Thank you Simon & Schuster Canada and NetGalley for this ARC in return for an honest review.

This book was really good. The suspense was there. Kathy Reichs keeps me on the edge of my bed with this book. The author knows how to keep surprising us. What will the murderer do after? There is medicine, and there is anthropological terminology, but it is written in such a way that we can understand it. During the investigation, we learn about what happens to certain veterans returning from the war. I like those parts, and it's a subject that needs to be heard.

The review will be posted on Goodreads on June 16th and on Instagram, on the day of the release.

I enjoyed this book. It had some really great twists and turns. Although the perp might have been really obvious, some of those twists helped obscure the truth. I'd written down in my reading journal "could it actually be... (no I'm not saying), or (again, not telling you)?"

Turns out I was right on one of those.

There was one angle that from my own perspective could have been chased a bit further, a seeming connection to Katy, not Tempe that could have obscured the truth even more. Made who they were fixated on seem more valid. It might have made the actual reason for the killings even harder to suss out, but I can almost see why the author didn't do that (something that becomes apparent at the end).

I appreciated that there were fewer questions from Tempe as she tried to figure out what could be going on. That really helped keep my interest as I've found those a bit much in previous books.

Overall, a nice quick and enjoyable read.

When a box containing a human eyeball is left on Temperance Brennan’s porch, she is quickly thrust into a series of crimes that copy some of her most infamous cases. When her daughter , Kathy goes missing, Brennan must risk everything to solve the case even if it means putting herself in the direct path of danger.

Cold Cold Bones is the 21st entry in the Temperance Brennan series by forensics anthropologist Kathy Reichs and it’s just as compelling, as intelligent, as unputdownable as the rest of the series. It’s the kind of book that keeps the reader glued to the page so I recommend startng it when you have plenty of time or find yourself reading into the wee small hours unable to sleep until you know what happens next.

I’d like to thank Netgalley and Simon and Schuster Canada for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

I had never read any of Kathy Reichs' work before getting an ARC of #ColdColdBones from #NetGalley, but this seemed a good one to read as it references many previous cases investigated by the main character Temperance Brennan.
I was aware of the series, and of the fact that it is very popular. I found the book stands well on its own, being both suspenseful and gripping, with true-to-life characters and a fast-paced and puzzling mystery. The character of Detective Slidell, who continually insisted on technical jargon being translated into common words, was more than helpful when the book sidestepped into technobabble.
I did not, however, enjoy Reichs' style of writing. I found it disjointed, jumpy, and distracting. To demonstrate I offer these words in kind. Too many incomplete sentences. Short sentences resembling jumbled thoughts. Brief outbursts. Emotions. Many more incomplete sentences.
This is the only book I've seen with this style of writing, and I did not enjoy it. Luckily the intensity of the storyline kept reeling me in.

Someone is watching her closely... maybe a bit too closely. An eyeball shows up on Tempe Brennan's doorstep and it contains a secret etched onto the orb.

Kathy Reich has done it again. This time Temperance Brennan is rushing to solve a mystery and one that hits just a bit too close to home!

Another serial killer has hit the Carolinas and their calling card is copying Tempe's earlier cases. To make matters worse, Temperance's daughter Katy has gone missing and no one knows where or who to turn to next.

You will join the rush in reading as Temperance rushes to find her daughter, and catch a cold-hearted killer before both are lost forever.

I couldn't put this book down - I just had to know what was going to happen next and where Tempe would end up. There was a lot of action, and some injuries along the way, and that just ratcheted up the tension even higher!

Thank you to publisher Simon and Shuster, and NetGalley for an advance copy to review. My review is independent, represents my opinion solely, and is not biased toward the publisher or author.

Fast-paced and intense, Cold, Cold Bones grabbed me from the first page and didn’t let go. The snappy dialogue and realistic details worked together to create a story that is so much more than the mystery embedded in it. Unpredictable and creepy - it’s absolutely fantastic.

First, thank you to NetGalley and Simon & Schuster for my advance digital copy of Cold Cold Bones.
I have been reading Kathy Reich’s books since Deja Dead,, her first Tempe book, arrived on bookstore shelves in 1997. And now, 21 books later, I’m still hooked …..never disappointed.
Cold Cold Bones , Reich’s latest suspense novel, brings Tempe’s daughter and old cases to the forefront. A package containing an eyeball appears on her doorstep and Tempe has no idea where it came from and why. But more mysterious happenings occur leading Tempe to believe these are copycats of cases from her case history files. It looks like somebody is out to get her but who? And why?
Katy, Tempe’s daughter, has been distraught since leaving the army and PTSD can’t be the only reason. Tempe does her best to get to the bottom of what’s going on with her daughter, gets closer to her and then suddenly she disappears! Are the cases and Katy’s disappearance connected? It doesn’t seem plausible but Brennan is determined, with the help of Skinny Slidell and her beau, Ryan to find out.
Another great read from Kathy Reichs!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher por allowing me to read this book. This was my first book from Kathy Reichs and I have to say that even when the writing was well done I couldn’t get involved in the story. Maybe because this is book #21 of this series? But overall is a good book just not for me. The suspense is there which is something I appreciate a lot in a good thriller!

