Ordinarily I love this author's books but I had a hard time getting into this one. I like a lot of the books in this series and thought I would be completely into a book about the child of one of the characters in a previous book. But I just...wasn't. There is an age gap between Jazzy and Roan but it's not a huge one and he really isn't that old, but he acts like he is in his 50's or 60's and that his whole life is over. It was super weird. And then you throw in this strange conflict between Jazzy and her co-worker and I was having a hard time finishing it. The writing itself if fine-it's the characters and how they are that I had some massive issues with. Some people will probably truly love it. Unfortunately I wasn't one of them, which really left me stunned as I have never had an issue with this author's books before. Hopefully it's just a one off for me!

This was such a fun romantic story to read. Jazzy's warm, vibrant, sunny character pulled me into the story, although sometimes she made me mad because she was too nice to her nemesis, Andi. I enjoyed their many interesting competitions.

I liked Roan who was a single dad raising his cute four year old daughter, Trinity. I enjoyed the story being set at Christmas, the Twilight myth and the Twilight Christmas Cookie Challenge.
This story made me want to bake cookies and drink hot chocolate. It also sounded so interesting to bake cookies outdoors on a fire with a dutch oven. I could easily picture this book as a movie because it touched my heart as I was reading it. I look forward to reading the other books set in Twilight, Texas that I have missed. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.

The Cowboy Cookie Challenge by Lori Wilde is a wonderful Christmas love story for women. Roan and Jazzy fall in love because of the cookie challenge Jazzy enters.

Whenever I get a chance to return to Twilight, Texas, I am ALL in. The Cowboy Cookie Challenge by Lori Wilde was such a wonderful read that I am still smiling from the enjoyment I got from it one day later. Jazzy Walker is a character we’ve met before when she was a young child in The First Love Cookie Club, and now she’s ready her love story. Jazzy is a pediatric nurse and has a competitive rivalry with her frenemy Andi Browning. Andi wins everything they compete in and to add insult to injury, just recently got engaged to her ex-boyfriend. Jazzy wants to win the Cookie Bake-Off badly and needs help to win. When she finds out that Roan Sullivan was a championship baker himself, she tries to recruit him to teach her his techniques but he’s not having it. Roan has become somewhat of a curmudgeon after the death of his wife, and blames baking for taking him away at a critical time in his life. It takes Jazzy’s persistence to get him to change his mind and maybe also have a change of heart.

I love second chance love romances because the characters open up their hearts again and the journey can be heart-wrenching. In the beginning their closed off and that they don’t consider the possibility of finding love again. Roan was a single dad raising his young daughter and had enough on his plate. Starting a relationship, even a rebound friendship, was too much to handle, plus he felt old being 10 years older. Jazzy however was upfront with Roan and made her intentions known that she was attracted to him. He reluctantly agrees but realizes how much he enjoys his time with Jazzy and that the attraction is mutual. There are bumps here and there but that is all par for the course and it all works out for everyone. I do love an epilogue at the end of a story and this one I wish would have been more of it. The author has created another romantic story and it to be around the Christmas season is icing on the cake. I never like to see a Twilight story end because it is such a romantic town and the legacy of true love sweethearts is always on people’s minds.

A fun holiday time read, small town, age gap, cookie baking romance. Jazzy is a pediatric nurse in the town of Twilight, TX. She meets Roan, the father of her charge, after her surgery. Roan, is attracted but feels he is too old for Jazzy.

Jazzy enters the town Holiday Cooking Contest, but Jazzy can not cook. In addition, the theme is a specialty cooking that Roan is a champion of. Jazzy enlists Roan’s help; she needs to best Andi in something.
I enjoyed reading about the character growth and seeing them thrive together—a nice holiday read.

Thank you to NetGalley and Avon and Harper Voyager for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

The Cowboy Cookie Challenge is the 13th book in Lori Wilde’s Twilight, Texas series. In this story, pediatric nurse Jasmine (Jazzy) Walker meets widowed dad Roan Sullivan when his 4 year old daughter Trinity is hospitalized for a tonsillectomy. Having lost his wife during a surgical procedure, Roan is distraught. As the child’s nurse, Jazzy becomes entrenched in caring for both daughter and father. Both Jazzy and Roan have sworn off the dating scene, but form a friendship dedicated to Trinity’s healing.

