This was a great book. I loved every paragraph, every sentence and every word of this masterpiece! I read it in 12 hours, which is a lot for me to do! It had everything and more laid out in the novel! I sure hope he writes more! I am totally hooked!

Another Matilda Darke mystery is always a joy to read. This one seems to have settled down somewhat from the rogue book phase where the author seemed to make seemingly wild decisions about deaths and killers - in a WHAT?! kind of way. This was the team back (almost) at their best with a few new additions whom I am sure will soon become as familiar as past characters. The theme of the book was as graphic and traumatic for the victims as past books have been but with also themes of resilience and overcoming challenges. If you enjoy the series you will enjoy this, if you haven;t then go back to the start as so much has happened by this point. P.s I can see a future plot with a certain character turning out to be the baddy!

I have just finished reading Silent Victim by Michael Wood and I am absolutely shocked. This story is so strong and powerful I immediately want to read the next instalment. I read this in two sittings, I couldn’t put it down! Matilda is a very strong, brave and a little bit crazy woman. She really puts herself out on a limb to catch a very sick minded serial killer. The ending has floored me. I highly recommend this book, it’s thrilling and definitely one you won’t be able to put down.
Thank you to Netgalley and the author for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Wow wow wow! Can’t believe this is The 10th book in the series. I can. Honestly say there is not a bad one in the series in that it just gets better if that can be possible. It starts off with a bang as usual and doesn’t let up until the end. This book to me was so special. The fact was that I was able to read it, enjoy and take it all in even during a brief spell in hospital just means how outstanding this book is. The pace doesn’t let up until the very end and is one of the few books I read right until the very final page because I know there is always a good ending. I am pleased to report this one also has a good ending and I am even more pleased to know that there is another one because I don’t know what I’ll do if the series finishes. my thanks to the Publisher and net galley for an early copy, outstanding as usual

This series somehow just keeps getting better! 14 year-old Tilly Hall is abducted and raped, and left for dead with her throat cut. Unlike the three females before her, she survived. The South Yorkshire police force is severely understaffed due to COVID and they ask Matilda Drake to come back and work this serial killler case. She re-assembles her team and the hunt is on. I love these characters and raced through this gritty, gripping crime thriller until a humdinger of an ending that has me gasping for the next installment.

Silent Victim is the latest in the DCI Matilda Darke series. I’ve read a couple of the previous books and really want to read the rest of the series as this author is brilliant. Having not read the previous books does not detract from this novel as you’re given enough of a back story.

Silent victim is full of action from the start. I found it to be a gripping thriller that pulled me in from page one and was impossible to put down. The plot progressed at pace and kept me guessing and I loved being back with the old characters. A fantastic read that I highly recommend. Thank you to NetGalley, Harper Collins UK, One More Chapter and the author for the chance to review.

This is one of my favourite series. Minus the bit of propaganda this was another great book in the series. I liked the murders how they were unique, but the same. I liked the personal turmoil of the characters and I liked the overarching storylines to be carried into the next book. I am also a fan of cliff hanger endings and I am impatiently waiting for the next book.

First l must thank NetGalley as well as the publisher for the rARC in exchange for my honest review. Harrowing, raw, emotional. Yet another very satisfying thriller. Focusing so much on frustration, knowing the inevitable ending? Any one of the ten DCI Matilda Darke novels are well worth the ride! I look forward to the next.

Oh my goodness how have I not known about this fabulous writer before now? Blown away by this book ! It was so well crafted, the characters believable, flawed and relatable and the storyline so well thought out . I was invested from the first paragraph. It's refreshing to have police characters written with such authenticity and I love how the story unfolds from every perspective, police, victim and murderer. It's fast paced, gripping and though I'd worked out who the murderer was, enough doubt was cast to make me absorbed to the last page -and what a last page! I have next book on pre-order plus I've just bought the first books in this series . Brilliant!

Wow what a book I can’t get my breath back and what a fantastic cliff hanger it starts with the rape and torture of Tilly a 14 year old, lucky for her a passerby scares her tormentor and he leaves her for dead she uses her SOS on her phone for the police to find her, Matilda has been asked to help on this investigation as she has not been working as she has had a traumatic past but will they ever find the killer it kept me on the edge of my seat I can’t recommend it enough it was fantastic.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC

Wow! Where do I even start. I'm brand new to the series and I can't wait to go back and start from book one! This is just the perfect dark thriller. It gets under your skin from the start and doesn't let up until the end. The writing style keeps the pace flowing at a good rate and its just so packed full of action and suspense. I loved every second of it! Can't wait to spend the next few wks going through the back catalogue

So pleased to read this advanced copy! Matilda Darke is back, I have read all of the Michael Wood books and Silent Victim did not disappoint. Author knows how to keep readers interested with different twists and turns. As off all his books some parts are difficult to read but not without merit! Keeps readers on their toes. Cant wait for next.

If only I could give Silent Victim more than 5 stars.

Michael Wood has done it again and Silent Victim is his best yet.

Matilda Darke is back and this is one of her most challenging cases.

The team, some new, some old members are racing against the clock to find a serial killer that is targeting women.

One is left alive but unable to speak.

That's all I will say except the ending I did not see coming at all (though Michael Wood always surprises me) and my cat ran when I yelled out loud.

I anxiously await book 11.

Thanks to NetGalley and Harper Collins UK, One More Chapter for a heart pounding read.

I am astounded by how good this book is, where has this series been, and how did I not know? Matilda Darke is my favorite contemporary heroine, she is an outstanding DCI in Shelffield England, she needs to be on Britbox in her own series! I am determined to buy the previous books to understand how she got to this drastic decision in her life. I love her compassion, her intelligence, her hutzpah! However, the ending to this story is too much for me, and I am a pro death penalty, and pro self-defense person! Chasing down a twisted serial killer makes for a scary book, some of it is shocking, I hate spoilers, so I will only say, for the first time this year, this is A Must Read! You will be talking about this book over your Starbucks! Thank you #Netgalley #HarperCollins

Book 10 in the Matilda Darke Series and Wow!

A Pulse pounding thriller that literally has it all, nerve shredding, gripping and breathless.. with a dash of humour throughout to slightly dampen the dark tones.

This story centres on the abduction of a 14 year old girl. What follows is intense, heart stopping fast paced crime writing, that ends with a cliffhanger to make you bite your nails.

Disturbing, clever, Superb,
