I enjoyed this read, even though I wasn't properly prepared. Breaking the Friendzone is not all sunshine and roses. There is some pretty serious stuff that unfolds. It's not a romantic comedy, but closer to a romantic drama.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Breaking the Friendzone was an enjoyable read and pretty good given it was a Wattpad book, as they can get a pretty bad rap!

I received this novel as an advanced reader copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. There’s great chemistry between Lacey and Luke and the Hampton setting makes this an undeniable beach read. Light and fun, second chance at love.

We love friends to enemies to lovers, second chance? yes please.

The characters were believable and likeable and I found myself rooting for them very early on. The story is very character and plot driven and it's honed by the author's writing.

There was of course a little drama but nothing too scary or off putting. The perfect romance read.

It starts really sweet but it lacks of details for me; no resolution with her dad and sometimes it felt so rushed... Pregnancy trope plus some action

Ok, where do I start. I really liked the beginning of this book. I also loved the concept but the end just felt really rushed and too much for me. I just didn’t like that she was pregnant then the dad was crazy all along. Lucas was a saint tho. I loved him very much so. If you want a pregnancy trope plus some action then this would be the perfect book.

I adored the characters in this book! Their romance was adorable and I was hooked from the beginning!

This was cute but sometimes it skipped around. I wanted more resolution with her dad. More details could’ve been flushed out.

Thank you NetGalley for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Breaking the Friendzone was an easy read. I was able to finish it on a plane ride! Luke and Lacey are adorable as the main characters and while I was expecting some of the familiar romcom tropes, there were definitely plenty of twists and turns in the plot that made this a very entertaining read!

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC of this book.

Breaking the Friendzone is a quick and light, summer read. This is perfect for those who enjoy the friends to enemies and then lovers trope. The reader is introduced to Luke and Lacey in the beginning of the book and then the story follows their journey from this meeting. Both of them are strong willed and trying to reconcile their feelings of the past with that of the present day.

The author has done a great job of interspersing the past with the present, bringing to us the story of how Luke and Lacey knew each other, how their friendship grew and a glimpse into the secrets that pulled them apart. Lacey has a lot of leftover feelings to deal with including ones of hurt and betrayal. The characters are relatable and real for most of the time though at times they act like teenagers which makes it very childish. This is the only part that I felt could have been handled a little better.

However, I did enjoy reading this book and discovering the story of the characters in the book. This is a YA romance that will keep the reader turning the pages until the very end. As the story unfolds, secrets that were buried deeply start to come out impacting everyone in the story and we follow them as they find a way to move forward from this. The book is definitely worth a read for those who enjoy the genre or the trope mentioned.

WoW! This book was amazing.
Breaking the Friendzone was a great read.
The characters instantly pulled me into their world.
I love that there's things going on apart from the romantic relationship.
This makes the characters much more relatable.
The book is also well written. And developed throughout.
I had a great time reading it and enjoyed it to the last bit!
The author did a good job giving you a vested interest in the main characters life, but not providing unnecessary information that can make the story drawn out and boring. The storyline kept my interest throughout the book. I would definitely read more books by this author.

Fun, quick read about childhood best friends, turned enemies, turned forever. I read it in just a few hours. Enough steam and plot twists to make it interesting!

This trope is admittedly, top tier. The friends to enemies to lovers sets the perfect setting for our main characters and allows their chemistry to ignite.
Loved the character, I found them witty and relatable even through all the ups and downs they faced.
The story is very character and plot driven and it's honed by the author's writing. I found Lynn's writing to be very expressive and I was able to engage within the story well. I particularly liked the epilogue.
This book was well written, funny, sweet and it would be a perfect summer addition to your tbr. Really enjoyed it and looking forward to seeing more from this author.

I LOVED this book! It kept me on my toes and was full of surprises! Lucas and Lacey are my new favorite couple and I loved their relationship with their friends too. Such a charming read. This definitely needs to be added to your tbr list! I look forward to reading more from May Lynn!

Thank you to NetGalley and Wattpad Books for this arc!

Oh my goodness, I loved this book from start to finish! Luke and Lacey are my very favorite! The entire story was woven together with many surprises to keep you on your toes and it was heartbreakingly wonderful!! I started this book on a plane ride to the beach and finished while bathing in the sun. I cannot wait to recommend this to all my people! So great!

This book just didn’t really do it for me. It was okay, but it was slow in many places and it just didn’t hook me the way I wanted it to. Not to say it wasn’t good, just not for me.

I genuinely enjoyed reading this novel, it was swoon-worthy, had summer vibes and was cute. I found that the plot and characters were not super memorable but in the moment I liked the author's voice, the dual POVs and the easy nature of the book.
The dynamic between the two leads was witty, sweet and not necessarily relatable, but definitely understandable due to their history. The leads had great chemistry and their struggles and drama that they faced were engaging and made me want to continue reading.
I definitely enjoyed this novel, I think May Lynn has done an excellent job but it just might not be my cup of tea.
Thank you so much to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC, its much appreciated and I really liked the book.

Thank you for the arc!

This was a fun, quick read. And while I enjoyed it in the moment, I’m not sure if it’ll stick with me. I liked the dynamic of the two mc’s, but they didn’t feel as fleshed out as they could be. The romance was sweet, though, and I found myself smiling along as I read.

Breaking the Friendzone was an easy read, but one that I felt could have used more direction. I felt like the characters couldn't decide if they were crazy college kids or grown up adults - they wavered back and forth between immature partying and reckless behaviors to more mature situations and adult decisions. I enjoyed the fast pace of the book and the dialogue between the characters, but I couldn't get invested in the plot as there were too many different angles. From childhood friends to enemies to lovers, infidelity, job insecurity, financial woes, marriage issues, and family drama.... there was just a lot to take in.

All that being said... I did enjoy the book. It was sweet, funny, and steamy - just very un-relatable for me.