As the holidays approach, Jazzy’s rival and fellow nurse Andi Browning challenges Jazzy to the annual town Christmas cookie baking competition, but this year’s competition will be using campfire baking techniques. Jazzy really knows nothing about baking but Andi has won the past two years. Being very competitive, and having lost out to Andi so many times including her former boyfriend Danny Garza, Jazzy takes the bait and registers for the competition.
Knowing nothing about baking, let alone campfire baking, Jazzy consults Roan as he and his late wife were campfire cooking gurus. At first hesitant, Roan agrees to coach Jazzy, setting the stage for such a delightful story.

Lori Wilde creates such lovely characters in delightful settings, and with intriguing plots. This is another such story and it certainly does not disappoint. I very much enjoyed this book and I do recommend it!

It's always a treat to return to this Twilight, TX, world because I know I’m in for a sweet, funny, heartfelt, phenomenal read. This one, my reader friend, is no different and has all the makings of a Hallmark Christmas movie. I adore Wilde's small Texas town and her charming, loveable characters, and this story is everything I expected but so much more!

Jazzy Walker wants nothing more than to win the Twilight Christmas Cookie Bake-off, for several reasons. The biggest reason may have something to do with beating the town's mean girl, who somehow wins everything all the time. The same mean girl who says Jazzy is just too nice and had no problem taking something, or someone, who was supposed to belong to Jazzy. The only obstacle in Jazzy's way? She can’t bake. Unless burnt beyond recognition counts.

Roan Sullivan is a champion campfire baker, but these days he's focused on raising his daughter, Trinity, alone. His first reaction when a too-young-for-him Jazzy asks for his help is not only a resounding no, but a…, well, you know. But some kind of Christmas magic must be in the air, because it's not long before Roan is giving Jazzy campfire baking lessons.

Oh my heart, y'all, I loved everything about this one! From adorable little Trinity to the thawing of Roan's heart, to Jazzy learning and growing, and the mean girl's redemption. Charming, heartwarming, uplifting and all kinds of holiday wonderful, this is my new Wilde favorite and just the thing to put you in the best of Christmas sprits!

Ms. Wilde wrote some great characters in this book. I love Jazzy Walker. She has overcome so much that she chooses to stay on the positive side, especially as a pediatric nurse. Andi Browning is her nemesis. She's mean spirited and goes out of her way to make Jazzy lose at whatever the competition is. Roan Sullivan is a single dad working on his ranch. He has a precocious daughter named Trinity. Into the ER she came and that's when Jazzy was one of the nurses to take care of her. It's when Roan crawled under her skin and stayed. They fought their attraction. How can it wok out? He feels he's to old for her. Their ex's keeping popping up between them. With the help of Roan, she becomes a baker that has a chance of winning the contest. Only she gets disqualified and the romance is over according to Roan. Miracles do happen at Christmas with the help of kismet cookies. Loved the ending!

This is my first read from the author, and I'm in love. I didn't realize that this book is part of an ongoing series, but that wasn't a problem at all. But it does make me want to go back and read the previous books. I really like Jazzy, "toxic positivity" and all. She and best friend Charlie are a riot together. She's not perfect, but she's a wonderful friend/worker, and everyone loves her. Except for her arch-rival. Andi and Danny are mostly unlikable, but they add a good touch of drama, and provide the basis for the lifelong rivalry between Jazzy and Andi. Roan acts like an old man sometimes, but he's a great dad, and hot AF even if he doesn't realize it. Jazzy and Roan are steaming hot in the kitchen or around the campfire as he teaches her to bake. They would be in the bedroom as well if they could get rid of their ghosts (his deceased wife and her ex-boyfriend). It's a short journey to love for them, and I'm glad to have been able to read their book. I received an advance review copy from NetGalley, and this is my honest review.

What a wonderful holiday story. Roan is 33, and a widower with a young daughter. Jasmine aka Jazzy is 23 and a pediatric nurse. They meet when Roans daughter Trinity has an emergency tonsillectomy.

