I really wanted to love this book! I work the front desk at a salon and spa, so when I saw that one of the main characters was also a hairstylist I was giddy to read it (& hopefully be able to recommend the book to all of my coworkers) - but alas, that was not the case.

While I enjoyed Rose's writing, and will probably go backwards and pick up her first novel THE PERFECT MARRIAGE, I just couldn't motivate myself to pick this one up. Reading it was taking me forever because I just wasn't invested - maybe it was a "I'm not in the mood for it" kind of thing...

But more likely it was that I wasn't ROOTING for anyone!
It's the same reason I quit watching Mad Men, if I don't care what happens to the characters, I can't make myself keep going. And most of the women in this book were...kind of horrendous human beings. Except maybe Jenny - who seemed a little bit too naive to live in this town to be honest.

So I might pick it back up later, but for now, it's a no from me.

One Of Us Is Dead is like a Real Housewives situation in a Steel Magnolias setting and I loved it!! There were catty women, fussing over who would be chairperson of the board of blah blah, galas and fancy parties for everyone to show off their big money, and oh, a new girl in town. We have a woman scorned and another to take her place. We also have difficult marriages and relationships struggling about that almighty dollar and the status it provides them. We have draaaama. And we have murder. The story opens with a detective questioning an elite salon owner and is from there told from several perspectives, the women in the affluent community of Buckhead, just outside of Atlanta, GA. Who is this new woman and why are the women in such an uproar?? And what in the world are their husbands up to?? This is a book full of questions and it takes its time delivering any of the answers! Well done! I loved it! Thank you, NetGalley and Blackstone Publishing!! This was a real treat to listen to! The full cast was excellent!!

Title: One Of Us Is Dead
Author: Jeneva Rose
Rating: 5/5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Happy Pub Day!!! What a wild ride this one was. I really enjoyed everything about this book. This one was like a desperate housewives meets the beauty salon, where all women's deepest darkest secrets are told. It was such a well written story of how dark and twisted some of the rich really truly live. I loved how this story went between all of the main characters POV in the past, but then through Jenny's POV in the present time. It was very easy to keep track of and I felt like it gave me much more of an insight to each character. I actually didn't mind the majority of the characters, I just couldn't stand Olivia. I honestly have never wanted to slap a character more.

I love how this story was set up, throughout the entire story, you're not entirely sure who was murdered; you're just aware that a murder has been committed and that Jenny is explaining to the police why she isn't shocked that it happened at all. There were definitely points that I felt like any one of the characters could have been a victim. I love how @jenevarose kept me guessing thoughout most of the novel.

Now lets talk about that ending though... Seriously, loved it. It was perfect for this story. It had enough of a wow factor to make my jaw drop, but it was a realistic enough explanation that made it very believable. I was lucky enough to listen to this one via audio and I fell in love with the full cast, it really drove home each of the characters. Overall, I couldn't put this one down, I really felt like I got sucked into this group of girls drama and secrets. This was a phenomenal read for sure.

Huge thank you to @netgally and @jenevarose and @blackstonepublishing for this audio in exchange for my honest review. One Of Us Is Dead is out now, be sure to pick it up!!

I’m not a huge thriller reader, but I really enjoyed this book. The plot was really interesting and enjoyable, I was on the edge of my seat waiting to find out what happened. That being said, I feel like the ending was a bit too predictable and I knew what was going to happen since almost the beginning of the book. I was really hoping for a twist that would shock me and it didn’t come. However, I’m still happy with the way it ended, it felt like a good ending despite it being predictable.

I didn’t feel very invested in any of the characters and didn’t really like any of them. I know they weren’t necessarily supposed to be likeable characters; however, I feel like the best characters are the ones who have flaws but you still like them anyway, I didn’t feel this way about any of the characters. I just didn’t care what happened to any of them.

I received an Audiobook copy of this book. I enjoyed the narration and really liked that each character had a different narrator, it made it easier to follow. All of the narrators did a great job and I enjoyed listening to it.

Overall, I enjoyed this book a lot and had a good time listening to it, I just didn’t like any of the characters all that much.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an audiobook copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

ONE OF US IS DEAD - JENEVA ROSE

⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5

"Opulence. Sex. Betrayal … Sometimes friendship can be deadly."

Thank you to @netgalley, @blackstonepublishing and @jenevaroseauthor for the ARC of this book.

This was such a fun listen. It was filled with drama and mystery and gave me major Desperate housewives vibes.

