Let me start by saying I ended up really liking this book! I could not put down the book once I got about half way through.
This book has So many topes. I don't think I have ever read a book with so many tropes before (brother's best friend, second chance romance, forced proximity, workplace romance, enemies to lovers, one bed). The beginning of the book felt like it didn't really have a plan on where it wanted to go. It took a little bit for Piper to catch her footing as a character for me. I think having so many tropes threw me as I didn't really know what this book wanted to be at first.
With the being said I loved the second half of this book. and could not put it down, I think it would have been a five star read for me if the beginning was as strong as the end. Piper and Sam's banter is top notch. It is so funny, I laughed out loud throughout the book and really enjoyed watching their relationship develop. The dual POV was fantastic and allowed me to really get to know both Sam and Piper. The Tension!!!!!!! Literally so good! The steamy scenes in this book are so well done and there is no shortage of them! I also loved all the side characters!
This was a super fun read and I really enjoyed it. Highly recommend because I ended up loving the characters so much and the humor is so good!

This was an ok read, it kept me interested just about most of the way through, there were one or two places where I lost the momentum of the read and the rhythm slowed.
But on the whole it was good.
I enjoyed the characters for the most part and they had a decent chemistry that helped the story tick along.
Thankyou to Netgally and the publisher’s for allowing me to read and review their book.

3.5 stars rounding up

There’s a lot going on in ‘Talk Flirty to Me’—much more than just a broke, down-on-her-luck Piper Bellini returning home and meeting a teenage ex- who’s suddenly the key in reviving her career as a voice actor.

In fact, ‘Talk Flirty to Me’ reads like a whirlwind of activity with one new thing stacked on top of another—with the horrifyingly large Bellini family taking centre space in the story. And with the number of events happening, it just seems obvious that everything is inevitably going to fall over like a house of cards…which it predictably does towards the second half of the book, with Sam and Piper being in the centre of the hurricane.

Yet as fun as it was at times, there were elements that seemed far-fetched, ridiculous (the extra, extra large family that’s still growing was just one I couldn’t get past) and frustrating (character-wise) which had the characters behave more like hormonal teens than mature adults. There was also much talk and action revolving around the past dictating one’s present actions and thoughts and for much of the story, the inability to move past it is what’s shown and reiterated.

In the case of characters, where Sam was overreaching, ambitious and earnest in all his pursuits, Piper seemed too cowardly and too soft in going for what she wanted in backtracking (and hiding too often behind sarcasm) too many times for me to like her enough. Having her actions explained away as being ‘self-sacrificial’ simply emphasised what I’d hoped to see more but never did: a lion-hearted sort of bravery that just didn’t materialise at all, because she tucked tail, pushed away and ran at every turn despite what her inner monologues seemed to say. That her behaviour was still largely regulated and governed by a teen breakup nearly a decade ago also felt somewhat petty and immature.

I’m still glad I picked this one up, or that I took a chance with this fun, very confident but very chaotic run of things by Livy Hart. What stood out were the snark of the supporting characters and several the outlandish set-pieces that were smart showcases of comedic timing—things that sort of helped outweigh and outpace the frustrations detailed above that I thought bogged the writing down a bit otherwise.

Talk flirty to me - Livy Hart

🎙 Piper Bellini is a voice actor who has been struggling to get a job, it’s been her dream to finally make it. She comes home to help her family. Being home comes with its complications though, namely an extremely hot firefighter ex boyfriend named Sam O’Shea.
They’ve known each other almost all their lives and Sam is Piper’s brother Caleb’s best friend.

✨ Piper is given the opportunity to get her dream job she can’t believe it, the only hiccup is that it’s a two person job and she needs a male partner to be the voice actor opposite hers... and its to read steamy lines for an erotic romance. Sam see’s this as the perfect chance to win back Piper’s trust.
They both have problems expressing themselves but they both truly love each other.

💖 A second chance love story. With the one bed trope. Let me tell you that enjoyed this story way too much. Loved all the characters. Steamy , sexy , funny. I devoured this book in less than 3 hours. The author did an excellent job with the plot and the characters which are very well developed. The writing is fluid. Not too long, we understand very quickly who is who, who does what. You have to know that it's also a slow burn story, so you have to be patient. But believe me. It’s worth it.

