This story was simply boring.

I hear so much about Jasmine Guillory so I made sure to grab this newest release. I can't say that there was anything wrong with this story. There just wasn't anything exciting.
The story is about Margot Noble. She has been working with her brother at the family winery. Her brother is more CEO of the winery and doesn't seem to respect her job much. Margot hangs with her friend, who ones a local bar, a lot. One of these nights, she meets Luke at the bar and they spend hours talking and laughing, but of course, no exchanging of names since they just wanted to forget about their respective stresses. Yeah, that never leads to problems.
Since they are both grown adults, they decide to enjoy the rest of the night together. They have great sex and he is a gentleman and drives her back to her apartment in the morning. Then Luke drives over to his new job at the local winery and meets his new boss, who he just slept with.
The rest of the story that I read involves Margot and Luke being very pleasant to each other while pretended they haven't seen each other naked. Luke learning his new job and Margot wanting to make sure her brother doesn't find out about her and Luke since he already doesn't seem to respect her.
The characters were all very nice. Even the brother, while aloof, was a nice guy. Margot and Luke were very respectful and were managing to act like adults about the whole mix up. But there just wasn't anything interesting about the story.
Yeah, Margot and Luke would make a nice couple. There was strong attraction but the sex wasn't off the charts. They were embarrassed that people would question their working and sleeping together but Luke wasn't planning on making this job his new career. Luke was just having problems with his big money, big brain software job, part of which was the fact that as he was the only black man in his company and he realized he was hired to simply fill that gap with no respect to his abilities. So both Margot and Luke were underappreciated.
Sometimes I wonder why we can't just have a sweet romance without stupid, senseless drama. I think this is why. It was boring. I put this one down and had no interest in seeing what happened next.

Jasmine Guillory never disappoints. I love everything she has written and this one was just as good as her other titles. I love love love love this author. Read all her books you will not be disappointed.

I love me some Jasmine Guillory. Her books are sexy, fun, and diverse, though this time both protagonists are Black, although it's not clear if that's true of the supporting characters. There's even a minor character who uses "they." Margot and Luke's relationship is realistic, although he is a bit of a dumb dumb and needs the women in his life to whip him into shape.
This book isn't part of the Wedding Date series but I was hoping to see at least one character from those books, and I wasn't disappointed when someone (I won't spoil who) visits the winery.

This is a great book for anyone who loves lighthearted, romantic, generally predictable stories. I mean that not in a bad way! There are many times that I just need to sit down with something that isn't going to surprise me too much, or have any unexpected triggers. I just want romance, a bit of humor, and some really hot main characters.
And this one takes place at a WINERY! A one night stand turns into a Grey's Anatomy style scenario when two strangers find themselves working together, and the plot takes off from there. Some surprises that are expected, but mainly a storyline that is easy to follow and will fill your brain with warmth and comfort.

Overall, I really do like Guillory's writing style but this storyline just didn't do it for me this time. Margot just seemed emotionally immature for her supposed age (as was constantly pointed out how she was older than Luke) and kept making huge assumptions about her brother and the business. Luke was likeable but I did feel like it was a little unbelievable that after only a month of dating (and in secret) that he felt the need to feel guilty about not immediately including Margot in his thought process about the future of his career.
While I appreciated that they were both going through personal and professional struggles (something that does make Guillory's books relatable) I just felt like them as characters were underdeveloped and I didn't feel as invested in their lives as I have in her other works. While perhaps just a more subtle storyline, this wasn't my favorite if hers, but still an enjoyable, light read.

I really enjoyed this book, and it was one of my favorite romances of 2022! First of all, I know we're not supposed to judge a book by its cover, but this one is stunning. Second of all, the book takes place at a winery--as if I wasn't dying for a trip to Napa Valley already! I love how Jasmine Guillory writes strong female characters, and Margot was no exception. Her romance with Luke was not only sweet, but believable. I appreciated how they navigated the ups and downs their relationship faced. This was a really fun read, and worth picking up!

Margot's one-night stand with a handsome stranger turns out to be with a new hire at her family's vineyard. There is the employee/employer dynamic, and perceived age issue (she's a little older than him). The forbidden aspect and boundaries create a delicious tension; additional tension comes from Margot's relationship with her older brother, who doesn't seem to think she should be the one in charge. The California wine country details and luscious, and as she trains Luke, we learn a lot. This was a sweet, steamy, fast read.

