I really enjoyed this book! The step by step through the months is helpful, and the illustrations are cute and the cover is very nice!

As an avid gardener myself I enjoyed re-learning what I forgot, refreshing my memory on things I already do and finding new tips and tricks to use on my garden and every day habits. It is for a broad and generalized spectrum but can be utilized quite easily throughout different zones and climates. This will be one I personally reflect on and go back to throughout the year!

This book is both helpful and informative. I am a beginning and pretty much inexperienced gardener. I learned quite a bit and use it as a reference.

I have no idea what's in the book, but the format of this review copy is worthless. Publisher should be a little less paranoid. My goal is to help writers; I'm not trying to sabotage them. Try re-sending the file in a simple, durable format that will remain readable until its turn in the reading queue comes up. This computer works well with PDF; why not use that? a;sldkfjghfjdksljd;lsjhgddsjkldfjdhgdh;ad;jlfjgghahsdldjlgkhahdg;ajdl;gjlagahdshhkljdhlagkhksdhdkj;hdklhadkhflhahg;hdgkdh;ahgkdhlgha;hd;kgh;h;akhfd;ghgfhf;hf;gahkfha;dhkfh;h;fh;kahfgkg;fhka;hg;kfh;hfk;jl;fjdldajflhgdk;fajldsj'

This book was such a well articulated book with a lot of visuals for people who forget easily.
The doodle format of illustration is especially adorable.

I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. This book is excellent if you are a gardener or learning to become one. There is a lot of information on when to plant gardens, and vegetables, and how to take care of your houseplants.

This month-to-month guide for gardening is packed with information. The first part of the book is separated by months, giving tips about what you can do each month to have your garden go smoothly. The second part has tables. Tables 1-3 are about soils and additives that can be used. There is also a table about when to plant and sow vegetables. And tables for the different types of trees that can be used in your garden and yard. This book is packed with information. I would hand this off to someone who is a gardener and looking to expand their space or their vegetation. I’m a recent gardener and I think it’s a bit too much information for me, but it is a great resource. The monthly section is great with over 1000 tips spread throughout the year. And the tables have a lot of information on different issues from planting to pests.

Beautifully illustrated and very detailed. This book offers many tips and tricks for having a bountiful garden year round. It includes daily and monthly advice, as well as optimal times for when things should be done and when certain plants thrive best, as well as a sort of schedule to keep yourself on track.

There are many technical illustrations throughout the book and they are quite in depth, so they add to the written instruction provided.

I think that, as a visual person, some real pictures may have been beneficial, although I do see how the illustrations alone fit the style of the book.

This is an awesome resource, containing a wealth of knowledge. It would be perfect for the beginner gardener to get a good understanding of gardening, but is also not overly simplified that an experienced gardener would also find it useful.

At the back of the book there are several detailed tables about crop rotation, soil pH, diseases, and even different types vegetables and flowers with information on how to plant them, their specific needs, and even some scientific information such as latin names and species and varieties.

This is a great book for people who want to know everything to do year round in the garden. The book is written by month and gives numbered tips for each month. The back of the book is full of awesome charts, graphs, etc that will help you make decisions about your garden. It's nice to have this in quick access form. I wish this book had been around when I was first starting to garden.

If you are an experienced gardener, you most likely do not need this book, but I would be you will learn a few things from it. Plus it gives you a plan to follow since it's set up by month.

I would recommend this book for beginners and experienced gardeners alike.

The Month-by-Month Gardening Guide has lots of helpful tips for both experienced and novice gardeners, with me being in the latter category. It covers a wide range of topics, including indoor and outdoor plants and flowers, and vegetable and herbs. The book is illustrated, rather than having photographs. I didn't find that a problem, since it's not meant as a how-to book. While the month-to-month to-do items were helpful, I found I got more use of the book by looking for specific items in the index and going directly to those tips and instructions. As such, I would not recommend purchasing this in an electronic format. I found that too cumbersome to navigate quickly.
Overall, I found the book helpful, and have purchased a hard copy to help me grow in my gardening skills.

Thank you to NetGalley and Timber Press for sending me a free ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The Month-by-Month Gardening Guide was first published in Germany in 1964. This is the 30th edition of the book and translated into English for the first time. Overall, I can see how this book was so beloved in Germany to now have it translated into English: there is a wealth of information and a lot of fantastic tips from someone clearly knowledgeable in their field. However, most of the advice is limited to that specific growing region and there are no tips on adapting information to your local conditions.

My favorite part of this book was the layout: dividing everything by season, month, and then type of activity (such as vegetables, ornamentals, and general gardening tasks) makes any gardening book much easier to reference. I also found the tables in the second part to be particularly helpful, especially since that information (such as seed viability) is more “universal”.

However, I wish this edition had spent more time adapting the text to a new audience rather than maintaining the precise information of the original. Timber Press is based in my state of Oregon, so I was hoping for a book that was more applicable to my gardening region. Instead, I found a lot of date-specific tips (which are different than what works for my local area) and a lot of tips not relevant to my area, such as the information about hedgehogs (which is great if you live in an area where hedgehogs are found but not very useful for a North American audience).

Thank you again to NetGalley and Timber Press for the opportunity to review an ARC.

I just found this book incredibly helpful. As someone who is still fairly new to gardening, I found this book to be a useful source to turn to as I asked myself, “why is this plant dying? What did I do wrong?” It is similar to having a community garden helper on hand without having to actually talk to a human! Overall, 10/10.

Beautiful illustrations and crammed full of tips, this book is well-organized and easy to follow, both month-to-month and through the thorough tables and index in the back. The wealth of information is laid out in an attractive, aesthetically pleasing way. I'm looking forward to seeing a printed copy and referring to it while working on my own garden.
