This is one binge worthy read that will really make you appreciate your husband. Such an intruging premise to this book and was well paced even though the reveal wasn't shocking.

** spoiler alert ** This book was great! I loved that Alicia eventually went all bad-ass and found her "dead" husband and took care of business when the cops would not listen to her. My favorite part of the book was her happy ending w/the Alaskan cop! Can't wait for more books by this author!

This was a really fast read. Good storyline that kept me 'flipping the page' so to speak. The narrator made this story even better. This book did seem 'lighter' than the typical stories I read about serial killers. I was also able to easily guess the ending. I liked the pace of the book for the most part. But it kind of seems like the author had a deadline to meet so had to hurry up and just finish the book out. It's a little bit unrealistic. Which lowered my rating. But overall, a good read and I would recommend to others.

A twisty, suspenseful read.

While I did enjoy this book, it didn't quite hit me the right way at some places. It's hard to give reasons as to why without fully spoiling things so I won't do that here, but there were parts of the plot that read a little untrue to me or a little more cruel than I would have liked.

I did enjoy how the author wove in a romance despite the situation and would think that fans of romantic suspense (lighter on the romance) would enjoy this!

My rating: 3.3*

The Final Hunt was very suspenseful with a twist every time you turned the page. You truly get to know the characters and their stories are told in vivid detail. We follow along with the protagonist, Cameron, as she uses her wits and strength, to prove that she is a survivor. Cameron is grieving the recent death of her husband John who was killed during a hunting trip. However, Cameron quickly grows to realize that her husband had a dark and hidden path. The story follows Cameron as she endeavors to discover the truth about her husband. At times you believe that you know where this story is going, only to be shocked by the outcome resulting in an intense journey from start to finish.

Started out with a bang but ended up fizzling. I buddy read this in a GR group and we were all captivated by the first half of this book! It was fast-paced and propulsive! Cameron discovers her dead husband was a serial killer and now she's suspected of being complicit! What?! But once Cameron heads to Alaska in search of answers, it kind of gets lost. Improbable, unbelievable things start happening (not in the supernatural sense, just in the realistic sense) and I started to lose interest. It just got so ridiculous and far-fetched. If you can realllllly suspend your belief on this, on the capabilities of the woman, then you may very well love it. It started out SO GOOD!!! And the narrator was great.

The Final Hunt AUDIO by Audrey J Cole is the story of the wife of a serial killer. Cameron’s husband, John, had been mauled and killed by a bear. It had been heard by his best friend and partner, Simon, who had been hunting with him, but no actual remains were ever found, just blood. She had continued to go to her office every day and continue her dental practice and go to John’s cabin on the weekends. It made her feel closer to him. While there she discovered an SD card-John was a prolific photographer-and she was anxious to see new photos of the two of them. Instead she found horrific proof that John had a naked dead woman in their bed and in the reflection she saw a naked John. She couldn’t believe it, but as she kept looking she was forced to. She went immediately to the police where she met Detective Tanner Mulholland, who disclosed that this was the final piece of evidence; that he had been looking at John for months as the notorious “Teacher Killer” who had killed at least eleven women. She was stunned. Not as stunned as she would be when the media got ahold of it and they started arriving at her door. Things went from bad to worse as she explored her finances only to discover that John had a huge second mortgage on their house and that she was now underwater and that he had cashed in his life insurance months earlier. It got worse yet.

Cameron was quick-witted and clever and when pushed to it could take care of herself. She was a well-written character, one of the most complete in the story. It was a convoluted plot and Cameron was far from innocent, although had not committed the crime of which she was accused. She was attentive to detail and strove to be a good person. It was an engrossing crime novel, although I thought the ending was rushed after the care taken with rest of the novel.

The story was narrated by Stacey Glemboski who did a credible job as she voiced all the characters. She kept a serious tone and was sympathetic to Cameron and her situation. It was a credible performance.

