I so enjoyed this book, and it definitely won't be my last from Laura Bradbury. I didn't expect to enjoy this story as much as I did, but I was intrigued by the premise, which was what made me even request the book in the first place. It also has some of my favorite tropes in a book - workplace romance, enemies-to-lovers, and force proximity. I cannot wait to read more from this author in the future!

Unlikely Match hit my emotions from the very start, and by very start, I mean the dedication page. Unlikely Match deals with the difficult reality of rare illness and organ transplant . The story follows Jules as she suffers from liver disease that is quickly taking her life and without a liver transplant she will die. A fighter in all ways, Jules doesn’t let this stop her, she pushes back against family who only see her as “broken”, a man who belittles her and she starts a company with her best friend. This girl is fierce! This story had me so emotional, watching as Jules isolated herself from her peers in fear of being treated differently if they new about her illness, gutted me. No one should have to feel alone when they are sick but thankfully she had Alan who is the best friend everyone needs. He is sweet, compassionate and there whenever she needed him. And then of course there is Tom, the hot, brooding egomaniac who at the end of the day is really just misunderstood. This book had everything, raw fear, sadness, love, friendship, loss and love. It was so beautifully written and touched on the health issues and impacts with compassion and care.

Diagnosed with a rare liver/bile duct disorder, Jules Kelly is balancing her difficult journey and need for a liver transplant with GoodGuides, a tech startup she co-created with her best friend Alan. Their business just moved into a brand new space, shared with another tech company. From the minute they first met, Jules and Tom (CEO of the other company) *hate* each other - but life and rom-coms always have more in store for us. ;)

At the beginning of the novel, I really kind of hated Jules. Yes she had a devastating illness, but she was bratty, spoiled and overly woke. I might have stopped reading had I not been gifted an ARC e-book. But she did grow and change through the novel and I mostly liked her in the end. The sparkling cast or supporting characters helped keep it going too.

A book shouldn't make you cry this much. Laura Bradley opens up a world of vulnerability as Jules struggles with illness, looking for a transplant, running a business, and keeping so much from everyone. Tom brings a spark to her life that was missing and much needed. The emotional rollercoaster is perfection.

this may be one of my fave books ever. everything was just so good. even though the after part wasn't my favorite but still, this book had my heart in my mouth and it made me cry endless tears.

the way the struggles of Jules are portrayed along with that of Tom a.k.a Thunder is so beautifully portrayed that was like I was going through all of this myself. the book is a gem and this deserves so much more.

the tropes are great, workplace romance, grumpy, and sunshine, and the humor is also great. I would totally recommend this book but please read triggers before because this can be too much for your heart

Going into this book initially, I really struggled to get into it, but about 20% in, I began to have that interest sparked… sadly the hype and desire to finish the book died down around the 70% mark as it became incredibly predictable and “fan-fiction-like”, but I respect the characters and I respect the story behind this book.
The one thing that really irked me was the fact that Tom was so fast to assume things, and Jules was completely indecisive and changing her mind every other day. I found it frustrating.

“Unlikely Match” is set in Victoria, British Columbia, in which two polar opposite companies are forced to work together in a shared space. Jules, the CEO of GoodGuides is dealing with PSC and doesn’t have much time left as her liver continues to fail, but she doesn’t like sharing that fact as she doesn’t want it to be a burden to the way people perceive her. Tom, the CEO of Silobase is a complete asshole to Jules upon first meeting her- but he can’t help but continue to be drawn to her… As they build a friendship, Jules gets even more sick… Leaving Tom… just completely in the dust.

It was a really cliche and predictable read but it was interesting to read the perspective of someone who is really sick- so I appreciated that and still pleasantly enjoyed it!

Very original plot! I loved the male protagonist. The female protagonist could be a bit frustrating at times. It accurately depicted the transplant experience and I’m glad a looked over group of people are finally getting their chance to shine in romance!

Wow! Not what I expected, it was so much more!
First things first, no one told me I’d need Kleenex! Jules story took me on an emotional roller coaster. The medical information was described in an informative manner with out too much detail.
The way Tom’s character was developed, it was easy to understand his motivation and personality. I love how the author put these two personalities together and made it work so well.

I definitely recommend this book.

Omg what a cute story of a woman going through quite a process of treatment/illness that just gets you to turn pages like crazy!

The banter was fun, hot, and I really enjoyed the story ensued with family. You can see how well the author included her own experience into this heartfelt book.

This book as such a cute premise and I flew through it. The characters felt so earnest and real. Loved it!

Let's talk about a first chapter that catches you!!!! Damn this first chapter has it ALL !!!!!! How sassy hahaha I loved it !!!!! Then yes I kept reading like my life depends of it and I loved it even more!!!

"...life doesn't have to be perfect to be wonderful."

I loved all the insights into PCS and living transplant. How she was feeling about her (horrible) family and how most of her friends decided to leave once she was sick. And it's mixed with tomance and friendship so it's just an amazing story!!!! It's strong and beautiful and you can just sit down and read nonstop and don't even notice the hours passing.

This hit me hard in some ways, I'll admit I cried at some point. I wanted to hug Jules. This hit a spot in me, I know it's not the same but when I was diagnosed with cancer many "friends" stopped being there because I wasn't as fun, because the pain, the nauseas, the talks, my depression, my anxiety, everything wasn't the same. It was hard, I stayed completely alone spending all my savings (in my country health care is depressing) and trying to be a mom in a city where I knew nobody. My relatives weren't helpful either (just like in this story). And, I haven't talk about this, but I met an angel (like Tom in this book) who saved my life. I met my partner at the hospital while my first rounds of chemotherapy, he is a surgeon there and we just met, he started to take care of me and I have said many times, he saved my life. So yes this book made me cry!!!! I cried of worry, cried because of my memories and cried of happiness.

