I love Elle Kennedy’s books and I am loving this Avalon Bay series! Bad Girl Reputation is a spicy, swoony story about second chances and love that lasts a lifetime. I loved Gen and Evan’s story, and can’t wait to read more in this series!

Having read a lot of Elle Kennedy’s books, this series felt a little bland for me. Still, it was a fun read that reminds you so much of college days. (I feel so old saying that lol.) I would say this is a light hearted series with good vibes. :)

Thank you to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for this eARC. This was my first attempt at Elle Kennedy and unfortunately it just wasn’t my thing. I prefer more depth and wit in my romances that I didn’t get from this. The writing style was a little too basic for my taste but I do think a lot of people would enjoy this. It’s definitely an easy read!

I really liked Bad Girl Reputation! I thought it was a good read and I really liked the way that the character's evolved and made themselves better for each other! My favorite character was definetly Genevive, I really liked how complex she was. I did really like Evan and Gen's relationship.

3.5 stars.

I love me some second chance romance and although this book didn’t revolutionize the genre it was still quirky and angsty and had me chuckling enough to give it nearly four stars. I wish I could’ve seen more to really show them growing as partners. We saw or were told a lot about how they weren’t good for one another and I think what could’ve got this to four stars is if we were shown how now they are right together, that they have grown and belong to one another.

TW: death of a family member, lapse in sobriety

Bad Girl Reputation by Elle Kennedy is surprisingly heartfelt and left me with all the warm fuzzies. The story begins with Gen, a former bad girl who's taken an oath to turn her life around but had to leave her hometown to feel strong enough to do it. When her mother unexpectedly passes away she comes home to help her family recover, but her undeniable attraction to her childhood sweetheart/local bad boy Evan just might take her off the rails. It's up to Evan to prove that they can grow up and have a life together, but some habits may be just too hard to break.

I was not expecting the redemption arc this novel gave me, but it is there and it is SWEET. While this novel certainly had its fair share of steam, what really left an impact on me was the focus it gave on both Evan and Gen's individual journeys and how they come to grips with their adult selves. There were also some interesting side plots to keep the story moving along, although I could have done without some of the unnecessary hatred that the secondary characters directed at our girl Gen (looking at you, Cooper). All in all, a great read!

Many thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review!

There's a reason any book with Elle Kennedy's name on it is an insta-read for me. Gen and Evan have the characteristics of my favorite Kennedy characters: they're flawed yet likable, their conversations feel realistic, and yet they're quirky enough to be interesting.

I was all in and shipping their relationship from the go, and as always Kennedy serves up a satisfying conclusion.

Four stars.

Overall, this one was just okay for me. I definitely preferred Good Girl Complex. I didn’t really care for Evan but I loved Gen and her character growth. I also loved the dual POV, that it was a second chance romance and revisiting Cooper, Mac and Daisy. 3.5⭐️

Bad Girl Reputation by Elle Kennedy is the second book in the Avalon Bay series. I enjoyed the first book, Good Girl Complex, but I felt like this book was trying too hard to make Genevieve into the "bad girl." There were moments that were cute, but I just didn't end up enjoying this story as much as Good Girl Complex. Thanks to NetGalley for the free digital review copy. All opinions are my own.

I love Elle Kennedy but this wasn't my favorite book of hers. It could be because I'm not a huge fan of the second chance trope, but there just didn't seem to be a lot of character growth throughout the story. It was a fun read but the stakes weren't high enough for me to be fully invested in it like I was the first book in the series.

When Genevieve comes home to Avalon Bay for her funeral, she does not plan on staying, but her dad needs her help with the family business. She has spent the last year in Charleston getting her life together, and she doesn’t want to go back to bad habits - which includes staying away from her on-again, off-again bad boy boyfriend, Evan.

This was okay - it wasn’t my favorite, but I didn’t hate it.

In the second book of the Avalon series, we center around Genevieve and Evan's story. The first book alluded to their on-again/ off-again relationship before she runs off to Charleston and they vaguely discuss her absence, but with this book we get all the details.

It's a dual POV like the first, but we get first loves and second chances with this book. This is normally one of my favorite tropes, but this book fell flat for me and I didn't quite enjoy it as much as I did the first book in this series.

This story relies heavily on miscommunication, which is a huge turn off for me. I will say I did enjoy Evan and Gen's character growth and how they both improve on themselves, which allows their relationship to be good and work this time around.

All in all, this book doesn't require alot of effort to read, so it's a great series to read by the pool during the summer. This one is just not my favorite.

I didn't realize this was part of a series when I requested it and didn't feel fully invested in the characters. Also not a huge fan of love triangles, so eh.

I tried. I really tried. I made it 60% of the way through and I just couldn’t do it anymore. The characters started to really annoy me and the angst was just… too much? There wasn’t very much character growth or stakes, and I unfortunately just grew bored.

I quite enjoyed Bad Girl Reputation, it was a sweet second-chance romance showing the power of forgiveness and personal growth. This is the second book in the series and I have previously read the third in the series so I knew a little bit about Genevieve and Evan but loved to get to know them better and explore more of Avalon Bay. Genevieve is back in town for a funeral after having left Avalon Bay for a year to get her life sorted out. She was tired of her wild habits, long nights of drinking and waking up not sure how and where she ended up.

Evan is born and raised in Avalon Bay and for as long as he can remember Gen has been the girl for him, he was shocked to realize she had left town without so much as a word. When Genevieve returns he feels compelled to reach out and try to rekindle their love.

The chemistry between the two is off the charts and it is clear to see how they could easily be so caught up in each other it would be hard to redraw the lines. Gen wants desperately to prove to herself and her family she has changed her ways and is ready to take on grownup responsibility. She hadn’t anticipated a move back to the Bay but once she is there it pulls her in and when unexpected opportunities come up it is near impossible to resist.

I really enjoyed this book, it s a great summer read – perfect for the beach! it didn’t quite captivate me the way The Summer Girl (the third book in the series) did and I am not sure why. I think it part of it was I really wanted to see them together but the majority of the book is centred around the tug-a-war of them possibly reuniting. It also dealt with more serious issues than the other book which while the book was great didn’t give me the same warm and fuzzy feelings. I look forward to reading Good Girl Complex, the first book in the series as well as others by this author.

Thank You to St Martin's Press for the gifted eARC. This does not affect my opinion of the book; I leave my honest review voluntarily.
