The synopsis reeled me in and for the first quarter of this book I was so excited! It starts with a bang. The dialogue and tension between the two main characters was done really well.

Then it just kind of goes down hill... very cliched, very dramatic, a little cringe in some parts (which I can usually get over and even enjoy that but in this case I just was not a fan).

Apart from my issues with the writing style I just also found the ending very rushed. There was a lot going on and it seemed excessively dramatic- I also just didn't think the ending matched the build up to the story?

I had some issues with the story/ actions of characters but this was along the lines of "why would they do that?" and "This makes no sense" etc.

I did want to note something in the book on p. 119- The dialogue mentions a character "spazzing out" which is offensive/denigrating to people living with Cerebral Palsy.

Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with this story in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed the beginning, but I’m really not a fan of the trope that happened. I think that this book just isn’t for me.

Thank you Netgalley for the digital ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Nothing like a good 'ol Wattpad romance!! Another epic read - and May Lynn is a new fave forsure! Thank you so much to the publishers for approving me for an advance copy!

Ok, ok, this ended up being way better than I thought it would be at first. The first chapter or two is a little rocky (the formatting issues on my e-ARC didn’t help), but if you push through it gets much better.

For this first 2/3’s or so, this is just a standard steamy estranged friends to lovers forced proximity adventure. But, this has some twists and turns that really set it apart from other romcoms.

This was a quick friends to lover read that was good but definitely had potential to be better. I enjoyed it but felt details could be lacking sometimes and a few areas were left without resolution.

Thank you NetGalley for the chance to read and review this book.

I couldnt help but get wrapped up in Lacey and Luke's story. It is nothing short of complicated but the journey of them breaking the friendzone left me with a huge smile on my face.

Lacey is a young twenty something who is following in her late mothers footsteps as she pursues pharmacy school. Her life seems to be falling into place until her father tells her about them spending the summer in The Hamptons. The last time she was in The Hamptons her mother was still alive. So, she not only has to deal with her grief but she is hoping she doesn't run into her ex best friend, Luke. He broke her heart and she was never the same.

Luke is in The Hamptons also on break from college. He dreads going home but it was always in the plan. He is almost a few years from taking over the Drake-Mason family business. And that's not something to look forward too. Sure he will be financially set for life but he won't be happy. But he finds that missing spark when he meets a blue eyed woman at a club named Blue. No woman has ever denied his charm and this no name woman just did. But she couldn't resist for long. They ended up in bed together and it was amazing. When the mystery woman leaves still without giving him her name, he vows to search the whole beach for her.

But the joke is on him because the woman who had him up all nighy is none other than his ex best friend, Lacey

Over the course of the summer, they are forced to work with each other and try to resist each other. They share some intense and spicy chemistry. Lacey always had a soft spot for Luke so his charm breaks her down. While Luke wants to break being in the friendzone Lacey has her guard up. Can he tear down her walls?

I loved Lacey and Luke's story. They have their fair share of secrets and obstacles, but they prove will always come out on top. I swooned so hard and you will too especially when you see how much Luke truly cares about Lacey and vice versa.

I give Breaking the Friendzone 5 stars. I loved the author's storytelling. I was captivated from the very beginning and keep rooting for Lacey and Luke. I think their story ended in the most beautiful way.

Whoa! I did not expect that third act! I enjoyed reading the story, a combo of forbidden love and friends to lovers, and the spice was excellent. I’m a little taken aback still about the revelation towards the end and I’m not entirely sure it was necessary. I know that the fallout from it wasn’t dealt with. I feel like without that, this book would’ve had a very high rating for me. As it is, I’m conflicted, but I enjoyed everything else about it.

3 stars ⭐️ Thank you NetGalley for this eARC in exchange for an honest review!

I had high expectations going into this book and it fell sort of flat for me. The concept was good, but the execution wasn’t where I needed it to be and I found myself more intrigued about the Drake-Mason company than caring if Luke and Lacey ended up together.

I enjoyed watching Luke and Lacey find their way back to each other and spend time together. The romance was nice but I didn’t feel the connection between them. I liked seeing Luke deal with his work and family issues and it was nice that Lacey was there to support him through such traumatic experiences.

I'm absolutely sorry that I couldn't love this book more. 😔 Overall, it was good, I just wanted more and wished I enjoyed it more.

Well, this was certainly one hell of a ride.

First off, I loved the beginning of the book (chapter 3 WOW), I did NOT expect that for the beginning of the story but I sure as hell loved every second of it!

Honestly, the whole book was so cool and interesting and I truthfully enjoyed reading it. Things just go downhill more near the end of the book.

When Lacey ends up somewhere I will not say to prevent spoilers, and finds out something I will not mention to prevent spoilers and kinda changes things a LOT, it started to feel like a telenovela (soap opera). When went down from there, with "shocking" revelations and "surprising" turns of events and "sad-ish" moments. It just felt too forced at a certain point and I didn't enjoy the way the plot was moving. The epilogue sort of saved things in a way, and may just be the reason this is a 3-star read and not 2/2.5.