Do I recommend it? I'll say this, PLEASE GO BUY IT, ITS AVAILABLE ALREADY ON AMAZON OR LOOK FOR IT AT YOUR FAVORITE BOOK SHOP!!!!! I could bet that every romance fan will love this book. It deserves to be on a hype!!! Not just because I felt identified but because it IS DAMN FREAKING GOOD!!!!!!

I received an ARC of Unlikely Match from Laura Bradbury & NetGalley and went into it relatively blind. What I thought was going to be another cheesy romance (which I love, btw) turned out to be so much more. I had no idea the impact this book would have on me. The fact that the author has real life experience with primary sclerosing cholangitis and has her own liver transplant journey gives the reader so much knowledge and rawness. It was very unexpected to feel the true depth of a chronic illness and what that reality looks like. I had the pleasure of chatting with Laura Bradbury after I finished the book and she shared some beautiful/ugly truths of seeing the best/worst in people in a time of crisis. I was so curious at which parts of this story were fiction and what were snippets from her own experience and, you guys..Stewart is a real life angel. *swoon* Thank you Laura for sharing that insight into your story. I could have picked your brain for hours.

Laura has a way of combining hard topics with light humor and yummy romance that created this lovely 5 star read for me. I don't know that I've ever felt such polarizing emotions all at once. From the terrifying journey of Jules' illness, to the anger towards her family that were so awful during the worst parts of her journey, and to her delicious enemies to lovers/ workplace romance with Tom. And don't even get me started on her relationship with her best friend, Alan. Absolute perfection!

Cannot say enough good things about Unlikely Match. I HIGHLY recommend.

This novel was heartfelt and sweet and I liked the way it dealt with it's heavy topics.

The author does an excellent job with her writing. I hope to read more of her books in the future.

I adored this book Jules pulled at my heartstrings and it was very heartbreaking seeing her journey with PSC and how she slowly felt herself fading away. The hospital appointments and the lack of support from her family allow weighed on her. I loved her relationship with the hospital staff and it showed sometimes people we don’t know that well are more compassionate and caring than the one that we do know. I despised her family and how selfish they were. I also enjoyed her friendship with Alan who is there for her no matter what. I enjoyed the aspect that they run a tech company together called good guides based on travel. Good guides have to share an office with another company and that’s where Tom comes in he seems like the classic tech bro and everything Jules disposes of but despite all of that he's the only one who makes her feel alive. We learn that Tom is way more than just a tech bro and I love how different sides of him are revealed and the development of Jules and Tom's romantic relationship. Overall I readily enjoyed this book it had a lot of real-life problems in it and it really tugged at my emotions

I loved this book! Jules and Tom had a perfect enemies to lovers, workplace romance. Add in that Jules has a rare disease and will soon die from a failing liver if she doesn't get a transplant, and you have a unique, fresh contemporary romance on your hands. I loved Jules's bravery and wit. I thought her point of view was so authentic and well done. The medical aspects of this book were perfectly done and gave me an inside look at the different aspects of transplants and recovery. I love that this book included the nitty gritty and wasn't only rainbows and sunshine.

Tom is the brooding, tall, dark, and handsome hero that we all need! I loved watching his relationship with Jules play out. The pacing of this book was great, and I couldn't put it down. I loved it and can't wait to get my hands on a physical copy!

For those of you who love wry (and sometimes a wee bit dark) humor, emotional intensity, loyal friendships, insane chemistry, and forced proximity in the context of high medical stakes, Unlikely Match is for you.

As a nurse I think the only thing that bothered me was the POV during the IV scene where the nurses had to stick our MC and she had negative feedback about them and then let the IV Team specialist continue that negative talk about them. I know this kind of thing is accurate and not every patient and every nurse gets along, but how it was done in the book did put me on the defensive as a nurse myself wanting to defend my own.

I loved the entrepreneur start ups for these companies even though I honestly didn't understand what their companies did and how exactly they made money. I loved the competition to win, but also required to help each other. Jules was an amazing character to follow through this transplant journey of her family being unsupportive and having to find that support elsewhere while also living her life. Tom started off as this strong hateful individual and very quickly became our soft squishy cinnamon roll hero.

I do think it was a little crazy what Tom did for Jules since they barely knew each other, but after this when you got to know his truth it made a lot more sense. I do think Jules had such a realistic reaction to her liver transplant and I'm glad to see how it was such a blessing and struggle at the same time because its such a mental battle along with dealing with the physical side of recovery.

This book was ok. I had really high hopes for it but it fell a little flat. It was cute and a quick read. I thought there was going to be a lot more romance. I also felt like part 1 and part 2 were like reading two totally separate books. I did enjoy that this story focuses on suffering from an illness and getting a new start.

Transplant romance is a unique plot and one I highly recommend readers to try out!
I love Jules & Tom’s characters, but i honestly did not enjoy much of the sexual tension between them especially those few chapter at the end ***SPOILER ALERT*** miscommunication trope did not work for me. Actually, this book almost tried using all sorts of trope, but that one just made me really *roll my eyes to the back of my head* kind of feeling.
Other than that, this book felt so special. It allowed me to have a glimpse of the life, struggles & the different outlooks that people like Jules & Tom experienced. This book felt raw, honest, & heartfelt. And it makes you appreciate you life even more. That’s what I love most about this book, after the last page, before moving on with life/the next read, it made me stop and reflect. Just goes to show how deep & personal this book’s impact had on me.
