This was soo cute! I love the way Jasmine Guillory writes her characters and how they treat each other. This was a beautiful, steamy romance that begins as forbidden love (the guy she connects with one night ends up being her employee), but ends as a beautiful romance between two characters I absolutely loved! So swoony and a delight to read!

"Drunk on Love" by Jasmine Guillory is an intoxicating and sparkling romance set against the lush backdrop of Napa Valley wine country. Margot Noble, dealing with the stress of running a family winery, finds a tempting escape in Luke, a charming stranger. Guillory skillfully crafts their chemistry into a perfect one-night stand, only to throw a delightful curveball when Luke reappears as the winery's newest hire.

The narrative is a delightful blend of humor, passion, and the complexities of professional and personal boundaries. Margot's determination to keep things professional with Luke, despite the undeniable attraction, sets the stage for a challenging and engaging story. Guillory's portrayal of the characters is nuanced, and the lush descriptions of the Napa Valley create an immersive reading experience.

As Luke grapples with a career change and Margot juggles family responsibilities, the novel explores themes of identity, ambition, and the unexpected turns love can take. The ethical dilemmas add depth to the plot, keeping readers hooked on the journey of these dynamic characters. "Drunk on Love" is a delightful read that skillfully balances romance and real-world challenges, making it a standout addition to Jasmine Guillory's repertoire.

I really enjoy any Jasmine Guillory novel and this another one I really liked! Her romance writing is top notch and I appreciate how crafty she inserts sexy scenes vs. it being crude!

Margot, co-owner of a winery with her brother, faces a challenging sibling dynamic at work. To unwind, she heads out one evening and, on a dare from a friend, strikes up a conversation with a customer at a restaurant. What she assumes is just a one-night stand takes an unexpected turn when she encounters the same person at her winery the next day – as her brother's latest hire!

Jasmine Guillory continues to impress with her romance novels, and this one is no exception. It's not only charming but also touches on deeper issues like complex family relationships and racial bias.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am excited at the prospect of a sequel focusing on Margot's brother. The winery setting is perfect for more stories, and I'm looking forward to what might come next in this delightful series.

I liked this book because the story was really cozy. Somewhere in a small town in California and a winery as its main location- this sounds perfect, isn't it? I also loved the fact that the protagonist Margot is a business owner and even though the winery was not her initial decision she accepted her heritage and went all in. I often got reminded of my own work life and the ton of e-mails waiting to be answered in my inbox. Margot is a workaholic, but she also loves great food and evenings with her friend Sydney who works as a barkeeper. What coincidence that Margot meets Luke in that bar! Somehow it was difficult for me to be enthusiastic about the love story, somehow there was just too much miscommunication for me.

It is definitely a solid, cozy romcom but not a five stars book for me. Still, I am eager to read the other novels of the author.

A really cute story. If you liked Jasmine’s other books, you will love this one too! I’ve enjoyed most of Guillory’s books, sometimes they can be a little cliche and I would love to see her dig a little deeper into her characters at times. Overall, a very enjoyable, light read.

I love everything Jasmine Guillory writes. I'm not really interested in the wine business but I loved these characters.

I’m calling this week of absolute drudgery to a close. It’s a DNF and I think this is where my journey with this author ends 😭 I looooved The Wedding Date. That series was one of my all time favorites but the last three I’ve read from Jasmine Guillory have been so lackluster for me that I’m just sadly done. There’s not anything specifically wrong with this book, it’s just the classic take on a very overused trope that I was not into. No crazy sparks or banter or anything to keep me past that first night with these two much less read them through the awkward morning after Ah crap she’s my boss, mess.

Guillory does it again with another fabulous romance! She is the queen of creating real, authentic characters - they're so easy to love and root for in almost all of her books! I really enjoyed this one. I felt like parts of the middle lacked something (I'm not sure what!?) but it felt a bit slower in the middle. But overall it was great and enjoyed it!

A audácia desse macho.

While Drunk on Love did a seemingly good job with the winery aspect, the love story didn't hit as much for me. The forbidden love trope gets a bit old after the fourth or fifth time the MC worries about it--and understandably, considering she's his boss. However, the miscommunications between her and the lover and also her and her brother were too much for me, and not enjoyable. I loved that it was set in Napa, but outside of that, I probably wouldn't recommend this one of Jasmine Guillory's books to a friend.

I don’t love wine, but I do love romance!
In Drunk on Love, we are given an immediate attraction between Margot, a success winery owner, and a tech-professional named Luke. They meet in Napa after a particularly stressful day for Margot. There is a spark between these two, and both of them realize it would be good to indulge themselves. They clearly didn’t expect to see each other at work the next morning!

You can’t imagine the awkwardness!
It takes enough effort to get out of our own bed on time for work, let alone early enough from a lover’s house! Margot does not perform the “walk of shame” as its known, but rather, Luke drives her home. He wants to see her again, but she’s quite unsure about that. Either way, she gets herself together and preps herself for a Monday morning at the winery. I couldn’t help but laugh to myself when I pictured the two of them seeing each other at work. Margot’s brother hired Luke, she had no idea he was the new guy! I don’t think I have enough of a poker face to survive that. Fortunately she does, and the two of them get through their first day without attracting suspicions with co-workers.

