This one was a little slow to start for me but the climactic ending built beautifully. Perfect for fans of Desperate Housewives type stories featuring wealthy, upper crust women and the cliquey/catty social circles they run in. Great on audio with a full cast of some of my favorite female narrators. If you loved The mother next door or The sinful lives of trophy wives you will want to pick this one up. 📖What actually happens:

Drama is going down in Buckhead, a suburb with far too much wealth and free time. The women are cattier than ever when one of their own freshly divorced after her husband left her for a younger model. Of course the gossipy blame is placed on the women involved and never the man.

The wealthy ladies of Buckhead perform their daily ritual of grooming and gossiping and the prestigious salon where one can get pubes ripped from the vag and a healthy dose of what’s what going on the community.

Of course there is the meanest of rude bitches, Olivia, who leads the women in her own personal vendetta against everyone and everything.

There have been many crimes committed and now an investigation has ensued to unmask the dirt of this close-knit (and minded) hamlet.

🗯Thoughts:

Give me a book about catty women and I’ll devour is, eating up that gossip and decide like it’s my last meal on death row.

If you’re a fan of the real housewives, this book is for you! Ironically I cannot handle the drama of reality tv and avoid like the plague but live for it in literature.

Every single rich person in this book is an asshole. Ok except crystal the mistress; you’ll have a soft spot for that sweet doe-eyed gal. But was I fascinated by them? Absolutely.

Olivia is a sociopathic spider with the rest of the ladies tangled in her web. Some assistance in truly grasping the character of queen bee Olivia, her book club choice was the newest edition of Vogue

I loved this book! This is the first book I read by the author and my first thought was like I need to go back and read all her other books! If the real housewives series had a murder on the show I feel like this book would be the script! 😅 It was so engaging and I totally did not predict the end. Multiple POVs can sometimes be confusing to follow along but I was able to just fine even with the audio book!

BIG LITTLE LIES meets HUNTING WIVES. author is a master of character development, pacing, and plotting. brief synopsis: Bryce the politician divorced Shannon to marry a younger woman Crystal. both women move in the same circles of the wealthy town of Buckhead. the social scene is strikingly affluent, and the book never shies away from unrestrained opulence and drama. most characters are usually unlikable, and many scenes take place in the women’s favorite salon, Jenny’s. I didn’t predict the ending.

Whew!! This was quite the book!!! I received an Audio ARC via NetGalley (which I requested because of that cover art and the narrator cast 🙌). This is probably my favorite thriller cover in the history of thriller covers. 🤩 #CoversMatter

This was a fast-paced, domestic thriller that (eventually) answers the question: "who died, and who killed them?"

I've never watched an episode in full, but I kept thinking "This reminds me of one of those 'Housewives' reality TV shows." SoOoOo much rich people drama and cattiness.

This book is told from multiple POVs, and thanks to the large narrator cast, it was easier than expected to keep the characters straight. This is sometimes a struggle of mine, with multiple POVs. But not the case here! Each character had their own personality and voice (which I think would still transfer over in print).

"One of Us is Dead" kept me engaged the entire time, and I flew threw it! And the narrators all did an excellent job. Highly entertaining! I was torn between 4 - 4.5 stars on this one. ✨

This was like desperate housewives on crack! I had to laugh when I read their book club read and discussed Vogue. Who does that? These ladies do!

These women did not save that drama for their mama, that is for sure! Oh, how deliciously devious and spoiled these women were.

Shannon-divorced when her husband met a younger woman. Of course, she is angry, hurt, and bitter. On top of that her ex-husband's new wife is in her social circle.

Crystal- the new young beautiful wife who married Shannon's ex-husband.

Olivia - is cruel, meal and hides behind “just kidding" when she is nasty to others. It is her mission to bring down Shannon.

Jenny - owns an exclusive spa and knows all of the ladies’ secrets.

Karen - is married with a child. Yet, she yearns for something else.

All these women have secrets. All want to protect their secrets. How fare will anyone go to protect their secret. That is the question.

So juicy, so much fun, so full of petty backstabbing and cruel comments. I could not stop listening This was such a fun book/audio book. The narrators did such an amazing job. I didn't want to turn it off.

I highly recommend the audiobook. I was aghast at some of their antics. Others I felt for. I had some eye rolling moments! This was such a fun guilty pleasure! I have to say this was one of my favorite audiobooks so far this year!

Do yourself a favor and join in the fun by picking up this book.

