Fun, enemies-to-lovers romp in the mountains
4.5 stars
Disclaimer: Don‘t start reading in the late evening - you.might.lose.sleep! This is the major complaint I have about this fun romp which is set in the mountains. Where city-girl and hated-by-last name Kennedy lands not only in the middle of a snow storm but in a family feud she was not aware of. Her smart ass comments and her ongoing fight aka banter with the owner and neighboring lodge-owner Bridget had me laughing and smiling all along and I didn‘t want to put down this prolific fight. I loved this underhanded rom-com. The end is a bit short and could have been a bit more fleshed out.

Great novel! Very good humor with one of my favorite settings - enemies to lovers. I loved the way this novel is written and I'd gladly recommend it to all that like this theme.

Another Elle Spencer book and another enjoyable read. This book has all her winning traits, great MC chemistry and dialogue with a sprinkling of humour. I've reread a few of  Spencer's books. Would I reread this? Probably not but I'd still recommend it.

Really enjoyed this one! Enemies to lovers in the mountains, old family feud, and funny banter running through the whole book! Bridget inherited a ski lodge after her late father and is equally determined and terrified to keep the lodge going. On the other hand, Kennedy is traveling from Miami to deal with the ski lodge her father who is no longer able to deal with because of dementia. Unfortunately for both of the women, the years of hateful relations between their fathers soured the atmosphere on the Elk mountain and poisoned the air with a heap of prejudices. And it gets complicated when you are supposed to hate someone you are attracted to, right?

I was honestly not expecting one of the main characters to be such an ice queen at the beginning and even though it is not my favourite trope, I was so rooting for Kennedy to get through Bridget! I was clutching my e-reader and gritting my teeth because Bridget was at the beginning a big a-hole. And Kennedy really had bad luck right from the start with pretty much everything. All of it was a little bit frustrating to read but at the same time, it made the connection between the two women so much more satisfying.

The setting itself was also top-notch. Skiing is probably the only sport I'm passable at doing and I love snowy mountains, warm lodges with frosted over windows, and hot chocolate in front of a fireplace. I wish I could read this at a ski lodge in the middle of winter right after getting off the slope. This is a perfect book for that. Alas, I finished this book while traveling to uni in the May heat and enjoyed it too, so if any of the things above sparked your interest, I recommend picking this up. I for sure will pick something by Elle Spencer again because this was truly an enjoyable read for me.

Ms. Spencer brings her sense of humor once again to this enemies to lovers/romance comedy storyline. Our main characters, Kennedy and Bridget, had me smiling and laughing (especially Kennedy) throughout the book. Ms. Spencer has a way of writing that just has me drawn into the characters so easily, I feel like I am right there with them-a lot of that is due to the brilliant way Ms. Spencer fills the book with such rich dialogue, I feel like I am in the room and can just hear them talking rather than just reading words off a page (I am a sucker for a book filled with lots of dialog).

The storyline itself is very believable and the pace of the book has the story moving along that I actually finished it in one evening, ok and partly into the night, I was that into it. Having the family feud be the central point that brought the MC the angst then led into trust building, gave the story that relatable feeling I love with enemies to lovers genre.

Through the sense of humor, lots of dialogue, and oh ya some steamy.....well you know....Ms. Spencer once again brings us an entertaining, light hearted summer read.

A fun slow burn romance where enemies turn into lovers with low angst and low drama. The romance between Kennedy and Bridget was fun and dramatic. Kennedy had a great sense of humor and will make you laugh. I enjoyed the story very much and could not put it down. I recommend.

Really good fast read. The relationship between Kennedy and Bridget was equal parts cute, funny and dramatic. This was a slow burn enemies to lovers romance. There were some things about this book that makes me think that this should be a series or at least a second book. I felt that there were to many questions that needed to have answers or at least cleared up. I would definitely recommend this book to my friends and family, and I look forward to what comes next from this author.

