Another classic from the pen of a master, Cold, Cold Bones continues the Temperence Brennan series right where the last ended. Bringing back memories from old cases this book takes the readers back to previous books, forcing memories of these cases.

An emotional rollercoaster with concern for Tempe and her daughter, Katie. This book takes you through multiple of Tempe's cases, and Katie trying to adjust to civilian life. The concept of a copycat mimicking Tempe's previous cases makes this book unique in the series. The culprit was easy for me to guess. I felt that it was glaringly obvious, but it did not take away from the book or following the adventure of Tempe figuring out who it was.

Overall, this book was enjoyable and a great continuation of the Temperance Brenna series.

I want to thank Netgalley, and Scribner for an ARC of this book.

Cold, Cold Bones by Kathy Reichs is the 21st entry in her impressive Temperance Brennan suspense series.
Tempe is back in fine form, faced with a series of gruesome murders that mimic some of her old cases. In addition to the pressure to solve these killings with her cool, thoughtful but intense scientific investigation, she has the emotional angst of worrying about her daughter Katie, recently of the military, who seems to have PTSD and difficulty adjusting to civilian life.
Tempe is a terrific strong female scientist and investigator whose adventures may sometimes be far-fetched, but whose character is solid and resilient. Her reliably sardonic investigator friend Skinny Slidell, now a PI, is an entertaining recurring character who aids Tempe’s efforts, and her longtime beau Andrew Ryan shows up to assist Tempe and Skinny find the perpetrator of the crimes.
I’ve read all 21 of the Brennan series and am unabashedly a huge fan of the unique blend of science, forensic crime solving, family drama, and colorful locales that factor into each novel.
Highly recommend!!

Thank you to Scribner and NetGalley for the ARC. This is my honest review.

Another good one in the Temperance Brennan series. Tempe, a forensic anthropologist receives an eyeball which starts the ball rolling in what she thinks is a copycat killer. Her daughter, Katy, is also having a hard time with PTSD and then is missing. Is she simp,y just getting away to work on herself or does the copycat killer have plans for her? Tempe has her hands full but gets help from Ryan. Quick read!

Another solid entry into the Bones series. What can I say? I just love these books. They're almost like comfort reads, easy to jump in and out of the series and pick back up right where you left off, and this one was no exception. I appreciate, during these times, having solid, "known entity" authors to fall back on and Kathy Reichs is one of those for me.

As you read Reichs books, you find characters return time and time again, which was one of my favorite parts of this book! Reichs gives you an update on their lives and then integrates them into the current story. If you have read her books you get to know these characters and are excited to see them every time! This is one of the reason I always reach for Reichs’ new books!

A new book by Kathy Reich's is always cause for celebration in the mystery world. This is not one of her best and she relies on too many tropes, Katy suddenly drops off the grid: is she abducted or PTSD AWOL? Tempe is stranded by a storm. Ryan is out of the country with bad cell service. These are annoying distractions to a solid story of revenge that takes the dedicated Tempe fans back to to the past, and a reason to reread those books we fell in love wirh.

Long-time fan of Temperance Brennan, and this one doesn't disappoint. Old friends reappear, the mystery is engaging and the resolution is satisfying. Highly recommend.

The 21st book in Temperance Brennan, Cold, Cold Bones is a good suspenseful read. This story is set in North Carolina where Dr. Brennan resides when in the US. The suspense is enjoyable and characters what we have come to love about this series. I enjoyed this read and will continue to promote and read this series.

Reichs is one of my favorite writers. Reading a new Tempe Brennan is like meeting up with an old friend. I like mysteries with twists and this one had them in spades.

I have read most of the novels featuring Temperance Brennan and have enjoyed them. It's been a while since I have read one, however, and I did not feel this one was up to the usual fine presentation. I was a bit surprised at how much of the text was rehashing events or Temperance thinking about the many possibilities of the meaning of past events or options of future events. Temperance seemed to be “off” in this novel. At one point she wondered why she hadn't had an epiphany earlier. I wondered too. And she kept going off and doing stupid things on her own, especially when Slidell told her to stay put.