Ever had a workplace fantasy?
Jasmine Guillory applies just the right amount pressure between Margot and Luke at work. Their night together was like an inferno, and immediately the next day they had to set the stove to simmer. It would be easy to let Luke into her office, shut the door, and lay him out on her desk. Margot Noble doesn’t take the easy routes. She works hard, and she wants to be taken seriously. She can’t allow a workplace romance to strip of her of the hard earned respect she’s earned from her employees, and the town of Napa. Instead, she draws a line between them to keep it all professional. It works for a chapter or so, but ultimately we know that the heat between them inevitably rises until they have to take a leap together, or get out of the kitchen.

I loved Drunk on Love, so much! Jasmine Guillory does such a great job of writing characters that we care about. We want both Margot and Luke to be successful as individuals, but can’t they just hurry up and get married? Their struggles are relatable. Keeping up with ethics and morals means to keep sweeping their natural feelings under the rug. Guillory manages to take us through their battles in a way that keeps us hooked, and rooting for their seemingly impossible happily ever after.

I LOVE Jasmine Guillory, so any chance to read something by her and I am in.

Margot is struggling a bit to continue running the family winery with her brother. The comparison between the two siblings and how they handle things in the business is wearing her down. Enter Luke, a new employee who may be there temporarily but has a good background in the business. One night in the bar before he starts and things have gotten even more complicated for Margot. But complicated may be worth it.

As per usual, I really enjoyed how Guillory set up our characters meet-cute. I was sitting there reading it, thinking, something is going to go off here. When they ended up being manager and employee, I laughed out loud.

I will say one of the things I wasn't a huge fan of was the sibling conflict. I feel like Margot wasn't being strong enough to stick up to her brother and deserved better. It weakened Margot in my eyes a bit.

Overall, this was a pretty good story. Thanks for the ARC.

I liked Margot and Luke individually and together. Margot seemed to know what she wanted in a partner, so the only area she still wanted validation was in her familial relationships. Luke was just a nice guy and he cared what others thought of him. What they had in common, other than sexual chemistry, was the drive to make their mark in their career.

I had always wondered what Elliott knew about Margot and Luke, but he did hire Elliott before Margot met him so there wasn’t any big brother match making there.

The secondary characters added some flavor to the romance. I’m wondering if Avery will get her own book.

Drunk on Love
By: Jasmine Guillory

Margot Noble is a co-owner of a family winery in Napa. She inherited the business with her brother when her uncle passed. She’s looking for a little stress relief on Subday night. While sitting at her friends bar Sydney dares her to flirt with the 28 year old guy Luke who just came in.
They really hit things off and their morning is even better.
After Luke takes her home she gets ready for work and when she arrives her brother announces he’s hired someone for the tasting room only for Luke to walk in. Truly embarrassed, she knows she can’t continue a relationship with a member of her staff. Luke even offers to quit but Margot is sure they can be civil and work together.
However their attraction continues. Margot doesn’t want her brother to know what’s happened, he’s already over critical of her work in the winery but Luke has his issues too. He’s moved back to Napa after quitting his job in Silicon Valley however his mom think he’s on a sabbatical and dating his best friend Avery. Can these two get past all the stuff in their way?

I always love Jasmine’s lead characters! Strong, Independent women who usually know what they want and how to get it. This one is definitely a must read.

Hello

Apologies for the late notice, but I have decided not to review this title.

While I am certain it's obvious by now, I wanted to also clear this off NetGalley, so it's not showing as open for either of us.

I look forward to continuing to work with you in 2023 and beyond.

Laura

Thank you so much to the publisher for sending me an ARC!

Unfortunately I DNFed this, it just didn’t catch my attention and maybe I’ll get into it again when I’m in the perfect headspace to give this another try! But I would buy and recommend this to others definitely!

I have recently become acquainted with her literary works and found them good. I felt they were all “feel good” contemporary romance novels that were cute. This book went from average to really above fun average. I could not stop smiling.

I enjoyed all the characters. Even the annoying brother! Everyone was nice but I’m more hyperfocusing on how strong the friendships are between Margo and Sydney, Luke and Avery, and last but not least, a friendship between Margo and Luke. It’s so easy for a couple to have hot sex but can they talk in real everyday life? That’s hot if you answer “yes.”

It’s a cute premise where the boss accidentally sleeps with her employee, but to see it’s a woman who is the boss is about darn time! I adore the part where Luke even offers to quit to make Margo feel more comfortable, even though she assures him, “no, and it would probably violate many ethical rules.” Let’s add more chaos into the fun factor and have Luke’s mom not know the reason why Luke is back in Napa when he’s supposed to be in Silicon Valley. Oh, and Luke’s mom gleefully thinks Luke is back because he’s dating Avery, again. Avery thinks that is hilarious, as when they were dating for a hot minute, in high school, she didn’t much care for Avery.

If you want a fun read and a feel good novel, this is the one to read. It's not overly complicated and a quick read.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Berkley Publishing for sharing this amazing digital reviewer copy with me in exchange for my honest thoughts.
