Wow! What a rollercoaster! When her neighbor is found murdered and Mallory becomes suspect number one, she decides to investigate. But when the evidence begins to pile up and it all points to Mallory, she becomes determined to prove her innocence and find the killer before she or her rescue horses are next.

I'm looking forward to the next one!

In Canter With A Killer, Mallory Martin returns to her hometown after a divorce and starts a horse rescue farm. Things are going fairly well until her grumpy neighbor ends up dead and she becomes the main suspect. Because it seems like the police are entirely focused on her, Mallory begins investigating other suspects.

I really enjoyed the premise of the story with the horse rescue. Mallory's volunteers, Tanner and Ashley, as well as Mallory's best friend Lanie and her husband Ben are great characters. Loved the donkey! Ms. Camp wove a good story to get to the ending. There was a clue at almost the beginning of the story that didn't come up again until near the end to see the results of it.

I thought the killer was pretty obvious, but that could just be me. Even though I suspected this person throughout the story, the interactions with this person were interesting. I liked how the sudden appearance of a love interest was dealt with by Mallory being caught by surprise by her feelings.

I certainly hope there are more stories in this series because I found the main characters enjoyable.

Thank you NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I really loved the horse rescue incorporated in the mystery.
Mallory Martin left her marriage and her unfulfilling job to move back to her hometown of Hillspring, Arkansas, and start a horse rescue. I enjoyed getting to know Mallory and the mystery she is solving. This mystery was good and kept me guessing.

I received this ARC via Netgalley and Crooked Lane Books, in return for an honest review. Great start to a new cozy mystery series. Mallory Martin left a bad marriage and bad job to start a horse rescue in her hometown. Running afoul of neighbor and champion horse breeder, Albert Cunningham, his murder puts her right in the sheriff’s sights as top suspect. Aided by friends and rescue volunteers, along with her amazing guardian donkey, Mallory’s determined to find the culprit and keep her rescue alive and well. It’s a wild ride! I look forward to the next in this series.

I love me a good cozy mystery when I need a break from the hard core thrillers and this book was a great read.

Loved this cozy mystery. The characters were great, plot was interesting and moved quickly, and I loved the underlining images of the rescue farm.
Lanie runs a horse rescue farm in the home where she grew up. Her neighbor is not at all happy about her ideas to generate funds for the sanctuary. The day after a heated discussion with him, Mr. Cunningham is found dead on his farm. All evidence and fingers point to Lanie, and it seems even the police are ready to prosecute her. She is determined to find out the truth, and save herself from spending the rest of her life in jail for a crime she didn't commit.
This is a fast paced book, with a few suspects, a couple of motives, and no evidence against anyone but Lanie. Can she figure this out before she ends up in jail, or worse, dead?
Highly recommend this cozy mystery.

Thank you, NetGalley for a pre-release copy of this novel.

As a lover of cozy mysteries (who happened to grow up on a farm with horses), I found this book a must-read. I was not disappointed. The mystery plot was well done - and kept you guessing until the very end. This is a stand-alone book, so no series catch-up required. If you love horses, animal rescues, and a good mystery, this is the book for you!!

This was a great first book in a new series. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the characters.. My favorite was Biscuit the donkey. So cute! The setting of a horse rescue was interesting although sad that there is a need for one. I will certainly be on the look out for the next in the series.

A well written cozy with plenty of suspects.
Mallory's horse rescue is one of the most important things in her life. She works tirelessly to fund it and looks for ways to make it more profitable to help more animals. When her neighbor is murdered after they had a small disagreement, she's dumbfounded when she's questioned about it and snoops around to find out what happened. Intrigue and a bit of romance. Highly recommend.

Mallory Martin is heading home to Arkansas after marriage and her career didn’t fill her with happiness. She returns home to find her heart filled with all that she had been missing after she starts a horse rescue. When he neighbor is found murdered, the sheriff decides that she is his main suspect and she needs to clear her name.

With several suspects that aren’t really panning out, she needs to step up her sleuthing and find out who killed the man, or she’ll be heading to the big house and losing her dream life.

A new author with a new series that doesn’t disappoint. If you’re a horse lover you will not want to miss this one! If you’re not a horse lover, you still don’t want to miss this one. It’s a great start to a new cozy series.

Mallory Martin owns a horse rescue and finds herself moments away from being arrested for her neighbors murder.
I really liked this book, the author did a fantastic job making me believe she was guilty. I felt an immediate connection with Mal and her friend Lainie, and I enjoyed meeting Andy.
The donkey, Biscuits, is just too adorable and I am looking forward to reading more in this series. I will happily recommend it to other readers.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for selecting me to read an advanced copy of this book.
