I have really enjoyed the Fix-It Witches series by Ann Aguirre, and Extra Witchy did not disappoint as a follow up - in fact, this is by far my favorite of the trilogy! 4.5-stars!

Not to detract from the first books, which I really still love, but this one is a marriage of convenience (my favorite trope), with an extremely strong-willed, knows who she is and what she wants, takes no nonsense from anybody kind of leading lady. My kind of gal! Even though the leading man is sort of a Charlie character (not Alpha, not even Beta), with extreme self-esteem issues from past relationships and family that just shouldn’t be allowed to have children, by the end of the book and Leanne’s encouragement and the strength of their relationship, along with his male friendships and some counseling, Trevor finds himself and the backbone that others took from him over the years.

The marriage of convenience between two lost souls (simply thinking of Leanne’s past relationships here, and Trev’s loss in faith in himself and life), for one to get out from under the thumbs of demeaning parents, and the other to run for a political office, turns out better than anyone could have imagined - and turns the magical world upside-down in a storyline that everyone truly needs to read, whether or not the first in the series have been read or not (this can be a true stand-alone). Great steam right from the start, we have Aguirre’s brilliant storytelling we’ve come to expect and enjoy immensely.

I received an advance copy from NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca, and this is my honest feedback.

I keep seeing posts looking for recs featuring witches—but not spooky. Specifically, books with strong autumnal vibes and witches akin to Sabrina the Teenage Witch starring Melissa Joan Hart and/or set in a town like Star’s Hollow. And I will say that the Fix-It Witches series by Ann Aguirre checks all those boxes. 🔮🐈‍⬛

Extra Witchy is the third book in the series, and you’ll definitely want to read or listen to the other books first for context. The first two are romcoms but also get into higher stakes witchy politics; this one is a return to your basic contemporary romance.

SUMMARY: Twice-married publicist Leanne meets and subsequently marries burnout Trevor to support her political aspirations (whatever it takes to get us to the classic marriage of convenience trope).

I loved it because the dynamic between this successful and dominant woman and her supportive new husband doesn’t get as much air time. It was also great to see Trevor, who others had pretty much given up on, come into his own when he starts to feel supported.

From my (straight, white lady) perspective, the series also feels like it’s coming from a progressive place in terms of sexuality and mental health. Several of the main characters mention dating a range of genders and family trauma has to be worked through with firm boundaries and/or therapy. Love to see it! 💖

Anyway, all the books are cute, but I found this one particularly charming.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thank you to @netgalley @sourcebookscasa and @ann_aguirre_author for an arc in exchange for an honest review! This book is available beginning Oct. 4!

This has been one of my favorite series since I started my bookstsgram, and I’m pleased to say this book was just as amazing as the first two books in this series. I LOVED THIS BOOK! This was my most anticipated ready for Fall release and it did big disappoint.

In similar fashion to the pervious books, the time line of this books is happening simultaneously with books 1 & 2. I love how unique that is. The first book, Witch Please, was Danica and Titus’s story (I think that one’s still my favorite). Book two, Boss Witch, we met Danica’s cousin Clem and Gavin the Witch Hunter and this book is Leanne and Travis’s story.

Leanne is beautiful, headstrong, independent, and she knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to go directly after it head on. I love a strong female MC. Add in the marriage of convince to Trevor and be still my witchy loving hurt! This was a perfect book to kick off spooky season.

Trevor I just melted for in this one. The poor guy had zero self esteem in the
beginning and it broke my heart. His journey of self discovery was my favorite part of this book. I loved how he cared and took care of Leanne. He was Charming and oh so sexy and sweet!

I was glued to this book. Once I started there was really no way to put this down. The ending in this one was really interesting and I can’t wait to see how that incorporates into the next books. I’m assuming this series will continue and I can’t wait to see who book 4 is about, maybe Vanessa? Maybe Margie? Either way count me in! Thank you to and netgalley and sourcebooks for this arc in exchange for my honest review.

The much anticipated third book of the fix it witches series is out and better than ever!

