Edward and Amelia - Edward is perceived as a rake, and Amelia is about to begin her first season. Unfortunately, the heroine had no chaperone, so when she met the hero and because of their predicament - they had to enter a marriage of convenience. I wanted to read the book because I was curious about how the author would go about the union of a rake and a lady.

The author mentions the heroine's visible scars, and she was treated because that affected how she views herself. A glimpse of her thoughts: "Being in this unknown city constantly scrutinized by a family that could not see past her scars was unbearable."

I was not too fond of the antagonists were a bit far-fetched. Some parts were interesting, and I didn't particularly appreciate how the conflict revolved around gossip and conniving characters. It could have been quickly resolved by better communication from both parties. I also hated how her sister treated her, especially how she laced it with fake concern. However, I liked how the heroine was direct and vocal sometimes, and it can be a tad insensitive to the hero. The heroine had a lot of growing up to do. She did not have anyone around when her mother died. She felt alone and neglected. Whenever Amelia's family saw her, it was to criticize or pity her. Then it became difficult for her to trust her husband's words. The music she plays reflects her soul: full of sadness. Lady Cromwell was my favorite out of all the characters. She gave good advice and knew when to intervene.

My favorite quote: "Authentic connection is nothing to be frightened of."

I recommend this book to anyone interested in a clean, marriage-of-convenience trope. Thank you to the publisher for allowing me to read an arc in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I give it 2.5 Stars.

This is the second book I’ve read by Karen Thornell, and it definitely won’t be the last! I really enjoyed getting to know Edward and Amelia. They are written in such a charming and endearing way. It was easy to get invested in their relationship.

On the downside, the resolution of the story was stretched out using lack of communication and Amelia’s willingness to believe obviously spiteful individuals rather than trusting her husband who has treated her with kindness at all times. This is actually addressed somewhat by the characters at the end, but it took just a little too long for my personal tastes.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me an advanced copy!

This is the first book I have read by this author. I will definitely be reading more from her. I really enjoyed this story immensely! So much witty banter, humor and mystery.!

I absolutely loved Edward and Amelia. Their characters were well developed and heartwarming. I enjoyed their journey as they struggled through their many obstacles to a happily ever after.

This book was a joy to read. I was fully engaged from the very beginning. I would highly recommend this book if you are looking for a smartly written, clean, love story with all the feels.

Thank you to NetGalley for an advanced reader copy.

I LOVED this book! I would have liked a little more time to get used to the characters before the action started, but when it did, it was up from there. The first scene with Edward and Amelia was played up more than I think it would have been in real life, but after that everything else worked with it. I was a little worried that since it is about a 'married' couple, that it would be inappropriate, but I am happy to report that kissing is as far as they went (though a bit more was implied later) The build up of their relationship felt very natural and smooth.
Writing quality: 8/10
Romance: 10/10
Setting/Historical Fiction: 8/10
Overall, I would give this book a 9/10.

Edward and Amelia is not the first book i have read from this author. And I was really excited to read it...

The story is told from the perspective of the two main charaters, Edward and Amelia (who would have thought...) :).

They meet under circumstances which lead to ruining Amelia's reputiation (Edward's is already quite ruined...) and marry. They get to know eachother better though Amelia doesn't trust Edward because she does not know what to make of all the women Edward has supposedly ruined. And at the same time Amelia harbors her own secrets.

The charaters and side charaters were amazingly built and also the evil charaters were not clearly defined which made the book far more interesting.

And the spaaarks :))) And the maany awww scenes :) And the two dowager countesses ;)

I loved that the love built slowly and there were naturally many scenes were they were alone.

And I just love a good book about a rake...

