The Final Hunt was a great read by Audrey J. Cole. John disappeared while hunting and he was presumed dead from a bear attack. His wife Cameron found photos from a crime. They discovered that John was involved in Seattle serial murders. The media came after Cameron and everything she has. Things start to make Cameron question if he is really dead. I enjoyed reading this book and can't wait to read more by the author.

🎧BOOK REVIEW🎧
Audrey J Cole is not a newbie to the thriller game but this is the first book I’ve read of hers and it won’t be my last. I actually got to listen to it on audio and I think Stacey Glemboski did a wonderful job with the narration.

John and Cameron Prescott are a notable couple in Seattle. John is a defense attorney and Cameron, a dentist. Cameron’s world is turned upside down when John is attacked by a bear at his hunting cabin and presumed dead. Quickly, she is transformed from grieving widow to total outcast once it is discovered John was actually the serial “Teacher Killer” terrorizing the area. If he could keep this big of a secret from her, Cameron thinks maybe he’s not really dead. She finds herself in the Alaskan wilderness, completely out of her comfort zone, searching for John. Going completely out of her way in a desperate search for the truth, she realizes she thought she was the only one in the marriage with secrets…

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

I liked Cole’s writing style and the story kept me captivated the whole time. Some twists were expected but I still enjoyed finding out how everything happened. Cameron is a strong female lead character and I was sad, angry, and excited for her at different points. I would definitely recommend this book especially if you’re looking for something quick that doesn’t have much filler.

Wow what a ride! This one really had me on the edge of my seat from the very start to the last page. This was my first book by this author but it won’t be the last. Thanks to NetGalley for the privilege to read and review this book.

I want to first thank the publishers for allowing me to read this book as an ARC!

Let me start by saying this book is a quick and easy read, especially as an audio book. Unfortunately the suspense of this book really fell flat for me.

This book follows Cameron as she tries to figure out how her husband was able to be a serial killer under nose. This story felt more like a quest for her to get revenge then a thriller.

This book is very easy to predict and there really isn’t much question about who did what. I think the author wanted us to question if Cameron is truly the bad guy but there are a lot of inner monologue so I personally never really questioned her intentions.

If you want an easy to read book with descriptions of beautiful Alaskan sensory, and a quest like structure with a little bit of suspense this is perfect for you. But if you want a book that is going to keep you guessing the entire time I would pick something else.

Wow. This was brilliant. I was so drawn In with the storyline and the characters.
Despite having a pretty good idea of what had gone down I was still gripped to the story and didn't want to put it down.
It was great to have such a strong, independent and determined female main character.

I voluntarily read and reviewed this book, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of The Final Hunt.

This is the story of Cameron and her husband Jack. She has just discovered a horrible secret that he has been keeping. Now that he has been killed in a hunting accident she is getting the heat from his secret. However she thinks he may not be dead and that he might be hiding out somewhere, so she sets off to find him in the Alaskan wilderness.

I really enjoyed this book it was very strange to know who his targets were but this book really had me hooked until the very end. I really felt so bad for Cameron the entire time her dental practice was going through the problems.

This is the first book I have read by Audrey Cole but it won't be the last. I loved the story and the style of writing made me feel like I was there. Cameron, a dentist in Washington was widowed when her husband John was killed in a bear attack while hunting in Alaska. In going through his things she finds some Polaroid pictures that implicate him as the Teacher Killer. Then her life starts to fall apart. The character development is excellent with realistic characters I had no trouble relating to even if I have never been in such a situation. Cameron is very likeable and turns out to be a strong heroine. She seems to have it all but there is a secret in her past. I couldn't help but feel sorry for her. Detective Tanner is very thorough and just keeps chewing on the facts of the case. He seemed uncaring but he was just doing his job and following the clues. The residents of the small town in Alaska were very welcoming and friendly, as residents of small towns frequently are. The plot moves along at a good pace with some surprises thrown in toward the end. The audiobook was very well done. Stacey Glemboski did an excellent job as narrator. Her pace and inflection were very good, she was easy to listen to, and she made Cameron believable. I want to thank netGalley and the publisher for allowing me to listen to an early copy of this book. This review is my honest opinion of this book.