Leanne Vanderpol has it all, a great job on the mayors staff a great group of women from her coven to support her and a comfortable home. But when she decides to break off from the mayor to start her own political career, she needs to get herself a husband to make herself more appealing. She's been divorced twice, and knows her political opponent will use it against her. Enter Trevor Montgomery. He's what we classify as "peaked" in high school. But a break up has left him a shell of his past self. He needs a purpose, and Leanne has just the job for him. A Fake Husband. Can a woman who doesn't believe in forever find true love with a man who's stopped believing in anything at all

Gosh did I love this book! We've got a classic fake dating/marriage trope here. Leanne is the strong female character we need in romance books. She doesn't need a man to make her life a success, she needs one to jump start her political career and smash the patriarchy... and the witchriarchy? Trev was so relatable. he's down on his luck, struggle with mental health and Leanne shows him the way to dig himself out of the rut he's in. Leanne doesn't fix his problems, he does it himself. I also loved that they show him as a house husband who is comfortable in his decisions to do that. Sure does he has an insecure moment or two, but he doesn't become this toxic role reversal. Also the description classified Trev as a pan-character, but I didn't really get that vibe at all in the book. Was it mentioned and I just missed it? There is a secondary plot line about the witches coming out of hiding which I absolutely adored as well. It brought a lot more substance to this novel besides just being a light rom-com.

Overall this is the perfect romance to itch your witchy vibes this halloween season. Thanks to the publisher for the ARC in return for an honest review. This book releases 10/4!

Leanne is ready to stop helping St. Claire's politicians sounds good and earn a seat on the city council herself. Trevor is currently aimless, not really sure what to do with his life, but when he and Leanne meet, Leanne is sure a marriage of convenience will clean up her image perfectly.

This was a pretty steamy romance, but my favorite part was the witch politics.

Extra Witchy is such a fun cute read. I love this one so much. Leanne and Trevor are so sweet together. I love how Trevor jumps in and helps Leanne with her goals. Leanne is smart and going places and not just in the witchy world. I love everything Leanne does to push the truth out. This may be a marriage of convenience but they just make so much sense. There is this connection you will just love as you giggle your way through this one. You need to read this one now.

My Thoughts

Characters Leanne Vanderpol and Trevor Montgomery are my absolute favorite couple of the three in series.

When Leanne Vanderpol meets Trevor Montgomery for the first time she wants to have him for one night so offer a proposition to him by stating she thinks he would make a good third husband.

Thus setting up their future relationship never realizing it would actually come true sooner than later.

For me when these two enter into a marriage of convenience I knew things would quickly become real, although of course neither one will admit it to themselves much less to each other.

Leannes character is balanced well by Trevors in this somewhat non typical relationship.

She is career driven and he is willing to stay in the background taking care of all the day to day chores at home as well as supporting her in other capacities that keep her life smoother.

I found the pair delightfully totally supportive of each other with no reservations right from the start and as they grew into a real partnership the story became even more meaningful because so many old wounds were healed for each of them.

My hope is that this series continues as the coven of witches still has other members deserving their own time to shine.

Ann Aguirre's Fit-It Witches series is the perfect Spooky Season read for lovers of the witchy rom-com. Thankfully, a new installment of the series is hitting shelves soon. I got the opportunity to read an ARC of Extra Witchy recently and was so excited to return to Aguirre's magical world!

This time around the action is focused on Leanne Vanderpool, the unlucky-in-love, twice-divorced member of the coven we've come to know in the previous two books. One interesting trend we're seeing in the Fit-It Witches series is that the subsequent books don't take place immediately after the previous one. The action actually takes place somewhere in the middle of the last, like a camera turning to focus on a different scene. So those who read the first book know Leanne meets the very Golden Retriever-esque Trevor Montgomery at a party and the two hooked up in the bathroom. Those who read book 2 know that Leanne and Trevor got married soon after and, post-time-jump, have a child. But we don't really know either of them or their stories until Extra Witchy, and it turns out both characters are well worth getting to know.

These two are the definition of "still waters run deep." Up until now, all we really know about Leanne is she's prone to questionable behavior: two failed marriages, a drunken hook-up and a quicky marriage. The real story is Leanne has been burned and would rather focus on her career in politics than finding "The One." Unfortunately for her, voters don't tend to cast a ballot for single divorcees and she sees a solution when she meets Trevor, a seemingly easy-going, fun-loving guy who also happens to be gorgeous. She proposes a no-strings-attached fake marriage to tick all the political boxes and strengthen her campaign. She soon finds that Trevor is far from the one-dimensional dudebro he appears to be. He's actually deeply depressed, with self-esteem issues and a toxic family. As the two get to know each other, their arrangement is challenged, along with all their preconceived notions about themselves, each other, and love.

