Name of Book: Six Graves ~ DI Kim Stone #16
Author: Angela Marsons
Genre: Crime Thriller
Publisher: Bookouture
Pub Date: May 12, 2022
My Rating: 3.5 rounded up

This is Number Sixteen and I am totally embarrassed to say this is my first. The comments from readers I follow have been so good and mention that he can be read as a stand-alone; I fully intended to read a few before this one but my TBR list got out of control.
Story starts with a funeral (I assumed has something to do with the title).
Story then go back a couple weeks Detective Kim Stone is called to the scene of a house fire, she finds the Daynes family dead. However, not from the fire but from a gunshot wound and Helen Daynes, the mother is holding the gun.

I always enjoy treading the author’s notes and/or ‘Acknowledgements’ ~ the inside scoop on the author’s motivation in writing the story.
In this case, Ms. Marsons shares her thanks and appreciation in her Acknowledgements also tells us that this was a tough one to write how she had sleepless nights.
In her “A Letter from Angela’ she tells us how she was motivated but the case of Artem Saveliev.
~ I did a google search as I didn’t remember the details but after reading the ‘Daily Mail’ article I understand the connection between that case and this story!
As a mother of two adopted daughters there were times this was very difficult to read.
I do like author, Angela Matsons and will read another ~ Thank you for a great read!

Want to thank NetGalley and Bookouture for this eGalley. This file has been made available to me before publication in an early form for an honest professional review.
Publishing Release Date scheduled for May 12, 2022.

Once again Angela Marsons has not disappointed us with her latest book called Six Graves.
I'm a slow reader but found I couldn't get the story out of my mind. Instead of settling down to go to sleep at night I kept wanting to read “just a bit more”. It certainly gripped me from start to finish.
I have loved every single one of the D.I. Kim Stone series. Once you start reading them you find it very hard to stop as every turn of a page pulls you in more and more.
A fantastic read. I have no hesitation in recommending this book. It gets a full 5 stars from me
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for my copy

This is the 16th outing for Kim Stone and her team, and again, the book is as fresh and new as ever.
It starts very darkly, with a funeral, which has the reader guessing.
The story then moves to two weeks earlier when a family are found shot dead at their home.
What at first appears to be a straightforward case becomes more complicated, and then Kim hears that a ruthless escaped convict wants to kill her. This means she then needs protection, in the form of Leanne King, her least favourite person.
The problems of trying to solve the case, while staying safe cause stress to all the team, and the group dynamics are brilliant as usual.
And the end……… back to that funeral………well!!!!!

Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read this book.

With the publication of Six Graves, Angela Marsons has more than earned her place among top novelists. In her sixteenth book in the Kim Stone series. Angela brings back all the characters her fans love. I've read several Kim Stone books, and they are always five-star reads. The plots of Angela Marsons novels are fast-paced and exciting, perfect for crime thriller fans who enjoy edge-of-your-seat suspense.

This is book 16 in the DI Kim Stone series and what a fabulous read that was! From the shocking prologue until I saw the words The End I didn’t want to put the book down. I haven’t read the whole series, as I came to these books late in the day, but of the ones I have read this one was, in my opinion, the best. I know it’s an overused statement but this really was a page turner, so brilliantly written, with a great storyline and some heart stopping moments. With two distinct threads to the book you can feel Kim’s anguish at only being involved in one of the cases!

Briefly, Kim and her team are called to a house fire, but when they find four bodies upstairs it appears the mother, Helen Daynes, has killed her husband and two children and then committed suicide. But when something is found that throws doubt upon the perceived murders/suicide the team delve deeper into the lives of the family members. At the same time a violent psychopath has escaped from prison and is hunting for Kim; he is determined to finish what he started, Kim is the reason he was sent to prison, and he spent every day he was inside plotting her downfall.

I enjoyed this book so much I was sad when it’s finished. There are twists and turns in the Daynes case and a shocking climax. However the real shock comes in the other case. The measures taken by the psychopath to capture Kim are horrendous, absolutely heinous, and he really is the most despicable character. But the ending, oh my goodness, my mouth dropped! An absolutely brilliant read. Thank you Angela Marsdon ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

An outstanding and diabolical mystery by one of the best. The story begins with the pending burial of badass detective Kim Stone. Her colleagues have surrounded the site, but one man stands alone. The man, Symes, is eager to see Kim’s casket lowered into the ground. Then we are returned to the recent past when Kim and her team are called to the home where four bodies are found. A woman has killed her two children, her husband and then herself…or did she? As the story unfolds Kim is concentrating on why the mother would have done this as she questions other family members. Interwoven through the murder investigation is Symes, a truly evil psychopath that Kim had arrested and who has escaped from prison. Now he is out for revenge and he won’t rest until Kim draws her last breath. Kim has her own unwanted female bodyguard and their interaction adds some humor and sarcasm (which Kim is known for) to this twisted mystery. Will Kim survive her second meeting with Symes or will this be the end of one of our favorite detectives? I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. would like to thank netgalley and the publisher for letting me read this thriller of a book

wow this book is the edge of the seat type of read, it leaves you wanting more and you cant put the book down

back with stone and her group doing what they do best after the bad guys...stone and her gang are called out to a murder scene, it looks like a clear easy case of murder, the whole family are wiped out from the teenagers to the husband and wife with the murder weapon still in the hands of the murderer.... the mother.....

