A Scot of Her Own is a tale as old as time... Boy meets warrior on the battlefield, warrior is revealed to be a girl, girl tries to kill boy, boy takes girl as prisoner, and then they have a passionate hook-up in the middle of the night, Classic!

This historical romance is bursting with energy (and muscles), a kickass heroine, and a tough Scottish warriot with a heart of gold. Adellis and Thor have an undeniably explosive chemistry from the very start and it is so much fun to witness their relationship develop in the midst of the violent conflict surrounding their story. A Scot of Her Own is a fast-paced historical romance perfect for anyone the loves adventure, love at first fight, and hunky Scottish Warriors!

A Scot of Her Own is the first book in a new series by Maeve Greyson and also the second book that I read by this author.
This story is focused on Thorburn, scottish mighty warrior, and Adeliss, fierce norwegian who seeks freedom. I liked both main characters and enjoyed their interactions. My only problem is the lack of some drama and how easily they move from one fight to another. I would welcome a little more difficulties. But I enjoyed the story. It was fast and easy read.
Thank you Netgalley, the Publishers and the Author for an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

A delicious enemies-to-lovers romance set in 1273 Scotland

Thorburn leads his small army against a rogue band of insurgents that is led by an especially cruel and delusional narcissist. Not one to ever take prisoners, he removes the helmet of the small but fierce warrior who almost took him down, only to find that she's quite a dangerous handful.

Adellis knows that being taken captive by the enemy is her only chance to escape her barbaric brother, but she now has to escape the Scottish bear that has her chained in his tent. I loved how unapologetic she was about using whatever weapons - physical or otherwise - she could find to defend herself. I loved every bit of her character - her compassion, her fearlessness, her determination to never again be at the mercy of a man.

I loved the secondary characters, especially how the author highlighted the fact that heroes come in all shapes and sizes, and a man doesn't have to wield a sword to prove his worth. This may be a short novella, but it's packed with loads of action and all the passion a reader could hope for. Thor and Adellis finally bring justice to their region and are rewarded with a very satisfying HEA. I couldn't have loved this more, and highly recommend it for anyone who loves Scottish romances. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Loving this new series.
So good, filled with action, and romance ,with some excellent and interesting characters.
Maeve always excels at these highland based stories and I can honestly say she’s becoming one of my favourites.
Thorburn and Adellis are so chemistry driven, they make for a very addictive read.

If that’s the sort of escape your after this is definitely the book you should be reading.

I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review

The book synopsis really drew me in and had me super excited about this book. Unfortunately, it did not pan out as I had hoped. From the very beginning there was very little story development. The 2 main characters meet, are enemies, but immediately start having a sexual relationship. And the sex was so cheesy. As hard as I tried, I could not finish this book. So disappointing.

Maeve Greyson dazzles her readers with sexy stories that are also endearingly tender. Her characters tug at your heart-strings and make you sad to turn the last page.

It's always a thrill when Maeve Greyson writes a new book, this author is a "must read" for me! I thoroughly enjoyed this latest story and I loved the characters....well, except for Adellis' twin brother! lol I also loved how Adellis and Thorburn first meet, talk about a tense situation!!

All Adellis wants is freedom from her tyrant twin brother and if she has to be captured by an enemy to gain that freedom, then so be it. When Thor makes her his captive, she soon realizes he's not the brute she thought he would be. As attraction turns to love, not only do they have to fight to have a future together, they must also battle the enemies and traitors in their midst.

No excess drama, well written steamy scenes and with Scotland as the background, this was well worth the read. I received an ARC of this book via NetGalley and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Thank you to Netgalley, Dragonblade Publishing, and Ms. Greyson for the opportunity to read an ARC of this title. An honest review was requested but not required.

I somehow missed going in that this was a novella. I kept thinking, wow, they’re moving awfully quickly, and then noticing with surprise that I was already 2/3 of the way finished. Okay, a novella, now I guess it makes sense. There wasn’t a ton of plot (it’s a real feat to pull off a reasonably finished plot in a novella) but the characters were well drawn and the love story (while basically instantaneous) was fulfilling. I especially liked the very early medieval setting, with the Scottish/Norse terminology and roles. I would definitely try another book by Ms. Greyson but I think I would prefer a full-length novel; there’s more time for the relationships (and plot) to grow organically.

Thorburn was battling a fierce yet small warrior. This warrior was very fast and great at fighting yet so small for a man. When he pulls off their helmet he discovers it is a woman. Adellis has suffered so much due to her mad twin brother. She has escaped him again and is determined this time to never go back to him. She did count on being taken captive by such a handsome and strong warrior. She starts to develop feelings for him and she feels like this could be a great start to something great. Will she be able to escape her brother’s wrath and kill him for good? Will Thorburn be able to marry Adellis? was given an ARC through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review?