While I wasn't as head-over-heels for this one, I did enjoy returning to the Fix-It Witches world and its coven. I think a big reason why it wasn't my favorite is I'm more invested in the Waterhouse family than I am in the other members of the coven. That said, it's always nice to have characters with depth and stories featuring casual LGBTQIA+ representation, and this book has both in spades.

Thanks, as always, to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for this ARC.

As someone that reads a lot of vampire romances, rarely ones with witches, and almost never contemporary romance this one made my heart so happy. It was written from the perspective of both leads which I really liked the insight of the romance from them both. For Leanne the female lead being a witch I appreciate it wasn’t the only part of her personality. She is a woman that has her eyes set on her goals and she got them all with the help of a very supportive man. Third times the charm most definitely in this case. The novel fit into what I would imagine contemporary romances are like with it still feeling very much of this world with a little splash of magic. Trev and Leanne’s romance was exciting, spontaneous, and in the end deeply rooted in love with respect and support for each other. There were several moments I was teary with joy or having that awe that’s so sweet moments. The relationship and the main characters remained myself of the relationship I have with my own partner which isn’t something that normally happens while reading. This is a good book for an autumn or anytime TBR list for someone that wants an excellent romance with a witchy touch.

I love a fake relationship and a marriage of convenience. It’s the best kind of tension. This book has all of the pieces of a great read for me, but as I read I found it too cluttered. The conflict resolved quickly and then 6 other things happened that spun me in circles and distracted me from the romance. It felt cluttered and I wanted to love this community and couple more.

*I received a free ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review*

"Extra Witchy" is a delightful story about trust, healing, finding love in unexpected places, and (of course) witches!

I was really pleased that this 3rd book dealt with some of the issues I had with book 2, "Boss Witch". This doesn't jump in without context like the previous book did, and while I wouldn't recommend to read it as a stand-alone you definitely could.

I found both of the characters likeable, relatable, and well-rounded. They both had a lot of growth to do at the beginning of the book, and the author takes you as the reader along that journey. It's wonderful to see how Leanne and Trevor complimented each other and grew together. This had a lot of heart and a sprinkling of witchy vibes, and overall I enjoyed it and would recommend it.

I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of this book.

I was so excited when I realized that I had received a ARC of this book. This was another phenomenal book in the Fix-It Witches series. I have read the 2 previous books in this series and loved them but this one by far was my favorite. I immediately fell in love with both Leanne and Trev. This book immediately pulls you in and I defiantly did not want to it let go. I couldn't wait to finish the book but was so sad when it was over.

I really enjoyed this book. Leanne and Trev are two characters that didn't realize how much they needed the other.

They are each dealing with their own troubles and there own past traumas. Trev is in a dark place and can't seem to pull himself out or even believe that he is worth pulling out.

His family is really toxic and therefore tell him how much he's not worth it. Not to mention his sucky ex who put him in the place he was in.

But when he meets Leanne and cant believe that she really wants him, he starts to believe in himself. I loved watching Trev gain his confidence and cut his toxic family out of his life. I also love watching him realize that he was worth it.

Leanne has familial trauma also and has never really opened up to anyone even her past two husbands. But she finds herself opening up and telling Trev things that she would never tell anyone.

Leanne finally finds someone she can lean on and really trust. And Trev finds someone that believes in him and helps push him forward and supports him.

“If you were mine, Butterfly—truly mine—I would never ask the universe for anything else.”

I never though the fake relationship trope was my thing but I'm starting to realize just how much I love it! These two had the perfect fake relationship that quickly turned real.

I love how sweet Trev was with Leanne and how he loved doing things for her and making sure she was taken care of.

And I really loved how Leanne believed in Trev and believed that he could do whatever he wanted to do and she would support him. I love how she also help boost his confidence. And how Trev was aware enough to know when he needed help.

This was a great book and I loved both of these characters very much. The only thing I think was a little off putting was the way it was written, it was a weird writing style and I had to go back and really some lines over and over like wait did I miss something.

Other than that great book!

I loved reading this book! This series is so much fun, and I had a great time reading Leanne and Trevor's story! We've seen the beginning and the end from the first two books, but not the journey along the way, and it was so great to get that!

The thing I think I loved most about this book was how supportive that she was of him. He had a lo of negative self talk and image, and she pushed back at that, to get him to see himself better. And that was just a really great message!

Reading about Leanne and Trevor was so great! They started off unconventionally, and continued that way, with a marriage of convenience. They worked so well together, and along the way, caught real, lasting feelings for one another. It was such an adorable read!

