Funny enough though it relies on a pretty low brand of humor. It's a bit dumb but doesn't take itself too seriously. Akin to the How to Train Your Dragon book series in that regard.

Great book for young and older readers alike. The authors imagination and humor comes across loud and clear. The adventures of the Quest Kids is riddled with funny twists and turns, making this an enjoyable and fast paced read.

Quest Kids and the Dragon Pants of Gold by Mark Leiknes is an engaging, beautiful, hilarious graphic novel.

I received an electronic ARC from Union Square Kids through NetGalley.
Major quests, adventure, misfits - what more do you need to launch a series. Leiknes offers readers a chance to travel with four kids from different species and their pet (dog/pig?) They form a unit and have learned through five prior unsuccessful quests. These are referred to early on and happened before the book begins. The characters are likeable in their quirkiness. Readers will see themselves in them and feel they have joined the team. A delightful opening to introduce these characters and their tasks. Looking forward to seeing their adventures unfold in future stories.

This book is fast paced and entertaining but I found the constant use of the word “super” and the additional side comments a little distracting. I also prefer that words are spelt correctly and not abbreviated for this age group. I am sure it will appeal to a certain audience. I am sorry it is not for me. I thank you for allowing me the chance to read it.

We really should have been told this was a sample, containing only a third of this book - if that,.

What I saw was not great, anyway - the scratchy, unappealing art was an unwelcome interruption to the narrative as opposed to a quippy bit of Wimpy Kid-styled content, and I wanted a book that had the confidence in its prose to just give us that, and not illustrate previous irrelevancies that just made me think this was a sequel. I mean, some of the cartoons weren't even at the right place, or just repeated something we'd already seen. Poorly done by all involved.

Quest Kids and the Dragon Pants of Gold by Mark Leiknes

I love that graphic novels are all the rage right now. My ten year was a reluctant reader and graphic novels are what finally got her started. This particular one is about three 11 year olds (a rock troll, a wizard’s apprentice and a farmer boy) and a 700 year old elf that looks 11. They are the Quest Kids, they have never actually been on a real quest but they have just been hired for one.

Silly, fun, and full of humor, I know it will be a hit for my child and I’m sure many others. This ends on a cliff hanger so I’m sure it’s the start of a series. Can’t wait to see the rest.

My 6 year old son and I have been reading a few chapters a night of this chapter book. This has been a huge hit with him and he loves the premise of a dragon needing gold pants and kids trying to take them. This is a story around kids going on a questing adventure. The pictures are fun to look at and had kid level humor. As an adult I loved the mix media of story and comic book style. It helped break up the story and stopped it feeling repetitive. My only criticism is the number of times the word quest or questing is used. It felt like it was every other word and drove me a bit batty reading aloud. However I found I'd just skip the word as we got further in.

Great chapter book for early readers, 4 stars.

A story about a group of misfit kids (most of whom aren't human of course) who go on quests "for a living". Their first real quest involves a dragon.

I liked the various characters but I found myself getting distracted by the randomly bolded words. At first I thought it might be newer vocab but then the name Jennifer was bold. There was also no explanation for it at the end of the book.

***....and it's a translated book!!!!

A fun, laugh out loud read with fun illustrations and witty presentation!

If you love The Diary of a Wimpy Kid series like me , you will love this book! And it's a whole new level I tell you.

Moreover, it has dragons and other mysterious creatures. What can beat this?!

The storytelling is refreshing, the writing is fun and entertaining; the characters are lively and memorable. Exactly a fun beginner book for the young readers. Love Ned, Ash and Gil. And Ash is so cute.

Yes, we all will need the next book when this one comes out.

Thank you, Union Square Kids, for the advance reading copy.
