I received an ARC of, Fenian Street, by Anne Emery. I really enjoyed this novel. Shay was a lovely character. The book was a bit dark at time, but it was pretty true to what happened at the time. I liked that the author used real characters interlaced with fictional characters.

Intrguing read. I didn’t want to finish the book because it was so good. I enjoyed the story set in 1970s Dublin and New York. The characters are drawn out well. I would look out for other Anne Emery Books.

Being of Irish Descent this was such an interesting but emotive read for me and gave me a lot to talk to my grandparents about. I really enjoyed it, it was well written with a compelling and somewhat brutal storyline that highlighted courage in the face of discrimination. The characters were well developed and believable. I enjoyed it.

An interesting cop/detective mystery set in Dublin, Ireland. A lot of politics and the us vs them of the Irish Catholic and the English. Well written, and gives a good insight into what these people have endured. A few bits here and there were known to me, but otherwise mainly just notes from U2 songs and brief names in the news, so this was new to me. At times a bit sad of course, how could it not, but shows a strength in the Irish people that can be admired. Shay is a cop, and he works hard to find out who murdered a friend and a short time later a politician. Good story, and one I highly recommend.