There were some super great things about this book and then some bummers. I figured out the twist right at the beginning so that was the big bummer. I also felt like the love story was thrown in there haphazardly as an afterthought. I did however love the serial killer aspect because I’m always fascinated by them.

The Final Hunt</em> is this first title I have read from Audrey J. Cole and will not be my last. The story is somewhat predictable but is fast paced and enjoyable. Ms. Cole writes the character Cameron with believable reactions to the series of events the main character faces. The ending is a little surprising but ties up all of the loose ends. The narrator Stacy Glemboski does a great job with the voices and engaging the listener with her reading. I will be going back and listening to some of Ms. Cole's previous titles.

I received an ARC eaudiobook from NetGalley and Orange Sky audio in exchange for an honest review.

Summary: After John disappeared while hunting - presumed dead from a bear attack - Cameron found the crime photos. His role in the recent Seattle serial murders was discovered. The media destroyed her reputation. She lost her dental practice, is on the brink of losing her home.

Everyone has a secret. But if her husband could hide the unimaginable from her, who’s to say he’s truly dead?

Review: The narration of this book was fantastic. Overall, I thought the book was predictable, even so, if you are looking for a quick thriller to read, I would recommend.

Soon after losing her husband in a freak bear attack, Cameron while grieving is informed that her husband is none other than the terrible serial killer, "The Teacher Killer." The police have evidence showing that he has killed several female teachers, and they were almost at the point of arresting him when he died. There's plenty of proof and Cameron can't deny that she was married to a murderer. Her town turns against her, and then the police start to suspect that she was her husband's accomplice.

I was initially absolutely hooked to this story, but it really takes a dive in quality about half way through. I guessed from the beginning what ultimately would happen, and I was right. I did enjoy the setting of this book - the wilderness, the animals. But I felt like you have to suspend a lot of disbelief to enjoy this story.

Overall, it was alright but not a favorite. Thank you netgalley and orange sky audio for giving me an advanced review copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

To start with, I really like stories that take place at least in part in Alaska. There is something about the vast wilderness that drives me in.

This story had all the makings of a great Alaskan thriller and it did not disappoint. The story takes place in part in Seattle, but from my perspective the more exciting parts are in the Alaskan wilderness.

We begin with the death of a husband. During the story our main character learns a lot about her husband.. she looks for land her first husband may have owned in Alaska and she meets a new guy. She is a very believable character who just wants to live her life. There are many circumstances around her that seem to be preventing her from doing that. By the end of the story we learn she is pretty good instincts and she's a great planner.

I found I truly dislike the characters I believe I was supposed to dislike and really like the characters that were good. I was on the edge of my seat several times. There was sort of a surprise ending that warmed my heart. The only thing I didn't like so much was the very very ending. I'm not sure. The last character mentioned should be the one to potentially carry on to another story.

Enjoyable story line as we follow Cameron as she discovers not only her husband's death by bear attack, but also seems to lose everything as it is found that her dearly beloved husband was a serial killer.

Cameron is not sure that hubbie, John, has bitten the dust since his body was never found. This sets Cameron on a search in an off the grid town in Alaska where John had a cabin. The usual predicaments happen, but the story does keep the reader going and wondering is Cameron will come out the winner when life seems to have dealt her the losing cars.

Thank you to Audrey J. Cole, Rainer Publishing, and NetGalley for a copy of this story.

Imagine being married to a serial killer for ten years and only discovering it after he dies. I was lucky enough to have both an early print copy and the audio version of The Final Hunt, and I flipped back and forth between the two. The audio is perfectly narrated and manages to take what is already a suspenseful book and take it up a notch. I was absolutely riveted! Thanks so much for the opportunity to review!

Some books are like a trainwreck. You just cannot stop looking at them. This book was one of them.

<b>The Story:</b>
Cameron's husband, John, is killed in a bear attack in a remote Alaskan forest. While Cameron is grieving his death, she comes upon a set of pictures that show him as a serial killer. She later finds out the police had been on his tail and even given him a name - the Teacher Killer (on a side note, WHY do serial killers have cool names?)

