All of the friends are bound together by secrets from their past & those secrets all come out during the bachelorette weekend.

Holly is getting married and her wedding party throws her a “hen” party at a glorious, albeit very remote, venue. There’s lots of alcohol, snarky friend rivalry, an unexpected guest, and a dead body in the pool: all the necessary ingredients to disrupt the well-planned getaway.
What transpires over the course of two days is the discovery of long held secrets between all the women that go back to their high school days and to one specific incident that involved all of them in some form: this is doled out piecemeal to the reader adding to the suspense.
Chapters focus on one particular character at a time as you learn what their involvement was in this ill fated night that happened decades ago and how they have dealt with it.
It all comes spewing out in a chilling story that you won’t be able to put down.

What a fantastic book.

This book tells the story of Holly who goes on her hen doo. However, tragedy strikes and someone is murdered and found floating in the pool and to add to the horror the murderer is one of the bridesmaids …. But which one?.

This was addictive and thrilling and I couldn’t put it down. O would definitely recommend it.

With friends like these......

Holly is getting married and she and her best friends are having a hen weekend! Drinking and fun for everyone - except, maybe for the body floating in the pool!

What could have gone wrong? A weekend to party, to relax, to unwind...to murder.

This was a book full of . DRAMA! Seriously, once it got started it didn't let up. These six women all have secrets - some bigger than others -much, much bigger.

The book is told in the here and now and in the past. As the secrets unravel, we learn more through flashbacks to the past and reveals in the present.

I chalk this book up to a fun weekend read. It hit the spot, was entertaining and enjoyable. This would also make a nice airplane book as it can easily be read in one sitting and you won’t grow bored.

Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All the thoughts and opinions are my own.

Wow. I don't think I have ever read a book where I disliked every character in it yet I couldn't put it down. It is a testament to the skill of the author that she managed to keep my interest. It is obvious from page one that someone is going to die but until the last minute we have no idea who. Everyone here has something to hide, something that will devastate another person and may give them a motive to commit the ultimate crime. This book captured my attention at the very beginning and kept me glued to my kindle until the last page. A really good read

When a story opens with a body in the pool and everyone clustered around in various degrees of hysteria, speculation, panic and anxiety, you know you’d better strap in for a wild ride! I was not disappointed.

Holly is getting married to lovely Aaron. Although she’s spent most of the past two decades mourning the tragic loss of her childhood sweetheart Joseph, who also happens to be the father of her teenage son Caleb, she’s found happiness again. Her close friends are all thrilled for her, and to show just how loved and supported she is, they’ve organised an overnight hen party at a gorgeous place, out in the middle of nowhere, where they can let their hair down and party the night away – just girls being girls, letting their hair down and having fun.

Holly’s friends Martha, Claire and Toni also knew Joseph and have been through these past awful years together, all sharing the loss of someone who was their friend too. They understand what it’s been like. Joining them for the party are Suzanne, who Holly met at a bereavement group and became close to, and Zoe, who Holly works with and who’s become a good friend.

But before they’ve even left home, things don’t go according to plan, and we can already see where lines start being drawn. It quickly becomes apparent that although these friends have arranged this party together, it’s Martha who has actually made most of the arrangements and done the bulk of the preparation (without letting the others know) due to her financial position. Don’t we all just LOVE people like this?! And from there, things don’t seem to improve. Regardless of how much they drink, how many fake smiles are produced and how many times they remind themselves that “we’re here for Holly” the bickering, back-biting and barbed comments keep coming thick and fast. And why is that, you may ask. Well, it wouldn’t be giving much away to let you in on a little secret: every single one of these ladies has so much to hide that it’s actually a miracle that they ever open their mouths for fear of somehow saying something they shouldn’t!

As heavy snow starts to fall and the group realizes that there’s probably no way they’ll be able to leave their remote luxury accommodation as per their original plans, panic starts to set in. Cracks are beginning to show and the last place they want to be is together (especially as the intermittent WiFi has now given up the ghost). But that’s exactly where they are, and they can’t leave – they’re snowed in! Holly is horrified as she begins to discover that these women, her dearest friends who have been by her side during her darkest times, are perhaps not quite the people she thought they were. Meanwhile Holly’s cupboard isn’t short of a few skeletons either! With this bunch it seems to be a case of keeping your friends close and your enemies closer.