(Other good rake books:
A proper scoundrel: Esther Hatch
Romancing the Rake: Nicole Van)

Main Characters: Clear Backgroundstory, Locigal Actions, Very much Charater development
Side Charactes: Clear Backgroundstory, Interesting
Writing Style: Very good
Content: Clean, just kissing
Violence: Medium, non graphic descriptions but abuse of family members
Would recommend: Yes, give it a try :)

I absolutely adored this book from the first to last page. Edward and Amelia were two interesting and fascinating main characters with multiple layers. I have to thank Karen for writing a book that kept me up way too late, a story that I love, and for creating one of the most disliked villains I’ve read in a long time.
I genuinely enjoyed the experience of reading this book. There only reason it’s not five stars is because I felt like the problems between Edward and Amelia could have been resolved faster. A romance book that has miscommunication between the two main characters can be typical, but I just wish that Edward would have been more upfront and Amelia could have given him the benefit of the doubt more.
Other than that I completely loved this sweet regency romance and I highly recommend it to any historical romance reader. I am so excited to see what comes next from Karen.

I think the author does a great job at crafting sympathetic characters, so I was easily rooting for this couple to get their happily-ever-after. But this book also contained my least favorite obstacle in fiction: the refusal by both main characters to have a couple of even halfway honest conversations to clear up the things they're worried about in their relationship. The angst went on for a very long time, not to mention being compounded by a couple of conniving enemies that also get a bit tiring after a while.
I enjoy Karen Thornell's writing so much, just as I did in "To Marry an Earl." So it's just that this particular combo of plot points didn't work for me. But I sure do hope to meet up with some of her future plots that are a little more in my line.

A book that keeps you reading as it weaves its magic around you.
This book showcases how miscommunication, perceptions and lack of communication can work together to harm self and others while it tells an engaging story. Edward, Earl of Norwich, is reputed to be a rake and has been happy with that in the past but now he is determined to get married. It should be easy he’ll just approach it rationally. Amelia id the youngest daughter of a duke and has just begun her first season, but all is not well for her. Having lost her mother years earlier and having her father distance himself from her, Amelia’s upbringing has been delegated to a governess and her oldest sister Edith. However, Edith and her twin, Henrietta, seem to be more concerned over Amelia’s faults and especially her scars than over helping her in her first season. When the twins, led by Edith, again decide to belittle Amelia she rushes out of their London townhouse to escape for a minute and becomes lost. After wandering for a while, she encounters Edward, who in an attempt to help her, lands her in a pond. They are soon discovered by members of the Ton and the scandal begins. Mix in a hasty marriage, a husband with no idea how to treat his wife, a wife terrified of having secrets revealed, a scheming sister, a distant father, and two substitute mothers and you have a book with not only fun episodes that make you laugh but depth of hurts both past and present that will make you hurt along with them. This is a book that will keep you reading as you are engulfed in the characters joys, sorrows, triumphs, and tragedies. Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the copy. This is my review and all thoughts are my own.

I always enjoy her style of writing. While this wasn’t one of my favorites from this author I would still recommend to those to read it who enjoy a clean regency romance.

Edward and Amelia is an enjoyable story that follows Karen Thornell's other book, To Marry an Earl, although it doesn't look to be part of a series. It did take a minute for me to remember what had occurred with Edward previously in the other book. I don't think it is absolutely necessary to have read the other book first., but there are continuing characters and events referenced in Edward and Amelia that occurred in To Marry an Earl so it could be helpful to read that one first.
I like several of the tropes in this book- forced marriage and second chances, character change and redemption, etc. I enjoyed seeing behind Edward's facade and who he truly is. He is the great man he wanted to be, it just took him awhile to realize it and find the motivation to change. He had put up a mask and it took time, trust and love to break down the fear and walls that he hid behind. It was nice to see Edward's and Amelia's relationship blossom and grow, but I do feel like there could've been a little bit better communication and voicing of one's opinion. Amelia seemed to be fiery one minute and then a doormat the next and just seemed a little tedious after awhile. i wanted to like her character more than I did. Overall it was a great read and I recommend this book.

I cannot give this book enough praise! This is a true romance novel. The whole book is about Edward and Amelia falling in love with some interference from her sister. I read this book so slowly so I could savor the great details and moments. A definite must read!!

I love a girl who comes out of her shell! This was a good, redemption and empowerment story. It builds on other books of this author, but would be fine as a stand alone as well.

This is my first book by this author. I enjoyed the story of Edward and Amelia, as they get caught in circumstances which force them to get married. Amelia has been the forgotten and pitied last child after her mother passes away and her accident, Edward never gave any consideration to the gossip of society and thus didn’t ever take time to set the record straight about the accusations flying against him. This makes for a difficult start to their relationship. What they never could’ve predicted was how others could use these secrets as ammunition against them.

