One warning: if you don't like reading about criminals, psychopaths, thieves and genocides, among other things, don't read this series, since "This book contains intense descriptions of graphic sex, violence, and abuse, including emotional abuse, murder and torture."
In Mermaid of Paris, the story of Gia, the killer mermaid, continues. Always surrounded by criminals, in this book she falls into the hands of one of her lovers, the only one of her victims who survived her attack and seeks revenge. All this after having caused the genocide of one of the mermaid colonies... I actually think that everything that happens to this little psychopathic mermaid deserves it and my only reason to read this series is to see if she gets the punishment in the end it deserves...
To be fair, there are some things that make this story worth reading further: the covers are good and I think that among the characters, Serena, Vittorio and Queen Awa are the only ones that save the story... Harley maybe?
I thank the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this story. The opinion I have expressed above is based solely on what I think and feel about this book.

Another entry into such a fun series. Still quite fast paced. Good narrator for the books on audible as well.

“Merfolk choose your sides carefully. The power of the Graceful Tides has been corrupted. Before there is peace, there will be war.” ~Queen Awa.

Drama. That’s is what I’m dubbing not only this book, but this entire series. Everytime you think things can’t get worst, it does. Like when does the madness ends? And who’s standing right smack in the middle? Gia Acquaviva. She started all this and I feel like she’s going to have to end it. How, you ask? Stay tuned and find out because I’m at the edge of my seat.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

Thank you the author and the publisher for allowing me to get an eARC to read and review 💖

Even though I dubbed it as drama, I binged it every chance I got. Ride to work, break, ride home. It was short and just crazy. Let it be known I’m officially a Harper fan. I support everything she does and whatever she is going to do. I don’t care. She’s now under my protection.

Queen Awa… I still stand by my earlier assessment that I love her. She’s just so… queenly. Moussa, you deserve happiness baby, and REST. My god I’m sorry you’ve barely had time to exist in peace (BUT THE PLOT TWIST THO?????)

Everyone loves a good morally grey character but Florent is fifty shades of messed up. Harper is slowly losing her marbles in the best way. And Gia… whew. She’s at the pinnacle of all this crap. I mean for someone who hates the spotlight she really seems to have it on her regardless of the situation. Someone always has their eyes on her, in this case it’s the entire world.

In the beginning I though Gia was a girlboss because she had her empire, knew how to run it and didn’t take crap from men. Hell, even because she only killed men. But more and more I realize that she’s selfish and self centered and people are literally dying for her or as a byproduct of helping her and she’s… just concerned about herself. That doesn’t sit right with me. She’s really a psychopath and not in the ‘cute’ way some books paint these types of characters.

Let’s round back to Florent though, I don’t know what feelings he think he has for. But it’s nothing light and fluffy. It’s dark, obsessive and it’s filled with hate. I would think he would be perfect for her because they’re so similar but there’s such a thing as too much crazy and there’s too much history and bad blood there to get a fresh start.

There’s so much to unpack but… I loved this book so much. It might be my fav so far.

P.S Moussa and Kyle????????????????????? Still reeling from that. I think I audibly gasped. I’m starting to realize that I have a love/hate relationship with most of these characters except Vittore and his lover Stavros.

I hated this cliffhanger more than I hated college. And I REALLY hate college.

One more chapter in Gia's life and another good one.
I was surprised with the level that Gia's relationship with Florent got to. We got to be more in depth on the mermaids war and with the proposition Riley did Gia in the end, I'm so curious for the next one. Also with that epilogue ending...
Can't wait for the next one!

Gia is BACK! Gia Acquaviva is a beautiful and rich Venetian woman with a portfolio of clubs and casinos around the globe. She also has some dark secrets - she's a mermaid and an keeps an underwater graveyard filled with the bones of her former lovers. Her family’s roots descend from the mythological sirens of ancient Greece, but she’s taken every precaution to protect her anonymity and the existence of other mermaids. Unfortunately, her secrets are all out in public now. She's been accused of murdering her first true love and father of her just born child, her business empire is under attack by her own kind, she’s escaped the grip a crazed Sicilian mob boss, she’s had to fight tooth and nail to regain custody of her daughter, and now her world is on the brink of a merpeople civil war. She’s also had to face one of her failures - a still-alive former lover who’s got revenge on his mind but is offers his help when Gia has nowhere else to turn.

I'm so glad I took a chance on this book series - I don't read a lot of fantasy, but I was too intrigued by the comparison to Killing Eve to pass it up. Mermaid of Pais is the fourth book in the Mermaid of Venice series, and each book is a novella or short novel that serves as a chapter for our main character in whichever city the action is taking currently set. I really liked how easy these books are easy to pick up and read in just one evening without interruption. They are very fast-paced, so there isn't a lot of words spent building up the action or scenery, but I didn't really mind the lack of excessive page space spent on pretty words. The characters still felt well-developed and the scene set. While this book didn’t have quite the same drama and action as the previous books, I have a feeling it’s purpose it to properly set the stage for the final two explosive books!

Gia is back this time when the war is in between mermaids themselves, and Gia is still trying to figure out ways to get back the hold on her estate and money.

A person from her past returns and the danger lurks over her head, now how will she get past it?

It was a fun easy read and I liked the dive in this fantasy world.

Gia is back and connected with a mysterious person from her past. But as war looms between the mermaids and her daughter shows signs of long forgotten magic, Gia will have to use her survival and wits to come out on top.

Im addicted to this series. The world of Gia and her mermaids is absolutely compelling and im really enjoying the story. It’s hard to give a synopsis or comment on things because there are so many spoiler if I did, but needless to say, a lot of action happens that will blow your mind.

I’ve fallen in love with this world and these characters and can’t wait to see what happens next!