Sparks fly but it's not until Jazzy enters a campfire cooking challenge that they solidify the relationship. But can they overcome the 10 year age difference, acceptance of their past love's infidelity and death to make it work?

With a bit of kismet cookie magic and true love, you'll be delighted with the story from start to finish.

I voluntarily read and reviewed the ARC sent by Netgalley and the publisher. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The Cowboy Cookie Challenge
By: Lori Wilde

📚💕⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💕📚

Can sweet and lost become one?

In this sweet book from Author Lori Wilde we get book 13 in the Twilight Texas series. When you take two beautiful people that are broke whether from loss or betrayal and a very sweet 4 year old child you get the perfect foundation for a possible love match if they just get out of their own way. The author writing is flawless, and the words are so captivating, the plot had so many twists and turns and none that I was expecting, and many shockingly intimate I have become a huge fan of this author. The author writes with so much intensity and emotion pulled from each book it’s felt page after page. Some are quick witted story lines are so perfect and lets you believe you have a front row seat. So being able to read this love story didn’t disappoint. The authors ability to have two separate individuals struggling in their everyday life and try to navigate someone else’s thoughts, needs and desires was intense and gives all the fills.

Authors Blurb: He’s sexy, single, and he can bake.

Roan Sullivan is the answer to Jazzy Walker’s prayers. The doting single dad is also fresh off his win on a popular cooking show and a whiz at campfire cooking, so who better to help her win this year’s annual cookie bake-off? With his help, Jazzy is sure she can finally take first prize right out the grasping hands of Andi Browning, the gal who stole her fiancé right from under her nose.

A widower with a four-year-old daughter, Roan tells himself there’s a million reasons not to help Jazzy. She’s too kind, too optimistic, and could do so much better than hitching up with a curmudgeon like him. But every time she draws near, he can’t help but wonder if he could open his heart and love again.
As the holidays come closer, the magic of Twilight starts to weave its spell…and soon it’s not just the competition that’s heating up, it’s the hot sizzle between Roan and Jazzy.

This book has everything I love in a book. Then you add that it's beautifully written and believable. It is easily a five star read. Written in dual POV my personal favorite this story flows so incredibly well that the next thing you know your 80% into the book and loving every second of it. The believable way the characters interact is perfect. Run, Hop, Jump or use your (1 click) finger to do whatever you have to do and get this amazing book. It'll break your heart, you'll want to scream with frustration and it'll let you discover that love just might conquer all. The chemistry is steamy and sweet and oh so romantic.

Thanks Netgally for letting me read and review.📚💕

The Cowboy Cookie Challenge is the thirteenth book in the Twilight,Texas series. This is such a fine series. I have really enjoyed the books I've read in this series. Twilight,Texas is a beautiful place that you will definitely want to visit.
A charming small town pediatric nurse Jazzy Walker meets Roan Sullivan when he brings his daughter in to be treated. Yes Roan is attracted to Jazzy but he's still grieving the loss of his wife, doing the single daddy thing to his 4 year old daughter and just happens to be ten years older than Jazzy.
I loved the daughter she has such a fun, mischievous personality.
Now not only is this guy good looking , he can bake too. Actually he's just won a baking competition and is encouraging Jazzy to enter the cookie baking contest with something that'll really catch their attention. I had never heard of baking cookies over a campfire, sounds like you need a special technique but it sounds like a sure fire winner to me.
I loved the slow burn relationship Jazzy and Roan had and seeing their characters develop.
This couple has quite the chemistry.
This is a wonderful series!

Roan Sullivan and Jazzy Walker do not make sense on paper. Roan, single widowed father of a four year old and Jazzy, pediatric nurse and perpetual optimist, but throw them together for a Cowboy cooking challenge and more than the sparks on the fire are going to burn.
Jazzy is determined to beat her nemesis finally, she's done with having Andi winning everything, including Jazzys high school boyfriend. Now she's given into the taunts and has to learn how to bake in less than a month. Only issue is that the award winning camp fire cook Roan wants nothing to do with baking. He gave all the glory and joy of baking up when his wife died. Yet saying no to Jazzy proves to be impossible and the attraction is too strong to fight. Once they succumb to temptation all the reasons they don't seem to fit come creeping back in, the age gap, dealing with parenthood and balancing the past with the potential for a magical future together. Sometimes you have to walk through the hardest times to end up with your forever.