ARC audiobook provided in exchange for an honest review.

Let me start by saying I really enjoyed the narrator of this book! She was clear, concise, and had the perfect voice to accompany Cameron’s character. The plot was intriguing and held my attention throughout, and the audiobook is short enough to be listened to in a single day if you’re looking for a road trip book. I initially thought this book was going to be more of a psychological thriller type head trip, but I found it to be more of a straight forward mystery/revenge trope. I still found it enjoyable and will be sure to check out other books by this author in the future!

Once I started reading/listening to The Final Hunt, I was hooked. Starts off with a mystery that doesn’t stop. Cameron was suffering from the loss of her husband, her dental practice was at risk, and the police thought she was an accomplice. And all her savings is gone. She starts trying to solve the mystery that took her to Alaska. Where did all the money? Was her husband really gone?

I thought I figured out how the story ended, but not what I thought.

Thank you NetGalley and OrangeSky Audio and publisher for the opportunity to review The Final Hunt.

Thank you BooksGoSocial and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this arc!

The Final Hunt was a very easy read (listen). I literally would have finished in one day if I didn’t have to adult. The narration paired with Cole’s vivid descriptions really sold the story for me. Was is a masterpiece? No. Did I predict most of the ending? Yes. Did it hold my attention? Absolutely!! Even though this read wasn’t as mysterious as I would have liked, the overall feel of the book was really good. If you prefer to be blown away by crazy reveals, I would pass on this one. But if you enjoy quick paced read with a female main character you can root for, I would definitely give this a try!

Hmm.

This was a very quick read. I liked the narration. I liked the pace of the story.

Was I blown away? No. I wasn't shocked at the ending, it was pretty predictable. I did really like Cameron though. I thought it was cool she was a dentist AND she could fly an airplane. She had a good personality and you couldn't help but to feel for her when she began to lose everyone and everything around her because of her husband's poor choices.

There was one thing that bothered me - and maybe it's because I live in a city where a serial killer lived and whatnot (BTK) but when his house was getting sold, I want to say it sold for a TON of money because there were a lot of crazies that were interesting in owning it. So the part of the story that Cameron's house was going to sell for way less because a serial killer lived there didn't feel authentic for me, but that was my only issue.

The story was good and because it was easy going I gave it 3 stars. I wish there would have been a major AHA moment, but we pretty much knew what was going to happen from the start.

Basic plot: After John disappeared while hunting - presumed dead from a bear attack - Cameron found the crime photos. His role in the recent Seattle serial murders was discovered. The media destroyed her reputation. She lost her dental practice, is on the brink of losing her home.

As Cameron grieves - the loss of her husband, her home, her reputation, her dental practice - her life - clues and suspicions begin to arise causing Cameron to question her husband's death. In many regards the plot line is predictable as a who-done-it yet the story line kept me interested and involved. I liked that much of the story takes place in Alaska, which in my reading isn't done often. Descriptions are good, chapters short (a plus for me).

This is an entertaining quick read.

I.... liked ? ......this book ?

If I'm being honest, I don't know how to describe this book. It's a thriller, yes, but there's also a romance ? element ? It's one of the most perplexing books I've ever read. I read the whole thing, and was never even tempted to stop, but it is absolutely not what I expected. There were times that I laughed out loud at a character (Dale) and I don't think I was supposed to. I'm rounding up my review to 3 stars because I don't want anyone to take my confusion as criticism. The book, characters and dialogue are easy to read, easy to understand, and believable. The romance/thriller mélange was unexpected but not infuriating (I am very easy to anger lol)

TY Netgalley & OrangeSky audio for this audiobook ARC! It really did make cleaning out my laundry room an enjoyable endeavor.