This book was a fun read from page one, it went by so fast and if I'm honest I didn't want it to end. Both Bridget and Kennedy had a ton of chemistry and I found myself smiling a lot. The conflict and everything regarding Kennedy and Bridget's families made me a little emotional and seeing the growth and happiness throughout the book was very rewarding. I especially loved Kennedy and her persistence and humor.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bold Strokes Books for the eARC

The Bergs vs. the Flemmings was quite the showdown and I absolutely loved every second of this wonderful story! Kennedy’s sense of humor was the highlight of the shitshow that had become her stay on Elk Mountain. Bridget’s calm, cool exterior was enough to counteract Kennedy’s fire and their chemistry was off the charts. This book was such a delight to read and I could not put it down. This is a low angst, low drama, quirky adorable romance. Thanks Elle Spencer for another amazing read!

There’s great chemistry and funny dialogue but a disappointing ending partially ruins it for me.

Bridget Berg and Kennedy Fleming are immediately drawn to each other from the moment Kennedy steps off the helicopter at her father’s mountain top cabin. Bridget wants nothing to do with any of the Flemings after all the trouble Jerry Fleming has caused over the years. However, after the death of her father, the ski lodge is Bridget’s responsibility now and that means dealing with Kennedy whose series of mishaps keep leading her directly to Bridget.

Kennedy’s character is a shameless flirt and I loved how this played off the take no shit attitude Bridget pretended to convey. It had me laughing all throughout. Unfortunately, the ending really let me down on this one. Everything just sort of magically resolves itself off page at the end. <spoiler> Kennedy goes away for three months and while they seemed to have talked we don’t really know about what. She has just suddenly fixed everything with her brother and is ready to u-haul. </spoiler>

This is a cute story about two women who start out as enemies and end up as lovers. Bridget is an Olympic skier who is just starting to learn how to manage a ski resort that she inherited from her father who was a skiing legend and recently passed away. The adjoining property is owned by Kennedy Fleming’s family and they have been fuming over it for years.

This was a fun rom-com book with lots of great dialogue between the two MCs. Several lines hit home for me and made the book a four star read.

Arc received for a voluntary and honest review.

I looooove enemies to lovers romances and this one did not disappoint!! This is my 3rd book by Elle Spencer (my all-time favorite being Casting Lacey 😉) and I really like the way she writes and makes me feel all these feels 😍
Oh and this is my first ever ARC and I’m just so excited about that hehe
Okay, back to the review, what first drew me to this book was the description, because like I said before, I’m a sucker for the enemies to lovers trope and so I had to read this one ASAP, and wow!!!! The chemistry between Bridget and Kennedy is off the charts! I love it when I can feel the tension between the characters and oh boy, there was a lot of tension here hehe All the banter between them was very sexy and entertaining 👌🏻
Overall, this is a great book with a great story and some awesome characters. The only reason I’m not giving this 5* is because of the ending, it just felt a bit too rushed and I would have loved to read more. But other than that, it was perfect! I 100% recommend this one 💛

Enemies to lovers in the most charming way possible. I love the characters, the setting, the chemistry and the creative story line. Kennedy was so funny and enjoyable. She made the entire book. Bridget has some jerk tendencies, but ultimately she redeemed herself (somewhat). The love story line was a little jagged and I wish the characters spent more time in each other’s company before dropping the L bomb, but meh, that was easily overlooked. Solid and feel good!

Elle Spencer has a way of crafting a story and creating dynamic characters who exude witty and engaging dialogue. In A Long Way to Fall the sparks fly between ski lodge owner Bridget Berg and Kennedy Fleming who thinks she made the journey to Elk Mountain to sell her father’s old cabin at her brother’s request. Their dynamic begins as enemies and eventually transitions to friends and finally to lovers in this enjoyable rom-com. 4 stars

A long way to fall is an enjoyable - albeit cheesy - lesbian rom-com set in the cozy ski resort of Elk Mountain.