This is an unputdownable, fast-paced 5-star thriller. Told from alternating points of view (Holly, Claire, Suzanne), one might wonder why we only hear from three of these women, but the author cleverly tells Martha, Toni and Zoe’s stories through them and avoids adding confusion by giving us 6 POV’s. Just a heads up though, none of the characters is particularly likeable! For me, this adds a bit of extra spice to the plot – I just need to know what heinous thing each horrible person will do next?!

You might just have whiplash by the time you’ve finished with this one, because the twists just keep coming and they don’t let up. But I promise you, it’s well worth a few painkillers, and possibly a couple of days in a neck-brace.

Would highly recommend this book., it was such a brilliant read. I loved that the book describes each character and each of them has a lot of secrets and each has their story to reveal as the book unfolds leaving you wanting to carry on reading as the suspense made you unable to put the book down. It had lots of twists and turns but at the end everything was revealed and finished very well. A must read.

The Bridesmaids by Victoria Jenkins follows a group of women at a hen party that results in murder. The book switches between before and after the murder, with different characters narrating each chapter. At first this style made it difficult to distinguish the characters from one another, but it became easier as the book went on.
While the plot was initially intriguing, I quickly got tired of the cattiness and awfulness of each character to the point that I couldn’t care what happens to them in the end. If you enjoy dramas with twists and unlikeable characters then this might be the book for you.

This is a getaway the friends won't ever forget
Where secrets and lies make it the worst one yet
There's also a death - but who is the killer
What an intriguing read is this suspense filled thriller!

The friends may think they know each other
But there are so many secrets they're about to discover
The lies that have been told for many years
May end their friendships and add to their fears.

A hen party with friends but what are they concealing?
The twists in this story will have you reeling!
They may have been friends for many years
But this hen party will end with most in tears.

I can't remember a story with so many twists and surprises
And the shock revelations create as they each realise
That though they've been friends for years, even so,
They each have secrets the others didn't know.

For my complementary copy, I say thank you,
A fascinating read and this is my honest review

I did enjoy this book for the most part, but did put in down for a day or two and wasn't in a big hurry to pick it up again.

I have read a lot of "locked room" type mysteries lately, where the characters are in an isolated place unable to escape. I generally love these types of books, but despite a strong start, I found this one hard to follow and it felt disjointed.

The protagonists were pretty much all fairly unlikeable, which may have been the point. This did add to the secrets and lies between them and the tension, but I find it usually helps if I can empathise with at least one character! I also struggled with keeping track of who was who at times.

The revelations were cleverly told, however, the way that basically everyone had something fairly major to hide was quite difficult to find believable.

All in all, an okay read, but not one of the best books I've read recently.

Thanks to the publishers Bookouture and Net Galley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

“Lies are hard to hold onto – slippery, malignant things that are difficult to keep under control.”

I loved so many things about this book. The isolated setting, and the extreme weather conditions, certainly add to the sense of danger and claustrophobia, further exacerbated by some unexpected guests.

The characters provided a little bit of an issue for me at first. Although it’s understandable that Victoria didn’t want to produce likeable or empathetic characters, I found the number of multiple perspectives and different strands quite difficult to follow, at first. This is definitely a complex story, with a huge tangled web of lies that needs to be ironed out. As a reader, you feel a little lost and unsettled for a while, but that may well have been the author’s intentions.

I slowly began to understand the characters, their differences and their motives. Here, the multiple perspectives comes into their own as all the women have different theories about what each of them is hiding, and you begin to build your own opinions based on this.

There were quite a few unexpected twists, and one in particular that I really didn’t see coming. I’d say that probably, for the the last 35% of the book at least, I was hooked and gobbled it down. I had to know the outcome!

This book is really well-written and provides an insightful and original exploration into the danger of secrets and lies. I did have sympathy for Holly in the end, but not much!

“Tell yourself something enough times and eventually it becomes the truth.”
