I actually read this in time for release last year and then never ended up actually posting a review because I had a lot going on in my life. I'm glad this year I'm more active on Bookstagram again. I thought I would share this one now because a mystery filled with crows really gives me all the fall vibes.

I thought the mystery was fun, and would be interesting for middle grade readers. Plus, there was a good message about change and how it happens to all of us, especially when one of the "one and onlys" stops being a one and only (and becomes a big brother). I've also always been partial to stories set in small towns (being a small town girl myself). It was sweet and I want to read more in the series!

Paul, Peephole, and Shanks are solving another mystery around Bellwood. This is the sequel to Finally, Something Mysterious. Cute little mystery around Bellwood solved by 3 kiddos. The series is adorable. Hope there's more to come

Book Two in this newer series has Shanks, Peephole and Paul solving several new mysteries: the quick builds of new restaurants in town that are direct competition to the existing restaurants, the robot ravens, and the identity of the elusive Specter, wrestler extraordinaire. Could they possibly be connected??

This middle grade mystery series will likely have a following, but it was not a stand out for me. I did not read the first book in the series, and that may have helped me like this book a little more. This story moved at a brisk pace and focused solely on the mystery plot, but I felt no connections to the characters. They were not facing any particular hardships or personal challenges and seemed to be outliers of the storyline. The story started almost too fast and I was scrambling to figure out the characters, their connections to each other and personal motivations in their relationships.

I had a lot of fun reading the first book in this series, FINALLY SOMETHING MYSTERIOUS, so when I saw that the One and Onlys were back with a new sleuthing adventure, I knew I had to check it out.

FINALLY SOMETHING DANGEROUS is packed with the same goofy humor and absurdity that the first book has. As the team chases down a new mystery, they encounter more odd small town personalities and off-the-wall situations.

I feel like the first book make me literally laugh out loud, and I didn’t get that this time, but I did find myself smiling a lot at the antics and circumstances. This is the perfect mystery book for readers who love the storytelling of mystery but aren’t ready for darker or uncomfortable themes sometimes explored in that genre.

The small town setting is packed with both new and familiar characters. It captures that everybody-knows-everybody vibe for sure.

If you haven’t read the first book, I think you could still read and follow this story without any issues. Readers who enjoyed DOUBLE THE DANGER AND ZERO ZUCCHINI by Betsy Uhrig will not want to miss this one.

I really enjoyed this book! In the sequel to Finally, Something Mysterious, we get to see The One and Onlys again, except this time in a "New Bellwood". I really enjoyed this mystery and the way we got to see the story unfold. It was a great read!

A 4 star read!

Finally, Something Dangerous is a spunky little mystery book for middle grade readers. Funny and clever, it’s a mystery that has a Scooby Doo feel to it.

I look forward to recommending this to my elementary school age students! As well as the book that preceded this story and any future books in the series about the One and Onlys of Bellwood!

Many thanks to NetGalley as well as Random House Children’s Books for a e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was a fun, middle grade book with a trio of detectives who embark on an adventure to solve their next mystery. Upbeat tone. Interesting characters. Good plot that keeps the reader's attention throughout. There was even a tearjerker moment towards the end.

Fun and engaging read appropriate for middle grade audiences.

Note: A special thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an advanced reader's copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

The second book with the One and Onlys mystery trio! Shanks and her friends Paul and Peephole are back to investigate when mysterious happenings start occurring in their town, starting with the appearance of metal crows. After this, disasters keep happening at well-loved local restaurants, forcing people to go to the new chains that are being built in town. The One and Onlys must solve the mystery to save their town!

This was a cute book. I felt it started a little slow, but once they found the first metal crow, it picked up from there. A solid middle grades book.

I received my copy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
