It's the summer of 1888, and most members of New York City's elite society have fled the sweltering city for the cooler climes of Newport. To fulfill her role as society columnist for the newspaper, Genevieve Stewart is supposed to be in Newport reporting on balls, tea parties, and other outings. Instead, Genevieve and her investigative partner, Daniel McCaffrey, are compelled to stay in the city. When the Maple family's fortune dried up, Genevieve's friend, Callie, was reduced to working as a model for the many artists who work in New York. When a fellow model is found murdered in her apartment, Callie enlists Genevieve and Daniel to help find the killer. As more models wind up dead with their nude bodies posed to mimic famous paintings, there is fear that Jack the Ripper has made his way to New York and is continuing his murder spree among the art world.

I'm a big fan of the Gilded Gotham series, and I'm pleased to see Genevieve and Daniel working together (along with some reoccurring friends and family members) to solve another mystery that takes them from the mansions of the elite all the way to the slums of the city. Belli brings New York City to life by including a lot of information about the city and the art world of the late 1880s. Like a real investigation, there are times when Genevieve's and Daniel's case moves slowly at times and at a breakneck speed at others. The main plotline of the investigation flows well with the secondary storylines involving Genevieve's personal relationship with Daniel as well as Callie's budding romance with Genevieve's brother. The final confrontation with the guilty party is a little over the top, but TREACHERY ON TENTH STREET is an overall enjoyable, thrilling reading that kept me guessing until the end. I can't wait to see what Genevieve, Daniel, and the rest of the main characters get up to next.

Murder Mystery, Gilded Age, Cute Couple, Yes Please!
Even though this is a part of a series, it does not take away from the story. Genevieve Stewart is a young journalist and often finds herself solving mysteries with the help of her good friend Daniel McCaffery. When art models in the city began to show up dead with their throats slit, another model Callie come to Genevieve for help. In the heat of the summer surrounded by 'Jack the Ripper' rumors, Genevieve and Daniel need to move quickly to prevent anymore models showing up dead.

I really enjoyed this book! The twists and turns kept me intrigued until the last page. Genevieve and Daniel make such a good couple. Fingers crossed there will be another novel with Callie's story. I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone and everyone.

Historical fiction…the 1800’s…murder and mayhem…this reads like true crime…the author has woven a story that is difficult to put down. The book was sent to me by. Netgalley electronically for review…the characters are likable…others not so much…the story moves somewhat slowly at times, but it is worth reading to the end…

I really enjoyed this novel. I loved and appreciated how well written this was and because of that I was hooked into the story from the very beginning. The author also threw in many and great details about the art and model world which was both fun and interesting to read. The mystery itself is well thought out and cleverly plotted that made me want to keep reading and reading. Highly recommend this novel and can’t wait to read more from this author. Five stars!
