Books about serial killers fascinate me and this one has a twist. There are plenty of secrets to go around and some edge of your seat frantic moments as we read about how far someone will go to learn the truth. Some of it was predictable but this didn’t take away from the excitement of the crimes and investigation!

This one will grab your attention from the exciting prologue! The story is a combination survivalist tale and mystery! The action moves quickly, and the narrator does a great job, making it an engaging story to listen to. Though the reader learns the identity of the serial killer early on, the author still has some surprises in store!

Not bad. It was mostly interesting, if a bit gruesome at times, and even the predictable parts weren’t uninteresting. As I’m finding a lot lately, the ending felt almost too nicely wrapped-up, but it wasn’t too bad. I didn’t mind most of the writing style, and I’ll have to see what else this writer has published.

In an intense story of a marriage gone wrong, Cameron finds her life has been more than turned upside down. Mourning the death of her husband, she is holed up in their Northern Washington cabin. Hanging on to the memories of him, she finds herself rifling through old photos and finds the unimaginable. Her late husband was a murderer.

Reeling from her discovery, she is determined to get to the bottom of this. Cameron runs off to Alaska on a whim and uncovers the deepest, darkest of secrets.

Secrets, betrayal, revenge, crime, and scandal. "The Final Hunt" has it all. While I did not love the unbelievable plot points and found there to be many holes, I was kept interested until the end.

Interesting plot.

Cameron's husband dies in a bear attack while hunting with a friend. Afterwards Cameron discovers photographs that prove her husband was a serial killer. Her life spirals out of control as she loses her friends, her dental practice starts failing, she's hounded by the press, and everyone, including the authorities, believe she must have known about or even assisted her husband.

When she realizes that women have gone missing in Alaska in similar situations to her husband's victims, she sets off to search for him - thinking that maybe he is not dead after all...

It was very atmospheric - especially all the story set in Alaska. No huge twists along the way, but an enjoyable read.

Thank you Ranier Publishing and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book in advance. You think you know someone...but then maybe not! That's the premise of this book and what attracted me to it was not only the genre, psychological thriller, but also the setting in the second half of the book as the main character deals with the Alaskan outback. I found some of it to be a bit unrealistic and I did guess who the bad guy was right at the beginning but it was an enjoyable book to listen to on my walks.

The Final Hunt by prolific author Audrey J. Cole is a twisty murder thriller. After Cameron's husband John is killed by a bear on a hunting trip she finds photos of him with murder victims. Soon the police and press know about him and she loses her dental practice, has to undersell her home and has nowhere to hide from her guilt by association. Then everything changes when she discovers John may be alive and now she's hunting him.

Narrator Stacey Glemboski had honesty in Cameron's frustration, grief, and anger. This one is more tense suspense then mystery. A fun ride.

A high 4⭐️. This was a mystery suspense and I chose to listen to this book on audio. The author did an excellent job grabbing my attention. I love crime podcast so I couldn’t wait to see how this went. The plot was great and I felt like the story was written convincingly well. The narrator was Stacey Glemboski and she was great. I highly recommend listening to this.

When Cameron’s husband dies by bear attack on a hunting trip, she uncovers a SIM card with photos of women he’s murdered. It turns out he’s the “teacher killer”, a serial killer in Seattle who has killed at least 11 women. Cameron begins to suspect he faked his death and is still alive, hiding out in Alaska, and she goes on a hunt of her own to find him.

This was a fast-paced thriller that can be read in one sitting. I did feel that the main character made some questionable choices just to prove her innocence once she was implicated in her husband’s crimes. I’m not sure I would go to the extremes she went to, but it did make an entertaining story.

I found the ending a bit predictable, and would have liked more character development and some big twists, but overall I enjoyed the story and it held my interest throughout. I thought the narrator did a nice job with bringing the story to life.

While parts of this book were somewhat unrealistic, this was such a good story! I didn’t care that it was fantastical. It is fiction!