Warrior Thorburn MacDougall is tasked with stopping the Northmen who are causing trouble and killing a lot of people on the Isle of Mull. His latest opponent in battle will cause him a lot of extra problems.

Norwegian Addelis has been searching for a way to escape for years. The risk she faces in battle is no worse than her everyday life.

This is an exciting if somewhat short historical romance with fierce characters. Lots of danger and some sexy scenes.

Good fun.

This is mij first book by this author and I thought it was an ok read. I liked the heroine, she was very brave and feisty and didn't let anything or anyone keep her down.

There was a lot of fighting and riding around the countryside but I felt it lacked interaction between the main characters. They didn't spent a lot of time together which made the whole insta romance not very believeable.

This is my first read from Maeve Greyson and I enjoyed it! I'm a big fan of historical romance and really like more medieval periods as opposed to Victorian. The heroine is feisty, strong, and can fight with the burly guys. The hero is surprisingly gentle for a tough mercenary. They work well together and have sparks. I only wish it was longer to give more space for character and relationship development. It's a short read- only about 140 pages. But I just saw that her other books are available on KU, so I'm going to check those out!

One of the biggest reasons I enjoyed this book so much was that the two main characters were adults and they acted like it. They actually talked to each other when there was a misunderstanding and they did not keep secret why they did something. It was so refreshing! I hate how far too many authors have the characters act like they can't tell their partner anything just so it'll stir up more drama. They're adults. They can use their words.

I really liked Thor and Adellis together. Thor is constable and is currently leading his men to fight against the Northerners who are blatantly breaking the peace treaty. He finds himself fighting a small warrior, swift on their feet, and who clearly knows how to fight. But imagine his surprise when he finally bests them and removes their helm only to discover it's a woman. And killing a woman goes against his honor. But he's never taken a prisoner before either. Even so, he is fascinated by this feisty hellcat and takes her along as his prisoner. A position that doesn't even last the night.

Adellis has quite a tragic background. And this is one of the points I liked with her just telling Thor why she is there. Instead of holding her tongue and being defiant, Adellis tells him of the cruelties she has suffered at her own brother's hands and why him taking her as a prisoner is exactly what she had been hoping for. Her honestly only adds to everything that Thor already admired her for, and he frees her.

Of course, there was an instant attraction between these two. But this was one of the very rare times that I didn't care. At all. Because these two are so similar to each other, they just worked together perfectly as a couple. It's this attraction, and the fact that Adellis actually feels safe for once, that she chooses to stay with Thor.

Unfortunately, her brother will not her go that easily and he sets a trap to capture her again. In a most painful way. Needless to say, Thor is livid when he returns to his camp to find it ablaze and his woman nowhere to be found. He knows he can't just rush in to save her, but boy does he want to. It's a few days later when him and his men find the enemy camp with Adellis inside. But her strength and determination surprise him again before he can even be the one to save her.

Together again, these two finally go face off against Adellis's brother. I will say that it was rather anti-climatic, but all in all not necessarily bad how that all goes down. But now they must face the Lord that Thor serves and that scares Adellis the most. Everything works out in the end, in a way that had me chuckling a couple times, and we even get a nice epilogue of a few years later.

This was definitely a short, enjoyable read for me. So it wouldn't be too hard to get me to check out any more of this series.

Adellis is fighting her brother, and now has to fight a massive Scottish bear. Thorburn is with his brothers fighting the Norsemen who are invading, and doesn't expect to find a feisty woman warrior. Fun story by a great writer. Would highly recommend.

I enjoyed this one, there wasn’t as much angst or drama as I’d expected. But it made for a nice entertaining romance.

Maeve Greyson has started a new series featuring medieval highlanders and Norwegian warriors. I enjoyed this story and liked that the female MC was fierce and not afraid to fight for her happiness. The story was easy to read and all the supporting characters were interesting and I can’t wait to see which of them gets featured in this series.

I was a little frustrated with the lack of angst and the ease these MCs moved from battle to battle. Situations throughout the story were just resolved too easily for my liking. Add in the instant love aspect after the MCs meeting in battle, just not enough strife. Yes, I guess I like my MCs to work a little harder for their HEA. 👀

I am ready for the rest of the series. A Scot of her Own was an excellent start to this series and as complete as the story was, I want more of these characters. The chemistry between Adellis and Thorburn could melt the page. It was there from the beginning. Not only were those two main characters beguiling , his brothers ,Ross and Vallen were as well. I am sure their stories will be just as captivating. There is hot, steamy well-written sex scenes. I read this book in one sitting. It was hard to put down.
