I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thanks to Entangled and NetGalley for the ARC.

I wanted to love this book because the premise was so cute. However, that just wasn't the case. I found Piper exhausting and often annoying. There were very few moments that she didn't seem to be seething or angsting about something. Sometimes I =want my characters to pause and access what is happening in their lives, and I felt that never happened in this book. I see that a lot of people enjoyed this book, so I recommend that everyone give it a try. Maybe my issues won't be yours and you can enjoy the cute banter without the characters driving you batty. As for me, I will happily be putting this book behind me.

Second chance romance ✔️
Brothers best friend ✔️
Close proximity ✔️
Sharing 1 bed ✔️

This book checked all my trope boxes.. we’ll sort of, but it hit the good ones. I really enjoyed this book. Second chances don’t always work out in the end but for Sam and Piper it did. Although I throughout enjoyed this book, there were some things that bothered me — communication. Sometimes books will go so long without the main characters telling each other how they feel when it can save everyone so much trouble and that’s what happened. Piper was too stubborn to talk about the past (which was a slight misunderstanding) and Sam never realized why Piper did what she did until almost 90% into the book.

I will say the epilogue was prob one of my favorites and it sort of helped make up for lack of communication even though I would love to see what life is like for Piper and Sam down the line!

A second chance/enemies to lovers romance between Piper and Sam, who dated 7 years prior in high school. Piper returns to their hometown to help take care of her soon-expected sibling and Sam is a firefighter that's also running for mayor. I thought this book was SO cute! I wish some of the plot was further developed (like, why is there such a dirty race for mayor in a small town?? why was Piper shocked that a M/F casting wasn't going to be to read a romance novel?) but I was definitely rooting for Piper and Sam the entire time!

Overall... Thank god that her brother didn't do the audition with her.

"My eye is drawn to her the way it's drawn to flames in a hearth. You can't sit in a room with a fireplace and not acknowledge it or feel the ambient heat. Sometimes Piper spits pure fire, specially when she's talking to me. Other times, when I see her interacting with others like I did today at Catherine's party, it's something softer. Warmth."

I was casually perusing NetGalley when I saw this cute cover. Then I read the synopsis and I IMMEDIATELY knew I needed to read this.

A second chance romance where the two main characters have to narrate an erotic romance novel together?? Brother's best friend trope?? SIGN ME UP.

Growing up, Piper Bellini harbored a crush on Sam O'Shea, her brother's best friend. Once high school came around, they dated and it was all sunshine and rainbows until it wasn't. A misunderstanding occurs along the lines of "was it a break or a breakup," leaving the pair heartbroken as Sam went off to college. Fast forward to the present, years later, and you have lost communication and an awkward run in at a bar between the two. The lost years are made up for quickly as Sam and Piper find their lives snowballing together throughout the book in a variety of hilarious ways, some of which include a dunk tank and a paintball fight at a baby shower.

I loved Piper and Sam to bits! They were such a fun pair to read about. I'm a sucker for second chances romances with childhood friends-to-lovers energy. The sense of familiarity between two characters that have that history always makes a book extra special and I felt like the author knocked it out of the park!

I'm also a sucker for big families in books and I LOVED Piper's huge Italian family and their chaotic, fun dynamic.

Thank you to NetGalley, Entangled Publishing, and Livy Hart for the early copy of this book!

RATING: 4.75 out of 5

Talk Flirty to Me is a second-chance romance with the right amount of angst and passion. This may be Livy Hart's debut novel but it was so good and charming; written like a seasoned writer!

Piper is coming back home to help with her mom's pregnancy. This gives her time to reconnect with her family and focus on landing a deal for narrating audiobooks. She is also hoping to avoid her ex because she doesn't want to go through another heartbreak.

Sam is a local firefighter who is also running for mayor. He likes to be able to do more than one thing and is always busy. He learns his ex, Piper, is back in town and wants to clear the air. They meet up at a bar and he thinks it won't go so well. But the chemistry and witty banter are always present with them.

Sam and Piper are so fun to read about because their pull is so strong and you can cut the tension with a knife. I like how the author brings them back together with a project to narrate a steamy audiobook. It helps them open up little by little about their past and present feelings. There's so much history between them and the angst left me on the edge of my seat. The anticipation is so worth it.

I give Talk Flirty to Me 5 stars. As soon as I started reading, I was hooked. The characters and writing are both charming and seductive. I am looking forward to reading more by Livy Hart.

Talk Flirty to Me is too much fun! Definitely misleading with the cute cartoon cover but in the best way! (I was not expecting the book to be so HOT!)

