This book is all about the setting. Give yourself the treat of a cozy weekend, behind the scenes look at a winery in Napa Valley, while enjoying the fun romance that you would expect from Jasmine Guillory.
Fun, light workplace romance that's more Rom than Com with an entertaining supporting cast of characters. Good representation- Black MC's with Black owned business.

As a wine lover I was very excited for this book and it was so enjoyable. I always love Jasmine Guillory's books and this one was no exception. I really enjoyed the dynamic between Luke and Margot and although there was come miscommunications as always in a Romance book, they weren't too bad.

This was a great book and was such a great escape from reality.

I loved the Napa winery setting, and Margot and Luke are appealing characters who each need to work out some personal issues before committing to each other. This is an easy, fun read.

This might be my last Jasmine G book. I just don’t fall Inlove with her characters like I wished I would. The writing was solid but I just couldn’t connect.

Audiobook Review:
This is another solid romance from Jasmine Guillary. She is an author that got me back into reading and I will never not read the books she comes out with as they are always swoon worthy and usually have some good steamy scenes.

This one follows Margot as she continues to work as a co-owner of her families winery in Napa, CA… on a night out with a friend she is dared to flirt with a handsome man and one thing leads to another… but then all the drama comes into place once the handsome man, Luke, shows up as their new winery employee the next day…

Now as boss and employee Margot and Luke have to walk the professional line that Margot has drawn in the dirt of the vineyard but… the tension!!!

I loved the workplace tension between the two and following their relationship through the ups and downs caused by their working relationship and hookup prior to knowing they were about to become employer and employee.

Margot Noble needs an escape from the stress of the family winery. Enter, Luke Williams. Sexy, charming, and a handsome stranger Margot will never have to see again. When he shows up at the winery as her brother’s newest hire for the tasting room, Margot is determined to keep things professional. As the chemistry continues to build, Margot and Luke find it challenging to maintain their distance.

I’ve been meaning to read Jasmine Guillory ever since I joined Bookstagram and I’m so glad I finally made it happen! I haven’t read much workplace romance so this was a fun book to dive into. And who doesn’t love a winery in Napa Valley as the setting?? 😍 AND THE CHEMISTRY 🔥🔥🔥 We all need a leading man like Luke in our lives! Margo was such an incredible character to read about. She was so likable and I loved how driven she was! Her and Luke’s relationship was SO cute and I couldn’t get enough of them! Thank you so much to Berkley Publishing, Jasmine Guillory, and NetGalley for my gifted e-ARC!

Jasmine Guillory writes good books. She is a go to author for me when I'm in the mood for smart, contemporary, romantic fiction. She writes strong female characters and Margot in Drunk on Love is no exception. I really enjoyed reading about her job as a co-owner of a winery and how thinks got complicated when, what she thought was a one night stand, turns into something more. Funny and heartfelt, I'm already looking forward to whatever Guillory comes up with next.

Where was Drunk on Love by Jasmine Guillory when I went to Napa earlier this year. I searched for a Napa themed romance book to bring along for my travels, and didn't quite find what I was looking for until now. In Jasmine Guillory's latest romance, it takes place with Margot Noble, a black woman in her mid-thirties who co-owns a winery with her brother. Margot has been so focused on her winery, that one night her friend Sydney, a owner of local restaurant challengers her to let loose and have a one night stand. Lucky, for Margot, a dashing young man, Luke enters her friend's restaurant that night and their is immediate chemistry. However, after an amazing night, Margot goes into work the next morning to meet the new tasting room employees her brother hired, and Luke happens to be a new hire. Remaining professional, Luke and Margot decide abstain from each other, until Luke gets a new opportunity to work at his mom's inn. Once no longer employee and boss, Luke and Margot explore their relationship and sparks fly.

This book is fun, steamy, and full of food and wine!

Although Drunk on Love (Berkley) by Jasmine Guillory is not an adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, or even more aptly, Persuasion, I still got a very Jane Austen-like vibe from Margot and Luke. The angst, the nerves, the pining are all signature Austen. But what stuck with me more personally is how a job affects not only your work life but your personal life as well. If you let it, a job can define everything you are.

Heroine Margot Noble has inherited a winery with her brother Elliot in Napa Valley. She’s been on a business trip — one of many she takes to help garner more business for the winery — something Elliott does not care about. Instead, while she’s been gone, he’s hired a new employee for the tasting room without her input. Margot retreats to her best friend’s restaurant and bar The Barrell for solace and good food, where she meets Luke Williams — handsome, younger and kind of nerdy. He’s not her usual type, but she can’t help but be drawn to him.

