of the race horse owners., The ever dashing Isaac. Of course he is super rich and can have anything he wants as oppose to Farah who struggles for every penny, an unlikely couple? Well you’ll have to buy this wonderful book to find out.

Evie Hunter has a powerful writing style that does not mess about. No beginning chapters that don’t seem to matter to much, more of a few filler chapters. Not so for Evie Hunter, she is straight in there with action. Certainly my kind of book. I enjoyed this fascinating world of the rich and richer with their horses and fast cars. The story is packed with intrigue and has it’s fair share of romance thrown in. It is entertaining and suspenseful throughout. A definite good all round summer read.

Farah works in a stable with horses doing the job that she loves and is content with. The one morning Farah and her boss have a disagreement after Farah discovers illegal activity taking place where she works and confronts her boss. Unbelievably Farah is fried from her dream job, the job she loves more than anything in the world.

Unbeknown to Farah her unfair dismissal is overheard by Isaac who’s horses Farah cares for. Isaac is also a multi millionaire who also suspects that illegal activity maybe taking place and together him and Farah team up to work out what is going on.

After claiming unfair dismissal Farah is reinstated however the criminal circle behind the wrong doings at the stables are concerned that Farah knows to much and are not happy to see her back. Farah may have her job back but it could come at a deadly cost. As Isaac and Farah dig deeper into the illegal activity it becomes clear that there are people out there that would kill to keep their plans a secret.

I really enjoyed reading this book at times I found it a little slow in a couple of places but other than that it was a thrilling and addictive read.

This is a stand alone romantic, cosy mystery, set in the horse racing world in Lambourne. I really enjoyed it and it was filled with interesting characters, an easy to follow plot, touches of romance and a steady pace. Perhaps it was a bit predictable but I would recommend this enjoyable read. Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.

This book was sooo good I wasn't able to put it down. I read it in one sitting because I just HAD TO KNOW what is going to happen next.

The story itself is so fascinating and characters are so intriguing.

If you love mysteries you definetly need to read this book. It is absolutely amazing.

The balance of this romance/mystery was tipped too heavily towards romance for my taste but this will likely suit other readers.

Farah works for a stable looking after race horses until she is fired for questioning the owners decision regarding the care of the horses. Successful business man Isaac has 3 horses at the stable however during an unplanned visit feels the care of one of his horses is not as it should be.
He meets with Farah when he spots her at the bus stop as her car won't start and between the 2 of them they unravel what is really going on.
This book had a touch of gangland, crime and romance but it really did work and I couldn't put it down.

I’d like to thank Boldwood Books and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘The Chase’ written by Evie Hunter in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Self-made millionaire businessman Isaac Fernandez owns three racehorses that he stables at Guy Lavant’s Lambourn premises. When Isaac makes an impromptu visit he hears Guy’s second-in-command Dale Drummond sacking Farah Ash, the stable-hand who cares for his own horses. Isaac senses something’s wrong and as it appears to involve his own horses he intends finding out what it is and who has tampered with Farah’s car.

‘The Chase’ is based around the world of horseracing and is an easy though slightly predictable read that I finished in twenty-four hours. There’s no major excitement or unexpected surprises but it’s a story with interesting characters and a well-thought-out plot. The ending is a bit of a non-event but it’s a decent enough story that I’ve enjoyed reading.
