When Margot's one night stand, Luke, becomes the newest employee at her family's winery, the attraction is still there.

I enjoyed Drunk on Love - just like I enjoyed all of Jasmine Guillory's romances. It was probably the quickest read of 2022 for me - and I was in a major slump, so this is quite the compliment. I liked Margot and Luke's chemistry and banter, and I loved the winery setting.

I enjoyed this, no surprise as i'm a Guillory fan, but in particular I loved the family dynamics the honest discusson about power dynamics at work, it was great!

I would rather watch paint dry than read another paragraph of this book. Holy hell this was painful.

Let me break it down for you:
• unlikeable characters
• horrible communication skills
• the book is written like the reader is too stupid to piece things together on their own
• dual POVs were very much rinse and repeat (see previous point)
• nothing felt sexy about this romance
• there wasn’t a single bit of humor or fun in this novel

The only reason I didn’t DNF it was because the publisher sent me the novel and I always follow through on my commitments to publishing houses.

I didn’t like or dislike this book. The plot was fun but for some reason I didn’t connect with the main characters. I liked the strong female character but….I’ve only read 1 other of her books and felt the same way. So it could be that I don’t enjoy her writing style. Either way I know there are many fans. Thanks to NetGalley for the advanced copy. #NetGalley #DrunkonLove

Classic Guillory, sexy, fun, likeable characters. Both characters lean into each other to figure what's important in their lives.

This was not for me.... couldn't get behind either character and the chemistry was just off to me.... I love JG but this one didn't work for me.

There’s no better time to read a Jasmine Guillory novel like just before Valentine’s Day! Her newest novel takes place at a family owned winery in Napa.

Margot is working hard at her family’s winery trying to prove to her brother that she can handle the task of running the business side of the winery. She’s doing lots of promotion and marketing to get people to visit and buy lots of wine. She needs some stress relief when she meets a handsome stranger in a bar and has a great night with him.

…. Until he shows up at work as her new employee her brother hired. Luke is taking a break from his job in Silicon Valley and moves home to Napa without telling her mis mom why or that he left his job. He’s very into Margot but she is his new boss! How can this work?

This was classic Jasmine. They have incredible chemistry and wonderful banter. It has a decent level of spice and it was fun to see two workaholics chill out and enjoy each other. It was interesting to hear about Elliott and Margot’s experience as black winery owners and that is a very small, niche group.

Thank you so much to @PRHaudio @berkleyromance @jasmineguillory for my gifted copy. I actually received this book this week with PRH’s blind date with a book!

Jasmine Guillory is an author whose books I can always count on to be fun AND educational. Learning about wine around the blossoming romance kept me engaged and invested in the characters and their success. I love how Guillory’s heroines are always strong, intelligent, career minded women!

First, I LOVED that this book took place in Napa and the MC, Margot, owned a winery! This book included close proximity and workplace tropes along with a slight age gap between Margot and Luke (only 6 years, though Margot brings it up on numerous occasions). There was also a theme of siblings too between Margot and her brother, Elliot. Aside from that, I enjoyed the discussions of the importance of DEI in the workplace and of the struggles Margot faces on everyday basis of being a woman and woman of color CEO. The romance was cute with lots of tension, I just found nothing super special about it. Plus I didn't like how Luke continually led his mom to believe things that were untrue. I understand he felt ashamed, but I just felt bad for his poor mom. Also, the third act conflict was a little blah and I didn't like how Margot or Luke handled it. Overall, I still enjoy Jasmine Guillory books, this one just wasn't as strong as some of her others in my opinion!

This read different than other Guillory books and I really enjoyed it. The one night stand turns out to be your coworker/ boss is one of my favorite tropes and I thought this was done really well!

I enjoyed that the conflict didn’t revolve around being coworkers like other books with this trope do and there were other issues involved.

The open door sexy scenes were great! This was a quick and cute romance!

This story was simply boring.

I hear so much about Jasmine Guillory so I made sure to grab this newest release. I can't say that there was anything wrong with this story. There just wasn't anything exciting.

The story is about Margot Noble. She has been working with her brother at the family winery. Her brother is more CEO of the winery and doesn't seem to respect her job much. Margot hangs with her friend, who ones a local bar, a lot. One of these nights, she meets Luke at the bar and they spend hours talking and laughing, but of course, no exchanging of names since they just wanted to forget about their respective stresses. Yeah, that never leads to problems.

Since they are both grown adults, they decide to enjoy the rest of the night together. They have great sex and he is a gentleman and drives her back to her apartment in the morning. Then Luke drives over to his new job at the local winery and meets his new boss, who he just slept with.