Perhaps I’ve read/watched too many similar stories but I found myself bored by this one. And by the time the big reveals came at the end - I didn’t much care. Too many over the top awful characters doing awful things and I just didn’t care about any of them by the end.

This was an entertaining read perfect for fans of drama filled TV shows, "housewife" thrillers, books with many alternating points of view and a glimpse into the world of the very elite. Think Big Little Lies, mixed with Real Housewives and Desperate Housewives. From the very first chapter I was captivated by the plot and drawn in.

For the women living in the Buckhead neighborhood of Atlanta, money is no problem. However, with wealth comes secrets and lies, backstabbing friendships and endless scandals. This story follows five women: Olivia, the new queen bee of the group, Shannon, the former “it girl” who is going through a divorce, Crystal, the"new girl” who stole Shannon’s husband, Karen a strong-willed real estate agent, and Jenny, a salon owner who survives off her wealthy clients. In the first chapter we learn that someone is killed though we don't know who is dead and why. The chapters then dive into the weeks leading up to the murder with just enough twists and turns to keep you guessing.

I do have to say that despite being a very easy and quick read, I do wish there was more character development. The ending was quite unbelievable. Still, I was so into it for the drama!

Oh this was rock solid and evil in the best ways! I feel like If Desperate Housewives and the Real Housewives had a baby, it would be this! And I am here for it!!
The women of Buckhead, in Atlanta are ultra wealthy, super plastic and vain and all around horrible to each other. Their group is run by Olivia, at least in her mind anyway and now that Shannon has been cast aside by her politician husband, Bryce, for the younger model Crystal, who was a poor waitress from Texas and is now way out of her league with these women, Olivia sees it as her chance to actual be the leader. Olivia has had enough playing second fiddle and will do whatever it takes to take the number one spot. Anything
Karen is the only one of the group with a child, and she just wants life to be simple for her little family, despite her dissatisfaction with her marriage. And Jenny owns Glow, the salon and spa that is the hot spot in Buckhead to be seen at and as such, Jenny has access to many of their secrets, even when they don’t know that she knows.
When all these big personalities combine, the result is explosive and bingeable and there were so many juicy secrets that there ended up with a murder. There’s loads of snippy comments and fancy labels and characters that you love and characters that you hate. This is going to be the boom of the summer and I can’t wait! Of this isn’t a Netflix series asap, I will revolt!
The audiobook was phenomenal as well-I love when there’s a full cast reading because it adds so much depth to the story as well as the characters anise these witchy southern women were played fabulously!

I was lucky enough to receive both the ebook and audiobook of this amazing book. I listened to 90% of the audiobook but my family went to sleep and I NEEDED to finish this so I read the last 10%. This book is the ONLY guilty pleasure book that you need to read this year. It has everything! A deep mystery, sex, affairs, money, politicians, murder and lots and lots of catty angsty women. This book was like a breath of fresh air to read. I have been a fan of Jeneva Rose's writing since her first book and I can honesty say that I think she is at her best in this novel.
The audiobook of this was great, there were multiple women playing the multiple women in the book and I love when a publisher is able to provide that to the reader. It really gives you a sense of a change of the characters when listening to the story. I really think this made the book flow and I didn't get lost when there was a new character speaking. I highly recommend the audiobook.
But no matter what format you decide to get, read this book! Put it on your TBR now. Just be warned, get cozy, get a snack and sit down for a marathon read of this. You won't want to put it down!

I went back and forth between digital and audio on this one. I really enjoyed the audio because it helped me keep all the different POVs straight. These women were just so catty and unlikeable. The ending didn't do it for me. But it was a quick read that definitely held my attention! If you're a fan of any of the Housewives shows, give this one a try.

This book blew me away, it had big little liar/desperate housewives vibes and I am here for it. So much fun reading the dramatics unfold, all ties into a murder mystery. There is a secret gay affair, sex trafficking, too much plastic surgery, new money, old money and lots of marital drama and catty women. I loved every word!! Loved the salon being the “club house” for the women. Perfect fun read.

One Of Us Is Dead has big Big Little Lies energy, and proudly so. The setup is very similar: rich town, catty housewives, and, as the title declares, one of them is dead. The POV alternates between all the women, in the past before the accident, as well as Jenny’s POV in present-day, being interviewed by the police.

I am a huge fan of rich-person drama, so I was sold right from the description. Centered around the gossip of a hair salon? What a great setting.

