Tantalising as always, this story burns right where you want it to from the get go! Vampires, demons and all the other fun supernatural beings mixed in between. A sexy reverse harem with a dash of crazy, the all time favourite dark haired moody villian and the touch her and die protector, who we all love to love. Plenty of spice with a interesting plot, a must read.

Thank you Netgalley for sending me an ARC

Wow okay first things first CHECK THE TRIGGER WARNINGS

When I read the synopsis I was so sure that I was going to love this book. A steamy vampire book? yes please! Sad to say I did not get what I was expecting . This book was 99% smut and 1% plot. Which if you are looking for something like that here you go, but as much as I like a romance book there still needs to be a good plot.

All the characters were just flat and seemed to only have a singular personality trait .Overall this book was boring , seemed rushed, and had a really bad/ little plot.

Katee Robert's fans will probably be aware that Court of the Vampire Queen consists of three previously published novellas, which explains why there are brief re-caps at the beginning of Act II and III. Katie's writing is engaging and, as usual, there are a lot of steamy scenes (the protagonists are in a polyamorous relationship), so, if you pick this book looking for spice, you'll probably like it. Just read the content warnings (esp.blood play, explicit sex, pregnancy) and don't expect an intricate plot or serious character development.

Mina, the female protagonist, is a half-human, half-vampire daughter of a powerful 'bloodline' vampire overlord Cornelius. Given that she has no magical powers, her father has little use for her and sends her away as a gift (more like a snack) to his powerful prisoner Malachi. If Mina survives Malachi's bloodlust and even better gets pregnant by Malachi, Cornelius will be able to gain control over Malachi's bloodline. In this world/realm there 'turned' vampires and 7 bloodlines that are slowly dying out. Malachi and Mina's connection is immediate, but things get more complicated when he is joined by his friends/allies/(ex)lovers who would like to help him break free from Cornelius's imprisonment. In the meantime, they do discover that our magicless Mina was quite special, after all. As I mentioned above, the plot is pretty straightforward and heavily padded by sex scenes.

The protagonists (Mina and her 'reverse harem' Malachi, Wolf, and Rylan) are well-differentiated, but we don't know much about their past or their views on just about anything apart from Mina). Mina herself is a far cry from strong, sassy urban fantasy heroines- her males keep talking about her as if she isn't present, she feels everyone is making huge sacrifices by being with her, whenever there is a serious decision to make or a cost to pay, someone else does it.
Overall, come prepared and expect lots of smut.

I love vampires and I also love Katee Robert’s Dark Olympus series, so I was really excited for Court of the Vampire Queen. Historically, Robert has done an amazing job of writing sexy stories with compelling worldbuilding and character arcs that really bring the stories to life.

However, Court of the Vampire Queen completely eschews worldbuilding and character development (or even characterization!) in favor of more and more steamy scenes. Literally every problem is solved by sex and hand-waving. I love a good steamy scene, but these quickly became repetitive and boring. I kept waiting for the plot to develop, but it seemed as if the plot were just an excuse for more smut.

While I understand that there are readers who will love this proportion of sex-to-plot, I feel that this is not a well-done version of that book. It was often generic and repetitive. It’s hard to make vampires boring — especially when there’s sex involved — but somehow Court of the Vampire Queen achieves this feat.

Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks for an advance review copy in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

** Thanks to NetGalley, Katee Robert, and Sourcebooks Casablanca for this ARC. Court of the Vampire Queen will be out September 6th, 2022. **

As other reviewers have said, this book had almost no plot. There was an orgasm in the opening scene and sex was the thread that tied the whole book together. I would say this was 70% smut and 30% plot. Luckily, Katee Robert is DAMN GOOD at writing smut.

Mina is the powerless daughter of a powerful vampire lord. The book opens with her sent as a blood sacrifice to a vampire named Malachi, who she is to serve in whatever way he wants. Predictably, they fall in love, and she also meets two of his close friends. The four of them form a relationship and go about trying to overthrow her father.

This book seems to have originally been three novellas that the author smushed together - in each section of the book she reintroduces the characters and key details. There was also a lot of plot continuity issues in this book. Information was shared to one character and then the character would not know the information several chapters later. Aspects of the character's powers also sometimes changed suddenly without explanation.