I did feel like there was quite a bit of rich society drama and it was slow to reveal the crime details, so if this isn't your cup of tea this book may not be for you.

I loved the narrators and the chapters from multiple POVs that slowly unravel the truth behind who was the killer.

This was a fun drama mystery for me and a perfect book to break up some heavier thrillers.

I absolutely loved this audio with the cast of narrators! A fast paced Murder mystery that has at some moments a soon setting this hairdresser for 10 years loved that! Every chapter ending I kept saying ok just one more! Fast paced I definitely need to check out Jeneva’s other books!

If you like desperate housewives, real housewives, selling sunset, or Heathers you will enjoy this one. (No longer sharing star reviews on IG but I do recommend this book!)

Blurb: Opulence. Sex. Betrayal … Sometimes friendship can be deadly.

Meet the women of Buckhead—a place of expensive cars, huge houses, and competitive friendships. When one of them is dead the only person who knows all the gossip in town, the elite salon owner who hears and sees everything, is exactly who the detectives take in for questioning.

My 💭: This is a book full of characters you will love to hate. A couple were redeemable but, you still hate them. Most of all Olivia. But no matter how much I hated her I did look forward to her chapters too. Each woman in Buckhead has a reason to kill.

All I want to know is who is making this limited series?! It needs to be on screen and read like a Big Little Lies like program. I can’t wait until it is on screen because I refuse to think they won’t option it in some way.

The full cast of this audiobook made this a beautiful production and only added to my want of it being on screen!

Thank you Netgalley and Blackstone Publishing for this alc in exchange for a review!

This was another .#bookstagrammademedoit and I am so happy it did! What a fun and addictive read. I listened to this in a day, The cast narration was so well done and I couldn't get enough of it. A well written whodunnit that will keep you guessing - who is dead.

Narrated by: Andi Arndt, Hillary Huber, Elizabeth Evans, Brittany Pressley, Cassandra Campbell

These wealthy women of Buckhead were out of control! Centred around Glow Beauty Bar, owned by Jenny., this is an unofficial clubhouse for these ladies if you like. You need a membership to go here and have alot of treatments in a month. Only the best for these women. Olivia is by far the most controlling and hideous woman! What won't she do to get ahead - nothing! The other women tolerate her because they have to, otherwise she will take them down. Shannon is still struggling with being the ex wife of Bryce, and his new and much younger wife, Krystal, now a part of this group.

How could you not want to read this. Thanks so much to Netgalley and Blackstone Publishing for my advanced audiobook to listen to

Jenny loves her salon but her clients sure are a handful. When her impressive clienttell is a big reason for her success, how can she keep from losing control of her own shop to them? This group of elite women make sure that each day is full of gossip, lies, backstabbing, and rampant egos. Jenny tries not to get involved but happens when others are calling the shots and when people start getting hurt? Think Big Little Lies with a dash of Real Housewives.

I loved listening to the story of the murder of the unknown woman unfolding through the perspective of Jenny and the other women as they recant the events leading up to the crime. For audio listeners this means hearing from multiple narrators, which is always more enjoyable in these kinds of stories. Each narrator was very distinct and added to the BIG personalities of the characters they portrayed. These are the characters you love to hate and would play out fantastically as a movie.

This was my first book by Jeneva Rose and I was very satisfied with it. I will certainly be looking into more by her.

You guys. If you love a good whodunnit, I recommend picking this one up! There are so many questions that needed answers and I was ripping through trying to decode it all. I was right in a way but wrong in others! I’ve never fully guessed an ending to her books and that (among many other reasons) is why I will always pick up anything she writes!

I love a character that you loathe and hope to see the demise of. Olivia fit this bill. She was horrendous in so many ways! Also…the fact that she thought mid 30’s was old had my 37 year old ass wanting to throat punch her. I couldn’t stand her and hoped with my whole heart that karma would find her.

Thank you to @netgalley and @blackstonepublishing for this book and audio in exchange for my honest review! 💙

One of Us Is Dead
By: Jeneva Rose

@jenevaroseauthor you are brilliant and I will forever read everything you write! Three for Three!

I was hooked from the beginning in this hot mess of bitchy women, trying to figure out which one is dead. I could never settle on one for sure, I kept flipping back and forth. So maybe I was right, maybe I wasn't. The book definitely took a few turns I was not expecting! I happened to receive an ARC through @netgalley and then the awesome publishing company @blackstonepublishing
Sent me the audio version as well!

The narrators did an amazing job and I had no trouble remember who was who!