Luke Williams is back in his hometown after having quit his high-paying, stressful Silicon Valley job. He’s helped his best friend Avery move into a new apartment after a breakup with a long-time boyfriend. He’s also decided to get a low-stakes job at a winery while he figures out his next career move.

AUSTEN-LIKE CHARACTERS IN JASMINE GUILLORY’S CALIFORNIA

The attraction between Luke and Margot is immediate and heated. So much so, they have a wonderful, memorable one-night stand. Everything seems to be fine until Margot goes into the winery to start her Monday and is introduced to her new employee … Luke Williams. Cue the angst.

For Margot, being a business owner and seeing an employee is a no-go, if not for a bunch of Human Resources violations, but because her brother thinks she should never have inherited the winery in the first place. Margot is constantly defending herself and her business decisions, so she can’t be caught sleeping with an employee.

For Luke, he’s hiding the true status of his Silicon Valley job from his mother — also a local business owner — and he’s led her to believe he’s gotten back together with Avery, someone his mother has always wanted for him.

So Luke and Margot pine for each other, struggling not to look too longingly at each other or to reveal their attraction to those around them. By hiding their feelings from others, they also hide their feelings from each other and themselves. We see Margot trying not to let thoughts of Luke distract her and Luke wondering if he will ever get to be with Margot again.

Both are haunted with memories of that romantic night and plagued with a serious attraction that just won’t go away. These two really could be straight from a Jane Austen novel.

IDENTITY IN CAREER: HOW HARMFUL IS IT?

But when they do eventually get together, something else plagues their relationship: their careers. Luke is in a bit of a career crisis — why would you quit what you thought was your dream job? And Margot’s position as a Black business owner in a predominantly white upper-crust small town like Napa Valley is already all-consuming. Add to that a brother co-owner who doesn’t think she deserves to be there.

These two are not just angsty in love, they are angsty in life. Their worlds are intense, and their positions uncertain. On the other hand, each of them knows what they want instinctively, even if they don’t know how to get it (Margot) or don’t think they should have it (Luke).

AN ENTERTAINING AND LIFE-CHANGING STORY

This part of the novel struck a chord with me. For all of my work life, I’ve only had glimpses of what I’ve really wanted to do and a whole lot of what I didn’t. Being in that searching phase for years on end, trying to create opportunities where I can in fact get paid for what I want to do, and being frustrated with the general politics of being a Black woman in the corporate world have taken a toll on me.

Have they affected other parts of my life, even though I’ve tried to keep my work life separate? That wasn’t on my mind until I read this novel. To see these characters struggle with work and love, even to see their personalities be affected by their work dynamics, was eye-opening to me. It’s caused me to retune my career future and appreciate some recent changes I have made for a better work life.

When I first started reading Drunk on Love, I thought a story set at a Napa Valley winery would be relaxing, refreshing and fun. After all, that’s why I go to wineries. And while this is a refreshing, steamy fun romp of a story, for me it was also an eye-opening look at how we take work home with us. Or rather, a lesson on how we should take our true selves to work.

3.5 stars - this was overall cute, but I got a bit bored with it partway through. No fault of the book, but I think I’ve maybe read one too many romances this year and they’re all starting to blend together

Fans of Jasmine Guillory's previous novels will love her latest "Drunk on Love". This steamy romance gets right to it and never lets up.

3.5 stars, rounded up.
Drunk on Love is a fun and lighthearted romance set in the rolling hills of Napa Valley. The characters, both main and secondary, have very easy-to-love personalities and the setting for this love story makes for a great escape. However, there were some parts that struggled to hold my interest, especially around the middle of the book. Some avenues of the plot didn't add to the story so I felt the urge to skip them. But overall, this is an enjoyable read and a good pick for romantic comedy fans.

I adored this book. I loved the chemistry between Margot and Luke. The way they waited to be together untill the workplace romance wasn't keeping them away. It melted my heart and the sexual tension between them I mean is it getting hot in here!
Feel good read very enjoyable, definitely recommend.

I received this ARC from Net Galley. I was so excited for Jasmine Guillory to come out with another one of her hilarious and charming romances. This read has the strong female lead we all need! I loved the setting of Wine Country and going on the journey with the characters as they run their winery. This was a light and fun read, however it did fall a little flat for me. I enjoyed the storyline and character banter so much, however the character conflict seemed a little blown out of proportion for me. Maybe not Jasmine's best work, but still a great one! Would recommend!