It's not that I hated the book, I DIDN'T! I was just disappointed at the way the story moved from a certain point of the book more towards the end. It truly felt like something out of a telenovela (and not a very good one). Nevertheless, it had spiciness, banter, some funny and good revelations and, in an overall, a very solid story. It's just the ending...it was not good for me. I'm not saying it was bad in general, it just didn't work for me because I hate when stories turn into that sort of thing.

Well, it was still an amazing reading experience and I loved it! Plus, it has friends-to-enemies-to-lovers, and I LOVE IT!

Signing off,
B.

A good book. I enjoyed it mostly. There was just a lot going on. The first half is a but slow but the second half is almost too fast. This book does include some open door scenes which were a bit too explicit for my liking.

There were some really cute moments though, such as the alarms and passwords.

Lacey and Luke met as young kids at the beach behind their houses in the Hamptons. Little did they both know that the first day they met would change their lives forever. They created a bond and friendship that was so strong until one day things changed. Lacey was broken hearted over how Luke treated her and they never talked again. Fate had other ideas. They were now both in college and met again at a club, but Luke doesn’t have a clue the girl he is determined to get is Lacey. When he finds out the fireworks being and never stop. Secrets begin to unravel and hearts are broken. Throw in a few good surprises and you have a book I couldn’t put down. I was given an ARC through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Breaking the Friendzone is a Wattpad story that will be published on October 18, 2022. This is my first Wattpad read so I wasn't sure what to expect but I enjoyed this story a lot!

The book starts off with a bang - literally 😏. The way Lacey and Luke reconnect after not speaking to each other for years is unconventional and steamy and I loved every second of it. Although these two were friends as children, Lacey still makes Luke work to earn her trust/heart again which made room for many ways for Luke to try to win her back. The pining is just *chefs kiss*.

Underneath this love story is also a small mystery of just what pushed Luke and Lacey apart as children and what impact that has on them as adults. There was just the right amount of mystery to compliment the exploding romance happening between Lacey and Luke.

I was caught off guard (in a good way) at the last conflict and it left me not wanting to put the book down. I absolutely could not wait to see what was going to happen.

Content: smut level: gross

I received an ARC of this book through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This book has potential. If you can get through the first half, the last half is pretty decent. But there was a lot of scene skipping. All in all, this one is not for me.

The perfect light summer read!
You’ll enjoy this if you like:

☀️Enemies to lovers
☀️Fun friend group
☀️Steamy scenes
☀️Dual POV

I enjoyed the characters a lot, the main characters you could really feel the connection between and there was the most adorable scenes. The dual POV worked extremely well for this book. The friend group was absolutely so relatable, perfectly imperfect and just a total blast to read about. I loved the balance of character development, plot and steamy scenes.

Like mentioned, the perfect summer read. The author’s way of writing was easy to follow, witty, funny and so incredibly sweet. That epilogue has my heart. Seriously, damn❤️ that was one of the cutest epilogues ever.

This starts off a bit slow, and the ending a bit rushed, but other than that- a pure delight to read.

One thing about me, I love a friends to lovers trope. This was so cute an wholesome. I can't wait for everyone to get their hands on this so they can laugh and fall in love with these two.

The book was ok and I enjoyed ,
The start was too slow for me , the end was rushed . The main characters was likeable , the writing style was very well ,The.relationships of the four friends were cute, and they were believable. The intimate scenes did not make the novel feel cheap. There were also some adorable moments with the main characters.

Very easy read, I couldn't put it down and read in a single day.
Lacey and Luke's story is sweet, with some definitely surprising twists and turns.
The reveal of the passwords brought me to tears.
Characters are well developed and relatable.
Hope Rachel and Justin get their story so we can follow back up with this group.

"Breaking the Friendzone" started a little slow for me. Then, the end was rather rushed. This novel was well written, but has all the hallmarks of a debut novel to me. I liked how the book had a balance of steamy, intimate scenes and plot development. The main characters are likeable. The dual POV worked well in most parts of the novel. The relationships of the four friends were cute, and they were believable. The intimate scenes did not make the novel feel cheap. There were also some adorable moments with the main characters. My major gripe with this novel overall is the rushed mystery element at the end of the novel. Successful authors who incorporate mystery elements in their novels add more clues for the reader to pick up on. This makes the novel more interesting, drives the pace, and opens the novel up for re-reads. As it stands, I will not be picking "Breaking the Friendzone" back up for a revisit. The rushed mystery elements made the ending fall flat for me. This is a good, beachy, fun read. I'm interested to read more from this author as they develop. If you like a good balance between intimate scenes and plot, it is good. It's also well written, which is wonderful.
