An erotic fiction filled with, vampires, witches, humans and a slow burn romance. This book wasn't all that but it tied.

Talk about a survivor; Jack is enterprising, and clever, and more than a little dis-interested in learning about his new existence. This is a good take on the traditional vampire story, and I enjoyed the way Jack handled his new life, but I'd have enjoyed a bit more curiosity on his part. As far as it being a "love" story between Jack and Angela... it's not. But they are both good characters, and their relationships and situations are interesting on their own; they don't need to be a couple for this to be a compelling story. In fact, trying to imply they have some kind of un-requited relationship is just silly. Even if they are attracted to each other, they aren't star-crossed lovers or genuinely nursing true love for one another. It's a bit disrespectful to Angela's actual relationship to imply otherwise. I suppose it's a good book blurb, but it's not what this story is about, and that's actually really good for the story itself.

Thank you Netgalley for the eARC. I went into this book with high expectations which might have been my problem. It was a tad bit confusing and I gave up halfway through

Thank you to NetGalley for granting this ARC, and fast read. The plot was interesting and the story was steamy.

My introduction to the works of Cassie Alexander was the “Nightshifted” series (in which a nurse discovers a new career path in a secret hospital ward for supernatural patients). I loved how she handled nonhuman characters, great dramatic tension, and smooth prose. So I picked up this first book in a new series without knowing much about it beyond the lots-of-queer sex content warnings. I found many of the elements I’d previously enjoyed, including characterization and great action sequences. The sex scenes were better done than usual for “high heat” stories. There was a nice balance in tension between a satisfying landing level for the first novel in a series on the one hand, and enough of a cliff-hanger so the reader will be left hungry for the next. My personal quibble, and other readers may feel quite differently, was that the sex scenes took up a disproportionate amount of space for what they contributed to the plot. I think this has to do with what different readers look for. If it’s a (in this case) action-mystery with sex scenes that enhance that plot, or if it’s very juicy sex scenes that make sense in terms of character and motivation. As I said, the scenes are very well done, great examples of how to write literate, well-paced intimate encounters. I especially liked the depiction of consent, the mutuality of pleasure, and the care of the partners for one another.

And of course, if that sex comes with vampire and werewolves, oh my, so much the better.

I enjoyed reading this book I gave it a three out of five stars. I plan on continuing on with the series. I liked the story and can't wait to read to see what happens next. I totally recommend this. I want to get a physical copy of this book/series.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Not sure where to start with this. It was a bunch of spicy scenes with not much else going on. The MCs aren't even together and the male MC is literally screwing his way around Vegas.

Without the sex there really isn't much more to the book and I won't be reading book 2

Well damn! This was a good beginning to a series. At times I did feel like there was a lot going on with the alternating storylines (Angela and Jack), I have a feeling the storyline merge at some point in the series though. But right now, you got Angela a werewolf who broke from her pack, and Jack a vampire on a mission to avenge his friend’s murder. BUT the smut?! There was a lot of that - MFF, MF, MM! Overall this was a short smut filled ride, and I’ll likely read more of the series.

Thank you to Netgalley for this free copy in exchange for an honest review!!

I really enjoyed the concept of this book as an Urban Fantasy setting. It’s definitely a strong start to the series, although I did feel this was mainly setting up the continuation of it - I would have loved to see more story and character development within this novel itself.

I thought the characters worked well individually but would have loved to see them interact together more, as this was build to be an end goal relationship between the two of them. Something to tease us along the way would have worked perfectly here although the character relationships we did get, I did enjoy.

Overall, this was a fun, quick read of which the world, I can’t wait to delve back into in the next book.

I knew I was going to enjoy this book and I was right, It was easy for me to get into and I read it in a day. I love the banter between Angela and Jack. I also love that this is an instant love story. Jack was my favorite character, and I loved his POV a lot more than Angela's. Yes, there was a lot, I mean a lot of sex but there was a good plot dealing with Angela's past, and one of Jack's friends. I really can't wait to read this next books in this series and more from Cassie Alexander,

Thank you Netgalley and Caskara Press for letting me read for my honest review

A romance that features werewolves and vampires. This is Jack and Angela's story. This book 1 of the series provides great background with some steamy scenes interspersed therein. Can't wait for part 2, as this one ends on a cliffhanger.

An interesting dual perspective novel, with the perfect blend of sensuality and suspense. The flow between Angela and Jack's narrative is smooth and their story progression makes for a well blended read.
This novel gives the vibes of Sons of Anarchy and Inked Magic blended together with vampires and werewolves. Absolutely loved it, and couldn't put it down when I started.

This has a dual POV featuring Angela, an owner of a tattoo shop, and her employee, Jack. I expected their relationship to progress further but it remained stagnant. Jack secretly pines over while she's dating another man. Their stories don't really overlap until the very end which ends on a cliffhanger that did make me go on to read the next two books in the series. I will say the overall pacing and order of events seem misplaced at yes but the premise and characters make me want to read further.

Where do i begin. I feel like I was confused for most of the book. Half the time I didn’t really know what was happening. There were a lot of spicy scenes thrown together throughout the book, which were beautifully written. But I think I struggled with the plot and the timeline of everything. regardless, the scenes that didn’t make sense where it was very well written and I’m interested to read more from this author, so we shall see! it is a pretty fast read tho.

This book was so weird. It's basically a bunch of spicy scenes thrown together with a little sort of plotline thrown in. Honestly, the plot can't be called that, it truly didn't follow a proper storyline. The only reason I finished reading this book is because it had so few pages. This was an absolute train wreck.

This was action packed, fast paced and filled with all the magical creatures you could wish for. It's just a bit sad that I didn't really connect with them or believe their chemistry. The spice was good, but would 100% have been better if I understood the characters a bit better. The plot was okay, but didn't really give me anything. I do feel like there is a lot of potential though, so I'll likely pick up a sequel!
