I enjoyed this second volume of the Fangirl manga adaptation. It leaves out details from the novel so I'm not sure how much depth the plot has, if you don't have previous knowledge of what's going on. The art is lovely and I love the Simon Snow fanfiction inserts that break up Cath's story. It ends on a cliffhanger, much like the last one, so it feels a bit abrupt. But I'm looking forward to seeing what happens to resolve it in book 3. Thank you for the opportunity to read an e-ARC of this graphic novel!

This adaption continues to be so fun and wonderful to see illustrated. We see more development between Cath and Wren, but this volume continues to focus on the relationship between Levi and Cath. Levi is such a sweet character and seeing Cath's Simon Snow fanfiction drawn out is super special. It's a story within a story. It does have a cliffhanger ending that is a bit brutal but if you read the novel after it wont be such a long wait. I really can't wait to see the next volume illustrated though. I already preordered this volume as well. This is worth collecting.

Special thanks to NetGalley and Viz Media for sharing this ARC with me in exchange for my honest review.

Although a continuation of Book 1 and the previous novel, there seems to be an inconsistency when it comes to the narrative. It is an enjoyable read, but it seems that the stereotypes are still quite coarse and rough. There is a lot of fanfiction terms and grammar, which a person who is not accustomed may not understand.

I've read Fangirl more times than I can count and yet I'm still getting the first time reading butterflies with this graphic novel series. They stayed so true to Rowells text and yet the visuals add so much depth and wonderfulness to the story. I love seeing Levi and Caths connections in the art. Literal perfection. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an e-arc in exchange for an honest review

I had to read this almost as soon as I got approved, I loved volume 1 that much!
However, I did struggle a bit with this one. I felt like there were too many Simon & Baz cut scenes and they were too long. I just don't care about them that much. >.<
However, the romance is starting and this volume ends on a major cliffhanger. I'm about to scream for real.
Cannot wait for volume 3.

I loved the chapter book by Rainbow Rowell and this manga is a great interpretation of that story. The characters feel full and alive the manga format allows readers to see their emotions and understand the details in the writing. I am devastated that I can't read more! I need the 3rd and 4th volumes now!

Thank you to NetGalley for an advanced readers copy!

This was a very good continuance of the story!

I think where this adaptation really shines in where they choose to end the volumes so as to give the most amount of tension and incentive to continue reading. The first volume ends with an SOS text, and this ends with an emotionally devastating moment for Cath.

I mentioned this about Volume 1, but I feel like they really continued with it (so it is worth mentioning again), but the graphic novel really shows in an explicit way how judgemental and self-centred Cath can be in a way the books kind of gloss over. Cath does not want Wren to meet her mother because of her own feelings about the subject. Regardless of the readers and Cather's opinon on Wren's spiralling while at college, it is ultimately Wren's decision and Cather's judgement of it unwelcome. Cather is judgemental of Levi not being a "reader." Her professor just does not "get" fan fiction or fandom. Nothing is every Cather's fault.
The manga shows how co-dependant Cather is in a really interesting way.

I imagine that this will be a 4 volume series, with the third volume more heavily focusing on the distance between Wren and Cather (I can already imagine that the last cover will be Cather and Levi together).

Really love this series! Can't wait for the next installment!

hanks to Net Galley for the ARC of this book that, once again, I didn’t know I needed but now that I have, I an so glad exists. I keep having a hard time squaring that this person, Cath, wrote the Carry On series. The third one was so far afield from where the fan fiction begins here. It is nice to be back in Cath’s world. The art is so good. The pacing is spot on. This is just what we need.

Fangirl is one of my all time favorite books so I was super excited when it was announced that they would make it into a manga! I have the first volume and you can bet money that I will buy the second volume as soon as it comes out in stores.

The plot is the same as the books, so there isn't much of a difference there but the art and the characters are so beautifully done that its almost as if I haven't read it a million times before. Also, the person in charge of splitting each volume up does a frustratingly wonderful job with cliffhangers. Each volume lands on a dramatic situation that leaves you wanting more even as you know what happens next. Especially this volume! I was so excited to get into the drama of Cath and Levi's relationship! But was disappointed and impressed with where they left it. I will now be thinking about this volume for months as I wait for volume three to be released.

Thank you to Netgalley and VIZ for an advance copy of Fangirl Vol. 2!