I really liked the character of Cameron. She was kind but resourceful when she needed to be. Some of her actions and/or the storyline was a bit far-fetched, it didn’t deter from the story. She was strong, intelligent, and creative. The premise of trying to track down someone who everyone believes to be dead is exciting. It forced the protagonist to find creative ways to get the information she needed without sounding like she was going crazy after the death of her husband. The reader knows ever before Cameron that John is not dead. This makes it more interesting to watch as she discovers the things he had done and that he may still be alive. She has to really dig deep when trying to locate him. I listened to the book in two days. The narrator, Stacey Glemboski, was a perfect fit and I give her 5 stars.

I received an ARC from Orange Sky Audio and the author through NetGalley. This in no way affects my opinion or rating of this book. I am voluntarily submitting this review and am under no obligation to do so.

This is my first time reading a book by this author, I did enjoy it. Twist and turns of events and some surprising revels you might not be expecting. The story was somewhat predictable but didn't detract from the story for me I love the hunt in Alaska and the ending was great

The Final Hunt was well told in a way that kept the reader guessing. What did the wife know? People seem to always think, in books, that the family must have known. I always wonder if that is true in real life. Every time we think we know the true story, we are thrown just a little bone that may change what we know. Did Cameron really help her husband? Is John really dead? Can we trust anything be said? Why would I, a teacher, read about a killer who only kills teachers? The book was really non-stop action. Almost to the point of ridiculousness. Make a list of what could go wrong in any of the dangerous things Cameron attempts to do. Then check them off as they happen to Cameron. Hey, she’s not afraid to try something new! Fun read and interseting read.

This thriller grabbed my attention from the start and kept it throughout. I found certain aspects of the story to be predictable, but it did not detract from my enjoyment of the book. This is a quick and entertaining domestic suspense novel. The ending felt a bit rushed but I really enjoyed it and finished it in under 12 hours (with some sleeping in the mix). I love so many elements of the book. The MC's husband is the main suspect as The Teacher Killer and then supposedly dies in a hunting accident. She was a successful dentist but quickly learned how quickly the community turns on you. She takes matters into her own hands to find out the truth. This quest for the truth takes her to Alaska, which is always a setting I love. The detective's POV was a great touch as well. I saw all the twists coming ahead of time, but I still enjoyed the story!

I listened to the audio version and loved the narrator. I found the story itself to be a little predictable but I still enjoyed the author’s own spin on it.

This domestic suspense was a wild ride. Cameron and John seem like the perfect couple. Both successful in their careers. The type of go-getter, living life well couples that others aspire to be. John dies, by a bear attack of all things, and Cameron is crushed and heartbroken.

But then - Cameron starts discovering some of John's secrets and the wild ride begins. How did she not know what he was doing? How could she be so blind? She's determined to find out.

Many of the plots were a bit predictable. But I loved the narrator and the story was suspenseful and kept me interested. Even though some of what Cameron was doing definitely crossed the line, I couldn't help but cheer her on.

This was a new to me author that I will read again. Many thanks to NetGalley and Orange Sky Audio for an advance read copy in exchange for my honest review.

This audiobook held my attention and that's saying something. I've not been a fan of audiobooks in general because with many of them my mind starts wandering and then I've missed part of the book. That did not happen with The Final Hunt.

Cameron is mourning her husband, spending weekends at his cabin that she rarely visited when he was alive, in an effort to feel close to John, now that he was dead. I could just see her thumbing through books as the narrator talked, but that's when she finds a drive. She's expecting to see photos of them on vacation or something, but instead it's John posing with a dead woman in their bed there at the cabin. Not only that, but she can tell he is The Teacher serial killer. Way to burn the grief away straight to anger and shock. This may sound like I'm giving things away, but I'm not. This is all revealed in the first chapter or two. As the book unfolds Cameron uncovers more and more secrets. Then we start learning about Cameron's secret, too. Pair this with a detective who is like a dog with a bone he is never going to let go of and you have a cat and mouse game within a cat and mouse game as more is revealed throughout the book. I only have two complaints and they are small. I think some things were revealed too soon lessening the tension and although I was happy with the ending, I think one person should have questioned things a bit more (you'll know who I'm talking about when you finish the book.)