Jasmine Guillory knows how to write a story, and every single book she's ever written has drawn me in and made me want more at the end! I was sad when this was over and I'm looking forward to reading more in this wine country circle of friends.....they ALL need their HEA. lol

A great next book in Jasmine Guillory's series.
I cannot wait for another one.
She is a fantastic writer.
I loved each and every book in the series.
EXCELLENT

Margot Noble needs and break. Unfortunately, her breaks came at the wrong time when she decides to have a one-night stand with a handsome stranger named Luke. Little does she know that Luke is the new hire from her brother while she was out of town on a marketing trip. Hello HR conundrum. The realization is made more difficult by the sibling rivalry that exists between her and her older brother. Now, she must try to be a professional boss while denying the chemistry between her and Luke...
Told from alternating POVs of Luke and Margot, this was a fun (steamy) read set in Napa Valley. There was a lot of frustration with the main characters not being honest from the get-go, but overall, the setting and characters were easy to fall into. Anytime Jasmine Guillory writes something, I read it! She usually has diverse characters set in my favorite place (the Northern Bay Area) with a lot of descriptions of food. 90% of the drama could've been solved in a few moments so overall a 3.5 rounded to 4. I liked it, but just being nit-picky about the conversations that should have happened with both MCs and their families and the climax was just meh.

Jasmine Guillory is a very popular author, one whose books I didn’t think I liked that much. Her latest, Drunk on Love, has proved me wrong. This story is about Margot Noble who owns and runs an inherited winery along with her brother. She meets a charismatic younger guy while visiting her favorite bar in Napa. Luke Williams is looking for a fun temporary job after quitting his high-pressure tech position in Silicon Valley. The chemistry between them is undeniable and they end up spending a hot night together. Little did either of them know they would meet again the next morning as Luke was the newest employee of Noble Winery and Margot was now his boss.
Was this book predictable? Sure, but it was also charming and so enjoyable. Margot was feisty and Luke’s character was sexy and loveable.

Forever will adore the characters and worlds that Jasmine creates! And no one can do food/wine/dessert descriptions like her.

This was just an okay story to me. I didn't really connect with either characters. No spark leapt up to me. I did like the winery story though and the setting. I just wish it was a bit more.

I am a huge, huge Jasmine Guillory fan and normally devour her books as soon as I can get my hands on them. This time, life got away from me and I'm reading this one a few months later. In her latest romcom, we meet winery co-owner, Margot, who has an amazing night with Luke, who's recently moved back to the area. But the next day, before Margot has even decided whether to call him again, they discover that Luke is Margot's new employee, working in the tasting room and hired by her brother while Margot was away meeting with buyers. The two have an undeniable connection, but the small age gap (Margot is 6-7 years older) and their boss-employee relationship are hurdles for the pair.
Guillory excels at writing truly likable leads that seem like people you want to be friends with or in a relationship with. Max of Party of Two was my favorite book boyfriend for a while, but now Luke may have stolen the crown. Honestly, there's seemingly nothing wrong with him and I wish I could have him all for myself! This book had a natural progression and a fun setting. It feels more like Guillory's original series, before While We Were Dating and By the Book--a few characters even make a brief cameo--and I am here for the return.
Thanks to Berkley for my eARC! All thoughts and opinions are my own.
5 stars - 8/10

This book will be another hit with fans of Jasmine Guillory's characters and stories. With thoughtful, well rounded and deeply written characters, this not your usual romance, but a deeper and more satisfying story of finding love.

Another fun and well-done romance from Jasmine Guillory. I really enjoy the way she weaves her characters' lives and how she has them grow throughout the books.
Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for providing me with an arc for an honest review!

Jasmine guillory does it again! I was a bit worried when she ended her previous series since I’d invested in all the characters, but turns out she can start a new one just fine. The premise of employer employee romance was lovely and this one just rocked.

Thank you to NetGalley, Berkley and PRH Audio for the ARC in exchange for an honest review

I would recommend if you're looking for (SPOILERS)

-one night stand
-work place romance
-forced proximity
-insta attraction
-forbidden romance elements
This was such an enjoyable read. I adored Margot and Luke's dynamics. How we saw them become friends, not just lovers. how neither truly hid their attraction for the other as they figured out if this was something more than a hot one night stand. How this book didn't shy away from the work place dynamics as Margot was Luke's boss for awhile.
This was just a great set up, your hot one night stand from the night before ends up being your employee. These two burned hot and I just loved Luke. How much he respected Margot, saw something in her, and was just gone on her and had no embarrassment in hiding it. I adored his strong friendship and how close he was with his mom. He was just a genuinely nice guy who completely adored Margot and her drive to make her business better and prove herself. They were a great match.

This was a solid 3-star read. Jasmin Guillory always writes likable characters and low-stakes conflict that make her books sweet and easy to read, but the lack of major conflict in this one made it a bit boring for me.

I’ve enjoyed Jasmine Guillory's other books, so I was excited when I was given access to an arc copy of Drunk on Love. This book was a quick read, but the romance felt a bit lackluster for me. I also was really bothered by not only how predictable it was (though, I suppose a lot of romance is predictable) but how the story seemed somewhat, repetitive. I’ll still read her other books since she’s a good writer, but this one just didn’t hit home for me.