It's hard to believe that it's been nearly a decade since I first read the original Fangirl novel, and revisiting it in the new manga format has been lovely! As with the previous installment, the manga is accessible for anyone to pick up, regardless of having read the novel first. Fantastic adaptation, TERRIBLE cliffhanger, but I expect nothing less. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series!

This sequel (based on Rainbow Rowell's YA book) was a fun and fast read that continues the story of Cath as she navigates her new world as a college freshman and separated from her twin sister Wren. I frequently wanted to hug Cath and yell at Wren, which I remember also being true as I read the original book years ago. The characters are real and endearing and this was a sweet follow-up to Vol. 1. I look forward to the next 2 volumes (in the near future hopefully)!

Fangirl is one of my favorite YA books by far, and I'm so so so happy that it's being adapted into a manga! The artwork is adorable, and I'm so happy to be able to read one of my favorite books in a new medium. I binged this in less than 2 hours, and it gave me so many happy, cozy vibes. Seeing some of my favorite characters brought to life in a manga brings me so much joy. I can't wait for volumes 3 and 4!!! 5/5 stars

I adored this second installment of Fangirl's Manga adaption!! It had some of my favourite parts from the book in it. I love when Cath starts reading Levi her fanfiction, and how invested he gets in it. Also, love seeing more of the family dynamic between Cath, Wren, and their dad. Cath reading The Outsiders to Levi, and them cuddling and having their first kiss!! I getting to see that scene in manga format. I think leaving it on the cliffhanger with Levi kissing another girl at his party was a great spot to leave Vol. 2. I can't wait for the next volume!! Fangirl is still one of my favourite YA books, so getting to revisit it in this format has been such a treat!

I have read the book after reading the first volume in this series and I think the manga holds up to the original story really well! I still think the artwork in this is fantastic and the story has me hooked despite already knowing what's going to happen.

A lot of smaller details of the original story are left out in the manga. This makes the whole of the story seem a bit thin. We still don't know too much about Cath's father and about her roommate. I doubt there will be more details about them in further volumes. Despite this, the manga's story held up well and I look forward to reading the next one!

There is something terrifying and thrilling about watching a book you love be adapted into another medium. In this case, it is thrilling and satisfying! I adore the adaptation thus far and can't wait to see what comes next!

Yet another cliffhanger! I really love the art style for this manga, and feel that it’s doing a great job adapting the Fangirl book. I can’t wait for the next volume!! Have to see how Cath reacts to him now.

The type of book that will make you scream into your pillow…literally.

Cath is still awkward, but we love her to death. She’s also young, inexperienced, and has gone through trauma. I love that I got this backstory with her and Wren. It really explains a lot about why Cath retreats within herself, and why Wren acts out.

Speaking of Wren, let’s talk about it for a second. It’s really interesting about the dynamic that people have placed her and Cath into. Wren wants independence from the whole “twin thing,” because other people will always associate her with Cath. This book dove into the “two-for-one” deal that always came with the sisters, so it’s easy to understand where Wren is coming from. However, in my opinion, she can always take a different approach to dealing with it in a healthier way. This doesn’t include cutting off Cath cold-turkey.

Buuuuut, it’s also understandable because of what the girls went through with their mom leaving them. People deal with trauma in different ways. For Cath, she’s an extreme introvert who escapes her own reality through writing fanfiction. For Wren, she’s an extreme extrovert who escapes her reality through questionable situations and irresponsible decisions. But, where can we draw the line between irresponsible and overly worrisome?

An EXCELLENT cliffhanger (this is where the screaming into a pillow commenced), and also an interesting dynamic between Reagan and Cath. Where readers think of Reagan as cool, calm, and cold, we see the ice start to melt a bit when it comes to Levi. I also predict we’ll see a volcanic eruption underneath this façade in Vol. 3 considering the predicament Levi has placed himself in😅it isn’t looking good for Levi.

All-in-all, it’s a 5 star book/manga. The illustrations are off the charts, and it’s completely swoon worthy with a hint of the reader screeching in the last 10 minutes of the manga :)

An interesting continuation of the fan girl story. I have already read the book that the graphic novel is based on. So I already knew the story. I liked how they are telling the story and how they are breaking between volumes. I love the art style.

So so SO good!!! I love the character development that was perfectly broken down and explored throughout this manga. Cath is a character I can whole heartedly relate to, especially with her love of writing, reading, and fangirling. ***spoiler ahead*** I'm really interested in seeing how Cath and Levi's relationship will turn out by the next manga release!