If I was rating this book just on the plot, it would probably be a 2 star read, as the plot was predictable, inconsistent, and bare bones. If I was rating this book just on the smut, it would deserve a solid 4 stars. I'm compromising and giving Court of the Vampire Queen a 3 star review. Without the continuity issues and repetition of re-stating key facts needlessly in the same book, it might have been higher. This book had some potential and was an enjoyable read but didn't quite hit the mark.

A RH/poly paranormal romance with possessive men and their queen - it gave what it was meant to give, but the story suffered for it.
TW: patricide, abuse/neglect (in past, not on page), hella blood, pregnancy

The story starts with Mina, a dhampir, being deposited at the mansion of a powerful vampire, Malachi, by her abusive/neglectful father with the intention of being used as a bloodbag and breeder. We quickly find out that Malachi is as much a victim of Mina's father as she has been and the fear she initially had is replaced almost instantly with lust and, eventually, deeper emotions. It doesn't take long for men from Malachi's past come into the picture and, after a few not-so-idle threats to her life, the relationship grows to include them. Together, they come up with a plan to have Mina take her place as head of her colony and rid themselves of the constant threat her father poses.

This had so much potential but it just didn't live up to my expectations. The story suffered for the smut - some of the plot points/solutions centered around it with little to no real explanation as to why and it took me out of the story. It also got to the point where the actual relationships/connections started to suffer towards the end, as well. Which is unfortunate because that's somewhere Katee excels - I always love the relationships she builds between her characters.
Her writing, as usual, had good pacing and flowed well. The relationships between the characters - specifically at the beginning - were growing super beautifully and they felt organic in a way I've come to identify with her writing, so I was sad when I felt like they started taking a backseat to the sex.
Something else Katee excels at is her character building, and this was no different. I loved all the men - I thought they were well developed and nuaced. Simply put, I loved them. I also LOVED the dynamic between Azazel and Grace and I am so excited to know more about them in the future! A book about them in the demon realm is definitely something I would be on board with.
Overall, I would mainly recommend this book to people looking for a fun, sexy read with more emphasis on relationships than story.

Court of the Vampire Queen republishes the three previously published novellas in the Bloodline Vampires series by Katee Robert into one book.

Blurb for Sacrifice (the first novella):
All my life, I’ve wanted nothing more than to escape my father’s compound. Half human, half vampire, I have none of the perks and all of the weaknesses. Well, my father’s finally found a use for me. He’s sent me to Malachi Zion, the last vampire in his family. My role is to play resident blood bank and, should Malachi knock me up, my father gets access to a whole new bloodline to control.

No one asks me what I want. But the longer I spend with Malachi, the more I realize that he’s not the monster I first thought, which makes it harder to resist the heat that flares between us. And then his two friends show up and complicate things exponentially. As long as we’re stuck in this house together, I’m a trap just waiting to be sprung.

But if we break free, there’s nothing holding these vampires to me… In gaining the one thing I want more than anything—my freedom—I might just lose everything.

This book is almost entirely smut.

The cover is beautiful and unfortunately, that's really the only good thing I have to say. Like other reviews have said if you want a book with a story this isn't it, the book is 100% smut. I don't like to write negative reviews that give hit after hit to a book and I won't do that now. Just know this book comes with a long list of trigger warnings, is 99% smut, and the main character will have you wanting to pull your hair out.

This book will appeal to some people and I hope they enjoy it.

I am so excited that Katee decided to publish this series all together in a single bound book. These were the first books I read from her and I have been a big fan of everything I have read of hers since. She will always be an immediate pre-order author for me! In true Katee fashion, this book starts off hot and heavy from the first chapter and it just keeps on coming. I'm a sucker (see what I did there) for a good vampire romance, and with magic and a RH on top of that? Phew. I was genuinely hooked from the first page.