The rest of the story that I read involves Margot and Luke being very pleasant to each other while pretended they haven't seen each other naked. Luke learning his new job and Margot wanting to make sure her brother doesn't find out about her and Luke since he already doesn't seem to respect her.

The characters were all very nice. Even the brother, while aloof, was a nice guy. Margot and Luke were very respectful and were managing to act like adults about the whole mix up. But there just wasn't anything interesting about the story.

Yeah, Margot and Luke would make a nice couple. There was strong attraction but the sex wasn't off the charts. They were embarrassed that people would question their working and sleeping together but Luke wasn't planning on making this job his new career. Luke was just having problems with his big money, big brain software job, part of which was the fact that as he was the only black man in his company and he realized he was hired to simply fill that gap with no respect to his abilities. So both Margot and Luke were underappreciated.

Sometimes I wonder why we can't just have a sweet romance without stupid, senseless drama. I think this is why. It was boring. I put this one down and had no interest in seeing what happened next.

Jasmine Guillory never disappoints. I love everything she has written and this one was just as good as her other titles. I love love love love this author. Read all her books you will not be disappointed.

Guillory's romance novels shine when they focus on their heroines, and Drunk on Love is no exception. It's easy to root for Margot, who is trying to prove to herself and to her brother how much she belongs in the role of a co-owner for a Napa Valley vineyard. After a one night stand turns out to be her latest surprise employee, she works hard to keep things professional, knowing that she is in a position of power and her reputation as a rare Black woman in industry is worth protecting. I was nervous with this scenario, but should have known that Guillory's previous work as an employment lawyer meant we were in safe hands (both from an ethical and legal standpoint with the burgeoning relationship). The wine portions were less interesting to me, but the story was well-written, and the romance both steamy and respectful.

I love me some Jasmine Guillory. Her books are sexy, fun, and diverse, though this time both protagonists are Black, although it's not clear if that's true of the supporting characters. There's even a minor character who uses "they." Margot and Luke's relationship is realistic, although he is a bit of a dumb dumb and needs the women in his life to whip him into shape.

This book isn't part of the Wedding Date series but I was hoping to see at least one character from those books, and I wasn't disappointed when someone (I won't spoil who) visits the winery.

This is a great book for anyone who loves lighthearted, romantic, generally predictable stories. I mean that not in a bad way! There are many times that I just need to sit down with something that isn't going to surprise me too much, or have any unexpected triggers. I just want romance, a bit of humor, and some really hot main characters.

And this one takes place at a WINERY! A one night stand turns into a Grey's Anatomy style scenario when two strangers find themselves working together, and the plot takes off from there. Some surprises that are expected, but mainly a storyline that is easy to follow and will fill your brain with warmth and comfort.

Overall, I really do like Guillory's writing style but this storyline just didn't do it for me this time. Margot just seemed emotionally immature for her supposed age (as was constantly pointed out how she was older than Luke) and kept making huge assumptions about her brother and the business. Luke was likeable but I did feel like it was a little unbelievable that after only a month of dating (and in secret) that he felt the need to feel guilty about not immediately including Margot in his thought process about the future of his career.
While I appreciated that they were both going through personal and professional struggles (something that does make Guillory's books relatable) I just felt like them as characters were underdeveloped and I didn't feel as invested in their lives as I have in her other works. While perhaps just a more subtle storyline, this wasn't my favorite if hers, but still an enjoyable, light read.

I really enjoyed this book, and it was one of my favorite romances of 2022! First of all, I know we're not supposed to judge a book by its cover, but this one is stunning. Second of all, the book takes place at a winery--as if I wasn't dying for a trip to Napa Valley already! I love how Jasmine Guillory writes strong female characters, and Margot was no exception. Her romance with Luke was not only sweet, but believable. I appreciated how they navigated the ups and downs their relationship faced. This was a really fun read, and worth picking up!

Margot's one-night stand with a handsome stranger turns out to be with a new hire at her family's vineyard. There is the employee/employer dynamic, and perceived age issue (she's a little older than him). The forbidden aspect and boundaries create a delicious tension; additional tension comes from Margot's relationship with her older brother, who doesn't seem to think she should be the one in charge. The California wine country details and luscious, and as she trains Luke, we learn a lot. This was a sweet, steamy, fast read.

Jasmine Guillory knows how to write a story, and every single book she's ever written has drawn me in and made me want more at the end! I was sad when this was over and I'm looking forward to reading more in this wine country circle of friends.....they ALL need their HEA. lol