Tropes: Second-chance romance, brother's best friend, some miscommunication (but quickly resolved), big family dynamics
Honestly, I'm not normally a big fan of second-chance romance but I enjoyed Piper and Sam's story. The fact that Sam is Piper's big brother's best friend also helped. This book was sweet and spicy (a lot spicy actually!) and I found myself fanning myself quite a lot throughout the story.
Piper and Sam's story is messy with a lot of hoops to jump through but it was a sweet, emotional, and fun ride! All the hiccups throughout the book (especially at the end) had me rooting for their relationship even more.
One more thing, I loved Livy Hart's references to different TV shows and books throughout! It added another layer of understanding to the characters' thoughts and feelings in a very light-hearted way.

This is a debut novel right? What a fabulous story! Another one that I just read in a day - love when this happens.
I loved the writing, the story, the complicated navigations of feelings, commitments, and family.
I loved how Sam and Piper were together, how they felt like an inevitability.
One small thing that bothers me (but it's a personal feeling) is part of the resolution of the conflict (I will not write it here to avoid spoilers, but you can read it on my Goodreads review).
But overall, I really really liked it and hope to read more from this author.

I'm not entirely sure how I feel about this yet. There are many things I liked and many that I didn't, but I can't deny that it was a very engaging read because I got through it in one sitting.

I think that a lot of things in the story were blown out of proportion and the female lead behaved very childish in certain instances, mainly holding a grudge against her ex for kissing a girl after she was the one who broke up with him. And despite the fact that it had been years since it happened. I would've understood if not a lot of time had passed but she sorta held that grudge for 7 years, while depriving her brother of his best friend because she got him in the break-up. More than that, I found it surprising that her parents held that grudge right alongside her, against a boy who had grown up in their home, who was considered an honorary member of the family before this.

But, moving on from that, I think what I liked the most were the last few chapters. A LOT of things go wrong, but I liked how the couple worked through them and learnt from their mistakes and tried to do better this time round. It was just so rewarding to see that.

Overall, it was a fun read and I enjoyed myself while reading it!

This second-chance-at-love debut novel is a fun and flirty read, with plenty of steam to boot. Piper, a voice actress trying to book that career boosting break, bumps into her former high-school first love, Sam. Their break-up was anything but smooth and has left scars for the both of them as well as her larger than life, lively and boisterous family (which gave me vibes like the large family in the film Return to Me). Piper has moved home to help take care of her younger siblings, as baby number 11 is along the way. Sam is trying to run for mayor. Sparks and spats fly as Piper and Sam try to figure out whether their second chance will give them the future they want.

Overall, I enjoyed the novel and was rooting for Piper and Sam all the way. I do think that they could have discussed the past a little more with each other. A lot of their introspection happened with inner monologue or other people, instead of with each other; and their hurts from the high school break up were not really discussed with each other, which then felt unresolved for me. Piper's relationship with her mom was also fairly complicated and their conflicts were also not resolved in a way that would be good for Piper's mental health.

But all that aside, this was a bright and sparkling romance full of beloved tropes (just one bed, brother's best friend, to name a few) and I look forward to further work from Livy Hart.

Piper wants to be an audiobook narrator. I adore audiobooks and enjoyed this opportunity to learn more about the behind-the-scenes aspects.

Sam was her high school sweetheart and her brother's best friends end. Their breakup was bad enough that the family stopped talking to Sam for years. But now, Piper has moved back to the Boston suburb of Roseborough, and Sam wants a favor. He is running for Mayor and wants her family's endorsement.

This book has all the tropes with brother's best friend, second chance romance, workplace romance, only one bed, and more. It was fun and angsty and sweet and scandalous in equal measure. In very different ways, Piper and Sam both struggled with their families. I would have liked to see more exploration of the family dynamics and resolution of issues. Overall, I found this an enjoyable, steamy romance.

Thank you to Entangled and NetGalley for the advanced reader copy. These opinions are my own.

3.5 stars rounded up

Piper is a voice actress who has returned back to her hometown to help her family. Only returning brings her ex boyfriend and brothers best friend Sam back into her life.
Sam is trying to get back into Pipers good graces so when she needs a male partner to audition for her dream job, he offers to help. Only he didn’t realize that if they get selected, he will have to read steamy lines for an erotic romance looking at her.
This was a fun second chance romance. I enjoyed the banter and the chemistry between Sam and Piper and I really liked Pipers huge family dynamics. It was a cute and sweet read, a perfect vacation read.

An exhausting read, to be honest. The pace is so frenetic, with characters and plot lines and unrelenting disasters stacking on top of each other that there's no time for the reader to relax and take a breather and absorb the story. There's also not time to dig deep into the character's backstories to really understand their motivations or their history. The banter is cute, but it's also somewhat immature, especially on Piper's end, and it avoids actual communication which she and Sam (and frankly all of Piper's family) need. I didn't feel like their major issues were really addressed by the end of the story or that they'd be able to learn from their past mistakes. Livy Hart has a good voice, but less is more in terms of plot elements for this story.

Lastly, would Sam really be able to just become a voice actor with no training at all? Would Piper not know anyone in the audiobook community that she could partner with? Would she not anticipate the possibility of reading romance at all? This all stretched believability for me.