This book focuses on Mina, a powerless dhampir who will do anything to escape her father's control and abuse. She has been promised by her father as a sacrifice to Malachi, a centuries old bloodline vampire. Her father's plan is to gain more power by using their heir as a bargaining chip to control another powerful bloodline. The forced proximity and lust inducing bite of Malachi quickly turns sacrifice into something more. Malachi invests in Mina through training and he sees something more in her than just a sacrifice, more than just a dhampir...something sleeping beneath the surface. When Wolf and Rylan enter the picture, things rapidly heat up. How will these four navigate newly found magic and outsmarting a powerful and magical vampire bloodline while protecting their own?

Look, I've read Katee Robert before. I know what I'm getting into. But I usually expect a little semblance of plot, a little hint of build-up, a suggestion of chemistry.

It's not here, folks. The spicy scenes start in chapter 1, by 20% there's a threesome, 30% a foursome, and 50% they're all in love. Mina has a threesome as her *very first* sexual experience.

Goodreads review:
Listen. I will read anything that Katee Robert writes. But if you are looking for a book with a lot of storyline and depth, this isn't it! This book is pure smut and sometimes that just hits RIGHT. I think it's also worth noting that this is not new content from Katee Robert, this was a series of 3 novellas (Sacrifice, Heir, and Queen) that she put out in 2020-2021 and have now been repackaged into a single book with a new cover for wider publishing. This makes it a bit choppy of a read - each novella is separated into an "act" in this book, and since they were at one point each a separate book you get all this background at the start of each new act that you wouldn't actually need in one single book. So it definitely hasn't been edited to read as a single book. I don't believe there are any books planned after this one since the original 3 novellas were the entirety of the series.

Court of the Vampire Queen is about Mina, a half-vampire whose father is a powerful bloodline vampire (descended by birth from the original vampires, rather than humans who were turned into vampires). The bloodline vampires are strong and have various powers that have been passed down through their lines, but Mina didn't inherit any of her father's powers. As such she is pretty much useless to him and he's always despised her, and the book starts with Mina being "gifted" from her father to another bloodline vampire, Malachi, who has been magically contained in his home by Mina's father and hasn't been able to feed. Her father gifts Mina to Malachi basically as a snack but also to use for reproducing should she survive his initial bloodlust, and then her father plans to take the baby to have control of Malachi's bloodline.

The smut starts basically from the moment that Mina enters the house. She is not happy to be put into this situation but can't escape her father's influence. However, she can't deny her instant attraction to Malachi and is surprised when he treats her much more nicely than she anticipated, especially as her father has always treated her awfully. Two of Malachi's friends, Wolf and Rylan, who are also bloodline vampires and have had relations with Malachi over the years, show up at the house. They are determined to help Malachi break out of the magic holding him hostage in the house, and they find that maybe Mina has more power than they all thought at that she might be the key to breaking the magic...through a 4 person orgy. I literally could never make this stuff up!

As Mina continues to come into her own strength that she had never known, her relationship with the three male vampires also deepens. But her father presents a threat to their happiness, and is determined to track Mina and the other vampires down to keep her from realizing her true power and possibly overthrowing him.

I also LOVE that Azazel the demon is in this book! For those of you who have read Katee Robert's book "The Dragon Bride", you'll recognize him. Azazel showed up in this series first before he was in The Dragon Bride and has a much larger role here, trying to begrudgingly assist the vampires as he is friends with one of them. He talks about the auction he is organizing that we see at the start of The Dragon Bride. I loved this overlap and Azazel was a hilarious character in this book, is was awesome to get to see more of him.

Overlaying all of this is ... a ton of explicit smut. They'll be discussing the best way to deal with their issues and suddenly everyone is just getting naked and biting each other and going to town. The storyline seems detailed when you write it out but really it isn't super well developed in the book and just serves to move us from one smut scene to another. I personally did not have an issue with this - I like reading smut-heavy books from time to time because I think they're fun and hot, but if you prefer a book where storyline>smut, this one isn't going to be your cup of tea. I enjoy reverse harem and I liked all of the characters and the smut was sexy so for me this was a 4 star read! But please know what you are getting into before you decide to read this book.