I would normally summarize the book, but no one can do it better than Jeneva's husband Drew. Their videos/reels are hilarious. All you need to know is, if you haven't read anything by this author, you need to start. Immediately!

I enjoyed A Perfect Marriage so I had to pick up One of Us is Dead by @jenevaroaeauthor

A salon owner gets entangled in the drama filled lives of her filthy rich clients in the town of Buckhead. When one of them turns up dead it’s every woman for themselves as the mystery unravels.

Y’all this book is full of gossip, lies, opulence, egos, cattiness and backstabbery (I made that word up). Let me tell you that I am here for it! Multiple POV’s and short chapters make this book hard to put down.

Highly recommend if you love The Real Housewives reality show.

I absolutely adored the first two books from this author, however this one… not so much! I tried so hard to love it but in the end I found it boring, repetitive, and lacking depth. This is coming from someone who usually enjoys books about rich people drama but unfortunately this fell flat for me.

4.5 This was such a fun thriller! I LOVED The Perfect Marriage and The Girl I Was so I knew I was going to love this too. A murder book about rich women, I am here for it!! I loved the short chapters. The twist and the ending were perfect. I hated the characters but in the best kind of way for a thriller. The only reason I’m giving it a 4.5 is because I did find the beginning a tiny bit slow but it picked up and was so worth it. Jeneva Rose and officially become one of my auto-buy authors. I loved this book and will highly recommend this book all year long. The narrator was great in the audiobook!

This book is like watching a trashy soap - lots of drama, horrible villain, women banding together to take down the enemy.
Jenny owns Glow - a classy salon for the wealthy member of Buckhead, very ritzy suburb of Atlanta, GA. With the help of her investor, Olivia, Jenny offers spa pampering as well as beauty salon options such as hair and makeup. With the help of her assistant, Kesha, they keep these well-kept women looking photograph ready.
Crystal has married Bryce, the ex-husband of Shannon - who is now socially tossed aside. Olivia ascends to the position of power on the local committee - digging her nails into everyone's business. Karen is caught in the middle - long time friend and supporter of Shannon but obligated to at least offer friendship to Crystal.
And the drama ensues.
I absolutely enjoyed the audio - the multiple narrators gave each character their voice; very easy to keep track of multiple narrators, placement in storyline. Very well done.
Very enjoyable, nice buildup to the ending - though predictable, still very enjoyable.

This was so fun and insane!! The audio was wonderful and very captivating. I enjoyed every minute of this story

I could not stand the narrators with the audiobook, but luckily I liked the book a lot more when I switched to reading it instead. It was like a cross between Big Little Lies (we find out in the beginning that someone has died - but we don't know who, witnesses are being interviewed by the police, then we go back in time to see what happened) and The Hunting Wives (obnoxious rich women and a lesbian relationship). It was fast paced and I enjoyed it other than - are there really people as despicable as Olivia? She was the worst. The ending was a bit of a letdown for me and seemed far fetched.

This was a case of a book with characters that you love to hate, however Olivia, especially I just plain hated. This book is made to be on the screen. I could totally see this as a killer limited series, see what I did there?!
.
Jenny owns Glow the most expensive
Salon in town where everyone gathers. These women take competitive friendship next level, until one of them is dead.

This book is out now! Thank you @netgalley and @blackstonepublishing for an advanced copy.

This book is fantastic. Filled with rich spoiled women on the surface, underneath you’ll find deep secrets, dangerous intentions, and murderous rage. You won’t be able to put this one down.

Buckhead is a town filled with money and people who know how to flaunt it. Four women spend their money and time getting make overs at Glow, the only place worth getting your makeovers. The story starts at the end…there’s been a murder…but the reader won’t know who until the final pages. Jenny, the owner of Glow is at the police station and is answering questions about what happened.

The story follows the perspectives of four women. Give yourself a minute to get acclimated to each one. Once you do, you’ll know who is speaking in each section. They each have very distinct personalities, and each transition to a new perspective was easy and smooth. These women were fantastically created. There’s:

Jenny: The owner of Glow.
Olivia: The woman who wants to be the new Woman in Charge.
Shannon: A woman knocked off her pedestal after her husband divorced her and remarried…
Crystal: The new wife who can’t quite fit in.

These four women tell their story, and as you get to know them, some of them you’ll find a connection with. You’ll feel for them, your heart will ache for them…and others, you’ll hope they are the dead one at the end.

This book is a perfect read for readers that enjoy a domestic thriller and mystery with multiple POVs. It lives up to the hype, so don’t miss it!
