Nailbiting thriller. Could not stop reading. Get ready for the surprise twist at the end. My kind of book I hope the author writes more. Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for providing this ARC for me

I loved this book! So many good twists but the final one I truly did not see coming. I didn’t love Nina but I honestly feel that may have been intentional. All the characters were well developed and the story unfolded in a way that kept me turning pages!

The Housemaid by Freida McFadden, narrated by Lauryn Allman.

This is my first book by Freida McFadden and it certainly won't be my last! I found it to be a very entertaining thriller. She had my attention from the very first chapter. The narrator did an excellent job of keeping the suspense going. The author was skillful in developing a gripping plot from the points of view of Nina and Millie.

Thank you to #NetGalley, #BookoutureAudio and #Freida McFadden for an audio-ARC in exchange for my honest review.

The Housemaid by Freida McFadden

Nina Winchester is married to Andy Winchester they are a wealthy couple. Nina decides she needs help around the house do chores like cleaning and assistance caring for her daughter so she hires Millie to come in the house to do the work.

The story is told in two sections from section one it is told by Millie's perception and section two is told by Nina Winchester's perception. All I got to say nothing is happening right in the Winchester home. This domestic thriller will keep you flipping the pages it was really good book.

I was stunned when I got to section two and the story truly unfolded it and it changed my feelings towards one of the Winchester's. Evil can be behind a beautiful set of eyes and a smile of kindness. Sometimes you need to beware of the prickles you feel because most likely you are right. Not everyone is as awesome as the appear.

I highly recommend this book if you like domestic thrillers or just a good thriller. You will have to suspend belief a little bit but sometimes people are that mentally sick and weird stuff happens even though we cannot fathom those things ourselves does not mean someone else can fathom them and proceed to do exactly what their sick twisted mind comes up with.

The narration was spot on.

Thank you to Netgalley for an opportunity to read this book for an honest review.

Actually I requested the audio version through NetGalley by mistake and was declined by the digital book request so I bought it through Amazon because the description sounded interesting and a must read. Glad I did. What a page turner and compelling read. The author’s writing style grabs you from the first sentence till the last word. The “maid”, I mean “housekeeper”, was the perfect weekend read. Thank you NetGalley for the introduction to this crazy read. (Repeat - I did not listen to the audio but I wanted to rate the read since I was provided the audio version.)

Wow - Freida McFadden has managed to take a storyline I've seen before and turn it into something completely unique and shocking. This is full of female empowerment and shows how desperate you can get when you're in a domestic abuse situation. This was full of surprises and kept me guessing the whole time I listened. I was completely enamored by the main characters despite my lack of trust for all of them. I loved how this was broken into 3 parts and shows the story from multiple POVs and jumps back and forth between the present and past. This was so entertaining and one of the best thrillers I've read this year. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is my first time reading something by this author so I didn't know what to expect. This is a breathtaking, suspenseful novel that is quite the page-turner and had me on the edge of my seat. Millie is desperate for a job so she can stop living in her car and maybe have an actual bed to sleep in. With her background, she was afraid she might be turned down, but she ends up landing a job as a housemaid at the Winchesters, and can't believe her good fortune. She'll do anything to keep her job, even put up with her boss Nina's erratic and delusional behavior. It doesn't take long for her to realize there is something strange going on with the family.
The story definitely had me wondering what was going on, especially when Part 2 came up. Seeing both points of view, it made the story even more interesting and deepened the mystery. The story pulled me in and I was engrossed till the end. Plenty of suspense and intrigue kept me interested and intrigued to see what would happen next. The unique plot made this a very suspenseful and interesting read.
I received this ARC as an audiobook and I think the narrator did a great job of differentiating the characters and bringing the story to life.
I enjoyed the story and would love to explore more by this author.

Thank you Bookouture Audio, Ms. McFadden, and Netgalley for providing a complimentary copy. This is my voluntary and honest opinion.