Also, please check out the list of content warnings at the start of this book because there are a number of them and you should know what you're going into. These are reverse harem (1 female and 3 males) vampires y'all. There is blood play, gore, lots of biting, breeding kink and pregnancy, some dubious consent, and you get explicit scenes with every coupling imaginable (F/M, every possible combo of M/M, and MMMF orgies). In addition they discuss prior (off-page) abuse by a parent.

Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for giving me an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. Court of the Vampire Queen will be out on September 6, 2022!

All I needed to hear was “reverse harem vampires by Katee Robert” and I knew I needed to get my hands on this book!

Book 📚: The Court of the Vampire Queen by Katee Robert
Genre 🖤: Erotic romance fantasy
Rating ⭐️: 4/5
Spice 🌶: VERY SPICY AND EXPLICIT please read the content warnings in advance!

Note that this is not new content from Katee Robert, this was a series of 3 novellas from 2020/21 that are being packaged into 1 book and rereleased.

Synopsis: Mina is a half-vampire with a powerful (he also has magic powers) father, who hates her because Mina doesn’t have any powers. He gifts her to another powerful vampire, Malachi, to use to feed off of and breed with, planning to take any resulting baby for himself so he can control Malachi’s bloodline. Mina can’t escape her father’s plan, but she’s surprised to find that Malachi is a lot nicer than she expected and that she’s very attracted to him.

Malachi is trapped in a house by a curse from Mina’s father, and soon his two vampire friends/past lovers Wolf and Rylan show up to try to help him break it. They find that Mina might have more power than she thinks, and as the 4 work together to defeat her father the relationships between them all grow in the face of danger.

Review: Overlaying this plot is a ton of smut. There really isn’t even a lot of plot, it just serves to move us from one smutty scene to the next. I was fine with this because I knew it going in and I enjoy reading this type of book for the pure entertainment factor, but if you like a more storyline-heavy book this won’t be your cup of tea. For me it was sexy and fun and thus a 4 star read!

This is a 1 female/3 males reverse harem and there are explicit scenes with every possible coupling/group of them. There is also blood play (they’re vampires!), gore, lots of biting, pregnancy/breeding kink, and dub con.

If you’ve read the author’s book The Dragon’s Bride, you get to see a lot more of the demon Azazel in this book! He’s a hilarious side character and I loved the tie-in.

Thank you to @netgalley and @sourcebookscasa for this ARC in exchange for my honest review! Court of the Vampire Queen is out September 6.

Okay so! To start off, I had not realized this was a compilation of the Bloodlines trilogy so I'm happy that I hadn't read it yet!

This whole book was smut x 10, plot x 2 and tbh I didn't mind at all! I really liked the differences between Malachi, Rylan, and Wolf and how they complimented each other 👏 plus I mean 1 woman, 3 men a dream amirite? Overall 4 stars bc that spice was primeee

*Spoliers*
Epilogue related; once Grace took the deal I was like man I really want a Grace book and then we find out that the auction is the same auction for The Dragon's Bride/ A Deal with a Demon SO BING BANG BOOM #UNIVERSECONNECTIONS ie a Katee Robert specialty! Like there were some hints early on but my brain never even though to connect them This makes me even more jazzed for books 2 and 3 in the series than I was before!

People who read Bloodlines as separate books, is this a new epilogue??

Vibes: 5☆
Smut: 4☆
Plot: 3☆

3.5☆ Overall

If you want something fun & spooky & gothic & smutty, read this. If you want anything else, then maybe don't.

I am a huge Katee Robert fan and a huge vampire fan so I was super excited going into this book but I ended up feeling a little let down. I'm almost never one to complain about a book being too smutty, but I think I would've preferred this one to either have more plot or be a bit shorter. Overall, this was just a little too long for how little plot we saw throughout the novel.

Honestly though, I still really enjoyed this one overall. If you are here for vibes and smut, you will not be disappointed - just know what you're in for before you start.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

Big thanks to Sourcebooks Casablanca for the advanced copy of the book. This review is being given honestly and all thoughts and opinions are my own.

*PLEASE LOOK AT CWS!

