A huge thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read and review the arc available for Fangirl Vol 2.

I absolutely love manga and the novel Fangirl, so when I heard that they were developing Fangirl into a manga I actually shrieked out loud in excitement. I must say that the manga has reached my expectations and then some. If you fell in love with the novel, as I did, in 2013, you will not be disappointed. The manga follows the plot developed by Rainbow Rowell really well. And *chef's kiss* to the incredible illustrator who took on this novel to transport the content into a manga. They are incredible and the art throughout is beautiful.

This story, if you haven't read the novel, follows twin sisters, Cat and Wren. Cat is incredibly nerdy in the most loveable way, and writes a lot of fanfiction about Simon Snow. Wren is trying to create her identity in college by making new friends without being seen as a twin combo. So, Cat is taken by surprise when she realizes that Wren doesn't want to room with her in college and starts being MIA to her. Cat being an introvert finds it difficult to room with someone she doesn't know and finds it even more challenging when she meets her roommate, Reagan, who is, in my opinion, goth and badass. Cat also meets Reagan's friend, Levi, and this is where the plot really takes a turn for the interesting because Cat starts to come out of her shell more around Levi and Reagan to finally (and unintentionally) make friends.

There are two romantic possibilities for Cat throughout the storyline, Levi and Nick. Levi, Reagan's friend who is kind of like a golden retriever in a human's body (kind, loyal, compassionate, helpful, etc.) Levi is also the person to who she reads her awesome fanfiction throughout the story (think LGBTQIA+ Harry Potter.) Nick who is part of her writing class who she writes stories back and forward with throughout the story for her writing class.

There are tough topics in this manga that Cat is going through that I feel need to be said as a TW. Her dad has depression where he goes through manic phases and this is seen in the manga. They did follow the plot where Wren is trying to meet with their birth mom who left them when they were young, which caused severe trauma for them. This also causes Cat and Wren to have more of a rift in their relationship as well.

I don't want to give spoilers, but I will say that the manga leaves a huge cliffhanger at the end that is somewhat heart-wrenching. So, even though I know what's going to happen, I am still desperately waiting for Vol 3. to come out this October.

I highly recommend this book who loves slice of life, romance type of books that focus in on college life and family dynamics.

I only recently discovered Rainbow Rowell, and became an immediate fan of her work. I loved this graphic novel version of her novel, and hope that there will be more RR graphic novels to come. The Fangirl collection is the starter with perhaps Bas and Simon editions to follow.

I've read the Fangirl novel, but not the first volume in the graphic novel collection, so the story was easy to follow, but not sure if you could start with #2 without the background of the characters.

The artwork was fantastic. I will probably wait until the entire collection comes out to buy a completed edition for myself.

This book is translating so well into a manga! They've illustrated all of the scenes wonderfully and you really get the emotions of the characters. I didn't realize this wasn't going to take us to the end of the story so that's my only complaint. I can't wait for the next one!

Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for providing me with an arc for an honest review!

Love love love!

I adore this book and I can’t wait to experience all of it in a new medium. I love it when books are brought to life in a new way, and the manga/graphic novel was an excellent way of visualising the story. I can’t wait for the next volumes to come out.

Another fantastic installment of the Fangirl Manga! I could go on and on about how much I love Cath and Levi, but I don’t need to. Fangirl is already a “must read” for any college freshman introvert. Now we have this beautiful drawn and adapted version as well! The artwork in wonderfully adapted and really reflects how well the original story was written. The only thing I’m disappointed about is the wait for Volume 3. Which I’m happy to do!

Fangirl is one of my favorite books of all time. I love everything about it, and when it was announced it was being released as a manga?! Best news ever. I someone was lucky enough to be approved for an arc of the second volume, and it did not disappoint! I absolutely adore the way the characters are brought to life in this manga, and how accurate it is to the source material. It’s so cozy and charming, and Cath and Levi are truly one of the cutest couples known to all human kind (I might be a little biased). Now if you haven’t read Fangirl and are reading the manga as it’s released, you might not feel the same way! Especially after the ending of this volume, but trust me on this. I love the inclusion of Simon and Baz as well, since it’s since an integral part of Cath’s story as well. The illustrator does a fantastic job of taking the little things that make Cath, Levi, Wren and Reagan and all the supporting characters who they are and bringing to life.

Thanks to VIZ Media and NetGalley for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review. And honestly, I loved it!

I have been desperately waiting for Vol. 2 and feel so lucky to have been able to read it early. I loved it just as much as Vol. 1 and am looking forward to rest of the installments. I read Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell several years ago so I don't quite remember the plot and this has been such a fun way to revisit an old favorite of mine.

I'm going to be honest, I haven't read the book that this manga is adapted from, so believe me when I say I've been waiting for this volume so impatiently after the cliffhanger that volume 1 left me on!

While there's plenty of drama to kick this one off and wrap up the scene that was started at the end of the previous volume, this one then focuses more on Levi and the relationship between he and Cath.

I wasn't too sure about Levi in the first volume, I was a bit wary of him because of how he was acting and his relationship with Reagan and was just generally concerned he was going to do something shady. However, you really do get to know him better in this volume and it turns out he's actually quite sweet! I think I'm developing a bit of a soft spot for him at this stage. I'm not quite sure but I believe he's got ADHD given a scene from this volume which is some brilliant rep to include!

I'm also starting to ship he and Cath quite badly, but I'm also side-eying the writing partner and trying to figure out who the real love interest is here! Thus far, things are still developing at a slow but steady pace on the romance front, however there's a little something something in this volume that had me squealing a bit!