There were a number of developments in this book. There's the personal ones, with learning to be together, dealing with their family members, and that one secret there. And then there's the bigger world development, just the previous book, and I need to know what's going to follow on from that!

This was such a great read, and I can't wait to see where the series goes from here!

Enjoyed this story! Would have loved to see more of the supernatural/paranormal aspect, but it all tied together in the end. Love the message throughout the book. The different relationship dynamics really kept you entertained. Found myself relating a bit with both MCs.
Would have enjoyed a longer epilogue. Excited to see if we get more of the coven in the future.

🥰 LEANNE AND TREV 4EVER 🥰

I absolutely loved this book. (thanks to Netgalley for the arc!) Leanne's personality was so dynamic and I loved her fierceness and assertiveness. Trev was an actual precious angel who we need to keep safe and protected at all costs. I absolutely love this pairing. The dynamics of these two together were absolutely perfect.

I loved the local election storyline, mention of social media/going viral, and Trev's personal growth throughout the book.

The storyline with Leanne's mother was so well thought out. Junie was comedic relief at times but also very important to Leanne's character and it helped me understand the choices she made so much better. I really enjoyed how Trev dealt with Junie. Firm yet soft, protecting Leanne first while also trying to help his mother in law was really sweet.

Trev and Leanne hypenating their names together was so so so sweet and "you're making me feel all sparkly, butterfly" had me weak in the knees!!!

The ending made me SWOON, duh, and I hope we get more of St Claire, more of the coven (Vanessa plz!!!!!) and more magic in the future!!

Ugh I loved this witchy romance! Every book in this series gets better! And I absolutely loved Trev and Leanne. Trev is so precious and should be protected at all costs. Leanne is such a badass!
I don’t always love marriage of convenience but it felt believable and worked in this book.
I hope we get more in this series!

Thanks to Netgalley and SOURCEBOOKS Casablanca for an eARC.

Genre: contemporary paranormal rom-com

4.5 stars

Married twice before, Leanne Vanderpol uses a cheesy pickup line to hook up with Trevor Montgomery at a party: “I’m Leanne. Want to be my third husband?” And yet, as Director of Communications for the mayor’s office, contemplating a run for city council herself, and hiding the fact that she’s actually a witch, and dealing with a mother who drops in out of the sky, it’s really not the oddest proposition. So Leanne proposes for real, and Trev agrees to be house husband, taking over all domestic duties, while he also tries to figure out how to get his feet back on the ground after a long stint in his parents’ basement. It’s a mutually beneficial relationship, and they clearly already have a spark. Trev doesn’t know why his wife is different from humans, he just knows she deserves all of his devotion.

I really enjoy reading this series. There are moments where it feels a little corny, but almost intentionally, giving it the paranormal rom-com feel. Marriage of convenience is my favorite trope in historical romance, but it’s hit or miss for me as a contemporary trope. In most of my contemporaries, I don’t need the stakes to be quite so high. But sometimes it works really well, and all I wanted was for Leanne and Trev to succeed. Leanne never once demeans Trev for his depression or anxiety, or the fact that he lives in his parents’ basement and he’s in his thirties. She sees him for who he truly is and gives him the right level of encouragement to excel at something he’s passionate about. And Trev doesn’t only see Leanne as driven or heartless, or a pretty face.

Extra Witchy has a nice balance of internal and external pressure on Leanne and Trev’s relationship. As a bonus, Leanne is 37 and Trev is 33, so with older main characters, the conflict felt believable (as much as hiding your witchiness is truly “believable”) as did the reason for a rushed marriage of convenience in the first place. And honestly, I don’t always love an “early bang” because I spend the rest of the book worrying, but I loved how this one started off!

Extra Witchy is book 3 in the Fix-it Witches series by Ann Aguirre. If you enjoyed the other two then you'll enjoy this one as well. You'll get to revisit witches from the coven, but you dong need to have read the others to enjoy this one. Its a great seasonal read, but enjoyable anytime during the year.

Thank you to net galley for the advanced digital copy of Extra Witchy.

I love the new installment of this series. I am enjoying being able to see the different relationships between the covern members. I hope the next book focus on Melinda and Dante. I want to see what happened in her past. I enjoyed being able to see Trev and Leanne able to work through their difference and work together to create a better life for each other and the other witches. Look forward to the next book. I hope the next in the series are just as good as the first 3.