This is the third book I’ve read by Jeneva Rose, and I fell in love with her writing with the very first, The Perfect Marriage. She has a way of spinning very fun stories and drawing you right in. I loved how she had me changing my allegiances constantly throughout the story, and in the end I liked characters that I never thought I would.

I binged this audiobook in one go, and would definitely recommend listening to the audio copy if possible. The full cast of narrators (Andi Arndt, Hillary Huber, Elizabeth Evans, Brittany Pressley, and Cassandra Campbell) did an amazing job of bringing this story to life.

The drama and cattiness of these women was so fun to listen to, and I couldn’t wait to find out who was dead and why. This book comes out on April 26, 2022, and I certainly recommend adding it to your TBR shelf before then.

I loved the readers on this audiobook! I felt that having multiple narrators really brought out the true life of the story and the characters. I loved the book so much, and I loved the audio just as much, if not more!

WHAT A RIDE. This book was SO FUN. I went into it completely blind after seeing it around a little bit and loved the quick mystery and drama. It has short chapters (which I like) and multiple points of view (which I like) so I got into it pretty fast, and actually found myself listening at 2am when I couldn’t sleep one night.

I think the main mystery of the book is who died, and who the murderer is, but I was having so much fun hanging out with these women, I didn't really care. The women are so privileged, and behave so bizarrely it was a joy just to spend time with them and read about the antics in their lives. And if there are some crimes committed along the way? So be it.

I wasn’t clear why the characters were friends, why they spent time together or even if they really are friends, but that's actually woven into the plot really well, which I liked.

I really appreciated the different voices for each characters chapters, it made it easy for me to follow along with the quick perspective changes.

The mystery kept me guessing for most of the book all the reveals and twists happen near the end. Even though this is something I usually don’t like, the pure chaos of the characters and their lives kept me entertained through the book.

I previously read and enjoyed this twisty, scandalous popcorn thriller, and being an audiobook lover, I was excited to listen to One of Us is Dead in audiobook format. And it was just as entertaining the second time around with its over-the-top wickedness brought to life. The book centers around an upscale salon and a group of wealthy, competitive women in Buckhead, an exclusive enclave of Atlanta. Who will, or quite literally won't, survive this ruthless group's backstabbing, secrets, power struggles, and scandals?
The story is told in multiple POV format, and each character/chapter is brought vividly to life by a different narrator, and honestly, I don't think this could have been any more perfectly cast. Each narrator is perfect for their character, particularly the voice of Olivia; her performance was practically dripping venom, and I loved it! Although, maybe I loved to hate it, as the catty Olivia is a real piece of work. This story lends itself well to audiobook format and was a binge-able guilty pleasure. Very entertaining and kept me listening even though I knew how the story would end. If you liked Big Little Lies, you might want to check this out! Quick read! Fun and entertaining! I felt like I was imagining a desperate housewives episode, well reading. I really enjoyed this book, can’t wait to read more by this author.

This book was a blast! There was a brief period in my life where I spent quite a bit of time in Buckhead, a wealthy enclave of Atlanta. While I am sure it has changed even since then, I recognized the "Buckhead" mentality. There were six leading ladies in this novel, a high-end salon owner, her one employee, and four of their rich clients. Olivia is the first client we are introduced to, and she is awful right out of the gate. She is a social-power-hungry housewife. Even when she is narrating and thus the thoughts being written are supposed to be her own, she showed not a shred of insecurity. (Personally, I have never met someone that was all bad. Olivia comes pretty close to that, which rendered her the most unbelievable character.) Karen is a high powered realtor married to a high powered plastic surgeon. Shannon is a recently divorced housewife whose used to be top-dog of the social scene, and how that her husband has divorced her for a younger woman, Olivia is determined to stomp Shannon into dust....relentlessly. Crystal is the younger wife Shannon's husband left her for. She is eager to fit into the social circle now led by Olivia, but she is basically sweet and naive about how cutthroat that circle will be. Jenny, the salon owner, hears and sees everything through her secondary role as pseudo-therapist as her clients are under her care.

As the book opens, we know there has been a death, but we don't know who. Is it one of the rich clients or their powerful husbands? The mystery is to figure out who is the victim AND who is the killer and why. It was a fun ride and I would recommend it to any thriller lovers.

Five of the women had separate narrators on the audio version and each was great. Extra props to Olivia's narrator for not audibly giggling as she had to deliver some of her most extreme lines.

I read this on kindle before the formatting error w the chapters was fixed. I decided to give the Audio a chance and unfortunately this was still a dud for me. I love this author and can’t wait to see what else we get!
