Another good Janet Dailey book set in the west. Story set in the Santa Catalina Mountains outside Tucson Arizona. Brock Tolman was the owner of Tolman Ranch which was breeding bucking bulls and Angus beef steers. He was a large business man and owned thousands of acres. Tess Champion owned the Alamo Canyon Ranch along with her family. The Alamo Canyon Ranch was also into breeding bucking bulls. Brock saved the Alamo Canyon Ranch from foreclosure and became partners with the Champion family. He also saved the life of Whiplash a bucking bull from the Alamo Canyon Ranch who had been ruled too dangerous to be in the arena. Tess worked with her foreman Ruben Diego elder of the Tohono O’odham tribe. Tess was picking from Brock’s bulls a replacement for Whiplash. Brock was receiving threats from someone who’s was trying to harm him and others were harmed or actually killed. The threats were to punish Brock for something he had supposedly done years before. Kept you reading wanting to know what was coming next. I enjoyed the book and would recommend it to others.

As per usual a Janet Dailey book is a good read, even though it is a collaborative read since her death. The writers have kept the books in the same fashion as when Dailey herself wrote.

This was the third book in the Champion Sisters trilogy and was Tess's story. It was interesting to see how the story panned out with a relationship looming between Tess and Brock, a man who she actually despised and who Tess knew was angling to get his hands on the Champions Alamo Canyon Ranch.

Interesting twists and good storyline made it an enjoyable read and wrapped the trilogy up well.

Thanks to Netgalley and Kensington Books for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Definitely the best instalment of the series. Enjoyed this one a lot more than the others, especially the suspense at the end that kept me reading! This was more like the Janet Dailey that I liked. As with the previous books, I had no interest in the rodeo parts but they seemed less intrusive this time.

Content: a couple of brief intimate scenes.

Janet Dailey brings us back to the Champions. She brings us the story of Tess and Brock. Tess is wary of Brock and his intentions when everyone knows that he wants to expand his holdings and would love to add her ranch to his portfolio, especially when he bailed them out before when she had no other options. In exchange, Tess gets to choose a bull from his ranch. Turns out, Quicksand is exactly what she needs and wants for her family. When accidents start happening around Brock, Tess is drawn in to help especially when it involves the men who work for him and the animals in his care. When they are involved in a plane crash, they are both made to confront their feelings. But, will the past tear them apart, or will it bring them together to fight an unknown enemy?

Janet Dailey brings us back to the Champion women and where they are in their lives. While the story centers around Tess, we do get to see what her sisters are up to and what challenges they are against. It was nice visiting them and seeing what was going on in their lives while seeing where life would take Tess. You keep turning the page to see where events will lead our two characters and how it will impact their lives and their respective ranches. I look forward to reading what comes next from this author.

This is the 3rd book in the series about the Champion Family. The three Champion sisters are running the rancfh since their father and their brother are deceased. The ranch is all about raising prize bulls for the bullriding event at the rodeos. Tess, the oldest sister is trying to balance it all. Another rancher, Brock Tolman, has made some partnership agreements with her that are helping her keep her ranch going. Both Tess and Brock have some setbacks along the way and most are caused by someone trying to get revenge against Brock.

I loved this story. I enjoyed learning more about how the bulls are raised for this event and how the event is handled at the rodeos. Janey Dailey's books are always well researched.

I have voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book that I received from NetGalley. All views expressed are only my own honest opinion.

Quicksand, the third book in Janet Daily’s The Champions series, is a time bomb of a suspenseful romance. An edge of your seat tension filled and dangerous mystery drives Tess and Brock’s story. The oldest of the Champion sisters, Tess is the glue that has held the Champion family together through a myriad of family tragedies. The challenges and frustrations she faces as a bull breeding Contractor while at the same time fending off her nemesis/love Brock’s attempts at taking over her family’s ranch stretches her resolve to a near breaking point.

Tess’ determined belief in a non pedigreed rank bull, Quicksand, gives this story the multi-layers that keeps the reader engrossed and invested from beginning to end. With devastating peril to human and livestock mounting as his past comes back to haunt him, Brock’s singular focus on Tess and Alamo Canyon Ranch is sorely tested.

The pages could not turn fast enough as Tess and Brock are tormented and still persevere, while at the same time all strings of their past are tied up for Val and Casey, and then finally Lexie and Shane settle where they belong. All in all a very satisfying ending to a riveting series.

This ARC book was complimentary, provided by the Publisher and NetGalley. I am voluntarily providing my honest review.

This is a quick fun read about love...ranching...friendship...faithful partners...raising cattle...This book was sent to me by Netgalley electronically for review. The characters are likable...big families...living on ranches...extended relatives who get in one another's business sometimes...this author is well known for her stories of love and marriage...

Brock is a rich rancher in the desert near Tucson. Among his other holdings he raises bucking bulls to compete in rodeos. Tess’s ranch was almost foreclosed upon but Brock came to the rescue, for his own reason’s, and is now a partner. Tess also raises rodeo bulls on her ranch and buys a new one from Brock, Quicksand. Tess and the ranch need some money coming in, badly. Quicksand could be their ticket.

Tess hasn’t allowed anyone romantically in her life since her boyfriend died in the war. She is dealing with a lot of stress in her family and with the ranch… and she doesn’t quite trust Brock. Brock firmly believes business and pleasure don’t mix so he’s hands-off with Tess. But can that policy last? And what about the killer out there hunting Brock and maybe even Tess as they grown closer?

This was a lightly engaging story. It had all you could look for: a present day western with rodeos thrown in, a thriller, and a romance. I had a bit of a hard time figuring out how the protagonists fell in love and fell in love so quickly given their history. But that was just a minor bump along the road.

This is the 3rd in the Champion series. It might be ok to read as a standalone but I would suggest reading the first two so you can understand the other plot lines in the book. It is meant to be a wrap up for all three in the series. And it will help you get some important insight into Tess and Brock.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