but is it as clear cut as everyone else thinks....

then if that isnt enough the psychopath that stone put away has now escaped prison and stone has a witness protection officer glued to her back and its not someone she is happy to see ever again, but with threats of co-operate or else she has no choice...

could not put this book down at all... and the finale is what we expect from this author...gripping

DI Kim Stone is back 🎉 I get so excited for a new instalment and the latest didn’t disappoint 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

16 books in, and Angela Marsons still manages to keep it all so fresh. A new engrossing case that will just have you on the edge of your seat trying to figure out all the pieces 🧩 and our usual fun, quirky team at the centre of it all. I just LOVE all the characters!

If I had to sum up in 3 words: Twisted, Thrilling and Fast paced!

When I read the first couple of pages my anxiety was through the roof as I thought the unthinkable had happened! Considering this is the sixteenth book in this series I am still absolutely loving these books and in my opinion they just get better with each one. I love how well the reader gets to know each unique character during the course of the series and it's brilliant how characters from the past can entwine themselves back into the story. As always a very easy five stars!

How can this be number sixteen? The series still feels so fresh and I hope this means the series will continue for a long time to come. I really enjoyed the relationship between Kim and Leanne in this book and found their love/hate banter quite comical at times. The story itself is very well thought out and fast paced.

Six Graves (Detective Kim Stone #16) by Angela Marsons is a fast-paced suspense thriller. As Detective Kim Stone investigates the scene of a house fire with four victims, she discovers the fire was not the cause of death. Two teenagers and their parents have all died from gunshot wounds. The mother appears to have been the shooter and then took her own life. This scenario is perplexing for D.I. Stone as information about this family is uncovered. Could a mother's history of severe depression have been a reason for her actions? Or did someone else have access to the house and commit these murders?
Detective Kim Stone soon has more to consider than her current murder case. A psychopath she had helped put behind prison bars has escaped and is threatening her life. How many levels of frustration can she deal with when a child goes missing and she knows it is the escapee trying to lure her to him.
Six Graves is another intriguing book in the D.I. Stone series!
Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and publisher for the opportunity to read this book. The publication date is May 12, 2022.

This book is number 16 in the Detective Kim Stone series and it just keeps getting better and better (if that is even possible). It is a gripping, tense, well written and at times humorous, action packed ride that had me hooked from page one.
Bring on book number 17. I can't wait!

Wow, what a rollercoaster this book was, I was hooked from the outset.

Like all the previous Kim Stone books in the series this does not disappoint.

The highlight for me though is the ongoing storyline of the team though the dark and gritty tale does help too.

Already looking forward to a further instalment.

Detective Kim Stone was at the scene of a house fire with her partner, Bryant, after they’d been called to the house. The unexpected still had power to shock police officers and finding the family – mother, father, boy and girl – all dead in the upstairs bedrooms was a dreadful shock. But worse was seeing the gun still in the hands of the wife and mother. Had Helen Daynes killed her husband and children? Contacting the older, married twins – Zach and Rachel – and their partners, their distress was awful to see.

With Kim and her team working on that case, the call from Woody was something Kim had never expected. A psychopath whom Kim had put away in prison years before, had escaped. Kim had caught him before he’d killed the two little girls he’d taken, and she knew he wanted his revenge on her. Putting a witness protection officer by Kim’s side was something she didn’t want, but it was worse because she couldn’t find the psychopath – another team was on that. Everyone knew Kim was in danger. As first one, then another child was taken, still Kim was refused access. She worked the Daynes case, determined to find the answers they needed. But what would happen to the little ones who’d been taken? Would he kill them, or save them until he had Kim?

Six Graves is the 16th in the DI Kim Stone series by Angela Marsons and oh my gosh! What an incredible ride! With plenty of action, electric pace and chills galore, I thoroughly enjoyed it. The author continues to write with a fresh pen, giving her readers a new scenario each time – this would almost be the best yet in this series! I certainly hope she doesn’t stop any time soon! Highly recommended (but start at the beginning!)

With thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for my digital ARC to read in exchange for an honest review.

