Library Girl is a picture book about young Nancy Pearl. I must confess I have no clue who she is, why she's so famous and revered by the library community, and even after reading this book, I still couldn't tell you. Library Girl is a cute story about a young girl who finds her way to the library and discovers all the worlds waiting for her between the covers. Perhaps the book would have meant more had I known who Nancy Pearl is. The illustrations are very cute.

Thank you NetGalley and Sasquatch Books, Little Bigfoot for the opportunity to read an advance reading copy.

This was a very cute and endearing story. I love stories of libraries changing young kids' lives and making them fall in love with reading. As a library assistant, stories like these make my heart feel all fuzzy.

This book made me feel so seen. As a kid I was just like Nancy and I’m so excited that more kids will be able to see themselves in this book. As a future librarian, this book warmed my heart and reminded me of why I do what I do. This story is so well told and has a great plot, while also being inspiring and fun and informative! I want every little kid to read it!

Thank you to the Little Bigfoot and NetGalley for the advanced electronic review copy of this wonderful book. This is an amazing picture book biography of Nancy Pearl — a celebrated librarian, as well as a tribute to books and libraries. Magical illustrations greatly enhance the story. Wish the text font was a bit bigger though. This book is a must read for anyone who loves books, libraries, and reading.

It’s a beautiful story about a little girl named Nancy. Her story will help empower young girls and shy kids everywhere to not just read, but find what they love in-spite of feeling different or afraid. Hopefully, the adults will be inspired to be a mentor and a friend that all children need. Nancy was so lucky to have three of these wonderful women in her corner.

What’s even better than the story is the real life Nancy’s biography and photos at the end!

The one and only critique I have is for the formatting of the digital copy. The words and pictures don’t line up the way they should. I’m sure this something that will be fixed before the release date and in no way effects my rating and love for the Library Girl.

This book was adorable and inspiring. It was nice to see the little girl develop her confidence as the book progressed. And who doesn't love a child who loves to read. Bonus points for being a true story.

What a marvelous story about librarian Nancy Pearl. The illustrations were so whimsical and the writing style will engross children. This is a good read aloud book for classrooms to encourage children to take chances and dream.

Thank you Netgalley and publishers for the opportunity to read this enchanting children's book.

I enjoyed this adorable book. The illustrations were incredibly sweet. I enjoyed the colors and the texture of the images and artistry. I especially love how the illustrator distinguished the imaginary horses. I think that's really a great visual technique for children to differentiate what imagination might look like written in a book. I did feel like there was a little bit of trouble with the flow of the writing. But I still enjoyed the book overall. I think any book lover would adore this story. I think we all would secretly love to spend our lives with books helping children and others achieve their dreams through reading and learning.

I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

Library Girl is an adorable book in tribute to a famous librarian and author in America called Nancy Pearl. Being in the UK I hadn't heard of this amazing lady until now and I'm so glad I've discovered her through this book. I too was a child who always had a book with her and kept quiet about how much I actually read as I grew up. I'd get teased for reading by my peers, but this never stopped me thankfully. I'd have loved to be a librarian too. This is such an inspiring story for children and shows how interests and passions, when pointed in the right direction can help you find your people and your community. This is definitely a book to stock in any library!

Beautifully illustrated, this picture book will be a good addition to libraries .As a librarian I love the sentiment at the end of how reading helps people to find their dreams, but the overlying theme of empowering children to embrace their passions with confidence is the key to this title.

The story of Nancy Pearl is one that is near and dear to any librarian’s heart. Those who love books but are sometimes less comfortable in social situations will see themselves in her story. A hopeful story on the power of believing in yourself and how important it can be to know that someone else believes in you.

Oh, my Gosh! This is the cutest, sweetest, loveliest book ever!
Library Girl is the story of Nancy Pearl, the most popular librarian in the US. She dons many hats as an author, literary critic, and public speaker. Since the book is written for kids, her story has been presented to suit the age group.
It’s no surprise that Nancy loved books all her life. She escaped into the world of bookish adventures even as her friends teased her as a library girl. When the school librarian gives a hand-drawn map to the public library near her house, Nancy’s life changes forever.
Nancy reads all books she can find and learns that she can be anything she wants to be. That’s when Nancy decides to be a librarian, and as they say, the rest is history.
The illustrations are wonderful. The imagination parts have a different hue while the rest of the illustrations are ethereal with a beautiful glow. I love how beautiful the pages are. Just wish the text was a bit bigger.
To sum up, Library Girl is a must-read for little ones who love books.
I received an ARC from NetGalley, Sasquatch Books, and Little Bigfoot and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is a wonderful story of America's most celebrated librarian, Nancy Pearl. The little girl in the library could have been myself. I always thought the school library and the public library were magical places, still do! I love how this book showcases the power of books! How it brought Nancy out of her shell, and gave her self confidence. How it made her feel included and taught her how to make others feel included when she gave her 1st talk. I love her quote "Girl discovers books, then discovers life." A quote to live by!

As a child, I had a lot in common with young Nancy Pearl. Glasses, not fitting in, shy. Nancy's passion was horses while I tried to check out Gray's Anatomy at ten (after reading a lot of Perry Mason). Even more, I was led to many things and achievements by the librarians in our public library, just as librarians everywhere are doing for people of any age or language everywhere. The English in this book is perfect for ESL.
Sheryl Murray fills the pages with whimsical, colorful illustrations which add even more joy and meaning to this book.
I requested and received a free temporary e-book on Adobe Digital Editions from Sasquatch Books/Little Bigfoot via NetGalley. Thank you!

An amazing picture book narrating the inspiring story of the celebrated librarian Nancy Pearl.

Nancy Pearl has been a librarian, among various other social positions, for many years. She has had a lifelong passion of reading. There’s even an action figure modelled after this amazing woman. This little picture book brings to us her story.

Nancy loved reading more than anything else and spends all possible free time at her school library. The other kids teased her as “library girl.” One day, when she is speaking with her school librarian about not being able to come to the library on Saturdays, the kind librarian tells her about public libraries. Off sets Nancy on her beloved bicycle to the Francis Parkman Branch Library at Detroit. And here the world of wonderment opens up to her. But her shyness doesn’t go away easily and it takes two amazing librarians to help Nancy discover the power within her.

The book is a beautiful tribute to two things that all of us readers love – books and libraries. Every page of this story is filled with an ode to the power of reading and how it can unfurl your imagination.

The illustrations have a fantastical kind of vibe to them. They look almost as if they are glowing. I was mesmerised by the quality of the art – it offers such a wonderful tribute to the magic of books.

The vocabulary level is quite suitable for ages 5-9.

Definitely recommended not just to know more about an amazing public personality but also to understand the difference a book can make in your life.

4.75 stars.

My thanks to Sasquatch Books, Little Bigfoot, and NetGalley for the DRC of “Library Girl”. This review is voluntary and contains my honest opinion about the book.

A Library Girl after my own heart. I knew I would like Nancy Pearl; we have never met officially but I do think she and I could be friends. I certainly wish she would have been in my elementary school since we could have gone to the library together! Sweet illustrations and a story about a girl who finds her niche in the Library and is able to bring others around her who feel the same. Thank you Netgalley for this pre-published ARC.