I think I’m one of the only ones left who still will eat up what Jasmine Guillory will put out. So when I heard that there was another book by her coming out and this one was set in a vineyard that a BLACK family owned?! I was hella excited! But this didn’t have nearly as much chemistry as I wanted AND it was a little too repetitive for my liking.

There’s not too many vineyards that are owned by Black people, so I was hella excited when I heard about it. Especially since Black Girl Magic Rose is one of my favoritesssssss! But although there was a spot where the male MC was getting asked about some wines, he wasn’t really answering anyone. He was basically complaining about someone asking it. (Which was valid but still) I know she was the marketing team, but for a book set in a vineyard, I would expect the main character to talk about the place, the types of grapes, the different fragrances, etc. But she gave us nothing. As someone who got the very basics from Olive Garden when I worked there, I just think she could have at least TRIED.

Also going along with the plot, I wanted more chemistry between the two of them. They had a one night stand and even then before they got to their one night, it was them talking at the bar. And they moved it to her house. I don’t know, it was a bit boring. Because once they found out who the other was, they didn’t pay each other any attention after that. And when they did, it was out of left field again and they immediately did it again. ANDDDD this mofo lied to his mama the whole time. I was so mad at that. Lie to your best friend or your worst enemy, but don’t lie to your mama lol

This is one time for me that the tropes worked. I LOVE age gaps, so I wanted to know more about it as soon as I heard she was writing one. And then there’s the one night stand to your boss to lovers. I NEEDED to get my hands on this because I think I’ve read all the BIPOC age gaps I could find lol Yes this helped scratch my itch for BIPOC age gaps so I will treat it as a win since I didn’t DNF it. No it wasn’t great, it did keep me entertained. Was it the determining factor that I would read it tho? No. I will always add a Jasmine Guillory to my TBR.

Everything else was per usual. A slow burn romance, low spice although it seemed like they were doing it constantly throughout the book. And of course there was the third act. This break up was dumb tho. I think I remember even saying, “Dumbest fight ever.” Because really, it was. If it wasn’t for spoilers I’d tell you what it was and then you’d probably say the same thing too. It was all just dumb lol

The narration was ok. I haven’t listened to anything else they’ve narrated, so it was cool to find another two narrators to add to my list. It also looks like one of them is new to the narration world because only the one book came up when I pulled it up. Which was cool to me because I was so surprised. I had no idea that they were so new which means I couldn’t tell at all. Definitely a plus.

This was nothing like I wanted it to be. No chemistry and repetitive. But even still it did have some good moments. I just wish she would go back to her The Wedding Date years. Because this didn’t seem like her at all.

DRUNK ON LOVE is set in the Napa Valley, a place I hope to visit one day. Set at the Noble Family Vineyards, co-owned by siblings Margot and Elliot, it is a quick-paced and enjoyable read. Margot thinks Elliot doesn’t want her there even though they both inherited from an uncle. She runs the business side of things while he handles the wine-making.

Enter Luke, a new hire Elliot interviewed when Margot was out of town and who Margot unexpectedly had a one-night stand with the night before his first day on the job. Let the fun begin!

There is a playfulness as both Margot and Luke try to hide their feelings from everyone around them. But how well are they doing? They do agree that dating while she is his boss is a no-no, but that doesn’t mean they don’t cross the line a time or two. When Luke has to quit to help his injured mother run her inn, all bets are off.

As they spend more time together, we see the heat increase and their feelings grow. There are bumps in the road, lots of steamy moments, misunderstandings, secrets and lies along with a romance in wine country. There are many many threads being woven together in the telling of this tale. There is some closure and a potential happily ever after with the epilogue that takes place four months after the story ends, but I wish it had gone on just a little longer. I love the vibrancy of the cover and the silhouettes of Luke and Margot. DRUNK ON LOVE is a terrific romance with well-rounded characters. A must read.

Thank you for the opportunity to review this book

I am a huge fan of the author I get excited for every release of a new book. This title however fell a little flat for me. The characters came across as very immature and needy for the ages they were. It seems the conflict between the two could have easily been resolved with one or two open and honest conversations, but instead they talked around their issues and true feelings until they almost lost each other completely. I did however love the setting in the book and the information about winery owning and wines. I will read the author's next book because again a huge fan but this title was not my favorite.