This book was an absolute pleasure to read. Anything by Kathy Reichs is actually. I highly recommend this book.

I enjoy Kathy Reichs books particularly the character of Temperance Brennan. This book was entertaining and what I anticipated it was going to be - a fast moving and gripping read. While overall it delivered, it wasn't anything unexpected or different from her usual books and I have to confess I figured out too early on. It's nice to receive what you expect sometimes and with a Temperance Brennan book, Kathy Reichs always provides a solid read.

This is the 21st Temperance Brennan book by Kathy Reichs. Story begins when Temperance finds a human eye on the back porch of her house. She will then be involved in solving other crimes that don't seem related, until a pattern between the crimes apparently leads back to Temperance...
This is a really effective suspense that's enhanced by the cliffhanger chapter endings.
You absolutely can read this without having read the previous books. There is enough context given for new comers to this series, and at the same time not so much background that it would be repetitive for long time readers..

Well written, full of suspense with believable characters. The story had a good plot and it held my interest to the end. I highly recommend the read to all who enjoy a good mystery.

Kathy Reichs never disappoints.

Bringing Brennan and Skinny back through some of Brennan's most memorable cases was such a thrilling ride! I don't know about everyone, but I love their partnership more and more with every book. And add in preppers, to boot! I had some sneaking suspicions of the true "culpable" (en Francais, bien sur!), but I wasn't sure until the very end.

As someone who has grown up with these novels, I also love when Katy makes an appearance. Maybe selfishly, I hope this series never ends.

From a technical perspective, these books are always well written. As the author is an anthropologist herself, you know the science is good! But it's also consumable (thank you, Slidell).

Edge of your seat excitement! . Action packed! Amazing characters ! As always Kathy Reichs has written a novel that keeps you enthralled from page one to the last page. Temperance Brennan is always thinking one step ahead and as she thinks outside of the box you are never bored with the stories about her. Murder mystery at its best. You won’t be disappointed.

Thank you to the publisher via NetGalley for the opportunity to read this amazing book.

This book was gripping from the start! I’ve never read any of this authors work before, but this twisting medical mystery will definitely have me
Coming back to this author! The writing style was easy to read for me, and I enjoyed the memorable characters!

The story was a gripping one that kept me reading until I finished. The 21st in the Temperance Brennan series Cold, Cold Bones is a must read for fans of the series. I admit that the past cases merging with present cases kept my mind spinning and struggling to keep everything straight. I suspected the killer long before they were revealed with my mind screaming "look at them", but perhaps I've read and watched too many Bones. Fast paced with familiar characters this one is a fantastic read.

Another great story from Kathy Reichs. Tempe is enjoying some downtime from her work and spending time with her daughter until a package contains an eyeball is delivered. Things go downhill from there and Tempe suddenly finds herself dealing with multiple deaths and wondering why she is being targeted.

The story is fast paced and suspenseful and features many favourite characters, Ryan and Slidell, in particular, each with their own quirks. I will say there is a lot of use of foul language in this book, which perhaps isn’t necessary.

Thanks to NetGalley and Simon and Schuster Canada for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I’m an avid reader of anything by Kathy Reichs. Cold, cold bones is fast paced and highly entertaining. Temperance continues to be smart, witty and full of surprises. A good mix of medical mystery and cold hard intrigue keeps you invested in the action and the characters are likeable to the point you can’t help but root for them. Another hit.

Thank you NetGalley for this arc

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the (rare) opportunity to read and review "Cold, Cold Bones", the newest entry in the Temperance Brennan series. I have been reading since the very first one, and continue to enjoy the continuing saga of our favourite forensic anthropologist.
This one stars off with an eyeball in a box and ends with a harrowing fight for life. In between, we're treated to vintage Temperance Brennan as she maneuvers through a number of different cases that seem strangely familiar, while simultaneously dealing with her daughter Katy, newly out of the service and her sometime partner 'Skinny' Slidell (whose character has not changed one iota in all the time we've known him); and of course, there's her the love of her life - Ryan - who pops up a number of times.
This time out, Temperance is called in on a number of odd cases and for a while they seem to be random - until she begins to make connections to other cases over the years - with almost devastating consequences. And, Ms. Reichs has managed to create an antagonist who we never really saw coming until the very end. (There are hints throughout the book, but they're subtle and sly.)
The writing this time seems to me a trifle lighter than the past few books - there's much less angst in the character's life and it's reflected in how Ms. Reichs writes her and everyone around her. This might be just my opinion, but I found myself thinking that over and over in the course of the read.
All in all, I believe that this is one of the best of a great series. It can be read as a standalone, but really the whole series is worth the time (although at 21, you might be hard pressed to catch up).