CWS: gore, blood, bloody sex, breeding, dubious consent, murder, past child/domestic violence

Overall I am between 3 and 4 stars BUT I’m not feeling a decimal rating either. (Going with 4 rn based on how I feel but might change)

I’m not gonna lie this book promised to be hot and it was 🥵 BUT the plot was definitely lacking. Even though the book was pretty lengthy, if you told it all happened in 5 days I would below you, but not super sure if that was based on the writing or the fact I consumed this in 2 days.

The way the relationships developed wasn’t horrible and I wasn’t honestly expecting a super detailed build up due to the description so I was pretty satisfied in the end. Def feel like there could have been more though, all the feelings were more like ‘didn’t realize I was in love with you till now but was unconsciously feeling this way for a while’ .

I kind of wished we had more fleshed out heroes. I think Katee did a pretty good job with Mina and the heroes were pretty good but the book would have only been better with more history about them since we were only given so little (plus PLOT HOLES).

Overall this was good for what it was, an omnibus of a three part novels series that was very smutty and advertised to me as such.

Did I read the synopsis before requesting an advanced copy of this book? No. I saw Katee Robert and vampire and knew I wanted to read it.

Are you looking for a near 500-page, light on plot, sexy as hell book? Look no further! If you're familiar with Katee Robert's writing and enjoy her other stories, you'll also love this one.

Mina, a non-magical dhampir (half human, half vampire), is sold by her father to a bloodline vampire named Malachi, in the hopes she can return to her father with a powerful heir. As the story progresses (and more bloodline vampires join the mix - oh my), we discover that Mina isn't as powerless as we thought she was. Mina, along with her harem of hot vampire men, formulate a plan to take down her father and rule over her people.

Listen - you don't read this book for the plot. Was it super silly at times? Absolutely. That did not stop me from enjoying this, though, and it shouldn't stop you either!

3 ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thank you Netgalley and publisher for the e-arc for an honest opinion.

Please take in mind it’s my opinion, and everyone is allowed to have one.

This started off so great! The first part of the book is what made me keep on reading, and out of nowhere we got more people in the twist. It didn’t really get better, so many twists and turns and for what? The ending was also not it..

As I said the first part was great, I loved the chemistry between the characters but it went down hill once the others got involved. Overall it was an okay book.

Thank you Netgalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for offering the book as a Read Now option. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

DNF'd at 40%

I was wholeheartedly shocked to see Court of the Vampire Queen as a Read Now option and clicked on it so fast I was afraid to miss it. I love the cover! It's absolutely gorgeous and the synopsis gave off vibes of being my kind of book: vampires, a seductive romance, and maybe a fierce female protagonist.

Wrong.

I was duped and I am disappointed. This is my first Katee Robert book and I'm fully aware her books can have heavy steam. I was not expecting how heavy this one would be. Literally every chapter has a sex scene. I love sex scenes, I don't mind reading about it, quite frankly my dear I enjoy them, but there is no plot in this book. The characters are less than one dimension and the story starts as if we were supposed to know things before reading the book.

The inner monolog of Mina, the MC, is up there with Poppy from From Blood and Ash. The difference is FBAA at least has a plot and a reason to exist. Mina can't stop thinking about how wrong it is to be with three other vampires but does it anyway as if it's so shocking. She does this in every chapter. I'm not kidding. Her inner monologs are repetitive, eye rolling, and ridiculous. There's no connection between the reader and the characters.

I tried pushing through because Court of the Vampire Queen was one of my highly anticipated reads of the year but 40% was where I just couldn't continue... there are too many other books I'd rather journey through than this mess.

1 star (for the cover)

Such a fun, quick and SPICY read! (fans myself lol).
I love a good Katee Robert book, so I was super pumped to get my hands on this eARC, especially since it’s a new world full of vampires and other supernatural beings.
This one definitely fall into the ‘more of an erotic’ novel than fantasy romance. It’s a bit lite on the plot, mythology and world building. So if you’re going in looking for some akin to high fantasy, this is not it. If, however, you’re in the mood for broody, alpha vamps who are super protective of their gal, this is it!!!
Warning - there’s quite a bit of blood play and lots of dirty, dirty sex in a poly relationship setting.
Solid ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫(4.5)/5 for me (but I went in with what I consider to be appropriate expectations).