Bridget inherits the resort after the passing of her father, and the feud with the neighbors along with it. determined not to let the flemmings walk all over her, bridget is less than welcoming when kennedy turns up at the resort with no luggage, food or heating.

what unfolds after their initial meeting is a funny, lighthearted story of two girls learning to trust one another and overcoming the decade-long family dispute.

kennedy is the embodiment of chaotic lesbian, she’s flirty and she knows what she wants, while bridget is a little more reserved. I really enjoyed the queer rep in this book, and always love to get my hands on some own-voices books.

in terms of things that weren’t my favorite; this was a little too insta-love for my personal taste. the romance moved very quickly from enemies to lovers, and it takes only five days for one of the characters to drop the L word (love, not lesbian). As well as this, despite finding a lot of the dialogue amusing, some things the characters said did feel a little unnatural to me.

as a whole, it made for some easy light reading.

This was an unexpectedly fun read. The narrative is whacky and at times off-the-wall. There are some serious moments, but the story never takes itself too seriously so you shouldn’t either when reading.

The story flows well and I was immersed in the events from the start to the finish. It’s the kind of book that’s a safe, feel good read that moves quickly and has a cast of funny characters and ridiculous situations.

The sexual tension is fun and cute at times, but the love scene fell a bit flat with me as I found it formulaic (you know the drill: finger, finger, lick, lick, the big O, switch POV and repeat). Probably because the rest of the narrative has such a unique and funny voice that doesn’t work in a sexy scene so it ended up being a little on the meh side for me.

An enjoyable read that has some genuinely funny moments, running gags, quirky characters, and a cute, sometimes hilariously awkward love story. If you’re in the mood for a whacky lesbian modern-day retelling of Romeo and Juliet, this is for you.

I really enjoyed this. Absolutely loved it. The plot was good and I loved all the interactions between the mains. The drama did seem a little over the top at times with the generational dispute. Like, one conversation and half of the book would be unnecessary. But I felt like the ending definitely made up for it.

Typing a review had never been so conflicting as this.
This book was good, but got bad towards the end.
The chemistry between the main characters was on point, the dialogue was really good and had me smiling and laughing at times, but the ending felt rushed and had a pointless sex scene.
What do I mean? The build up was too much and the sex scene lacked romance, it was just lust and dirty talk that was not really according to the characters development the writer previously stablished.
Timing felt off and forced as well, as the main couple met and fell in love in less than a week.
What I am trying to say is that, the writing was good, the storyline was good, the chemistry was good, but the timing and character development lacked for me.
If you are going to write lovable characters, you need consistency when it comes to their behavior and way of presenting.

𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀.

An enemies to lovers romance and I was hooked! I think Elle Spencer did the enemies part really well. Too well, in fact, that I felt really bad for one of the characters, Kennedy. Kennedy's father owns a vacation home up in the snowy mountains and has a longstanding dispute with the neighbour who runs a ski lodge. The dispute is actually between two fathers who are no longer around/not physically capable of continuing the dispute, but their children decide to continue the tradition, or at least one of the daughters have. So Bridget, who has taken over the ski lodge decides to go all mean-girl on Kennedy.

That being said, Bridget isn't hateful. She's actually very nice and I like her. But I love Kennedy even more. Kennedy takes all the bullying aimed at her in stride. She's really resilient and humorous and a very charming woman and I fell hard for her. I love that Spencer does the lovers part equally well too. The banter between Bridget and Kennedy was really good and there's so much sparks.

This is a story I would totally recommend for fans of the enemies to lovers trope. A well written book indeed.

Bridget Berg and Kennedy Fleming are the daughters of the two men up on Elk Mountain who have long been feuding. Unfortunately Bridget is the only one aware of the preexisting conditions leaving Kennedy to wonder exactly why the beautiful former skiier has quite so much anger towards her. This was a super cute queer romance, enemies to lovers style, even though it's more like their fathers were enemies and Bridget just still has a bone to pick with anyone with the last name Fleming! Solid read, I'd have to give it 3 stars!