Thank you NetGalley for the audio copy in exchange for a honest review. This is Freida McFadden at her absolute best! After a spell in prison Millie lands what she thinks is her dream job as housemaid to wealthy Nina Winchester and her handsome husband Andrew. She lives in a tiny room in the attic of their grand house. Millie soon realises their marriage is not a happy one and she falls for Andrew. A great read full of resists and turns.

Listen to this Audio book in a day , It has just what I like in a psychological thriller and some great twists and turns

I love a good twisty, turny, psychological thriller, and The Housemaid certainly didn't disappoint. I don't like to say much about books that are advertised as having a twist, because much as I like them, I don't really like to know if a book has a huge plot twist, because then I'm constantly trying to guess what the twist will be. And if I'd first seen this advertised on Amazon as it was - "The Housemaid: An absolutely addictive psychological thriller with a jaw-dropping twist" - I mean it was right there in the title! - I probably wouldn't have given it a try. (I'm sure that type of titling works for some people, I'm just not one of them.) Happily that's not how it was titled when I saw it offered on Netgalley so I gave it a try, and I'm really happy I did. It definitely kept me engaged and guessing and gave me a few surprises.
I mostly listened to this one, and the narration was very good - Lauryn Allman did an excellent job of giving Millie (the housemaid) and Nina (her employer) distinctly different voices.
And that's about all I can say without giving away too much. Enjoy!
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for providing a digital copies of both the ebook and the audiobook for an unbiased review.

The audio was very well done with a full cast and very entertaining. Millie, the main character currently living out of her car with no job, and just out of prison applies to be the housekeeper for a very wealthy family. The family consists of Nina, her husband Andrew, and their daughter Ceecee. It seems too good to be true, a great salary and a place to live even if it is in a creepy attic with a tiny window. After getting the job Millie soon realizes Nina is a massive slob, entitled, possibly mentally unstable and very manipulative. The daughter, nine-year-old Cecilia is a brat. She does her best to keep her cool, be mendable to the family so she can keep her job. But Millie has her own secrets she can't let them find out about. With a crush on the husband and a strong dislike for Nina what can happen? I really enjoyed the plot, but was somewhat let done by the ending as it all hinged on one relationship that comes up from the past. It is somewhat overdone and unbelievable. 3.5 stars overall rounded up. Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of this book.

Millie Calloway has been hired as a housekeeper. She was currently living in her car due to losing her previous job, so when Nina Winchester, a disagreeable and delusional stay-at-home mother, offered her the role, she accepted immediately.

Part of Nina's household held Cece Winchester, her impolite and spoilt daughter and Andrew Winchester, her handsome, kind and understanding husband. During the first few days and weeks working there, it was Andrew that made the difficulties thrust upon her worthwhile.

When the innocent flirting begins with Andrew, both taking solace from the behaviours of Nina and Cece, Millie feels sorry for this lonely, compassionate man. She knows that she has crossed a line, just not the one she believed.

I didn't know if I was genuinely enjoying this psychological thriller. What I did know was I was compelled to continue reading it. Millie annoyed me and had me shouting at her gullibility at times, but the story kept my attention until the surprise ending. Cleverly written with great twists.

This was my first Freida McFadden novel, and I look forward to trying others in her back catalogue.

I would like to thank #NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for the opportunity of reading this advanced copy in exchange for my own honest review. This book was due for release on April 26th 2022.

This is the first book I listen or read from this author and it didn’t disappointed me. This book was a combination of mystery and thriller and it had enough twists that I really didn't know which character to believe or trust. The only downside is my opinion was that the main character Millie, made some pour decisions that were not believable.. Overall I’ve really enjoyed it and look forward to the author’s next book.

Wow, wow, wow. I loved this audiobook!! It was fast-paced, interesting, believable and shocking! The characters were fabulous. I started off thinking it was the usual maid falling for the husband of the house but it was so much more than that! A really good listen.

I enjoy listening to audiobooks during the daily commute or whilst doing general taks/walking etc. I found this to be a good listen. It taps into the isolated house with all the mystery and secrets behind the walls which I always have a secret soft spot for. This was a good mystery, well narrated, and with a good twisty ending.