Two exes with a complicated history and the job opportunity of a lifetime. Piper Bellini is a voice actor who has been struggling to get a job, it’s been her dream to finally make it. When her mom is pregnant with another child Piper comes home to help her family. Being home comes with its complications though, namely an extremely hot firefighter ex boyfriend named Sam O’Shea. Sam and Piper had a horrible breakup with Sam thinking that two weeks before prom Piper had suddenly dumped him with no explanation and so he does what the only thing he can do to not feel hurt, he kisses her friend. Piper thought she was holding him back and asked for time, to go on a break, but apparently to Sam that meant breaking up, and the next thing she knows she finds him in a foggy car half naked kissing her friend when she goes to pick up her brother. That was years ago, and they both are still reeling from that disastrous event. Sam and Piper loved each other, though they never really said it, they’ve known each other almost all their lives and Sam is Piper’s brother Caleb’s best friend. Piper feels horrible about destroying the friendship between her brother and Sam despite not disliking Sam. But when she comes home she discovers that Sam and Caleb have reconciled and are still friends and that she’s the only one whose been left out of the loop. Sam wants to win back her trust so that he can maintain a friendship with her brother and because he is now running for mayor and wants her mother’s support for his campaign. When Piper is given the opportunity to get her dream job she can’t believe it, the only hiccup is that it’s a two person job and she needs a male partner to be the voice actor opposite hers... and its to read steamy lines for an erotic romance. Sam see’s this as the perfect chance to win back Piper’s trust and get her to ask her mom to endorse his campaign and Piper desperately needs Sam to help her win her dream job. They two strike a deal but then find themselves trapped together with unresolved feelings from the past and the same chemistry building between them as they read erotic lines to each other in a tiny studio... can they find romance a second time or will it end disastrously just like the first time? This was a pretty cute second chance romance story. Piper and Sam both have difficulty expressing their feelings for each other, Piper tends to over think and make decisions for others without telling them and Sam tends to focus on things that make him feel like he’s not as guilty and that he won’t have to truly face his feelings for her. Piper would rather hold back her feelings until they choke her then show them because she’s afraid. They both have problems expressing themselves but they both truly love each other. It was a cute and sweet read and I loved the one bed trope and the best friend’s sibling trope in this!

Livy Hart's romance debut was lit!
I started this baby last night and just finished.

Woah! I couldn't get enough of Piper and Sam.
Sam & Piper left me with the biggest smile on my face and their chemistry and back and forth was the best.
These characters and their story were complex.
And it captivated me from the start and never let go.
They were both realistic and smart and relatable.
The pace was pitched perfectly.
I honestly wanted this book to last forever!
Talk Flirty to Me is witty, swoony, and hella romantic.
The writing was so addictive and easy.
Absolutely adored this book!

Can Piper resit the temptation or will this end in a big disaster?

Hart is a new one and I can't wait to see where she goes in the future!

This book was hot, hot, hot with an extra touch of hot. TALK FLIRTY TO ME is a second-chance romance with all of our favorite scenes - injuries (cinnamon roll guy has to take care of her); one bed; brother's forbidden their romance; close proximity (reading explicit audio book scenes in a closet together) ...

TALK FLIRTY TO ME by Livy Hart was a fun, spicy and emotional read for me. I am a sucker for romances in which the timing, person, situation didn't work the first time around.

Sam, the firefighter running for mayor and Piper, the caretaker of her nine siblings while trying to launch her audio narrator career lead us through many trials and tribulations.

This book sucked up a big chunk of my weekend - a true sign that it was GOOD.

There were a couple of issues in the book I disagreed with: I couldn't figure out why Piper's brother was allowed to start his own family outside of the house instead of taking care of all the younger siblings like Piper was doing. I thought it wasn't fair to Piper and I think in real life, this would have become a bigger resentment than was portrayed in the book. At one point it was addressed, sort of, but there need to be a much bigger conversation than the one that was had.

I thought a lot of Sam and Piper's issues could have been solved with simple communication - yet, the plot needs a push and pull with a dash of misunderstanding.

However, I really liked how both characters had career goals in mind and wanted to help each other out in as many ways as possible.

Their chemistry was perfect and I enjoyed the two of them trying to rekindle their romance while dealing with all of the external issues.

I rate TALK FLIRTY TO ME four out of five stars.

What a book! I enjoyed this a lot more than I expected. I was nervous because this has been an anticipated read of mine but I had no reason to be. I enjoyed the main characters and their relationships with their family. Author does such a beautiful job curating these endearing and wonderful characters with seemingly real personalities and ambitions. This book was so heart wrenching, witty and honest!