Soon after this discovery, Cameron loses her patients at the dental practice and all her neighbours start to ghost her too. She is left all alone.

But after certain circumstances, she is convinced that her husband is not dead, after all. But how do you prove someone is alive when all the evidence points towards his death?

<b>The Positives:</b>

1. Cameron - Again, a badass heroine and I lapped it up as usual.

2. The writing - The writing was breezy and I flew through the audiobook in a record 2 days (8+ hr audio). Though I guessed the villain beforehand, I didn't want to stop listening till the end.

3. The narrator - The narrator, Stacy Glemboski, was fabulous with all the voices.

4. The secondary characters - Dane and Simon had important parts and they did a great job in supporting Cameron.

5. The setting - The Alaskan winter gave me shivers (and it's summer here in India)

<b>The Negatives:</b>

1. Too many coincidences - I can't say much here without spoilers but there are too many coincidences happening in the book which I couldn't digest.

If you are looking for a quick read between heavier books, go for this one. I will certainly look forward to reading more from this author.

4 stars.

Thanks to Netgalley and OrangeSky Audio for the ARC.

Such a fast read! It started with a bang and didn’t let up!

I would have liked more depth on the husband and the murders and that aspect of it. I think it also would have helped me understand the wife’s hatred for him more.

It was still a compelling read and i enjoyed the tiny bit of romance in this.

I spotted the twist before the reveal and had suspected it early on so i wasn’t surprised. But i still enjoyed this one. I enjoyed the journey

Wow this book was amazing. This is such a magnificent roller coaster ride, I just couldn't put this book down. It was by far the best thriller audiobook I have listened to this year. I loved every single second of it and had to binge read it in one day I just had to stay up late to finish it. The story-line and characters were just fantastic and I love the fact part of this book was set in Alaska. As there is always a mystery and excitement there. It is the first book I have read by this author and I am certainly going to read the rest.

I listened to the audiobook and loved the narrator she really brought out the atmosphere and tension in this book. That is the most important point for me as a reviewer you have to feel the book and this one sure does pack a punch. I was at the edge of my seat throughout this book. You will not be able to put this book down, I certainly couldn't. I really can't recommend this book enough to all those thriller fans who love fast paced books and fly by the seat of their pants. It's packed full of twists and turns and the ending was just shocking.

Only the highest of praise goes out to the author and publishing team for creating such a magnificent story packed with thrilling tension and mystery.

a quick and entertaining read. I liked the characters and fast moving plot. Fun location, and easy to get engaged in mystery. Was kind of predictable, but did not make this less entertaining road to get to the end. Narrator was great.

Thank you to @netgalley, @tlcbooktours and @audreyjcole and @orangeskyaudio for gifting me a audio copy of this book!

I am a sucker for snowy covers! Apparently even during the summer because I have read two with very snowy themes recently!

This book starts out with a bang…a man lost in the wilderness eaten by a bear. Ooh ouch. Not a good way to go. As his wife Cameron mourns his death she soon realizes there was much more to his life than she realized. He is Seattles notorious serial killer. Soon the media and others point their finger at her thinking there is no way she couldn’t have known about her husband and his killings. As the story unfolds Cameron decides she will stop at nothing to hunt for the truth even if it makes her look guilty.

This book was very entertaining to listen to. The thought of someone you love and live with killing people right beneath your nose is crazy to think about and I am sure happens in real life. I liked her determined to get to the bottom of things to prove her innocence. The only thing I wished was there was a big build up of her in the end and I felt like it unraveled a little too quickly.

THE FINAL HUNT
Audrey J. Cole
Stacey Glemboski
Mystery/Thriller

Cameron’s husband is dead after a tragic hunting accident and now he is implicated in a string of murders. Cameron can not believe she has been living with a serial killer all these years. So, she goes on a mission to find the truth.

Audrey J. Cole definitely has a hit on her hands with this book. With its twists, the final truth will leave you reeling. This was definitely a five star read for me. I would recommend this book in audiobook or physical copy to anyone!