It’s a story of learning the heart of another and battling against the influence of gossip. This is my first book by this author and I enjoyed it!

This book was just too cute! I loved everything about it. Edward and Amelia is Karen Thornell’s second regency book, and it was even better than her first! Edward and Amelia is such a fun book. Marriages of convenience are one of my favorite troupes and this was just amazing!
Okay so first I loved the characters; they felt so real and relatable. I was able to connect with them right from the start. They were fascinating to read about, and I loved seeing behind their walls. The plot was absolutely fantastic and I loved reading about Edward and Amelia connecting. There were just a lot of amazing moments, and the side characters were also lovely.
Amelia was super sweet but she was also fiery and full of life. I felt for her as she had to endure her family. It was fun to read about her interacting with Edward, there were times when she was able to be herself. I loved Amelia from the beginning and I really enjoyed her growth throughout the book. She learned to be herself and to trust Edward. But Amelia will have to decide if she is willing to risk her heart for love.
Ah, Edward, poor Edward. He had a lot going and honestly he was a mess at times but I adored him. Edward had been putting up a front for society for so long and now he was trying to figure out who he truly was. Edward didn’t believe in marriage and yet he found himself married to Amelia. There were times when he started to believe it could work, but Edward had to learn to fight for Amelia and figure out how to love her.
All in all, this book was simply amazing! I would totally recommend it! I loved everything about it, the characters were engaging and the story was interesting. I read it in one day. Edward and Amelia is a clean regency romance.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the publisher through Netgalley. All views expressed are only my honest opinion, a positive review was not required.

Edward and Amelia, by Karen Thornell, begins with Edward Drayton, the Earl of Norwich, being shot down for the first time in his life. The woman he wants to marry is interested in choose another man. Previously he had been the one to reject the woman. This is far from ideal because Edward has plans to find the ideal wife!

Amelia Kennington, daughter of a duke, has escaped her family’s London home to find reprieve from her hateful older sister. Unfortunately, she encounters Edward in the park and they end up in a rather compromising situation. Before they know it, Amelia is married to this former rake!

Watch as Edward and Amelia slowly get acquainted. There will be many surprises along the way!

Another great Regency from Karen Thornell! I love her characters and enjoyed reading this book so much. There is so much that happens in this book - I don’t know how she fit everything into such a relatively short 200-ish pages but it’s amazing! Many of the scenes feel like a nod to the classic Regency era which I love, but this book is fresh and entirely its own thing. I highly recommend it to fans of Regency romance!

(Also, is Mr. Weston getting his own story? Pretty please?! I need more books ASAP!)

I received a copy of this book through the publisher through Netgalley. All opinions are my own.

He has a bad reputation as a man who is ruing young noble ladies . She is a Dukes daughter and had an accident which envolve him . Her father demands they must marry . Will these two personalities make it ?
I received this book from netgalley and the puclisher as an arc . Thank you . All thoughts and opinions are my own .

This book was pretty good. Edward left me a little confused and I was not sure what was happening with him. With being such a reprobate, he should have more common sense. He was a bit of a walking contradiction. Amelia is the best, but she's super creative!

This is a tough review for me, I wanted to like this book more than I did. In the forced marriage trope I find the two parties can either be like, well, we didn't want this, but let's try to make the best of it, or they can be angry and determined to be miserable. Unfortunately I found this book went the latter direction too much. Particularly with Amelia who, in my opinion, seemed set on believing the absolute worst of Edward, taking the word of complete strangers and bullies over his. Amelia irritated me, and for the majority of the book, I frankly thought Edward could have done better, and yet he made a mull of things? Too much blame was put on his shoulders. I don't know, perhaps I'm wrong, but Amelia's assumptions of her husband's character just rubbed me the wrong way. That's not to say there's anything wrong with the writing, there isn't, and I'd certainly read the author again, I simply took issue with character choices, but that's me, others will probably love this more than I did. I received an ARC from the publisher via netgalley for an honest review