Any who, I AM SO HONORED I GOT THE CHANCE TO READ THIS NOVEL. It hooked me immediately and I love how much we focused on all the side characters as well and the family dynamics/drama. I really enjoyed the storyline and wow my heart melted so many times. This was a second chance romance with dual pov, so if you are into that, then this is a must read.

I think this one even topped so many other contemporary romances for me this montj, and I can't wait to tell everyone to buy it when it's in stores or be annoyingly persistent about it when I’m at the library.

I adored all the characters and the atmosphere so much and I hope the author continues putting out more books like this!

3.5 stars — When former high school sweethearts with unresolved baggage team up to record a steamy audiobook, they're determined to keep things professional. But in a small town, their lives are hopelessly entangled, and resisting each other has never been their strong suit. In her debut novel, Livy Hart pulls out all the stops and tropes, from brother's best friend to only one bed, and adds some extra flair to keep it fresh. The first person narration alternates between the leads, and their voices are sharp and wisecracking without being obnoxious or cringe, which is a tricky balance. I rooted for them from the start, fell in love with the heroine's big boisterous family, and thoroughly enjoyed watching these hopeless romantics find their way back to each other. The perfect mix of funny, emotional, and sexy, Talk Flirty to Me is one of the bright romcoms of the season.

This story was sweet but a little chaotic. At its heart, this is a second chance love story, but there are so many other contributing plot points at play in this book that it detracts a little from the main focus. I liked the MCs and their relationship was sweet, but I almost felt like I never really got to KNOW them because of how much else was going on in the story. I struggle with the fact that they still feel so strongly about each other after going 7 years sight unseen, and they spend ALOT of time talking about high school for being in the mid/late twenties.

I definitely think the second half of the book was better than the first, but I was NOT prepared for how STEAMY it was. It was like once the flood gates opened they didn’t stop!

I was given an ARC of this book by NetGalley and Entangled Publishing. All opinions are my own.

This was a sweet and fun read filled with lots of the best tropes such as brother's best friend, only one bed and the injury trope. I loved how the slow burn romance was perfectly paced and helped to build the tension.
The dual POVs was also a bonus as I always enjoy being able to get to know both protagonists more in depth. I would definitely would recommend if you enjoy reading about chaotic family dynamics.

Overall, I would have liked more scenes of the two protagonists recording the audiobook but nevertheless i enjoyed this book and would read this author again.

Writing this review is tough, simply because there’s so much to say and so much I loved about Talk Flirty to Me that I don’t know where to start. I guess saying that I read it in about a day and could not bring myself to put it down is a good start.

I love Sam and Piper and the relationship they have with each other. The said-unsaid things, the tension. Oh my God, the tension - especially when they are in that booth - you could slice it with a knife. Their constant back and forth with Piper’s sharp sarcasm and Sam’s unrelenting teasing is positively entrapping, especially with their past and present mingling as they do. I squealed and smiled my way through the book, crossing fingers and hoping for them as the book progressed.

The intimate scenes are very well-placed and very well written, they don’t overshadow the story in any manner and don’t seem forced at all - there’s no awkwardness and there’s so much intensity to them. I had to stop to recover, in a good way.

What I really appreciate is how well-paced and realistic everything is, it’s easy to skip past the moments that really matter and build the relationship. It definitely doesn’t happen in this one. Another aspect of the writing that jumped out at me was how the character flaws are reinforced throughout the book and the resolution comes after a considerable build-up, it’s not sudden or undigestable. It’s satisfying to work with Piper as she works her way through her complicated and unbalanced take on love, and to see Sam build his vision and future.

And how could I write this review without mentioning the Bellini clan? They’ll make you wish you were part of their family with how beautifully chaotic and loving they are. The sibling drama is real and refreshing.

The writing is so engaging, it’ll make you feel like you’re right there with them and have known them for ages.

What a cute and funny novella! It was short and sweet and had me smiling the whole time. I loved that the story was light and drama free. The meet cute is wonderful and I thought the "get to know you" slow burn aspect of the book was great.

Worth a read if you like lots of flirtations in your contemporary romance, memorable but not too explicit love scenes, and likeable characters. This book also has dual perspective between both protagonists so if you like being in the heads of both the male and female mcs, this one is for you!

Will definitely keep an eye out for this in bookstores!
