This was a great second chance romance! Sam and Piper were once high school sweethearts. She needed a break. He heard break UP. It's been six years. Piper is back in town to help her family out since Mama Bellini is popping out kid #11. But she's also giving her dream of being a voice artist one last chance before she switching gears. The last, the absolute last, person Piper expected to help her out was Sam. Why??? He had his own agenda that had something to do with running for mayor. But really, he wanted redemption from the biggest faux pas of thinking he and Piper broke up.

The characters were full of banter, humor, and lots of awkward moments. The little ones always steal the show (hello, Nova!). Working together narrating an audiobook (love the nod to the beautiful world of audio) led PIper and Sam to hashing out past hurts, redeeming current misunderstandings, and figuring out that their dream of the future really did include each other.

Now she is back home helping her family during her mother’s pregnancy and trying to make it as a voice actress with all of the family chaos. But Piper needs a partner for her dream audition, but Sam volunteers to help her around working as a fire fighter and running for mayor.

I liked the second chance romance mixed with best friend’s little sister romance in Talk Flirty to Me because I loved the chaos of the Bellini household, and they were still able to flirt with each other especially the recording sessions.

This was a funny romcom about a couple that broke up in high school over a misunderstanding. When events put them in the same town again, they have to finally face that break up. Then they start working together on recording an audiobook and lots of craziness ensues. It was cute.

This was such a fun rom-com! I loved the characters and this second chance romance was such a fun and quick read.

This is a second chance romance between enemies to lovers with some forced proximity and brother's best friend trope mixed in. Plus only one bed!
Piper is such a relatable character. I felt her struggle as I'm sure many of us have been in her position (struggling to get our careers off the ground). I liked that she was willing to push aside her pride and ask for the help she needed in order to achieve her dream. And that's where Sam comes into the story. Sam is her ex from high school who, to Piper's dismay, now a sexy firefighter; oh and he's running for mayor.
Sam and Piper have fantastic banter and can act like five-year olds but it made the story funny and entertaining. I was never bored or annoyed with the characters.
The writing is great too; I never would've guessed this is a debut novel!
Hart has struck gold with Talk Flirty to Me and I cannot wait to read her future stories.

Unfortunately, this book wasn’t for me. I wasn’t invested in the romance at all. It felt like the only reason the main to characters got back together because they started to do the audiobook together. And when that wasn’t going well, they couldn’t even talk to each other. I didn’t feel the connection between them at all. It had heat but no heart.

This book was hard to back up and very easy to put down.

Talk Flirty to Me is a second chance at love, between Sam O’Shea and Piper Belllini who were once teenage sweethearts. Yet a misunderstanding, torn not only their relationship apart, but caused a rift in the friendship between Sam and Piper’s brother, as well as the Bellini family. When Piper returns home to help her parents, she finds that Sam is everywhere. He is now a firefighter and is running for mayor. Yet when Piper needs his help to secure an opportunity that will help her voice acting dreams, Sam is ready to help, even if it is to be the lead, reading through an erotic novel. Soon, things start to become quite intense, and they must face their past if they are to have any future together.
Sam is such a great character who is steadfast, sweet and utterly captivated by Piper. Piper tries to be everything to everyone, so it made perfect sense for these two to be together. An easy read from start to finish.

I abandoned this about 20% in. I liked the concept but the execution of the story just wasn’t doing it for me. The dialogue was meh, and the big family and everything else going on was chaotic and distracting.

AH this was so good???? 4/5 stars from me. We need to talk about the chemistry between our two main characters because WOO. I can’t wait to read more from this author.

This book was, in a word, frustrating. I seriously considered DNFing, & I probably should have, but the sunk cost fallacy got me.

This felt like a first draft by a young and/or unpracticed writer. I know it’s a debut, but where was the editor? It had a tendency to use five words when one would do, & overused belabored similes—especially in Piper’s point-of-view. Sam’s narration seemed a little more polished, perhaps because he wasn’t quite so in-his-head as Piper was. The premise sounded so steamy—recording sexy audiobooks together!—but we don’t actually get to see many of their lines on-the-page, just a lot of summarization. In fact, there was a lot of telling instead of showing in this novel.

The characters themselves were also pretty immature, though they were supposed to be in their mid-twenties. So much melodrama! I hate the whole self-sacrificing, letting him go so he can get what he deserves without actually talking to him about it nonsense. I’ll give Piper a pass when she was in high school, but she’s still pulling that crap at 24! Sam wasn’t any better at using his words. I actually do like the misunderstanding trope, but this dragged on way too long—especially considering it actually started 7 years earlier.

There wasn’t a lot of development of secondary characters, but the ones that did feature more prominently (namely Piper’s mom and her brother/Sam’s best friend, Caleb) were kind of annoying. Caleb didn’t say anything when they were in high school and it could’ve saved everyone a lot of pain and trouble, but now he wants to stick his nose in all over the place when they’re adults and it’s none of his business.

Piper’s mom parentified Piper, as the only daughter, to care for her 9 (!) brothers. For a hot second, it looked like Piper was going to take an abrupt turn into standing up for herself, but that quickly devolved back into “Mom does everything for this family” (literally show me where??). I did love her Nonna & dad, who both offered some sage bits of wisdom & actually seemed to care about Piper living her own life.

Things did improve slightly when Piper & Sam actually started using their words instead of just falling into bed without talking about any of their issues, but it was too little too late. There were a few funny bits & some steamy lines (though the sex scenes were beset by the same writing problems as the rest). The bones of a good story were there, but it needed a LOT more work.

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started Talk Flirty To Me - I was drawn in by the description and cover art (I’m a sucker for a gorgeous cover). What I got was a really great romance read featuring so many tropes/elements I enjoy, including:

Piper and Sam were both great characters- I loved the alternating POV so we could see the thoughts, wishes, and hopes going on with each. I liked that they both had separate goals and how they had to find a way to each other and to incorporate one another. The two also had great chemistry and banter.