The Final Hunt is the story of Cameron, a woman whose husband is killed in a hunting accident. Months later, still depressed and mourning John's death, Cameron finds evidence that her husband, in fact, was a notorious serial killer, dubbed The Teacher Killer. Shocked, she takes the evidence to the police, who also begin to look at her for being an accomplice. Cameron also begins to suspect that John, in fact, may not be as dead as she and the authorities assumed (he was mauled by a bear, with his body never actually found.) Cameron feels that her only option is to investigate his death herself, and this leads her into her own hometown in Washington, to the wilds of Alaska, to finally find out the truth. All the while, Cameron has secrets of her own that she is trying to keep hidden.

This book is a whirlwind!!! It begins with immediate action, and the twists and turns of this book will take your breath away. At times, I found myself having to pause the recording, just to mentally catch up to what I was hearing! Overall, I loved the narrative, and the voice of the characters, and Cameron was a great protagonist that you found yourself rooting for. Despite her flaws, you really wanted her to succeed and be able to live and happy and fulfilled life. Overall, this book was great, and I would recommend it to those who like a good mystery/thriller. This definitely had a lot of both mystery and thrills.

Action packed thriller! The unpredictability of the main character was amazing! The final twist of the book in general was predictable though. I usually do not like books that have civilians act as police instead of the police but this book did it in a way that I really enjoyed. The police were not excluded during the investigation but the main character taking things into her own hands was really enjoyable to see. I wish I had the time to sit and listen to this book from beginning to end in one sitting. I never wanted to stop because so much was going on and it never slowed down!

Big thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook. If I'm being completely honest I can only give it a rating or 2.5 stars.

Cameron is a well educated woman, but I don't see that in the story due to the fact that she knows nothing of the wilderness yet is willing to take on the unknown. The book was a bit too unbelievable for me.

Cameron’s husband is killed by a bear in a freak accident while on a big game hunt. Afterward, while going through his stuff she finds evidence that he was the notorious “ Teacher Killer “ serial murderer.

The Final Hunt Wass a quick listen on audio and I imagine it would also be a quick read. The author's writing was easy to understand, yet it held your interest throughout. The story was pretty predictable and I figured it out fairly quickly. There also weren't any real big shocking revelations, but you know what? That didn’t even seem to matter in this story, I was entertained from the get-go, and stayed engrossed in the story until the very end.

I really enjoyed how the author dealt with the aftermath of finding out her husband was a serial killer and that information being made public on news networks and papers. The collapse of her dental practice as she loses patients and her trusty staff, some of who have been with her since the beginning, leave after learning the news to the devastating realization that she was left with nothing due to John's mishandling of their money.

The setting in the Alaska wilderness was very well written. I personally love a thriller that takes place in a dark barren frozen landscape, giving it a wee bit more of an eerie touch. The author threw in several good suspenseful moments that took place there, from some tense moments flying a small commuter plane to a hike through the woods that were full of wolves.

Most characters were likable, even being as morally gray as Cameron was, I liked her and her sheer determination. Of course, you can’t help but like Dane, and the connection between the two gives you a bit of a breather, making the story have some needed lighter moments

The Final Hunt was a great read, or for me listen. I enjoyed the narration and the story both, but I can see that some thriller fans, that like that BIG moment in the end or a story that has various twists might not be as thrilled with this as I was. It is a straightforward mystery that showcases some great storytelling and writing.

Possible small spoilers ahead.

This 3.5 stars.

The book starts out great. A woman grieving the death of her husband goes out to his hunting cabin to start cleaning out his hunting lodge, when she stumbles on a thumb drive. Thinking it’s pictures of them, she take it home only to discover it’s evidence that he has been leading a secret life.

What I loved.

Watching this woman’s life fall apart. How everyone judges and abandon her. How the media hounds her to level that should be harassment. The cop that may or may not be looking at her as an accomplice, and the levels to which this all pushes her toward.

What I didn’t like.

She goes on a vigilante trip, that is just not believable. Her little jaunt through Alaska alone in February was just not well thought out and was frankly unbelievable.

Now as for suspense.

I spent the book wanting answers. Most of them I guessed, but they were delivered in a way I still appreciated.

All in all, I would recommend this if you like a who done it kind of book.