I have to be perfectly honest. I was a little disappointed in this book. It is probably my fault, but I was expecting something a little different. I was expecting a feel good Christmas romance. It had Christmas and romance, but it lacked something and there was a little too much information in some of the scenes. Jazzy is in constant competition with Andi in every respect, including men. Roan is recently widowed, and has a 4 year old daughter who is under the care of Jazzy in her capacity as a nurse. I did not feel the attraction with Jazzy and Roan. The man is still in love with his deceased wife, and he is 10 years older than Jazzy (not saying you cannot love someone that is older or younger than you are). I just did not feel the sparks. Apparently from looking at other reviews, the majority enjoyed this book. Maybe I need to start from the beginning in Twilight, Texas so that I can more fully appreciate and understand the character dynamics. The cooking competition was interesting, and some of the character engagement was interesting as well. It will definitely make you want to either bake cookies or eat them!

Thank you to Harper Collins and NetGalley for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This is a Christmas cowboy story back in Twilight, Texas. Roan is a single dad who has reluctantly taken on the challenge of teaching Jazzy who to bake over a campfire. Jazzy has no idea what she's doing, but has entered the competition to hopefully finally best her long time nemesis (who recently stole her boyfriend).

This book has it all--Christmas, a baking cowboy, a woman who tries to take care of everyone, an adorable little girl and the reluctant hero. It was a really fun read with minor Christmas details to make it an even better story.

Thanks to Avon and Harper Voyager and NetGalley for the gifted copy. All thoughts are my own.

I requested this book from NetGalley because of the beautiful cover and because I read The Christmas Backup Plan, also written by Lori Wilde. This book was like reading a steamy Hallmark Christmas movie dialogue. I liked the story line of Roan and Jazzy, how they met, and how they overcame their past relationships to figure out if they could be together. Jazzy’s compassionate, energetic personality was perfect for taking Trinity, Roan’s daughter, under her wing, but she was also more forward when it came to pursuing Roan. The competitiveness between Andi and Jazzy was a little much at times, but humorous. Overall, this book is a romantic Christmas story that shows the importance of communicating when in a relationship, whether that relationship is friendship or more.

Although this was rather predictable, it was still very enjoyable to read. The heroine, Jazzy, is just wonderful. She’s good-hearted and loving, the perfect person to be a pediatric nurse in the hospital. Roan is still recovering from the sudden death of his wife. He’s devoted to raising his adorable daughter and doesn’t want to get involved with a woman, no matter how much he’s attracted to Jazzy.

She’s also attracted to the quiet, responsible father. He’s a cowboy and competition-winning campfire chef. I didn’t know that that was a thing. She asks him to help her prepare for a cookie-baking competition so she can defeat her nemesis who is engaged to her former boyfriend. The one weakness in the book was making Jazzy’s rival such a mean girl while Jazzy is such a sweetheart.

Of course, sparks are going to start flying as Roan and Jazzy practice baking over the campfire. And isn’t it convenient that Roan has a loving family ready to take his daughter off his hands whenever the time comes for him and Jazzy to get up close and personal? Babysitting always seems so much more available in romance novels than in real life.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from Netgalley; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.

#netgalleyarc This book is another one of those “I’ve read the rest of the series so I’ll just keep with it” books. Cute story, predictable and follows the “recipe.” Not bad but not amazing.

Jazzy and Roan are the latest couple in Twilight, Texas who are featured in this light-hearted, holiday romance. Jazzy, a pediatric nurse, treats single dad Roan’s daughter, Trinity. Roan is still trying to move forward from the loss of his wife while he was away at a cooking competition. He blames himself for not being able to prevent her death, but there is nothing he could have done. He wants nothing to do with competitions going forward.

Jazzy signs up for the Campfire Cookie Baking Contest and requests assistance from Roan. During their time together, they become closer and closer, helping each other through their own demons. The Cowboy Cookie Challenge has all the feelings one could hope for in a book. Overall, I would recommend this book for those looking for a light, sweet romance.