4.5 stars.
Firstly... If, like me, you hate end padding then you need to check out where your copy of this book finishes. The copy I read finished at around 90% with a bunch of advertising stuffed in at the back. This really annoyed me as I thought I had more to read and then it all stopped. But... forewarned and all that jazz... That and the blooming red coat...
Secondly... BOOK 16! How did we get there and it still feel so fresh... I guess cos the author has the steel to mix things up every so often and do the big things that keep it as such. Also, the characters and plots are excellent, which helps!
So... we have a house fire but the family did not perish in it. No, they were shot and all initial evidence points to murder suicide. The mother left holding the smoking gun. Kim is affected by the scene before her as it draws parallels with her own life but she is nothing but professional and, along with her team, cracks on with the investigation.
Meanwhile there's a breakout from prison. One of the most evil people Kim has put away is free, and is looking for revenge...
Apart from the abrupt ending - and yes I will mention it again cos it was that annoying it nearly - I really loved this book. I think though that it would suit fans of the series as a whole rather than dippers as to get the very best from it re character development you really need to be in at book one and read in order. Especially as this book refers back a lot to an earlier crime Kim solved.
Kim is typical Kim in this book and her "character traits" are really front and centre herein as she is literally glued to a protection officer for most of the story which did get a bit weary after a while. But it also gave her an opportunity to go maverick again. How she is still a serving officer with her track record of abusing the rules, goodness only knows. I am glad she is though but fear for her future!
All in all, annoyances aside, a cracking addition to one of my favourite series that time and time again impresses me more and more. My thanks go to the Publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read this book.

Angela Marsons has written another belter of a Kim Stone novel in her latest book, Six Graves. Right from the very first page I knew this was going to be a good one, and Angela Marsons took me on a rollercoaster of a ride. Kim is perhaps faced with her toughest case yet, and the stakes are raised even higher for her in this book.

I really felt for Kim in this book. Although this is a very dark time for her, some of Kim’s dark humour still comes through which makes for some light hearted moments throughout the book. If you haven’t read the previous books in this series, I think it’ll definitely benefit if you have, before you read this book. A highly dangerous, sadistic killer has escaped from prison, a person from Kim’s not too distant past, and he is out for revenge with his mind fixated on Kim.

Angela Marsons really knows how to keep her readers glued to the page, and I was hooked from the moment I learned what was facing Kim in this book. I wanted to know what actions she was going to take following this discovery, and true to her character, she certainly isn’t about to give up her work to go into hiding as her boss suggests. As well as the added tension of the escaped prisoner, Kim is also facing a particularly tough case. A family have been found murdered, in what appears to be a murder-suicide. This is a really twisty investigation for Kim to get to grips with and this case had me hooked as well, as Kim and her team try to get to the bottom of what happened to this family.

The danger is there right from the get-go, and although Kim appears to just throw herself into her work to distract herself from what’s going on, you can feel the tension rising. You can see that she is nervous. She knows just how dangerous the man is who’s escaped from prison. The scenes told from this person’s point of view were so chilling, and Angela Marsons really delves into his state of mind. You can see just how fixated he is on getting revenge on Kim, and it seems that he’ll do absolutely anything to achieve that goal. That’s what makes him so dangerous and frightening. I was rooting for the police to catch him. I feared what was going to come if they didn’t get to him in time.

I’m always in awe of every new book in this series whenever I reach the end. The end of each book always leaves me eagerly anticipating the next, and I think I have to say that Six Graves is my favourite in the series to date. Kim Stone fans, you need to read this book the moment you get your hands on it, you will not be disappointed!

Can Angela Marsons still keep getting better? Her new book, Six Graves, is a tremendous crime fiction story. This is the 16th book in the DI Kim Stone series.

" A killer named Soames that DI Stone put away has escaped. And the only thing he wants to do is hurt her. Her boss puts her under protection, which she loathes, but goes along with to keep her job. She and her team are called to the site of an apparent murder-suicide. Something doesn't add up for Kim and as they investigate, family secrets come to light. Another family member dies under suspicious cirmcumstances and the team works overtime to find answers. Can Kim stay protected from a killer and also find a murderer?"

Marsons blanaces the two story lines here. DI Stone wants to do her job without restriction. The agent protecting her knows that the killer only needs a small window to get to Kim. Marsons goes inside the killer's head a bit and it's a scary place. There are team dynamics at play. It's good to see them grow and change so that every book is not the same. And Marsons is not afraid to kill a character. Read the prologue and see for yourself.

There are moments with the protective agent - Leanne. I hope we get to see her in future books.

A wild ending (and I love a wild ending) Marsons adds a couple of twists this time.

This is a great story, even if you don't normally read crime fiction. Great series and characters from Angela Marsons.

WOW WOW WOW!! Hooked from the start and once again Angela doesn’t disappoint. My heart was in my mouth and at one point I had to reread what I’d read, not once, twice, but three times. Angela sure knows how to write. She played me like a violin!! Highly recommended!!