The Bellini gang was a fun, chaotic mess - I especially loved Nonna 😊 Hard to keep track of, but that was kind of the point and true to life. I definitely felt for Piper as she was helping and supporting her family.

Another highlight for me had to be Piper’s job - I’ve never read a story with an audiobook narrator job, so fun! I thought the pacing of the story was good, I kept turning pages and whipped through it really fast. I appreciated the sprinkle of well placed pop culture references - the Friends reference in particular was spot on 😂

Overall, I really enjoyed my read and was satisfied with the ending too - definitely recommend for fans of the tropes.

🔥 Open door, steamy

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It had enough of the familiar plot beats of a romance to be familiar and comforting, but enough that was new to keep it feeling fresh. I'm already looking up more Livy Hart titles.

Piper is forced to move back home to her parents' house with her nine brothers when she runs into her ex-boyfriend, Sam. She's struggling to make a name for herself in the audio narrator world, while he's a firefighter and running for mayor. An awkward encounter at the bar makes for a doubly-weird run-in when he shows up for family dinner the next day. When they broke up seven years prior, it wasn't just their relationship that suffered - Sam was her brother's best friend and he was closer to her entire family than he was his own. Now that he needs her mother's endorsement for his mayoral run, he's looking to ease back into her life and mend fences. When the perfect opportunity to audition for the biggest producers in audio content comes her way, Piper convinces Sam to be her partner. But when they get the job, and it turns out it is for some very steamy romance, spending time together and reading the material drag up a lot of feelings that they've done their best to keep buried. And you have to ask yourself why they didn't work out the first time and if they can make a real go of it this time around?

Talk Flirty to Me was such a treat to read. It reminded me (in the best way) of Christina Lauren's Love and Other Words with the second-chance romance. But there were also so many hilarious moments in here too to help balance out the emotional weight of Piper and Sam's mutual yearning. Her brothers and grandmother were too funny, and her best friend also cracked me up.

this book was an absolute delight from page one. i love a good dual-pov adult rom-com, and talk flirty to me DELIVERED from the very first page. (can we talk about that title though? it's perfect!)

as you can probably guess, chaos (by which i of course mean romance) ensues.

this book has it all: great banter, fantastic chemistry, a cocktail of some of my favorite tropes (second chance romance? only one bed?), and dual-pov (THE MAN FALLS FIRST!)

overall, i adored this book. it definitely was super fun to read, and i highly recommend it to fans of adult rom-coms.

Sam and Piper are both so wonderful, and I absolutely fell in love with them both, and their love, but it wasn’t just them. I loved the entire Bellinis family.

Based on the blurb, I expected a “brother’s best friend” romance, which it was, but more than anything it was a “second chance at love” story. Those are usually hit and miss for me, personally. But this was definitely a hit.

I loved the aspect of narrating an audio book - and on a side note, I’d read the book they were recording without hesitation.

What do you do when your first love and heartbreak walks back into your life after seven years? Sam O'Shay has been in Pipers life forever. Her brothers best friend and her first love. Every childhood memory is wrapped up in him along with her first heartbreak. Fueled by hurt and anger Piper has held onto a grudge against Sam for seven long years. So no one is more frustrated and surprised then her when she has to make a deal with the devil ; to make her dreams come true to audition for a coveted job narrating an audio book. It is after all the break she has been waiting for. Sam agrees to help Piper but things get heated when they find out the book is an erotic romance. Off the charts chemistry fan the flames of a love that was never really lost. Sam is seriously amazing and my new book boyfriend. Piper made me want to scream and drove me crazy at times. Isn't that the what your looking for in a great book? One that can bring forth all kinds of emotions. I was all the way in from the very first page. I loved the family dynamics in the Bellini household. Caleb and Sam had a remarkable friendship, we all want that one person who understands us. Think of your favorite rom-com you can watch a million times and it never gets old. That is what this feels like. An old favorite that I will get to enjoy reading over and over.

The cover immediately drew me in! It's so vibrant and cute.

This book was short, sweet, steamy and full of all the best tropes: Small Town, brothers best friend, second chances, one bed 🤭 The Stroyline was unique and had me laughing at the situation they found themselves in. And that chemistry though 👀 Was this book cheesy? Yeah, but it was also enjoyable! Fans of funny, steamy rom-coms will definitely enjoy this one.

This is such a cute cute book! I adored it! Such god chemistry ! Great plot! Second chance romance and steamy

This is a debut novel that you don’t want to miss! It has everything you could want in a rom com; hilarious laugh out loud moments, a perfect amount of steam (IMO), and just a few parts that pulled at my heartstrings. I tend to think all second chance romances are somewhat sad even if they aren’t angsty books, and this one definitely hit me in the feels seeing how much Piper and Sam loved each other and all the time they wasted not being together.

As far as book boyfriends go, it doesn’t get much better than Sam! He’s a funny firefighter who wants to do do good for everyone. Piper is also pretty great and I love how big her heart was under her tough exterior. She has a huge family that plays a very big part on her life, and I could totally relate to her part in the family as the oldest sister. One of my favorite parts of the book was the voice acting that Piper and Sam do together for an audio book. It’s something I’ve never read before and I felt like I had an inside look at how that all works! Plus, the tension and chemistry was just 🔥

There were only a couple things I thought needed to be finished out a little more (issues with Piper and her family and her not opening up to Sam about why they split up in the past) but otherwise it is beautifully written and had a perfect epilogue that had me in tears with how sweet it was!

This was so promising. I liked how their relationship builds up, but it dragged too much. Good, but I didn't love it.