While I wouldn’t call this a “bad” contemporary romance, for me this one missed the mark in a lot of ways. The overall premise was cute. The “forced proximity” trope combined with “former flame” could have been a very fun plot. However, those don’t really become the focus in any meaningful way all the while too many subplots try and play out. The chemistry between the characters didn’t feel very compelling, I honestly can’t imagine that these two would actually wind up back together. Anyone who holds a grudge over a high school romance for that long is a walking red flag (never mind that the entire dysfunctional and horrible family gets in on the action!). The banter hit my personal pet peeve of just being immature sniping, the idea that this family has 11 kids by relying on the unpaid labor of a singular older daughter gave me hives and frankly, no one in this town seems even a little likable. However, this seems to be a minority opinion based on other reviewsI will apply the disclaimer that my literary part peeves might not be yours.

Talk Flirty to Me was a great afternoon read! The pacing was beautifully done, and the characters were well rounded, relatable and engaging. Piper and Sam have a great chemistry that sizzles off the page, and you're invested in what happens next from the very first page.

Piper is a voice actress who has returned to her small town to help her mother with baby number 11 where her ex boyfriend Sam is now her brother’s best friend.

Sam is a firefighter who wants to run for mayor and although he’s friends with Piper’s brother Caleb, he’s well aware that she and the rest of her family are still angry with him about their high school breakup. Neither one of them accepts responsibility for their misunderstanding.

I’m not sure why Sam wants to get back into Piper’s good graces given how hostile she is in the beginning and I also had trouble believing a novice could pass as a believable voice actor and that Piper never considered “m/f narration” might mean the genre was a romance. They don’t start recording until the book is half over and I didn’t feel like there was any chemistry built up between them.

I didn’t realize this was a second chance romance since “brother’s best friend who I hate” was hinted at in the description. Second chance isn’t my favorite trope and I might not have picked this book if I had known the couple broke up in high school seven years before.

There’s a lot of sharpness and wisecracking and it reads more like a romp. It’s fitting to Piper’s behavior and the chaos in both her and Sam’s lives. As a twenty-something she seemed to still be obsessed by a high school breakup and it made her seem immature. Both characters are too wrapped up in their families and their families expectations.

This is fast paced, but I never connected with the characters with all the chaos surrounding them.

When I say wow. I mean it. I finished this book so fast and definitely sacrificed sleep to read this. Sam and Piper are such fun characters to read. The pacing of this book was perfect and there were times where my face turned red because of spice and then laughter. Very well done. I will be recommending this to everyone!

3.5 stars. I enjoyed this a lot! The start was a bit rocky and slow but then I couldn’t stop reading because Piper and Sam’s chemistry were sooo good. I like their banters and their character development. At first, I thought the reason for their problem was childish but after I finished the book, I think it suits Piper’s character and their past (young?) way of thinking.

Caleb’s character was good too. I like how he has an actual valid reason as to why he’s against the idea of Piper and Sam being together and not just the angry brother. I didn’t really like the pop culture references and I wasn’t able to care for the other characters as much as I wanted to. Overall, this was a good and short read!

This book was amazing! As soon as I read that the hero and heroine have to narrate an erotic romance I quickly requested this on Netgalley! This book totally lived up to my expectations and more!
This is a second chance romance and I like that the characters have all that backstory and chemistry between them. I loved how Sam fits in with piper’s family. It was sweet reading how he interacts with her younger brothers.
I also loved the steamy aspects to this book! I couldn’t get over the scenes where the two of them are narrating the erotic romance book! It was so funny how the two of them would get hot and bothered over it.

Read if you like:
Dual POVs
Second chance romance
Only one bed
Firefighter hero
Open door romance
Brother’s best friend

This was such a fun, swoony read! The story moves fast, and I had to stop myself from reading it in one sitting. I loved Piper and Sam's second chance romance. They had amazing banter and chemistry! Piper was so sarcastic and funny, and Sam was simply adorable. What really set this story apart for me was the massive, lovable, chaotic family. The sibling dynamics were spot on, and Piper's parents (and Nonna!) filled out this warm, lovely world. Recommend for anyone who loves laugh-out-loud romcoms, steamy second chance love stories, and sweet family stories.

Piper Bellini wants to make it big as a voice actress. When her dream job holds open auditions she has to quickly find a male partner to record with her. Piper’s ex-boyfriend and her brother’s best friend Sam offers to help her out.

There are so many tropes in this book but somehow they all work together harmoniously -
Second chance romance
Highschool ex-boyfriend
Brother’s best friend
Gorgeous firefighter (Mr. February!)
Main male character is running for office (mayor)

Talk Flirty to Me is a delightful mix of sweet and spicy. The characters are written in such a relatable way. Both Piper and Sam want to gain independence from their intrusive families and do something for themselves. The storyline is fast-paced making this a great beach read/vacation book.

I look forward to reading more of the author Livy Hart’s work in the future.