Slidell was way too disgustingly mouthy and I did not like his character at all. The reveal close to the end had previously unknown information identifying the villain. Nonetheless, the villain was pretty easy to identify early on. And Ryan is pretty much a no show. I missed him.

I have liked this series and although I do not think this novel is any where near Reich's best, I will look for the next one.

I received a complimentary egalley of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.

Cold, Cold Bones is the twenty-first novel in the Temperance Brennan Series. I don't remember reading any of the previous books in the series, so this could easily be read as a standalone novel. Dr. Brennan is a forensic anthropologist and therefore she works with the police and medical examiners to determine how someone has died, especially if someone has been dead for a long time. In Cold, Cold Bones someone is replicating her old cases obviously trying to get her attention. Things start to escalate when Dr. Brennan doesn't seem to catch on to exactly what this perpetrator is trying to say. I really enjoyed this book. After reading it I would definitely be interested in reading the previous books in the series. If you like crime fiction and a good series this is one series to start.

i always enjoy a Temperance Brennan novel by Kathy Reichs. This one was very good intertwining past cases w/a new case. New characters like “Skinny” the retired police officer add a little extra to the plot. I was engrossed through the entire book, and did not see the twist that tied it all up. Definitely a must read.

Another great Dr. Reichs book! Temperance Brennan is involved in several confusing crimes, that leave her trying to figure out the connections to some older crimes. She and Skinny are often at odds, as usual, but their relationship is definitely realistic! Temps daughter is back from deployment, causing another confusing element in her life. A wonderful writer with amazing characters. An interesting, outstanding novel to enjoy!

I am a long-time reader of Kathy Reichs's books, so I was excited to be approved for this title. The story had several interesting components, including the return of Tempe's daughter from Afghanistan and a killer who seems to be mocking her by replicating old cases. I thought the premise of looking back at former cases was interesting, but I have to admit I didn't love this book as much as some others in the series. I think I felt there was a lack of some of the characters we've come to love? Still a solid read for those who have read the other books.

I always look forward to Kathy Reichs' - Temperance Brennan series - and I thoroughly enjoyed Cold, Cold Bones. It's a great "old fashion" mystery with a lot of twists and turns and an unexpected ending! Thanks for the advanced copy!

Great fun and mystery with Kathy Reichs. I really liked the book but I was uncomfortable with how long it took to get searching for her daughter. But a great story none the less.

Cold, Cold Bones is book 21 in the Temperance Brennan series. I’m one of those that started with the books and then binge watched the show Bones. There’s something comforting in knowing that the moment you start reading a Kathy Reichs book that it’s going to be good.

The book has wonderful characters, I love the descriptive nature of the writing and then, the twists and turns that occur that have you guessing one character then another. I will admit i did figure the story out fairly early, but I still thoroughly enjoyed the story.

Thank you to #netgalley and #scribner for allowing me to read the eARC of this book. All opinions expressed above are my own.

Little did I know that this book is the 21st in a series and the series is what the show Bones is based on. The storyline was great and the characters were interesting. Personally, I wasn't into reading about autopsies and other detailed info about how people were murdered. If you like the show or have read some of the previous books in the series, this one is definitely worth reading. You do not need to have read previous titles to read this one.

Cold, Cold Bones is the 21st book in the Temperance Brennan, series and I am so glad I was able to read it. I will be honest, I haven’t read any of the other books in the series and for me that was ok, Kathy Reichs, does an excellent job of telling the story that I didn’t really feel I missed anything. It’s winter in NC and Temperance is hoping for a break in her hectic workload. She is a forensic anthropologist and hasn’t had a break in cases in so long. She is tired and is excited to spend time with her daughter who has come home from the Army. Tempe and Katy don’t skip a beat from the last time they have seen each other. Really the only thing that is different, is that Katy is quiet, reserved. But that is normal right? For someone who has just come back from the military. Well Tempe doesn’t get her wish and a new case presents itself in very interesting clues, clues that come to close to home. Tempe is going to have to figure this case out and quick because much is at stake. I really liked this story. It was a great mystery and it had me guessing, the whole time. This was a four star read for me. A quick read, with a good story line can’t be beat. I want to thank Netgalley & the author for my copy, for an honest review. It was my pleasure to read & review this one. I hope you enjoy it as well!!!