As for Cath, since volume 1 I've loved her character and really related to her on the fanfiction writing front! She actually explained it perfectly in this volume and I loved the scenes of her reading her fic to Levi because it was so sweet and I could never, honestly. I really feel for her with what she's going through with her sister seemingly wanting nothing to do with her and almost abandoning her, and then everything with her mum. She's going through a lot and I just wanted to give her a massive hug, but the volume has some great funny and sweet moments to offset the sadder ones.

I'm also pleased Cath has Reagan there for her as well. She can be gruff but I think she's just a tsundere because she's had Cath's back more than her own sister at this point and I got the warm and fuzzies from some of their scenes together in this volume and the way some events were handed! (More Reagan please!)

I continue to love the art style, it's really cute and detailed and I love the character's expressions! They're honestly wonderful, and I remember being incredibly wary going into this as the art style for a different book's manga adaptation wasn't the best. I just think it's so brilliantly drawn and adds to the good vibes, fun read aesthetic.

I ALSO love that there's little extracts from Cath's fic and from the book series her fic is based on throughout the volume that's brought to life on the page. I'm actually so invested in the Simon and Baz storylines I've seen as well as Cath and what's going on with her! To the extent that I'm most likely going to have to pick up the Carry On books unless the publisher fancies doing a manga adaption of those too? Pretty please?

This volume is a great continuation of volume 1, I feel the emotions and situations displayed really depict the University/College experience and I'm really loving the characters! So far, I always have fun reading Fangirl volumes, yes there's some emotional moments but it's all got such good vibes and is a good time to read thanks to the art, the humour and the fluffier/sweet moments!

However, once again this series has left me on a cliffhanger with no volume 3 publication date in sight. Like, must we do this? And now I'm having a crisis over my ship and second guessing everything! I could very well end up finally cracking and having to pick up the book to see what happens next!

A girl who grew up in a dysfunctional household and loves fanfiction, goes to college to find herself.

We get to see more into the the mind of Cather and her growing up while navigating through life in college, having a sister that is the complete opposite of her in personality, and dealing with a possible growing attraction. Although I have already read the actual book, the art work is great and I enjoyed it. I wouldn't change anything about it and it feels as though it is following the book exactly.

Overall I have nothing too bad to say about this manga. It feels a little slow, but it was the same way when reading the book, so I quite expected it. The way that Cather and Wren are drawn are on point to what I thought they would look like and the random blurbs about the fanfiction that Cather was working on, helps to break up the story a little bit.

To those that enjoyed the book, they will enjoy seeing the characters come to life in art. I know I did.

I've read this whole book so I know what's going to happen AND YET it still surprises me with every volume that I read of the manga. This was great. I love the manga adaptation of this book and I cannot wait for the next volume. Also, that ending???? Why does it have to be a cliffhanger? :(

Continues to be a great adaptation of the novel. I really like the art style. This volume is pretty thin on plot development, but paves a lot of ground in Cath and Levi's relationship.

TW: verbal sexual harassment, sort-of infidelity

This is the second in a series of graphic novel adaptations of Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. I liked how the artist rendered the characters, and they did a good job of highlighting events in the story. My one quibble is that ends on a type of cliffhanger, and I will have to wait at least a year for the next volume.

This is the perfect continuation of the precious graphic novel rendition of Fangirl. The story is still just as cute as the novel, and the artwork here compliments the story so well. The panels with Carry On snippets are also perfect! Overall, incredibly well done. Can't wait for the next volume!

I loved Fangirl when I read it several years ago. Seeing it brought to life in manga makes it just as charming. I love the dynamics of the characters and their separate voices. I feel for Cath but also understand Rin. Levi will forever be my boyfriend.

Reading the second manga adaptation of Fangirl did not disappoint. It was like having a conversation with an old friend or finding a favorite sweatshirt you thought you’d never see again. The art and pacing are excellent and immersive. I felt myself falling in love with the characters all over again: Cath, Levi, Simon, Baz. I will say that volume two ends on a cliffhanger—I just can’t wait to get my grubby little hands on volume three.

I already love the story of Fangirl, but seeing the characters come to life in art is incredible, it adds a new layer of context to an already familiar story. Cath is as adorably awkward as I always imagined her to be and Levi is perfect. My only complaint is the place where they chose to end the volume.

This sequel to the manga adaptation of Fangirl continues the story with amazing and dynamic illustrations. It started slow, but the second half was fierce and ended on a cliffhanger. I'm excited for the next book now.

I really enjoyed this second volume of Fangirl! It is very similar to the book but the art definitely adds to the story, especially in the Carry On fan fiction scenes. The growing relationship between Cath and Levi is sweet and romantic, in great opposition to her fracturing relationship with her wild sister. Reagan is, of course, amazing. My only gripe is that Levi and Simon drawings are too similar and Simon doesn't match the book description so it's a little disappointing.

Absolutely loved it!! I want to reread Fangirl all over again just to find out what happens! This is one of my all time favourites and of course the manga also does not disappoint!

I’m sad to say that I STILL haven’t read the original Fangirl novel. But I’m living for all of the Simon & Baz stories from within the manga. This definitely does make me want to pick up the book and finally read it tho.

Cath is living the dream of any fanfic author… writing about what you love. It’s just not your original characters that you write about. I haven’t read much fanfic that isn’t published as a retelling, so I don’t have the experience or knowledge about it, besides some popular books that started out that way. So it’s exciting to read about a character who loves writing it.

I really like Levi a lot! He’s so adorable and I want them to work out… in the long run. Her twin on the other hand is kinda horrible and I do not enjoy her!
