Thank you to Net Galley and Sunbury Press for allowing me to read an ebook of this historical novel.
The story chronicles the lives of the four Rebarchack children during the first quarter of the 20th century. They grow up in a coal-mining town in Pennsylvania, an ordinary American family struggling to make a living, experiencing love, marriage, war, and loss.
The characters are well-drawn and realistic. The pace is brisk, showing the effects on the siblings of World War I, the battle for women's suffrage, and the Spanish flu pandemic. The story alternates between close-third-person narrative from multiple points of view and letters among the siblings and their spouses.
The notes at the end of the book indicate that the author based the characters on members of her own family, Her extensive research lends authenticity.
Recommended for anyone who enjoys historical fiction and family sagas.

I enjoyed this book so much that I plan to go back to try to read her others. Unfortunately, my local library does not carry her books . Wonderful descriptive novel similar to other past British female writers that involve a heroine and the mysteries that she encounters. Set in the beautiful Cornwall area, I didn't want this book to end. Bravo to the author and I am hoping that she keeps writing books like this.

So sorry, this review was meant for another book, I have yet to read this book.

Although this book is historical fiction, the reader wonders when the fiction begins...where the history ends...it is written by a talented and gifted author who has done much research. I read some of my books sent to me by Netgally for review electronically on my Netgalley app...they eventually disappear...I read others on my Kindle to keep a little longer...this is a keeper...Family and friendship...children...war...history...themes running throughout this book...
